Surprised this offer hasn't been posted before considering it's been running for quite a while (expires end of the year though) although I've only just become a member myself.

  • To become a member and get the cashback you need to fill in the form on their Mates 2018 promo page.
  • You then get emailed the link to open a fee-free S1 Easy Access account.
  • Once the account is open the cashback gets deposited into the account within 20 days (mine took 3 days). Both the referrer and referee receive the $50.

BorderBank and PoliceBank are the same bank so you can actually join either. I have confirmed via email and live chat that you do not need to be in the industry or know anyone in the industry (I do not). Membership is open to everyone and anyone.

To be eligible for the cashback you must be at least 18 years old and have not been a member in the past 3 years.

I had trouble loading the page with Firefox (probably due to Firefox add-ons) but Internet Explorer worked for me.

      Well I have only just joined, but so far it's been good.. any questions I've had have been replied to quickly by their customer service. They seem to have all the other things major banks have (PayID, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Apple Pay etc). So will see how it all goes!

    You need to put your membership number on the form, so do you need to join first then fill out the form? I only ask because the OP suggests you fill the form first and then get a link to join.

    Also OP could you pm me your ref details?

      Yeah you need to put the referrer details up the top and then just fill in all your details at the bottom and you will get sent a link to open an account.

      No monthly account keeping fees but fees if you overdraw, card replacement etc.

    Notice that they seem to want to talk to you before they will open an account. So that’s the catch!

        Probably a large influx of applications in one day and system flagging applications it as fraudulent

        They will trace it back to ozbargain and hopefully they will honor the cashback

        Most referral program now exclude sharing on public forums since its not technically family and freinds

    From my experience in the past trying to join this/Police Bank was terrible. Worst customer service and grilled me on why I wanted to join..also told me that I needed to be in the industry to qualify. There maybe different joining requirements now, but based on my experience I would’t go near them. Their reviews (Police Bank) are pretty appalling also from what I’ve read. Just my opinion though, others may have different experiences.

      Yeah hopefully they have changed now. My experience so far has been really positive. Only hiccup was I had to submit my ID because they couldn't identify me from my details but not really their fault. Customer reps have been great to deal with and pretty quick to reply. Time will tell though I guess.

    How do I get a referral link?
    I click on the Referral option above but it just comes up with:
    REFERRAL CODE: Send private message to a random referrer.

    I thought it would give me a referral code directly?

    So I had a missed call a couple of weeks ago while I was at work. No voicemail was left and I ended up forgetting about it. I later decided to google the number and it was someone from border bank. I haven't had a call since and I never received a single email from them.

    Good way to get business isn't it. Phone once, too lazy to leave a message or send a simple email?? It's been a month since I signed up online. Piss poor customer service. Why should I have to chase them up?

      Same here.

      I filled out the application on their website, giving them all my details and received the "Thank you. Your application has been successfully submitted. A Member Service Officer will contact you shortly." message.

      I haven't heard anything since then (since before christmas). No calls, email or anything in the mail.
