    • it will be in your first credit card statement

  • card finally arrived! Already put like $4k on it.

  • +2

Got the card approved on 24 Nov, request replacement on 4 Dec as I thought the card lost in mail.
The original card arrived on 6 Dec, I thought this is the replacement card, and called St.George to activate.
St.George happily activate the replacement card that hasn't arrived yet. After got declined to put the card on PayPal, I called again and they realize they've activated wrong card.

Worst customer service ever, and now I have to wait another week or two for the replacement card to arrive.
Can't they pay priority mail or express post it?
I live in Metro area too, don't know how long it will take for rural addresses.

    • I had same issues on an earlier deal…..but wait was much longer. I was even told it was sent and the later calls informed it wasn't even sent yet.

All they could offer was an extension on the time to make the 4k minimum spend.
St George is now getting cancelled.

      Terrible

      • I finally got my "temporary card" today. Apparently due to recent high demand for Amplify Signature card (read: ozbargained), they running out of card supply.

  • +1

I waited a whole week before calling them. I had been conditionally approved but didn't get even an email/txt/call to say I'll be getting my card sent so when I called the guy said I was approved and then said to pick up my card from the branch between 5-7 business days. So for those still stuck with no response regarding the card, give customer service a call to possibly speed it up.

  • Can I put a lesser credit limit of $15k and still get th bonus?

    • you can't select less than 15k

      • After I got the card and activated it I was able to lower it to 10k

        • oh good to know, how do you that ? online ?
When you apply to can't though.

  • A little off-topic but have anyone tried to 'cancel' their card just before the annual fee reverted to 270 and receive an offer from St George to waive or discount the annual fee?

    • Just give them a call prior to the fee being charged and say you'd like to cancel the card and often they'll waive the fee. If they don't, ask.

      • Yes, I am trying to find out if anyone actually got them to waive it.

First time dealing with St George.

        • someone please update

        • +1

I called them last month to cancel. 0 F's about keeping you, no offer about waive annual fee, extra points or balance transfer promo. So I closed it.

          • @starburstyellow: Thanks for the update! Guess this is expected since so many of us already have issues from the start of the application.

And their Internet Banking really needs a revamp.

  • +2

Approved on 30th Nov still haven't received the card. They say card is delivered to the branch, but branch couldn't locate it. So had to cancel the card and have ordered a replacement one. Not sure how much more I have to wait. Worst bank ever.

    • Was in a similar situation - told branch will receive the card but eventually it came in the mail

    • Same approved on 30th Nov. Rang them twice now. Told me that it was sent to my home address but has not received yet. Got told that it takes 5-7 working days but today is the 8th Working day. Going to wait till friday.

      Lets see.

Never wanted my card so badly just to spend 4K.

    • Received my replacement card today, 3 business day aftet I ordered.
Still no sign of original card. If people have been waiting for 7+ days its better to cancel the original card and order a replacement

  • Card allegedly sent on 29/11 to branch… No sign of it

    • +1

Looks like Australia post threw all the consignment from St George to bin😊

    • Same here.. sent on 30/11. Still not at branch. Branch guy ordered a new one for me today… hopefully this one will arrive in a week.

      • Exactly the same thing happened to me too… second card is being delivered to my home though.

  • Applied 4/12. Payslip sent 4/12. ID sent 5/12. Approved 12/12.

Now to wait for card to be delivered to a local branch. Sounds like a nightmare from what everyone is saying.

  • +2

Considering cancelling my card as it's taking so long. Almost two weeks since approved and feels like an absolute farce. Wouldn't have signed up knowing this.

    • +3

better wait. It has already hit your credit rating, so why cancel.

  • +2

    Applied 22/11
    Conditionally approved 22/11
    Documents (payslips) sent 22/11
    Approved 23/11
    Welcome letter 28/11 (post)
    Card arrived 29/11 (post)

  • -8

    Approved on 30/11/2018.

Received a welcome pack and activation code 5/11/2018.

Have not received the card yet.

Rang them and they said they send it to home address not bank.

They wanted me to transfer to other department for new card but i am waiting till tomorrow just incase it pops up in 2 days.

Abused the St. george on phone.

    • +2

You should never abuse front line staff. They're just doing their job. Blame the process, not the person.

Also you've lost nothing and stand to gain free points. Don't you have better things to worry about?

      • -4

Hey Buddy I said I abused St.george and their system, not the staff.

You get better things to do and read it properly!!

        Go get yourself a lesson.

    Update:
    25/11 - Applied Online
    26/11 - Approved Email
27/11 - Welcome Pack in Mail
07/12 - Cancelled Original Card and Ordered New One (Assume card lost in Mail)
10/12 - Original Card Arrived in Mail (Dated 27/11)
11/12 - New Card Arrived at Branch

    A lot of headache…

    • omg, did exactly the same!! finally got mine today from branch

  • +1

I called few mins back. Was told that, whoever got approved after 28th Nov will be receiving interim card (green color not black color) by 17th Monday. Original card will be sent later.
    Big headache.

  • it loos like it's gone now. The link leads to a new page with annual fee $179…. damn…

    • No, the $0 first year (annual fee waived) offer is still available, until 17 December 2018

  • 04/12 - Applied and submitted documents
    04/12 - Conditionally approved
13/12 - called them, apparently it's been approved and sent to branch.

Never received an email after the documents were submitted. Not even an approval email

Don't even remember asking for it to be sent to the branch.

  • +1

My first declined card. I asked why (my credit/income/assets are all good) and the only answer I could derive was "you don't have a St George bank account with any savings." That doesn't appear in the terms of service as far as I am aware and I have plenty of savings with another bank, which was included in my assets list in the application, but apparently I "need to have a St George account." I apparently have to visit a branch for reassessment. Annoyed and don't really want to, but at the same time, I've already taken the credit check hit, so now I feel like I have to make the most of it and give it a shot.

    • Same here, my application + my colleague application both got declined for the same reason. It seems they have reached quota and focus on strengthening their existing customers.

    • I have never had any st george accounts and I was approved

      • Well, update from visiting the branch was along the lines that admittedly, they also think my credit file is a bit hot, even if the overall score is good and all of my previous lines of credit are now closed. Oh well. But having said that, indeed, the first and main point they said was in the comments was that I did not have "a relationship" with the bank, ie, I did not have a transaction account. I can only speculate how their assessment algorithm works, but I get the feeling they don't really value savings if they're not in a St George account for them to have their hands on.

To make matters worse about this whole ordeal, I was sent to the branch after being advised by online support that I would have to as they can't help online. But then the branch told me "we can't help you here if you applied online." So they told me about why I was declined, but could not reassess. I wonder WHY I don't have a transaction account? (Hint: I used to, and service sucked then too.)

        • Yess they are suckersss!!!

  • Wow I have been eagerly checking my mail every day for 3 weeks since approval and they did not send me the card. I phoned up and it will be another 5-7 days for them to send me the card and then perhaps another 5 days for delivery. That doesn't give me a lot of time left to spend the $4000.

    • Yes I want to get my card before i fly off next week.'
      Hate the wait.

      Still waiting.

Been 13 days today that the card got approved.

      • Their SMS said card will be sent within 5 business days. Their email said 10 business days. So already sending conflicting messages from day one.

  • +1

I got my card 6 business days after applying online. Pretty smooth process.

Only issue is I didnt actually get the black Amplify Signature VISA Credit Card :-/

They have apparently run out of stock for the black cards because a large number of people are applying for this card. They issued me a basic looking green card for now (rewards and benefits will still be the same as the card I signed up for) and told me I will get the black Amplify Signature VISA Credit Card withing 90 days.

Their app is probably the ugliest banking app I have ever seen!

    • +2

That's disappointing. I was looking forward to owning a black card for the first time in my life haha

What does it actually say on the card you received? Still Visa Signature?

      • Nope just Visa

  • 21/11 - Applied and conditionally approved (pre-existing savings account customer)
No confirmation email or sms. I have access to internet banking and it said something like "your application is under review by Feb 2019"!
29/11 - Call them to find out what is going on. They say it's approved and the card has been sent.
    (Welcome pack never arrives)
07/12 - Card arrives in a letter dated 23/11. Activated.
12/12 - Letter arrives dated 5/12 - "Activate your card as soon as possible"

  • Has anyone who was approved on 30/11 or after received their card

    • Not yet.

I have received the welcome pack with activation code but not the card.

      Are you on same boat?

    • Not yet. They seem to have lost the fitst dispatch. Better report it and order replacement card

      • +1

        No. They havenot lost it.

No need to report. The volume is just too high that the estimated delivery is late.

You do not want to be like our fellow bargainers ordering a new one and cancel the first one just for the first card to arrive to your home address the very next day.

I have a week till i fly off.

I am waiting till very last day in the hope of spending my 4K right before i fly and claim all my TRS.

        Wish me luck.

        • good luck.

        • +1

yep….patience is the key here….xmas time and Auspost, need I say more

    • I got mine yesterday (13th Dec). I applied last week (9th Dec). Didnt get the black card though because they were out of stock for those. Got a temporary green card. See my comment just 1 node above this one.

  • I feel lucky here compared to all the bad experiences
Applied (for my partner) 6/12 , sent 2 payslips straight away
    conditionnally approved
    Approved 8/12
Card received at home 14/12 (green one as they have shortage in the black one)
Activated online and now ready to spend $$$

    • wahhhh…

Yayyyy Just got mine as well today in the mail.

      Cheers

    • Likewise - mine was only a few days from application to using my card

  • +2

Approved 29/11. Finally got my text from the branch on 14/12 to pick up the card. They'd better have it tomorrow

    • Got the card. Shame there's no salutation on it.

      • Did you receive the green or black coloured card?

        • Got the green. They said I'd have to come back to pick up the black card in 90 days. Refused to mail it to me

          • @Save Medicare: A lot of people must’ve applied for this deal for them to run out of the black plastic.

Will they call you when the black one arrives? 3 months is a long time to wait for what we originally signed up for.

            • +1

@zzzman: They'll send me a text when it's ready. I'm not too fussed honestly. The green card is pretty ugly but even their black card isn't as nice as say the ANZ black cards and my credit cards hardly leave my wallet anyway. I mostly tap my phone.

It's just a shame the card took so long to get to me. Now only have 2.5 months to spend $4000

              • @Save Medicare: I thought the 3 months start the day you activate the card, not from when they approve it?

                • +1

@zzzman: When you apply for a new Amplify Signature credit card and spend at least $4,000 on eligible purchases made with the card within 90 days of card approval.

  • +7

Kinda BS how they said this offer would expire in January and they pull it early December.

    • Yeah - noticed that with a few other card deals out there too

  • Just very bad experience with them. Call up the call center indicating all approved, no extra document required. Got the approval letter in mail to pick up from local branch. Call up to check if the card arrived, only to find out i need to send bank statements which i have not been informed thru out. Withdraw my application rather than dealing with the idiots.

  • Reading all the comments of long delays with cards….

I signed up on an earlier deal few months ago.

Was told repeatedly it was sent…to keep waiting.
Eventually they said it wasn't sent yet and needed to confirm delivery address.

I got an extension on the minimum spend time, from when I actually received the card, not from when I was approved and card was supposedly sent out.

Seems nothing has changed much here

  • Update:
    4/12- Applied Online
5/12 - Sent in all documentation
12/12 - Got a text in the morning to contact their support number, who asked if I'm happy with the $15,000 limit, then approved the card
17/12 - Welcome pack received, dated 13/12. $279 annual fee shown in pack.
17/12 - Got a text at lunch time telling me to pick up card at local branch. Called ahead to confirm the card is there, showed up, collected card, changed PIN. Asked branch person to check that there's no annual fee for first year. Confirmed to be correct.

Now just added the card to Opal and PayPal, purchase authorisation coming through so I'm happy.

Got the green temporary card and a note saying I'll get the black signature card in 90 days. Not thrilled but I can live with an ugly green card for 3 months.

All up took less than 9 business days.

Now to spend $4000 in 3 months!

  • People that are having issues would've applied in the week in/around 21/11 when this deal was listed. There were issues with authorisation and their system went a bit haywire with the number of applications. I am still going through the rigmarole but will apparently have a working card on Wed 19/12 nearly a month since being originally approved on the 22/11 and a card sent out to me which then couldn't be activated as I then had 100 points of ID to send in and my bank statements.

I think the main issue I have is that their communication and documentation of phone calls is appalling. I've spoken to so many different people and virtually nothing has been typed on my file. Today I rang them at 1030 only to receive a text message at 1130 to call them back only to find that it was apparently automated and there was nothing new since I'd spoken to them one hour prior which the person I spoke to didn't seem to be aware of!?

  • Does anybody have a screenshot of the initial offer? I called up the customer care service to confirm the offer I signed up for. Apparently, on their systems currently show that I am under the 80k Qantas points with an annual fee of $179!!

They told me to wait and see if I actually get charged in my first statement and if so, I will need to visit a branch with proof of the offer I signed up for and get the charged reversed.

    • Have a "Print to PDF" version of the page (but not an actual screenshot)

    • +2

I do from the 6th of December, I ll send it once I have access to my laptop

      • would be great if you can post a (temporary)link….

      • Can you please share a link here? I will need that too. Called customer care and they said $179 annual fee. Need a proof to show it to them.

Received temporary card today after 2 weeks and a bit.
    All good and no problems

    • Yeah same here…have never heard of a temporary credit card - it looks and operates exactly like my other credit cards!!!

  • Conditionally approved 23/11
Formal approval 3/12 (after an endless cycle of sending supporting documentation)
    Welcome letter 12/12
    Ugly green card received 17/12

Have issues registering for online banking but have activated the card ready for use.

  • Applied 02/12
    Conditionally approved 02/12
    Documents sent 02/12
    Approved 03/12
Welcome letter dated 04/12 (post) - was interstate - so was already in mail 16/12
Card arrived and activated - 18/12 (post) - Note I am in Perth (Green Ugly one!)

    • So they essentially Approved it in a day, then took 15 days to actually send it out? That's quite slow for their premium card - Westpac sends it out within 4/5 business days.

      • Correct, extremely slow for premium card indeed!

  • Yep, got my green ugly card as well today

  • I’ve spent the 4K already. Any idea how long it usually takes to get the qantas points?

    • Most likely when you get your statement or looking at all the issues above may even drag on 3rd statement. Who knows.

    • Usually deposited straight into Qantas on the next billing cycle

  • +1

I counted my lucky stars when I received the credit card - but be warned that if you are trying to set up automatic payment… it's a pain and a half….

I submitted an automatic payment form and faxed it through the number indicated on the form. (Called up to set up automatic credit card payment but was told I can't do it online or on the phone, I can only visit a branch but I live three hours away from Perth so they said to fax the form through instead.)

After a week they said they have not set up automatic payment yet because the form I sent through was not "clear" (i took a photo of the form and it was very legible). This was strange as I did not receive any notification or contact to let me know that my form could not be processed! I decided to send in an online complaint through the web form and facebook channel. The web form prompted a reply from Westpac (not St George, how strange!) Customer Service Manager explaining that I had to go through a branch (had to let her know that I live three hours away from the City). HOWEVER the Facebook staff mentioned that I could have just emailed through the form and gave me the email address.

It was baffling how the information, all received from staff members of St George, are all conflicting!

After a week of this kerfuffle, I called up St George again and they confirmed verbally that
    1) Automatic Payment has been set up BUT
    2) they won't be able to send through a letter/email/message of confirmation AND
    3) I should still manually pay the first statement (in two weeks) as they can't guarantee that Automatic Payment would be active by then (despite confirming to me that it is active?)

It sure is alot of muck to wade through for the bonus points!

  • Samsung Pay not supported, what a POC, I'll be churning through this ASAP and on to the next card.

  • -3

    Just spent my 4K.

How long does it take for my points to arrive.

What did it say in the T&Cs when you read them?

  • I started an application for this offer, but didn't complete it (it was saved). I keep getting emails every few days inviting me to complete the application.

If I complete it, would it be correct to assume I would still get the offer of 80K Qantas with no annual fee? Or would I only get the current offer that has the $179 fee?
