Lol I wonder how many people freely give out all that info to 1 site, hoping they'll never be hacked…

    Irony!

Cathay Pacific Airways has enlisted (Experian) a company that was itself once caught up in a hacking scandal to help deal with the fallout of a data breach that affected more than 9 million passengers.

But the Nottingham, England-based credit-tracking firm had its own experience with hacking in 2015, when a breach saw the data of 15 million subscribers of T-Mobile US held on Experian’s servers exposed. The company was sued over the incident, along with the telecommunications provider.

  • “No credit card details required.“ I’m confused

    • To sign up.

Just got an email from Marriott hotels saying data has been compromised and to sign up for a free year of this service

    • Yes, I wonder whether the email from Mariott is a phishing email, but then saw a post in ozb that confirm that it might not be the case

    • Got it too. Does this mean our records were taken and if so what? They aren’t very specific but from the email t looks like it could be a bunch of stuff including passport and credit card numbers.

    • Mee too. I rang them up to see what details of mine they have stored & they directed me here; https://www.marriott.com/about/privacy.mi

Under How You Can Request to Access, Change, Delete, or Restrict the Use of Your Personal Data

According to Experian my email address was compromised.

    What about Ozbargain account?

Seriously though, this offers no protection. It just reports to you if your details are found somewhere on the internet. Plus you have to give all your details to this company. What happens if they get hacked? Will they notify me?

    • I thought I mentioned "monitor" and not "protect".

      • Well then the title is misleading.

Seems like I was compromised on Zomato, I changed most of my passwords on other sites that had my email as a user name. Go to this site for a quick check at https://haveibeenpwned.com/ without giving out all your info into one site

Link all your details on Experian so under the new Oz surveillance laws the government knows how to find you and spy on you. Nah.

  • This was provided for spg customers as part of the remediation for the customer database being hacked.

  • I only submitted my email address. No privacy issues.

I don't know how serious this site takes it's security. Told me the password I wanted to use was too long. Apparently 16 characters is too long. Worked with 12 characters.
