  • ok we all know the usual questions so can u please answer them now

    • speeds support etc :)

      • -2

        Typical evening speeds are 10Mbps, 21Mbps and 42Mbps respectively (nbn12, nbn25 & nbn50).

        • +1

So the usual ripoff because the private sector is seemingly incapable of truthful advertising or providing cheap, efficient service at high levels.

The Government claims the exact opposite naturally despite the ACCC repeatedly stepping in to regulate this hopeless mess ripping off consumers.

  • What the? I'm a Mungi customer and didn't even know…. looks like i'm on the lookout for a new provider

  • I have chanced ISP's 2 times in the last year, every where I go goes into Administration. Would have been nice to receive an email from Mungi. This is terrible news.

      See below

Can you please let us know which one you go with so we can avoid them? :)

      • +1

Might be Tangerine from the looks of it.

    • +3

Can you help us by joining Telstra and later Optus and finally TPG, i am sure lots of people will be happy :-)

  • +3

Tough times for all the small players in the market, all because of the greedy NBN and their Liberal masters!

    • Sleepy24seven,
      Thanks

    • +2

Mainly due to unsustainable prices like this deal.

    • +1

The problem - well, ignoring the NBN - is that the profit driven private sector cannot deliver high service levels at cheap prices.

Management functions are duplicated across every provider creating massive extra costs to consumers. And that's before we get to the basic problem which is that they have to pay shareholders and have to operate the business to enrich their owners which means increasing prices and lowering value at all times.

      • +1

I think the real problem is the ISP's just starting out have to use a price advantage when competing with the bigger players like Aussie who deal directly with the NBN and can set up more efficient process around churning etc. In the end they can't compete and have to close. The reality is, instead of just having a Telstra monopoly we now have a system where we have 3 or 4 players and that's it.
When the ACCC increased the number of POI's it instantly worked against the startups and this is the result.

  • Oh shit….

  • Mungi worked really hard to get me connected to the NBN I moved into a place that had HFC NBN already installed during the HFC freeze and the NBN decided to pretend I didn't exist for 90 days and I talked to Jamie alot. But I'm wondering if I went with a bigger company at the time I would have been connected quicker. But can't fault their customer service.

with tangerine now. happy with the service. Can rep please answer that do you charge extra $3 per month if direct debit is not set in your account?

    • Thanks Bik! Glad you're happy with the service.

      • U didn't answer? If it $3 extra for not having direct debit?

        • Hi Bik, yes there is a $3 non direct debit fee. This covers the cost of processing payments like AusPost and BPay. No charge for bank account direct debits. Thanks

  • Kogan nbn seems another option as well, am also with Mungi and haven't received any update yet(should have received an email). Not sure how many days we have before their nbn stops.

  • Signed up, fingers Crossed Tangerine:)

  • Very happy with Tangerine NBN 50 now. I had Telstra for 2 years not happy with price and moved to Aussie Broadband not happy with speed and again moved to Telecube felt same as AB. Then moved to Tangerine NBN. Feel like using Telstra speed.
    I strongly recommend Tangerine.

    • Thanks Batman!

  • Hi OP,
I have just lodge a complaint in your website in regards to the refer-a-friend credit and reversal of non direct debit charge in my account that do not appear in my account, which I chat with your customer service beginning on this month and they said they have applied it in my account. I checked my account today and there is no where I can see the credit. If you cannot keep your promise, why we should stay with you ?

    • Hi yht, thanks for referring Tangerine! If you have referred a friend during the month then you will see the credit generate on the next monthly invoice after your friend successfully gets online. This will not show in your account balance until your next invoice. Hopefully this clears up any misunderstanding.

      • Do you meam in the second invoice? What about the reversal of the non direct debit charge?

        • Any reversals or refer a friend credits are processed in line with our usual monthly billing cycle, so you would see this on an upcoming invoice. Please PM me your customer account number so we can properly review your account. Thanks.

  • Does anyone know why you need to do this:

" Please contact MUNGI to disconnect your service, after this is complete Tangerine will place a new connection order. This may lead to some downtime."

Does this have to be done regardless of who your new provider is?

Emails are going to the Administrator, I couldn't imagine it being processed very quickly if all staff have been made redundant.

    • njm, I singed up 7.00pm, I haven't got his message. Will be hard to disconnection old service. I dont even know my old Account Number. Cannot login and get it. I am hoping it is my old Modem login

      • +1

yeah, if no one is working there it would be impossible.

        • +1

Orders are still being processed… you should have heard from us by now. Thanks.

    • +2

      No it doesn't.

    • njm, just received the same email about disconnecting old service before connecting to Tangerine, this is Bloody Impossible. Broadband in Australia Sux https://mungi.com.au/

    Another one bites the dust.

    Is ABB next?

    • +1

I am just hoping mate isn't next maybe I should switch to one of the big guys more before it is too late. I have until I think February before the $10 promo wears off.

I had very poor results when downloading from my seedbox (ftp server) with Tangerine. I was lucky to get 50kB/s on my 50mbit FTTP connection during peak times.

I ended up Cancelling within their 2 week trial period. In fairness to Tagerine the cancellation and refund was processed without question.

    • +1

Sorry that you experienced issues with your seedbox. This is not usual feedback from our users.

Whats the Go with this Below, Never had to Disconnect from One NBN Provider, before connecting to Another before?

Thanks for your recent Tangerine NBN order using the MUNGI promo code. you should have received information of your account details already.
Unfortunately as your line is in use with Mungi for FTTN technology we will require it disconnected before we can connect you to FTTN with us.
We're afraid that this is an requirements with our upstream carrier.

Please let us know when you are disconnected with Mungi so we can complete your order.

    • +1

Hi error619. Tangerine and Mungi use the same upstream NBN carrier - and unfortunately they do not support on-net FTTN transfers. We can often get re-activation on the same day that a FTTN is disconnected. I understand though that disconnection from Mungi may be difficult now that Mungi have closed their website. Feel free to reach out via PM and we work closely with you to minimise downtime as much as possible.

      • Thanks tangerine01

      • Hi tanderine01,
My Mungi Account has been axed, I sent you a PM

I think the first thing to take away from the Mungi collapse is that many 'discount' RSPs are not operating on sustainable deals. On the NBN there only two main ways to make a profit - cut corners on the bandwidth to your customers or slowly go broke.
Second thing I always wonder is why can't RSPs just make a straight deal? This is a $80 a month plan with a 20% discount on the first 6 months. Thereafter full price.

And as less and less Competition, Prices are now very Similar between providers. Not good for the Taxpayer Funded NBN. Yes, we payed for this.

  • +1

Been with Tangerine for 2 months now after Telecube collapsed. I'm on the 50 plan. Speeds have been serviceable without lighting anything on fire. No lag on Netflix, browsing, streaming etc. But wireless speed tests have never yielded above 35 and have been as low as 18 during peak times.

Tangerine I signed up Wednesday still no internet, I have been chasing this up with you guys. No one from your team has once called me to give me an update.

    • Hi silkysmooth, the MUNGI cancellations have not been processed as quickly as we would expect. As such there have been delays in getting some new orders submitted. Please PM me your account number and I can check on yours specifically. Thanks.

      • I also signed up Wed and wanting to know what's going on with mine, have PMd my account number - thanks.

        • I just canceled my request, have to wait another 5 days as my transfer has been rejected

          • @silkysmooth: Yes very sorry silkysmooth. The carrier has had unexpected issues with on-net FTTC transfers.
