Missus was looking for a knife sharpener, seems worth a shot at this price!

Original price: $22.99
Lightning Deal: $16.09
After 40% off coupon: $6.89 (it seems the 40% off coupon is calculating off the higher original price rather than the Lightning Deal price)

  • How do you get to that price?

    • Honestly, not sure. Maybe the coupon code took 40% off the original price and applied that to the lightning deal price?

Edit: Duh, shoulda just checked before commenting. It looks like that's exactly the reason

      • Nice thanks. Bought one

  • Whats this code from? does it apply to others too

  • Not sure about the quality. Just gambled my $6.89

Missus was looking for a knife sharpener

Are you sure you are not in trouble?

    • +3

She's been asking for one for a while, I'd be in trouble if I didn't get one… can't win! ;)

  • Thanks OP, bought one… couldn't resist the sharp price.

  • Can this sharpen global g12?

    • -1

As long as it isn't a single bevel knife it will be fine.

    • As long as it isn't a single bevel knife it will be fine.

No it won't. It'll sharpen a Global for a while but won't take long to ruin a decent knife with a cheap sharpener like this.

Look at Minosharp if you easy sharpener. Whetstone is best if you can be bothered learning.

      • The G12 won't fit into the Minosharp (use it for G6 though). So I guess I have to sharpen the G12 the old school way?

      • For half the price you can get an IKEA shaper which is also a ceramic roller like the Minosharp.

It's also lasted longer than the 2 Minosharps combined that I had.

Unless you are skilled at using a stone and can get 20 degrees on each side then you are not going to sharpen the knife as well as any knife sharpener will.

Using a stone improperly will create an uneven arch which means the edge will fold over and you will end up with a dull knife.

  • Am I doing something wrong?
    Not working for me.

  • ozbargained.

  • Bought one, thanks OP

I ruined a Global knife with a cheap sharpener like this. Don't be like me.

  • These are awful guys, really don't recommend using this on any knife worth more then 10bucks
