    Okay, so theory..

Step 1: Buy $4k of prepaid/re-loadable VISA card on St George card - fulfilling minimum spend.

    Step 2: ???

Step 3: Credit card paid off with VISA cards.

    Step 4: QANTAS points.

So what is step 2? How does one transfer that money into another medium to pay a credit card bill with?

    • I don't think you can pay off your credit card bill with another credit card. Or a prepaid card.

On a side note, first statement in, points for the months in but no bonus, so time to wait few more statements…

      • +1

I think you can pay a credit card bill with another credit card but the interest is applied immediately. It may depend on the bank but I mistakenly used my credit card to transfer to a bank account for a bill, so I'd assume interest is calculated the same way.

I read in the T&Cs the other week that points are issued 12 weeks after $4k spend.

    • Spend money for that friend of yours who only use debit cards and get reimbursed in cash

  • Has anyone received their 80k QF points or 2 x QF complimentary lounge passes (in the online QF portal) yet?
I am waiting to receive my 2nd statement and have reached/exceeded the $4k spend in the 1st month already.

    • any ideas on how to meet the spend quickly?

      • +3

        Cashrewards - Wish e-Gift card

    • I looked it up after getting the card and the points are issued 12 weeks after $4k spend. This is the first I've heard about the 2 X QF lounge passes. Where did you see that?

      • Oops didn't even see that in the post. Had to call them to find out. You need to apply for it at loungepass.stgeorge.com.au and it goes onto your credit card. I actually think it is linked to your credit card but that's what the lady said.

So if you're going to churn the card after getting the 80k points like I am then it's probably not going to help.

        • +1

Sheesh didn't even realise you had to register for the QF lounge passes. Just did it.

          • @ezza: I ll wait a bit ti order mine as they are only valid for 12months so need to be aligned with next travels

            • @Gooddeal21: yeah agree… but then if you wait and say months down the path you call - youll get an agent who has no clue what the offer was about and go around in circles.

I've logged mine to ensure I get them :) what i dont use i usually sell on ebay a few months before it expires.

            • @Gooddeal21: The lady on the phone said you get them every year so if you stay with St George you’ll get 2 more after your anniversary date. I asked what is the expiry date of the lounge passes but she couldn’t say if it was 12 months from activation or if it’s up until your anniversary date.

              • @bobwokeup: Thanks but I'm not planning on staying with them as I aim to avoid paying annual fee.
From experience with anz and westpac the lounge were for 12 months. Since I might travel internationally in Jan next year I ll wait few more weeks. First statement in no points so I'm with them for another month at least :-)

                • @Gooddeal21: Yeah fair enough. I'm going to do the same. Once I get my bonus QFF points I'll sign up for the passes then cancel.

                  • +1

@bobwokeup: Got the QF passes in my QF complimentary acc - https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/the-qantas-club/…

Has an expiry of 12 Feb 2020 (so 12 months from their issue from the looks of it).

Also received a generic email from QF:

                    Dear XXXX,
Thank you for choosing Qantas Rewards with your St.George Amplify Signature credit card.

We’re pleased to let you know that your two Qantas Club Complimentary Lounge Invitations are now available for you to use with your next eligible flight^.

How to access your Qantas Club Complimentary Lounge Invitations

1 . Log in to the Qantas Complimentary Invitations Portal using your Frequent Flyer details. If you have not created an online Qantas Frequent Flyer account, please visit qantas.com.au to set up.
2 . Link your invitation to your eligible flight*. Once you have logged in, proceed to link your invitations to an eligible flight booking at least 24 hours before you arrive at the airport to ensure you can gain lounge access.
For more information on your Complimentary Lounge Invitations visit the Complimentary Invitations Portal.

You can use your invitations at Qantas Club and Qantas operated International Business Lounges in Australia and overseas when travelling on an eligible flight^, prior to the expiry date displayed on the invitation.

We hope that you enjoy your journey.

  • Re the qantas lounge passes - can anyone confirm that they don't send you the actual tickets and instead load them to your card? With ANZ they send you the tickets

    • +1

I spoke to a customer service rep and she said it’s loaded onto your card. Pretty sure she means it’ll get loaded into your QFF account but you need your credit card to prove you’re still a customer.

      • +1

No need to still have the credit card, they are loaded in the website and then you link them to your booking.

        • Oh okay, thanks. Will sign up before cancelling then.

    • +1

You need to register your card on the Qantas Lounge portal

      loungepass.stgeorge.com.au

They’ll then add them to your QFF account and it’ll last 12 months.

I have this card and can confirm the above.

      • After registering the card on the Qantas Lounge portal, can I link the passes to any QFF account? Does it have to be the QFF account thats linked to the credit card?

I would like to sell the passes as I don't think I would ever use them.

        • according to T&C you are not allowed to sell them.
Then you should be able to link to any QFF, as when you go to the portal you link them to your booking details and QFF, so could be for someone else.

  • Just been charged annual fee of $279, called and they reversed it but said they had no record of original offer. This whole process has been a nightmare.

    • In the same boat. Got charged $279. Reversed after I mentioned I have a screenshot. Denied about the offer initially.

  • I've been waiting for lounge passes to be loaded to my QFF.
I signed up to St George amplify a few months before this posted deal, still not loaded.
They keep saying,"wait 14 days more", have been doing this since end of Nov.
    Poor form.

    • +1

It took a week for mine to be loaded

      • Still waiting…..

        • Mine are showing, expiry 12 Feb 2020. Would've only taken a couple of days from when I registered.

Did you ring to ensure that your FF number is linked to your St George account?

          • @carlenet: Yes. I've been earning QFF pounts and recieved my bonus points already.
I just can't seem to get these lounge passes.

            • @Spending2Much: Did you spend some $$ on qantas ?
Lucky you for your bonus points did you get them on your first statement?

              • @Gooddeal21: My 2nd statement is due tomorrow.. i have the QF lounge passes.. hopefully the 80k points will drop in tomorrow!

                • @ezza: Mine hasn’t yet unfortunately

                • @ezza: second statement in, no bonus points yet…I ll wait next statement for the QF lounges then.

                  • @Gooddeal21: if me i will call them to confirm you have met the spending requirement.

                    • @CyberMurning: Just thought I’d let you know and save the phone call, the T&Cs state “points issued 12 weeks after $4k spend”

                      • @bobwokeup: Within*

                        • @stoodamire: Yes good point… highly doubt they'd do it sooner than 12 weeks but you never know some companies actually do the right thing by customers but they are few and far between haha

                  • @Gooddeal21: Same here, just got my second statement, no bonus points.

        • me neither

  • How long did it take you guys to receive your card in the mail after being approved? Been waiting 8 business days and still nothing..

    • Took more than one month for me.

      • Does the three month period to spend $4000 in the first three months begin on the day the application is approved, or the day the card is activated?

        • +1

just to be save, just think from the app approved. if you are new in this game, just try to spend as soon as possible.

          • @CyberMurning: Yeah but if it takes ONE month to receive the card, that's not really fair either as then you only have 2 months to spend $4000.

            • @JHoliday: took me around 5 business days (and that was during the Aus day long w/e)

              • @[Deactivated]: Finally arrived after 3 weeks.

Now I only have 9 weeks to spend $4000.

                • @JHoliday: Pretty sure it’s 12 weeks from activation. If it’s not I’d be arguing it and you always have the ombudsman to back you up.

                  • @bobwokeup: Yeah I checked with them on Facebook and they told me T&C at the bottom of the offer on the website say it is from approval date (not activation date), which seems a bit unfair since it took them 3 weeks to deliver.

Even in St George store they said it should be from activation date but they would need to check on their computers once I received the card and activated it.

                    • -1

@JHoliday: Yeah that's common sense that it should be activation date. Can't believe the card took that long. Anyway if it came down to it, you could fight that with the ombudsman if you didn't spend the $4k in time. Ask family members if you can make payments for them and they can transfer you cash.

  • +2

Got approved early December, bonus points came in with my last statement a few days ago

    • Nice!

    • lucky you, 2 statements 0 points yet

  • Has anyone received their black signature card? Instead of the ugly green?

  • +1

Just got my sign up points (got approved mid dec).

    • nice, was it at the same time as the statement or not in sync ?

      • +1

Seems to of been around the same time

        • +1

2nd statement got the points this time.
Next week will be 3rd statement for our second st George card so hopefully we get the points too.

          • @Gooddeal21: Yeah same here was surprised to see I received the bonus points so quickly. If only they had Apple Pay I'd stay with them. Once I get my lounge passes I'm cancelling. Especially now with the strict credit lending criteria I have to be super careful with the next application. Steer clear of Macquarie Bank the minimum requirements are not even close to what they expect.

            • @bobwokeup: Can you elaborate on why we need to be careful with the strict credit criteria?

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: Sure thing, even though I exceeded the minimum income requirements by more than 50% and I have a 'very good' credit rating (I checked after I submitted my application) I wasn't approved for the black credit card. I challenged that as I've never been denied for one and the only response I could get was that it doesn't meet their credit criteria.

The only thing I could think of as to why I got declined was due to the recent strict government guidelines/rules on paying the full credit limit back within 3 years, etc and that my St George card is still "active" even though I told them I'm cancelling once I get this card (it should be setup like mobiles in that once you're approved with the new company the old account is automatically cancelled or in this case any money owing is transferred over, so that card limit can't be considered in the application).

I even said fine I'll take the next card down, the Platinum, which is basically the same but a mere $2k less credit limit at $15k but that was also declined and no other options. So I raised all this with the AFCA and even though I haven't officially heard from them I can see they removed the enquiry from my credit file.

So now I've got a $6k limit on the HSBC card due to Apple Pay which will do for now and I'll hold off applying for a Black card for 6 months or so and speak to a consultant before applying. Not sure what else I can do next time to ensure I get approved, thoughts anyone?

PS if my expectations were unrealistic please let me know as I was genuinely shocked.

            • @bobwokeup: we were keen on cancelling them too, though we realised that our anz black is "expiring" soon, so we might keep at least 1 st george to keep earning qantas points until a new deal comes out, hence why we haven't requested the lounges yet.

              • @Gooddeal21: Good idea although bear in mind what I just mentioned above ;)

If you can apply in your partner's name so that the credit limit on the St George card (I'm assuming it's in your name) is not considered.

                • @bobwokeup: we applied for 2 st george, one for each then we get 80k points each, I put the limit down to $6, I ll be cancelling one of the 2 soon, and hopefully another deal is coming up :)

                  • @Gooddeal21: Ah I see, good plan. I didn't even realise you can reduce the limit. I thought $15k was the minimum so no doubt that had a big impact on my application.

                    • +1

@bobwokeup: Well we couldn't when we applied, it's only when we got the card (I read here someone did it) that we did it in case another deal was up then our limit wouldn't be too high.

                      • @Gooddeal21: Yeah very good information to know and will help the credit score. I just reduced mine to $600 as I don't use it but I'll hold onto the card for another 6 months so that I don't look like a burn and churn credit card holder (I'm still learning - I also shouldn't have applied for the Qantas passes so soon haha).

  • Anyone here received Complimentary lounge passes. I just received my Bonus Points last week. Also waiting on black card.

    Cheers

    • have you register to receive the passes? also, i dont get "waiting on black card" part. you have the card already right? my card is black by the way.

      • For some people, like me, when we applied they were out of stock on black card so we received a green card, and they ll send the black one later. Personally I don't really care

        • ooo haha never heard a bank run out of cc haha… yeah just grab the QFF and cut the card who cares.

    • IIRC - you need to sign up for the passes through https://loungepass.stgeorge.com.au/ then make a spend on the Qantas website (unless they've changed the terms since)
      Have you completed these?

      • No. I have not. Didnot know that. Will do it now. Do i have to spend money again?

    • When can i request the pass? Anyyime or need to spend with Qantas?

      • see above. i didnt know we need to spend. damn. anyone else can confirm? spend on carbon thingie will work, right?

        • +2

I didn't spend anything on the Qantas website to get my lounge passes. Just follow the link posted by render above.

        • Worked for westpac but for some had to be over $1

    • Got my black card today in the mail

  • Finally received 80k Qantas point with 3rd statement.
After the pain of applying & activating this card it’ll be my first & last experience with St George.
Time to close the account down & spend points

    • +2

Don't forget bonus 10% Birthday point if your Birthday is coming up soon and also to order qantas lounge passes.

  • Got my black card about 2.5 months after I got the temporary geeen card.

They also chucked in 1,000 bonus points for my “patience”.

    • The 1000 points will come after 12 weeks..I might cancel mine before that 🤣

      • Got the same, was wondering if they mean 1000 Qantas points?
