                  • @Tech5: Jesus! What a deal! I'd have taken 5000 haha

                    • @chriise: I know! I'll be back again at the end of the month to cancel. I wonder if they will offer more. It is possibly due to how much spend I have on my main Platinum card

  • Got approved for this 2 days ago on the $179 deal. Called up St George and they won't waive the fee but they said I could withdraw my application and re-apply through this link.. Thoughts?

    • If you're prepare to waste another credit check.

  • Anyone know the cost of getting an additional card linked to the same account? I.e. for the wife?

  • 0.75 per $ :-(

    • Plus "10% Birthday Bonus" (which is on spend only, not other bonuses).

    • Better than most I think, with the exception of the ANZ black.

      • +2

1 point per $1 spend is standard

  • I might be blind but I can't see any info on if you can get a second card for an additional card holder.

  • Tried to apply but got rejected automatically ?

Does it help when you put the other credit cards you have with different banks or that is not an “extra”?

Should I just not tell I have another 2 credit cards when applying ? Or just let it go and better be honest.

    Thanks!

    • +2

I mean, you could not be truthful, but it would be fraudulent and a breach of the declarations you are making to them. Further, it could easily be uncovered in a short time when comprehensive credit reporting comes in.

They probably won't check, so you probably won't get caught, but up to you if it is worth the risk.

      • +1

        They probably won't check

All credit cards and their limits show on your credit file so they will check. Plus if you don’t tell them upfront and you are conditionally approved but then get knocked back after credit file checked then you have just wasted a credit check.

        • They will when CCR is properly being utilised, however I don't think many (if any) banks are consuming it yet. All banks are transferring data to the credit bureau, but not all data, so nobody (that I know of) is relying on an incomplete picture.

They would have to go back and check, which is what I am saying I don't think they will.

To meet the the minimum spend, does this include BPAY as I tend to Bpay my bills

  • Does it matter that I have three active credit cards already? Combined limit of 30k.

    • Wasn't an issue for me, but it will depend on your salary. Credit Cards used in serviceability assessments now have to assume you pay the whole balance off in 3 years, which with interest means that will suck up over 10k of your annual pay in their calculations. Add in tax, mortgage, the new card, expenses, etc and the income required to service increases quite a lot.

  • I signed up for their card on friday but through bank of melbourne, do I qualify for this?

  • What's the best way to determine if you have held a credit card with them in the last 12 months?

    • +3

Check the date on your confirmation letter they sent when the account was closed. Then keep a list of these dates on your phone for easy reference.

    • +1

      Or a 'credit card' spreadsheet.

    • could be easy to just call them up. I did call ANZ to fins out the same

  • Thanks OP. I cant seem to find what the interest free period is? Is it the common 55 days?

  • I guess I’m not elegible for it. Tried to apply 3 times, each of them took longer to think about all my propertie values etc.
But I guess since the system automatically rejected me the first time, I’m on their “black list”?

I have a commbank, westpac and American Express credit card, I don’t know if that also doesn’t help.

Should I give up or do you think I’m wasting credit checks on this? I don’t want it to affect if I want to get any other cards on a future!

    • Ring them up instead

    • Yes the other credit cards will be impacting you. The lenders use the credit limit of all cards to determine what your possible monthly repayments could be on those cards (even if your balance is zero). For example if your combined credit card limits are $30000 then they can calculate expected monthly repayment of $900 which would be reducing your ‘spare cash’ to service the new credit card.

  • Geez, the form won't take my long surname?

    Hi All,

I Already have a Qantas frequent flyer number can I use the existing number? Do you select Amplify Qantas or Amplify Rewards under rewards program when applying?

  • +2

conditionally approved….. First time with one of these cards so lets see how it goes.

  • Thanks OP! My journey for free points has just begun

  • Noob question. Can I apply on this one without a QFF account yet? It's asking for the QFF number and I head over to QFF to apply but it incurs a $90 application fee.

Edit: Left it blank. Guess they will give me one. Conditionally approved. Thanks OP.

  • +1

    Applied. Conditional approval.

  • Does anyone know if getting a pre-approval for a home loan negatively impact ones credit rating?

    • yes it does

  • Nice, conditionally approved, now to spend $4K in 3 months…

  • How long will it take for the card to be delivered once approved ?

    • The text I received once approved said they will send card and welcome pack within 5 business days. Not sure if they send to my address or my nearest branch because in the banking app it says it has been sent to my nearest branch.

      • Cool, thanks!

Planning a big purchase early December and hope to put on this card.

      • It said to me they will send to the nearest bank but it came by post to my home 3 days after I got the text that my application has been approved.

  • approved. Should be in the mail within 5-10 business days :)

    • You received an approval on Saturday ?

      • Yup at like 4pm. Came through via text and email.

        • If you don't mind me asking, when did you apply ? And did you have to email any documents ?

          • @HardQuiz: Thursday night at like 8pm. I emailed 2x payslips and 3x rental income receipts about 5 minutes after I received the conditional approval to the email provided. It's worth mentioning I'm a ST George customer with all security/loans with them, so they have all my particulars already.

            • @Dundundunnnn: That explains it I guess. I had an account with them but closed it 3 years ago, so mine may take longer to assess.

  • Same as above. Applied on Thursday night, Approved Saturday afternoon, and now just waiting for the card to come in the mail :)
Only difference is that I was not previously a St George customer.
Was a bit worried because my two jobs combined don't put me above $75k, but it worked out alright.

  • Applied Wednesday night, conditionally approved, and approved Thursday 2pm.
Card will be delivered at a branch within 5 business days.

  • Hey guys, just want to check if anyone knows whether people on maternity leave is able to apply? ie, the person would otherwise be on a permanent full-time job with a suitable income but currently has no set income.

    • i wouldn't think so because you need the payslips unless she gets paid maternity leave from work with payslips.

  • Applied and approved on wednesday night, no confirmation whether more docs are required. no update besides being processed.

  • Can anyone confirm there's no fee for choosing Amplify Qantas over Amplify Rewards? For eg with my Westpac card, choosing Altitude Rewards has no fee but choosing to accumulate Qantas points, I think I pay $50/yr to use that program?

  • Thanks OP! Approved 24 hours after applying.

  • Just collected my card! :-)

    • same :) and arrived home I have my welcome package, though on it there is $279 so I might send them an email to ask about it

      • I collected mine at the branch. Got only my card. Activated and set up direct debit in the bank itself.

      • +1

called them and they confirm no fee, it's just generic documents that are sent out.
Additional cardholder is free, and we should be able to apply online for it, but the person wasn't 100% sure and the only form I found was requiring to go to a branch.
St George card is not supported on apple pay but it is on google pay.

  • Approved. Thanks OP.

  • How come this deal is so much more popular than the Westpac one? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/401343

    • Westpac - 2 credit enquiries and $6,000 min spend ($3,000 Amex + $3,000 MC)
St George - 1 credit enquiry and $4,000 min spend

    • +2

I think heaps of people already did the westpac and were looking for a new one :)
the 75k min income might be a stopper too, where here doesn't seem to be a strict requirement

  • +1

Got approved without having to provide any pay slips or documents. Not sure from a security perspective this is a good thing.

  • approved and received the welcome letter.
it stated the annual fee of 279 in the credit card description, does it mean still waived or not? cant find the waived information in the agreement.
just confirming.. as my application got some issue and I went to the branch to fix it, not sure if it change the free annual fee as well.

    • +1

I called them and they said no fee will be applied, but the documents they send are generic :)

      • +2

If you look at the wording:
Initial annual card fee - debited 12 months from the date of the statement …

Total fees and charges which are definitely payable $279.00
        ———
This seem to mean that they will charge you $279 in the 2nd year even if you cancel before 12 months.

        • When I went in, I saw on the computer, no annual fee this year or the next. Had $0 and $0 next to the columns.

        • This means that they will charge you the annual fee 12 months after your first purchase. As long as you cancel the card before that date, they can’t charge you the annual fee

  • Body Corporate fees paid via deft will count towards min spend yes?

  • Sorry if it has been asked before.

I am not a Qantas club member. Before I apply for this card to get the 80K points, do I need to become a Qantas Club member (or any other membership with Qantas for that matter)?

  • Free money

  • Thanks OP.

Got conditionally approved. Sent them my 2 most recent payslips last night.

    • Approved, card to arrive in 5 business days

  • +1

I applied last Wednesday and conditionally approved. Email 2x pay slips immediately and haven't heard anything since. New customer. Anyone else have similar experience?

    • yep i'm in the same boat. Just waiting for cards to arrive I hope…

      • Same.

      • Checked my mailbox this morning and had the welcome pack with 'card on the way' letter… application still says 'conditionally approved' pending income documents. Pretty strange…

        • same with me - status is conditionally approved, but the first pack came through in the mail. waiting for the card now.

          • @deanwan: I am still waiting.

            Conditionally approved.

            Have send them the payslip.

  • Can you do a 0% balance transfer after 3 months? Does it have to be done at the time of application?

    • I don't believe this card comes with a balance transfer option.

  • How annoying, why don't they send the card via mail? Since when do you have to go to the branch to pick it up???

    • Mine was delivered - maybe it's a flag on your account?

      • They said we don't send to home addresses for the first card due to security. Subsequent cards, no problem. Makes no sense, but whatever.

  • So, council rates…I rang and they said they are eligible as it isn't a 'government spend'. But Qantas Platinum didn't give me points as they call councils a government spend.

Anyone have a solid classification of a "government spend"

    • +1

Best way to go about this is to setup PayPal and pay via BillPay which is through Australia Post but yeah normally purchases that don't normally count, do count through BillPay.

      • yep, yep. Just an FYI, this approach doesn't work with Virgin cards

      • Yes I do this a lot and it counts for Qantas FF points.

      • Does pay via BillPay have surcharge?

  • +1

Emailed my payslips 3 days ago. Got a txt reminder yesterday to provide payslip. Painful!

    • +1

I've been going round in circles with them, same txt and email reminders about sending in my payslips (which I've already done).
      So painful.

    • +1

Good to know I am not the only one, submitted my payslips AND last 3 month transactions still getting those SMS 2 days after to submit the docs lol.
