  • Thanks TA.

  • Damn TA beat me to it. Almost pipped you

    • +2

One does not simply pip TA

  • -3

Tightarse makes me want to loosen up.

  • -6

Can ebay just change a policy to everything be gst free then? It seems to be always 10% off now that gst is included

    • +5

The GST is for overseas sellers. If the item location is set to Australia then no GST is applied at checkout.

Also a good way for overseas sellers to bypass the GST by falsely putting AU as the item location when their profile says otherwise.

      • -5

You say it like its not a given though.

If its available locally, and you're not disabled, you'd be picking it up right now, not bidding/buying on an auction site and having to pay/wait for shipping.

        • +3

You would have to be an idiot (note I don't make fun of a group of disadvantaged people) to battle a shopping centre, than to get it delivered to your door. A few days wait, in most circumstances, doesnt make a difference to your life

          • +1

@Thatbargainhunter: Not everyone is blessed with good forsight.

When I need something, its because I need it now.

A few days would leave my project/client delayed.

I plan as best i can, but really? "Battle a shopping center"? They're built big so they dont get too crowded.
Or perhaps thats a brisbane thing. Even on chistmas eve our main shops have parking, and easy walking.
And I dont live at all remote.

          • +1

@Thatbargainhunter: What are you even on about 'battle shopping centres'?!?

It's basically in and out lol

Also the last thing I got delivered card was left, so I had to drive to the post office wait in a queue (much longer than any shopping centre) and then had to drive back home (equivalent of driving to the shops). Get home and open it, and it has been damaged in transit. Have to get them to sent another one.. process repeat, sigh.

So no, you don't have to be an 'idiot' to shop at a shopping centre, sometimes it's common sense.

            • +1

@boostpak: In and out. Especially at this time of year. I don't think so. The major shopping centres are absolutely crazy at this time of year. It is an absolute shit fight to park and then battle the clueless crowds.

Get a parcel locker - perfably one at a service station. No more getting carded. Amateurs get stuff delivered to residential addresses.

Time to use the 10% off eBay gift cards.

    • May I ask why as opposed to other recent 10% off eBay deals?

  • +38

    Whining inbound:

$120 Min Spend, eBay should do $1 minimum spend.

$300 Max Discount, should be unlimited.

Listed Exclusions, everything should be included.

    Tightarse, should be looser.

    • +3

You should take up professional poetry.

    • +3

You forgot - should be 15%/20% off sitewide as that's what US gets

      • Is it a good deal? Only $75 USD max discount

    • Yeah I never partake in these eBay "Sales" any more myself. The overseas ones are way better.

    • +2

there is more whining about people whining than actual people whining now…

      • Stop yer complainin'!

  • any idea how can i get 10% off on wish gift cards?

  • +1

Why do they always exclude Officeworks?

    • Can always go through eBay US and get up to 15% off today.

      • Ebay US has the worse deal since it is capped at only $75 USD

        • +1

At 15% off you’d need to spend $500 USD ~ $700 AUD to hit the max discount

    • +4

Officeworks want consistent pricing across all their stores. Having an eBay sale undermines that.

      • Their bricks and mortar store should price match ebay then.

Seems they don't have a problem with 5% off though.

        • Why should any b&m store price match an online auction house? It's up to the business as to whether it's worthwhile participating. I'd hazard a guess that rorting/pushing the envelope by a few customers have made them review their practices - to the detriment of many.

          • @[Deactivated]: They already have a price match guarantee that matches anyone.

And while ebay is an auction house technically, no one uses bid prices for price matching. It's the buy it now price that people look at.

They can price match their own store if they want consistent pricing. Or they can just allow inconsistent pricing. At the end of the day, it doesn't hurt their bottom line aside from ebay/paypal fees, which if they have a problem with that, they should close their ebay account entirely.

            • @lostn: Their terms explicity exclude any vouchers applied.

Just because their store is on ebay, doesnt change those conditions.

However officeworks is a LISTED goodguys competitor, and they dont exclude vouchers.

I get them to "130% beat" officeworks a lot.

              • -1

@MasterScythe: If they exclude vouchers, then to be consistent they should also exclude vouchered prices as actual prices. So the list price on OW ebay store should still be the same price as their B&M store for 'consistency' purposes. Therefore they shouldn't exclude themselves from sitewide codes.

                • @lostn: It is.

Ive never seen an officeworks product that wasnt the same price, PRE applying excluded site discounts.

The reason is, ebay absorbs the cost, taking a smaller cut from the sale.

Officeworks are already cutting their points, making less, by using ebay.

As i said, just match thegoodguys if its such a problem.

Being tight isnt meant to be easy.

                  • @MasterScythe: Wasted effort there. He should simply search OzB for the many comments on the same topic. I read an article a while back which suggested people constantly chasing the best deal were overall less happy than others. Something in it reading many comments on OzB

                    • @[Deactivated]: I enjoy bargain hunting, but certainly, every 6 months or so I get sick of "the chase" .

Check ozB for any deal, no matter how small, and just go ahead and buy what ive been obsessing over.

Such a relief to not be constantly hunting for what is usually as little as $5.

    Code checks out

    • Terms and conditions checks out

      • Fair use policy applies

  • +5

Damn, just bought another Citizen watch & only got 5% off…

I’ll hand in my OzB membership on the way out…

    • -1

*points fingers in the shape of a gun at Bunsen

and i'll take that watch too.

    • Citizen Pain?

  • +1

Hate how they never tell you the end date. You wait a day and then it's over.

    • +3

It will end 17/12/2018 12am. You can find out by clicking the "pay only - show me how link"

      • Ooh. Nice hack.

So to avoid confusion, it ends tonight at midnight?

  • the ebay.com deal is better plus you get 1% cashrewards cashback

    • +2

Not better considering you can get 10% off gift cards at eBay UK currently to stack with this

      • the category I was after is excluded on ebay.com.au

    • I thought ebay cashback is no more?

      Quote below:
"Important Notice - eBay Australia. Commencing 9 Dec 2018, eBay Australia has paused all activity with Australian Cashback partners.
What does this mean to our valued members? There will be no Cashback on any eBay Australia purchases from 9 Dec 2018 until further notice."

      • +1

He said eBay.com. That's not Australia.

      • as above, ebay.com still has 1% cashback through cashrewards not ebay.com.au.

  • +2

    So in summary,

Buy $1210 stuff with 10% Off, pay $1000 eGC
Buy $1000 eGC with $900 on Amex

Don't forget Qantas Shopping or Velocity EStore and Flybuys

Now just waiting for the $1000 Ebay eGC from this deal.

    • +1

Wait.. tell me about the AMEX discount?

      • See my link above, 'from this deal', checkout using PayPal, pay with AMEX

        • Your link doesn't even mention AMEX.

What does AMEX do? Do they have $100 cashback for ebay that I'm not aware of?

          • @lostn: Use the link to get 10% on eGC, $1000 eGC you only pay $900.

Pay the $900 using PayPal and Amex, and get AMEX points.

Amex has no offer at the moment.

    • I meant $1,100 of stuff, not $1,210. Math fail, lol

  • -8

Someone already said it, but it bears repeating.

This just means you're finally paying the advertised price again, not plus gst.

If it was available locally i'd fricking go and pick it up!

Im on ebay because its NOT!

Government needs to go away now….

    • +1

Only if you're buying from overseas sellers. That's what the legislation is for.

      • -2

        Of course I am!
If it was available locally I wouldnt be on ebay, lol, id be at the shop.

        • +1

Why would you waste some of your life going to a shop? You immortal or something?

          • @idonotknowwhy: Usually driving to the shop is quicker than delivery for the things/places i shop at.

Most take at least a business day to get to me.

Its because im not immortal that i choose not to sit around and twiddle my thumbs waiting on things i could stop being a lazy ass about and pick up in under 30 minutes

            • @MasterScythe: Aww damn, I was hoping you were immortal :(

You could always buy online, then background it and focus on other things until the delivery arrives, rather than twiddling your mortal thumbs.

    • Government needs to go away now….

They really have a good use for the working stiff's money though, enough that they need to take it by force…

      • I think i just misunderstood what gst was.
I thought it was charged during production to the company, and during transfer of goods from business to me.

Im a simple guy in the tax world, i pay them, i claim my returns, done.

It just seems really confusing not where, but why gst applies to imported goods, not available locally?

        So confusing.

        • why gst applies to imported goods, not available locally?

Most goods aren’t available locally - they’re imported from China and sold by a local retailer or purchase facilitator who collects GST. Ebay Australia is a local purchase facilitator (ABN 22 086 288).

    • Government needs to go away now….

Unfortunately most of the population votes for Liberal and Labour despite their quality of life and wealth being in freefall thanks to their actions.

In the recent SA election voters elected the Liberal Party again and the biggest election issue was the social and economic disaster that electricity privatisation created.

In case you aren't up on SA history: in 1997 the Liberal Party ran an election campaign promising to never privatise electricity because 75% of SA did not want privatisation. When they got into power they privatised electricity and, predictably, prices skyrocketed to the highest in the world while the private system was so hopeless it had regular blackouts despite these world record prices.

      So the voters are vegetables.

      • Yep.

And what I try to explain to people is that voting is a chess game.

You dont have to like partyXYZ forever to vote for them once.

Once the 'good' is in place, the voters will fight to keep it.

IF they manage to get bad things in, the next party will fix that or block it.

        Its a laugh.

      • Your analysis of the SA power situation is more than a little lacking. Reminds me of the federal cons claims after the huge storm which knocked over power towers. What's the term - yes, fake news. The wealth /quality of life comment is simplistic and a matter of opinion as to how you measure quality of life and wealth. Most Australians are better off now than they were a couple of decades ago, with little of the credit to any political party or government - imo.

  • TA, T&Cs link doesn't appear to be working, FYI.

  • At least the Ebay US code does not restrict it to 10 items.
    I'll be using that shortly.

  • +1

The weekly 10 percent off 120 min spend code!

  • EBay AU may as well just keep this as a rolling offer.

  • I'm too poor to buy $120+ item

  • -2

Thanks, in time to grab iPhone X max 512 for $1826 after discount, further more when claiming trs :) https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/20-OFF-Brand-new-iPhone-Ten-xs-m…

    • +4

      Rich…

    • Can you please confirm if it worked for you?
      Not working for me

      • +1

Yes already purchased. I even managed to use some eBay gift cards. Prob reduced it down to $1600 after claiming trs since the invoice shows the price without discount.

  • Any good Xbox One X deals including Battlefield V? Not quite sure what is considered a good price anymore.

    • +1

10% off feeBay and you already thinking about caving in to get an XB1X? Wait for boxing day, you haven't got XB1X yet so obviously it is not a must for you.

      • I'm feeling it because of the awesome Xbox One X deals from the black Friday period. Should have jumped on the $476 Battlefield bundle but didn't bite and now nothing is comparable to that.

Thanks for the reminder about boxing day, I'll wait until then before I cave haha.

  • kool, I updated this 2080ti deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/425051

  • Any deals on plasma screen tvs?

    • No one makes plasma tvs anymore

      • But the coupon :(

        • Maybe it means plasma rifle?

          • @edfoo: Or the stuff which helps keep you alive?

  • It says car and truck parts excluded yet I went on a listing for an item listed under that category it says "Pay as little as xx" and had the PLASMA code.

  • Important Notice - eBay Australia
Commencing 9 Dec 2018, eBay Australia has paused all activity with Australian Cashback partners.

What does this mean to our valued members? There will be no Cashback on any eBay Australia purchases from 9 Dec 2018 until further notice.

We acknowledge that whilst eBay's decision is untimely and unfortunate, we remain hopeful that it's only temporary.

We'd like to thank you for your ongoing support and apologise for any inconvenience this change by eBay Australia may cause.

    • The Team at CASHREWARDS -
    • And soon all other programs 😉

    • Good to know. I'll reduce my ebay spending significantly.

    • +1

Psst. If you have access to non-australian cashback partners. It still works with .com.au transactions.
