        • That's not good if you ordered 2 days ago. Which one did you order?

          • @akura: I ordered the 65" C8

            • @Gengar: Hmmm that's no good, i ordered the same thing on the Wednesday night

      • This happened to me too. Seriously pissed off.

        I ordered LG 65" C8 OLED 4K UHD TV $3499.

This is the second time DJ has done this to me. Last time was a few months back for a food processor / cooker.

Can we take action - ban DJ from the site - it that too extreme?

  • Same, my order also says still pending. I’d say a few orders might get cancelled as stock was very limited.

    • If they are out of stock shouldn't they call you and give you the option of:

      1. Cancel and refund the order, OR
      2. Keep the order while they order it in from the manufacturer (with an estimated wait time)

It should be up to you to decide what you want to do right?

I mean, you were able to place your order and they've taken your money.

Doesn't seem to be good customer relations if they just outright cancel your order without giving you a choice.

Worse, what if you purchased $3.5k worth of gift vouchers (to try and save 10%) - then if they just go and cancel your order, you're left with thousands in gift cards which potentially could be useless to you (if you rarely shop at DJ's)

My order for LG C8 55inch has just been cancelled. No explanation why.

"… On this occasion, we're sorry to advise we are unable fulfil the item(s) in your order."

Very disappointed as I could have price matched elsewhere instead. Sounds like in not the only one either.

    • +1

You should probably call up to complain and tell them that's just unacceptable.

      Afterall,

      A) Your order was accepted, AND
      B) Your card was charged and money was taken

You should tell them that they should order it in from the manufacturer to fulfill your order.

I remember a while back I ordered a printer from Good Guys.

It was a very very low price and was ozbargained and they must have been flooded with orders.

But they didn't cancel my order, they said they will need to order it in and I had to wait, so I said I will wait.

Ended up waiting over a month - but the point is, I still got my order.

      • I agree, however these things tend to take more time and energy than it's worth, often with no positive outcome. I left them a bad review on productreview and will avoid shopping at David Jones in future.

    • What day and time did you make the order?

      • Placed my order on 22nd November around 22:30.

  • Hi all, just popped on here to say I purchased the LG C8 55 on the morning of 23rd, around 10:30am. Order went though, paid for, card charged. Called David Jones a few hours later to arrange delivery and they said my order needs to go through the verification process??? then I'll get a call from the vendor next week to arrange delivery.

If you visit the product pages for the 55 and 65, you can no longer add them to your cart, only the 75.

If my order is cancelled I'm going to rage quit on David Jones. Like others have said I could have price matched elsewhere. Will post again with further updates.

    • Yes it’s ridiculous.

Most likely they’ll cancel with the excuse of “failed verification” rather than cancelling due to no stock.

Come to think of it that has happened to me before - I had purchased a MacBook Pro on sale. Order got cancelled due to “failed verification”. When I called to complain I was told that I could simply go and buy it in store.

Of course I didn’t do that though - since price was no longer the same as the “sale” price of the original purchase.

      What a dodgy retailer…

      • I've also had a bad experience purchasing an iMac a few years ago. Had the deep discount, but claimed no stock and they weren't prepared to order from Apple. After much tiresome complaints they ordered one for me. But just (profanity) annoying, don't advertise at a price you can't provide.

        My order is still Pending.

    • Status: Card Validated

      • Just means your order passed the fraud check

    • Order cancelled. Refund will be issued in 3-10 business days. Absolute joke.

  • Went to a physical DJ store and asked if I could order and told they are no longer taking orders :(

  • Had the same email for my c8 55" tv Really disappointed. Has anyone had any luck with complaints?

  • The same thing happened to me too.
They should be able to honour it seeing that it's a 2018 model.

Has this only happen to us who paid by gift cards or is it everyone including people who paid with cash/credit card?

  • Paid with gift cards
    Will call to complain

  • +1

I will be escalating this matter with senior management in regards to a full refund on the gift cards or a complaint will be issued with ACCC if they are unable to refund or secure stock through there supplier.

They have advised they will be issuing the gift card and have placed me on the waiting list as they have asked the supplier if they can get more stock.

It will take them a week according to DJ to get a response.
    Wait and see the response

    • Mine just got cancelled as well. I called LG and was advised that they have stock so it is crap that they can't source new units. I believe they realised that they had sold it too cheap plus with the cash back they were making a loss so they are just cancelling rather than fulfilling the order.

I complained and this is the response I received. Not happy.

    Dear xxxxxxxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting David Jones Online regarding your recent online shopping experience. Firstly please accept our sincerest apologies for any frustration or inconvenience caused.

May I kindly advise that we have recently experienced technical difficulties within our Online store due to the increased traffic on our website, as a result our stock system may not accurately reflect true stock levels within our online fulfilment center thus prompting the stock error/fulfilment error you have encountered on this occasion.

However, we are currently liaising with our buying department in an effort to source the item for you at the price you have originally paid, once a response or out come is reached in regards to this matter one of our team will be in contact to advise.

    • I got a similar email on Saturday and then received the cancellation email this morning.

    • I got the exact same email from them as well. Let's see if they come through with the TVs.

  • Can anyone confirm this price was available in store?

Should be an easy argument to make back to the online team that you would have bought instore if you'd known there'd be issues and you're still happy for a store to fulfill the order

  • +1

    Has anyone received any updates?

Judging by the online reviews with a average score of 1, this appears to be common practice with David Jones which is very concerning considering they are a large retailer.

I probably wouldn't have placed an order if I had read the reviews prior to purchasing.
You just don't expect that from a larger retailer

  • +1

David Jones are doing themselves no favours trying to survive their competition by handling this in an exceptionally poor manner. It is one thing to sell something out of stock, but another to ask customer's for a photo of credit card and driver's license for payment validation, only then to cancel it.

Despite some incremental attempts to improve their web experience, it's clear they are unable to cope with any surges or increased demand from consumers. They don't value their online channel and after consistently poor experiences I wonder why I even bother. I've had over $2,000 worth of orders refunded as out-of-stock this year and judging by comments here I am not alone.

    • Generally how long did it take for you to receive your refunds?

      • About 5 days from notification of refund to be processed

        • Reading the reviews at productreview.com.au I have zero faith in David Jones and will never consider shopping there again. Just want my refund so I can purchase elsewhere. Absolute dogs. I don't know how they've gotten away with this for so long. I'm down 2K, but others are down 3.5. Ridiculous.

  • +2

I received my refund today. Absolutely horrific experience with David Jones. They have not replied to either of my responses.

If anyone finds any legitimate LG C8 deals, please be sure to share :) Videopro eBay, I'm looking at you ;)

  • For those who had this debacle with the LG C8 55, with today's eBay 20% off you can get it for 2070 shipped. At David Jones it would have been 2049 with shipping included anyway.

    • Which store? All I've found is jacked up prices. Could you post the link? Cheers

      Great!

Did you receive a call / email today DarthRichie ?

  • +1

I also received the "incorrectly cancelled" email, so I went into JB on the weekend to look at my new prize. A sales guy approached me and I started chatting about the David Jones debacle. He asked the price, went and checked, and could almost price match. I ended up buying the 65" from JB for $3,570 based on the original DJ invoice. He was aware the purchase had also been cancelled by DJ. I was happy to pay the extra $71 as I don't really trust DJ anymore.

  • Oh F.F.S.

Thanks to Zinga77 for the idea, I contacted LG and they say yes, the tv is still available.

I gave up on DJ's. Ended up buying the TV via the ebay Stan Cash deal which had a $300 gift card included. Received the TV two days ago and it is awesome.

  • +1

received another email from DJ saying sourcing alternative model… possibly E8 at the same price? cant wait though- DJ have stuffed me around royally. pulled trigger just now on the C8 appliance central ebay deal expiring today- 3472 inclusive of delivery to melbourne 1% cashback. looking forward to this TV! appreciate regular posting from aspirepranesh on this TV. very helpful

  • Unfortunate all the stuff ups for everyone here. I managed to get one of the 65" C8 from this deal via 10% gift cards, must've got in on what little stock they had. It took 2 weeks to deliver and the whole time I was worried they'd cancel on me and leave me with $3500 of gift cards!!

Although my shopback was rejected for using gift cards to purchase it though, so not as cheap as initially thought.

    • I was in the same boat as you - On Black Friday I bought $3500 worth of gift cards for 10% off, went via CR for an extra 10% off, making the total around $2975.

Bought from TGGs eBay on Monday, received an email from DJs proposing the TV or refund to my debit card…I opted for the refund and received the entire amount, so I managed to get the TV for $2905!

Interesting turn of events with DJs!
