      • Got my email finally that my card has officially been approved and on it's way.

        • I got approved then declined after the welcome pack, called the guy and he was like confused their system is a mess.

This is worse than westpac and that was a mess already. So over these guys ffs. On the phone now, at least the guy is helpful even if St george is total trash.

Never again with this shit indeed.

Yep holy shit 6 figure income, very low LVR on mortgage and declined. Dude on phone was so confused because everything looked fine to him but the system rejected me despite approving earlier LOL. F this. Wasted a 15k ping on my credit file rip.

          • @fishball: Me too! Got approved; welcome pack & activation code sent out. Didn't receive the card as fast as I expected, so called up to enquire, was told I had been mistakenly approved. Despite this was still sent the credit card - but unable to activate it. No one able to tell me WTF happened. Going through the official complaint process at present, next step a review by a Customer Advocate…

            • @Clarafina: Any luck with your complaint? I am on the same boat and planning to log a complaint as well

              • @hc02225: There’s a really long wait for a review of complaints (haha surprise surprise given how many they’re probably receiving!). I’ve been told I will be contacted by a CA on Dec 31.

                • @Clarafina: Thanks. Please keep us updated. I have just logged a complaint and will provide updates as well.
I don’t mind if it was rejected in the 1st place, but not when it was approved then someone randomly just declined our applications (perhaps due to running out of cards or more likely, due to the large number of applicants and they don”t want to give out free Qantas points anymore).
Anyway, I have also asked a number of my friends who are in the same situation to log a complaint.
I think it is important to let them know how many potential customers they have already upset because of their stupid action.

                  • @hc02225: @hc02225 How's your complaint going?
I finally spoke to a Customer Advocate today. I was told that my card had been mistakenly declined. They had seen that I had previous had a Westpac CC (prob with a $15k+ limit) but hadn't been bothered to check that in fact it had been closed since April 2018!!! She apologised for the error & said it was absolutely their fault.
Interestingly, I found that one of the professional groups I am in has a Westpac liaison officer based interstate. I was able to apply again, through her, & was approved on Dec 22. Surprise surprise I still haven't received the card or any paperwork!!!
The customer advocate said she would give me an extra 20,000 QFF points for the hassle. This is in addition to the 80,000 points as part of the promotion, plus the liaison officer I applied through said she'd waive the annual fee.

                    • @Clarafina: Thanks for the update, Clarafina and great to hear that you have a positive outcome at the end. : )

I made my complaint (via their online feedback form) back on 15/12/18 and received a call back from them just before Christmas. But unfortunately, the staff was not able to provide any details as to their approval criteria. I am planning to go to the next level (i.e. Customer Advocate) but am currently on leave (away from Australia) and won't be back till end of January. So I guess I will continue when I am back.

Yep, painful as hell. Never, ever again with this shit.

  • Applied and approved within 24hrs, not bad at all

    • I was happy with the quick turnaround too, less than a 1 week from applying to get the card

    • Received welcome package today, so far all good

  • Theres a lot of paperwork that comes with the card. I can't see anywhere where it says annual fee waived first year or the bonus points? Has anyone come across it in their paperwork?

    • +1

it's not on the paperwork, I called them as soon I received the paperwork and they said not too worry because it's a general documentation

    • That's crazy. All I got was a single piece of paper with my card and some basic info. Could be because I was had the westpac card previously.

  • +3

Approved last week and now today notified that I was approved "prematurely" and I now need to give them 3 months proof of income, proof of savings and a photocopy of my passport. Their customer service is atrocious!

    • +1

Me too. What the hell? Been using the credit card and today it wouldn't work. These guys are the worst. NEVER again.

Never experienced such shitty customer service in my life.

      • +2

I also have very bad experience with them. : (

  • +4

initially i got conditionally approved for 15k by applying online, then they asked for payslips and banking details. After which i didn't hear from them again until I received an email asking to continue my application online. Tried to login with the details they provided in the email, which didn't work. Gave them a call and asked why the login didn't work for the application and they just said you were declined. I tried to enquire why but they were not very helpful and just kept telling me they don't know why and they can't tell me even if they did.

I had a really good credit score before application, but i did have a coles mastercard and the westpac platinium visa/amex card.

What really pisses me off is they didn't contact me to inform me that the application was denied; no email, no letter, no phone call

    • Well that sucks, I always wondered about this credit score thing.
Have you checked your credit score lately? Just via Finder or the likes

    • Same here. Received an approved email a few days ago and suddenly received a SMS message this morning asking me to call them regarding my application. I called them and they told me that my application has been declined but without reasons. : (

      My Credit score is "excellent".

    • Yup I agree. They kept asking for my payslips and my employment contract to prove my salary. My contract show how much I get paid per hourly but they still wouldn't accept that as they want as per annum even though the contract still state I am a full time employer lol.
I pretty much given up when I spoke to the overseas call centre and I was thinking to myself if this is my experience with St George bank applying for a simple credit card, then I rather decline my application. I eventually cancelled my application after nearly 2 weeks of nonsense and signed up with the Qantas Premier Platinum Credit Card last week and got approved yesterday.

      • Similar things happened to me, I work full time and provided payslips but they said it wasn't enough info or something. I honestly have no idea what they are doing, it was a total mess. They were never this bad back in 2012 when I had a CC with them.

      • I should’ve read all the comments before applying… Been waiting for a few days after sending in all the required documents and heard nothing back.

How fast was the approval process for the Qantas Premier card?

What’s the minimum income requirement and minimum credit limit?

        • +1

There's two Qantas Premier card;QANTAS PREMIER EVERYDAY and QANTAS PREMIER PLATINUM. I with with the QANTAS PREMIER PLATINUM. For the Qantas Premier Platinum, the min credit limit is 6k and min income is 35k
You can see the difference between the two cards on www.qantasmoney.com/‎ and on top of my head, the Premier everyday card had lower annual fee,l;ower Qantas points earning and much lower Qantas bonus points once the spending has been met.
When I applied for the Premier Platinum, it took me just a week and half from application submission till I received my card. Quite happy with that outcome when comparing to the St George process.

  • Been taking forever for the card to arrive in the mail…. I was approved Saturday 24th, the welcome pack with all the documents arrived in the mail yesterday and still no card for activation =/ Does the 4 months start from the date of activation, application or date they send it via snail mail?

    • I had to pick up my card from local branch. The welcome pack came in the mail.

      • really? did you receive a call or anything?

        • +1

yes they left a voicemail. They set up online banking etc and activated the card for me.

      • Can you select to pick up the card from the local branch?

I don't trust Auspost for delivery of credit cards.

        • Who do you think delivers the card to the branch? :P

      • Mine should come to my address as I'm a St George customer and have previously been ID by staff at a branch…. I reckon its just the snail mail =/

  • +1

First and last account with St George for me, customer service is awful.
Went to branch to collect card. Took over an hour - bank had been closed for 30 mins by the time I left.
First they couldn't find card, then when they found it they lost some paperwork.
Then the C/S operator who was doing it got in a muddle with her PC and passed me to someone else.
The next teller screwed up the activation and called the manager over.
In the end there were 4 people standing around screen telling each other how to activate a card.
Then I asked for D/debit form to automatically pay the entire balance each month.
They couldn't find the form, then when they did they printed off wrong pages, and on and on it went.
Would have taken me 2 mins to activate card if they had sent to my home address.
No wonder bank branches are closing if this is the level of customer service you get.

    • +1

Me too, once this is done. I am out. No more St. George for me.

  • -2

    I am buying iphone XS

    • Ok!

    • +1

      Thanks for telling us

  • Conditionally approved and sent in all requested documents.

They can’t reject my application if the pay slip and rental income etc all match the application right?

    • If they match… I don’t see why not.

      • As per my experience, they can, and they will! I was not just conditionally approved, but after docs sent through I was approved, with the activation code & card sent to me in the mail. Apparently I was mistakenly approved…going through the complaint process now…

  • +3

I've been going in circles with St George Bank. I've sent in the required documents 3 times and phoned up twice. I keep getting SMS to remind me to send in documents when I've sent it 3 times. The operators are so clueless, worst customer service ever. Seriously incompetent bank.

  • +1

My application is approved and I've advised my card is being delivered by post in 5 working days. I thought I elected my preferred branch in my application to collect my card in order to save time!. It has been over 10 days and I'm still waiting for my card to arrive so this has been the worst experience compare to the 4 major banks which generally takes < 10 days from time of application.

  • Approved on 22 Nov, recieved the big welcome back in the mail a few days after.
No sign of any card yet… reading the comments approve it might be worth a call. I'm sure the welcome pack suggested the card will follow in the mail a few days later (not at a branch).

    • Same. Received a welcome pack and waiting for the card.

      • Also waiting on card. It's now been 8 business days. I'll wait until Monday and follow it up.

FYI; I'm an existing SG customer.

        • +1

Called them on Wednesday night… apparntly card was issued last week and it can take '5-10 business days'.
I'm suspecting something is wrong with wherever / whoever dispatches these cards… its not only me it seems to be everyone here in this post.

          • @ezza: Omg.. card finalllllly received today!

  • +2

ooof the comments are making me not want to bite on this one.

    • same but the points is tempting.

      • Yah, waiting on westpac points so I need a new card to keep the game going… but I don't want to talk to people / have to fill out stuff lol.

  • Just a question on the qantas points, the points you earn per spend with your card, do they come into your frequent flyer account the following month or as soon as you spend it?

    • +1

I was told 90 days after meeting minimum spend. The guy I spoke to was a little clueless so take that with a grain of salt.

  • +7

Applied, got conditionally approved, emailed documents, received final approval. Branch called me to come pick up the card. When I turned up there was a hold on the card and the clueless branch rep had to wait on hold with the cards team for about 30 minutes only to tell me that they were requesting payslips and three months of bank statements. The card had already arrived and was right there on the counter.

This reeks of incompetence. Stay away.

  • Where does it show how many points you have earned..I picked up the card and made a few purchases however it doesnt show on internet banking how many points ive earned..Can anybody pls direct me? thanks

    • I asked someone from Qantas online chat about this. For the normal everyday points per dollar, they said it can take 30-60 days.

      • Thanks for the heads up..I’ll keep an eye out on my qantas account

    • i would assume you'll get the points once the statement from st george is generated.

  • +3

Worst customer experience ever. I got conditional approval for 15k, then they asked for payslips. Then I got a mail to register online. Later, they asked for two more months of payslips after which there was no news for two weeks.

Today I called them in and was notified that my application was rejected. First time ever getting an application rejected, and getting an unnecessary potential dent in the credit score! My score has been excellent and even got a refinance recently done.

First and last time with StGross. They are worst than Wastepack.

  • Approved 7 days ago. Got my welcome pack today. Called bank today and no sign of card

  • Everything went quite smoothly for me. Approved in one business day, got the welcome pack the next day and the card 8 business days later.

  • +1

Appears it is still available via the direct link but fee free for first year is no longer available via Qantas Points?

    • I was just about to apply for my partner :( will have to wait next free offer then
from the link in the text still says $0

    • Edit. Reported to mods

  • Not sure where they are sending the cards from. Been more than a week after receiving welcome letter but no sign of the card yet.

    • Same. I've phoned St George and they confirmed they had sent the card but couldn't provide tracking or anything.

    • Strange. Mine arrived the day after the letter.

  • Received my card and activated successfully, but in online banking I am still getting a message to send in my payslips

    • Did you receive your card this morning? Do you mind tell us your timeline?
I'm still waiting for the card.
Applied 21/11, Approved 22/11, Welcome pack few days later, no card yet.

      • +1

Suggest you call them - they seem to need a lot of prompting.

      • Applied on 24/11. Received welcome pack on 29/11. Received card on 3/12

  • Easiest and quickest card approval process I have experienced..

Only thing they said I have to go to st George branch but it’s actually bank of Melbourne (in melb).. would have been nice for them to actually communicate that without me asking…..

  • +1

Just WOW! I'd been approved, 2 payslips sent in. Received the welcome pack, 10 days later the card shows up, today. I've just been on the phone with them because when I went to activate it it went through to a customer service rep, didn't simply ask me for the access code. Sat on hold for 20 mins and now I have to send in two more payslips, send in a bank statement with my salary showing on it, a copy of my drivers license and a copy of my Medicare card!? WTH!?

    • +1

Same as me, got approved. Welcome pack. Card didn't show up so I ask and turns out their system declined me after the fact???????? Wasted 30 mins on the phone with the dude, poor guy didn't know what was happening either.

Clown fiesta really, stay away unless you want to risk a 15k ping to your credit file.

  • Received my card just an hour ago.

Applied 21/11, Approved 22/11, Welcome pack few days later, Card 7/12.

    • Mine arrived today, same timeline as yours. Activation went smoothly, already used for bills I was saving for this :)

  • May I ask if the supplimentary card holder eligible to register
and get the Qantas Club Complimentary Invitations?

  • Applied 25/11, Approved 26/11, Welcome Pack 27/11 (dated 26/11)….no Card yet…

  • Applied 4/12, supplied all documents 5/12.

    Heard nothing back.

  • Got my card nearly exactly 5 business days after the welcome pack.
Does anyone know how to go about requesting a second card for an additional cardholder?

    • I tried to find online without much luck, I asked one of their team member of the team didn't get much either…I think I found one form eventually but then we need to go to a branch…so my partner out it on his phone (works on Google pay) and I had the physical one that's how we spent the $$$

    • I went through the process here: https://www.stgeorge.com.au/additionalcardholder

The information was on the paperwork under where the card was stuck.

  • Silly question but how do we transfer funds onto this card from another bank account? Do we need to open a savings account (to get a bsb and account number) and transfer money to that, and then move it into the credit account?

    • Easiest way is probably to pay by BPay from an existing savings account.

      • +1

Using what details? Biller code and reference number?

        • Yes pay by Bpay using the biller code and reference number!

        • +1

Wait for your first monthly statement, all BPAY details will be there for you to pay.

  • Has anyone else noticed that even though the application site said $0 first year annual fee saving $279, the detailed terms provided separately from the card state it will be charged, just at the end of the year (or if account closed prior), and $279 is definitely payable? I was so relieved to finally get the card I didn't notice this wording until after activating.

Has anyone else has found the same?

    • PS - saw similar prior post above, though there doesn't seem clarity on the situation?

    • I’m not 100% sure, but I don’t think this is anything new, other banks also send out standard documents, without changing the annual fee figure, for first year fee waived account promotions. Plus, when you apply through this St George card, the first page of the application says “Affiliate AmpSig Qantas 80k FYFW” - which I assume means first year fee waived. If you’re still not confident, call them as they can check if the promotion is applied on your account.

    • The documents they sent are generic documents, so the annual fee is on it.
Though the offer doesn't have a fee
"#$0 annual card fee promotion: Available when you apply for a new Amplify Signature Qantas Rewards credit card between 20th November 2018 and 23 January 2019 and make your first purchase within 12 months of card approval. The first annual card fee debited on the 12 months anniversary of the first transaction on your account and annually thereafter"

    • I actually called the CS to confirm this… They confirmed that the first year is free…

  • Anyone knows, if don't have payslips, are they accept bank statements or NOT?
Wages credit into ST George account.

  • +4

Got conditionally approved pending sending 2 payslips which I sent promptly. Since then no updates no letter. Sent to get status update and it comes as card declined. Stay away from St George and Westpac that will end up creating dents in your credit history and no communication what so ever.

  • Not a previous St George customer. 6 days after conditional approval the card came in the mail. No welcome pack. Perth.

    • Did you send in proof of income and identification?

Did they give you a formal approval first?

      • 2 payslips is all I had to send. Few days later got an email saying I’m conditionally approved. Then the waiting began for the card to arrive

        • I got instant conditional approval after applying online.

Then the exit screen told me to send through pay slips, bank statements and rental statements. I got an sms the next day asking for ID.

          Now’s it’s been 3 days and I’ve heard nothing.

  • Can anyone tell me when is the first payment cycle from date of opening the account? How many weeks?
