40% off on Orders of Two or More Airbolts (Electronic/BT Padlock) (2x Locks US $102.94 / AUD $142.22 Delivered) @ The Air Bolt

blackfriday

Melbourne kickstarted company that makes an amazing electronic padlock. I have two already and will be getting two more as a Xmas gift.

I think if you just watch their video you will be convinced to get one for yourself.

I use the lock for my main travel overseas but also daily on my backpack. You can control the lock with your smartphone, button pattern combination, have proximity alarms, the USB chargeable lasts a year and you can use the app to unlock it from the other side of the world. Basically it is a very well thought out lock and is worth the price IMHO.

At the 40% off price (need to purchase 2 or more), this is the cheapest I have seen it so far.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2018

  • $110 each? Wow

You have to be opening and closing it multiple times each day to justify the cost, I'm afraid. If I am up to no good, I'll be more interested in stealing the lock than the contents it is protecting.

      • I just love the convenience of being able to not have to squint to see those combination lock dials (near and far sighted so hard for me) or if I'm in a public area, to set the lock to loop my backpack onto a fixed object while I'm having lunch out in the open etc.

The way they designed the shape of the lock means I can set it up to super securely lock my zippered sections together or use the side sections to lock away my cables and chargers at the office so no one can nick them when I'm away (had happened in the past to me).

$100 lock on a zipper can be defeated by a 30c ball point pen.

  • Amazing

  • Damn, I had some other edits to this post but could not update it.

Please note that US$7 delivery so in total the two locks I just purchased cost AU$148.22.

    • The web site says FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE Free shipping worldwide.

Don't know why it has to repeat itself, but free shipping worldwide as long as you pay US $7?

You can try your edit again. It was locked because 2 mods and me were editing it within a short period of time.

      • Good point. I'm going to email them about it as I paid the US$7 and didn't notice the free shipping.

        • Woo hoo. They just refunded me my shipping and gave me a total of $17 back. The bonus $10 as they apparently read OzBargan.

          Thanks AirBolt guys!!!!

  • The video put me off.. didnt show any detail.

  • Thats an expensive lock

    • That's what I thought when I first got one almost a year ago but I absolutely love them.

      • It's still an expensive padlock.

        • +3

This is true, loving something doesn't stop it from being expensive. Take my wife for instance…

  • Battery and luggage, I dont see that working

    • Battery lasts a year. I haven't charged my current lock since early this year and it still says 65% charge left.

      • I dont think the airlines would allow you to put them on your luggage on a plane, if you cant have those suitcases with batteries in them

        • I believe that you can check in devices with built in lithium batteries if they are non removable and can be turned off completely. These obviously can't be turned off and worse are completely exposed to the elements as well as potential handling damage.

          • @gadget: Actually there is an airport mode for the locks.

          • @gadget: Was informed by the AirBolt crew that the batteries are within the limits for airlines so no issues regardless, unlike those ‘smart’ luggage bags.

  • My wife has just told me that I should say that it would make a great gift for the guy who has a lot (I won't say everything). It also makes a great executive gift for that special someone who travels a lot.

She is happy that I'm getting her two. :-)

  • Smoke and mirrors. With all due respect to the OP, my uncle is a locksmith and he cracks up laughing at padlocks. Google or YouTube how to open padlocks and you will understand; it literally takes <3 seconds and is child's play to break open any padlock with very simple tools and no skills required. No padlock is worth more than two bob, if you want to secure your stuff no padlock on this earth will do the job. I suggest if you want to donate your hard-earned cash you might want to consider choosing a more worth-while charity. Just saying.

    • Locks are only there to keep out honest people…

    • Maybe so, but if Schapelle Corby had a padlock… .…

She'd have a secured bag of drugs
