Google Chromecast 3 Charcoal $49 (Normally $59) @ Officeworks

780

Good deal for the recently released Chromecast 3 if you missed the eBay ones from this month.
I just price matched this at JB HiFi and used 5% off vouchers (from Suncorp portal) for total of $46.55 (cheapest on OzBargain so far)

I got mine for 32. And I'm not telling. Same as you.

    • +1

      I bet it's a Crhomecast on ebay/alipexpress/<favorite Chinese gadget site>, not a Chromecast 3!

dont bother commenting if you’re not gonna share. this is ozbargain, not bragbargain nor is it douchebargain.

    • +9

      A $49 bargain shared beats a $33 bargain you don't know about.

    • +1

Dude what's the point of saying this if you're not gonna share.

    • -7

To be fair all the people replying have less posts than kaos guy

      • Yeah mostly supermarket related deals, big whoop.

        • -4

          Better than 4 posts, right?

          • @[Deactivated]: Sure, but at least I don't go into other people's deals and claim I got a better deal in the past without sharing it with the community, that would be truly be dick move.

      • Wow got neged out.

        backs away in bush meme

    • If it is in fact you purchased a CC 3 for $33, and you didnt share the deal with your fellow OzB family… that is unforgivable as a OzB member. shame on you.

      • -3

        Ok

    • -1

Who else had all daily negs exhausted in few seconds?

  • -6

you're better off with the xiaomi mi box 3 tbqh.

    • +3

As the owner of 2 Mi Box 3's I'd have to disagree with you after the current update.

      • whats happened with the latest update?

      • Thank god I'm still on 6.0

    • Or maybe a Vodafone TV?

  • +1

Hey, just wondering how long did your jb hi fi card take to arrive in your Suncorp account?

  • better off getting voda tv

    • Not for casting - keeps dropping out as a device to cast to. It's a real shame.

Awesome for the Android TV part, sucks for the casting.

Also - I think you can use this for multi room audio!

      • I only just set mine up, but have had no such issues?

      • never have an issue with dropping out, maybe you got faulty one. Check with them and get it exchanged.

  • +1

Price match at officeworks for…. Oh wait….

  • Good deal – got mine for $47.20 (-1% cashback) with TGG's eBay sale on 1/11

  • Can you stream to these from an android phone, without wifi?

  • +2

I'd rather spend 30 dollars more for Ultra.

  • +1

As someone who normally just copies what I want to watch onto a USB that I stick into my current TV is there any point getting one of these? I dont watch netflix and my TV can already play youtube which I rarely use.

    • I use Plex with chromecast which makes streaming movies I've downloaded onto my laptop alot easier.

    • -2

Well that's a bit of a slow and old fashioned way of doing things.

    • The majority of online video can be streamed to your TV with the tap of one button, and if you have Plex you can put all your movies or TVs in that (local)network and stream it from your PC with ease. Significantly less cumbersome than copying stuff to a USB and doing that, plus at least in my case I can stream ripped blurays from plex because my tv won't play the format.

Also, you can use google commands from your phone, for example I use 'turn off my tv' or 'stop chromecast' pretty often for it to be useful. To the future!

If only they have come up with a way for us to use them at hotels without a router or authentication process

    • +1

For that, you want a china "anycast" stick from ebay.

      Like $10 usually.

    • Phone hotspot is the simplest and most reliable. You can't setup the Chromecast with the hotspot server, however - but a second phone, tablet or a laptop will work fine to setup the Chomecast. I've got one Chromecast permanently in my laptop bag exclusively for portability; once the hotspot is on then away I cast!

I've not found any hotel wifi I trust to connect devices to - and most are locked down regardless.

  • $50.05 delivered next day through eBay US

    • It's $49 delivered from Google's store as well.

      • Delivery in Feb 19…

  • I still have first gen but I don't have any issues with it and I have adsl2 so it's not as if I can benefit from the 4k streaming.

So I guess it's prob not worth an upgrade yet.

    • Chromecast 3 is not a 4k streamer, so you're right - you're not missing anything readlly, other than fancier wifi, which won't help you at all.
