Tried it just to see if it works, says cannot apply code to this order for POPUPSAVINGS

Oh need US address. Anyway I dont think anyone wants a ps classic

  • +4

Was gonna get a PS classic then realised may as well just use FPSe on my Sony Android TV with DualShock 3 controller

I just read Sony is dropping the price on these.

    • +1

They already did bud. $89.99 is the new RRP.

      • +3

        Can only go cheaper. :D

      • So soon after release… That’s embarrassing.

        • +2

Still too much for what you get. Not worth $20.

Wait until it goes lower (it will). Until then you might as well buy a raspberry pi - same hardware but more useful

    • Raspberry pi would be more powerful. I bought a deck of PlayStation cards from eb the other week that comes in a tin that looks like a PlayStation planning on putting a raspberry pi zero in it.

    N64 mini or it’s nothing

    • Sega Saturn or Dreamcast minis would be awesome as well.

  • I know ozbargain is a bargain website, but one of the things that constitute a bargain is the item is a great value purchase. I think it would be great if the site admins added a secondary upvote to vote on if the product is shit or not. Because it sounds like this retro console is a pile of rubbish to most people who have tried it. And obviously downvoting the deal per se isn’t a correct measurement.

    • The hardware looks good watched a YouTube video where a guy put a raspberry pi 3 in it running retropie looked great.

Sounds like… But isn't. It runs really well, and is pretty real easily hackable to add extra games.

You can't compare official products to third party knockoffs, loaded with illegal software.

        runs really well

        Not really

pretty real easily hackable to add extra games.

Not really. Only USB keyboard made by certain manufacturers like Logitech can access the hidden menu options

You can't compare official products to third party knockoffs, loaded with illegal software.

You can't add extra ROMs, then complain about 'illegal software.' Pick one.

    • Funny how a used ps3 is a similar price and can play every ps1 games, couple ps2 games from store and every ps3 games. Now that’s a bargain compared to this.

Glad I cancelled my JB hi-fi pre-order $150 was way too much for this.

    • +1

i preordered two and luckily i got my money back

  • +2

To be honest the price for this is still to high. What Sony is currently offering what this console is pretty bad. I would advise people to wait. In my honest opinion this console is only worth $20

  • +2

    WARNING: read the reviews first

    • I did that's why I cancelled my pre-order. I have the SNES classic that is a nice retro system but I still haven't used it much.

      • I got the SNES classic for XMAS and I’ve played it heaps already, but I did wish it had more games even though the selection is pretty good. It definitely hits the old skool itch. There’s also the SEGA mega drive on special at Target at the moment which has 80 games included.

Dumb thing about all this is, if Sony had have dropped this at 99 RRP day one, it would have been a lot more enticing to a lot more people, and made it a lot easier to overlook the flaws.

A hundred bucks to play a bunch of decent games, and then sideload THPS2 on there, and a spare controller? That's impulse buy territory right there.

But dropping it at 150, getting called out for being lazy shit, and then dropping it what, like a month later, by more than a third of the cost? No good will earned there, too little, too late.

But 100 at launch, (profanity) it, I'd have seriously thought about one for the novelty of it.

    • Agreed, I would of too. Nintendo pricing was right, should of just copied that. Too much for less.

  • Why are people buying a console that was released 24 yrs ago???

  • Shane Warne 99’ was a great game…
