FINALLY someone has provided an answer rather than negging, thank you! An AU 10% off seems unlikely but the others are good.

          • +1

@Clear: They're never far away now that you have 3 possible sites who can run it.

5% is better than nothing, if you have to have it now, or it's a low qty item that will sell out before the 10% is available. It's not exciting though. I guess you can say we've been spoiled the last couple of years.

          • @Clear: If people like you actually didn't use codes like this. EBay would be forced to give better deals and discounts. We should all come together as a community and boycott. Until they do something worthwhile. I can understand if the deals were the same but happened less often. These are getting worse each month!

            • @Whisper Quiet: That's okay the eBay reps who are active members of the community (trust me they exist) are reading every comment we're all making :)

    • If only we had Amazon here to challenge them.

  • I smell a UK/US deal coming soon…

    • Can't come soon enough. Who knows when the next UK/US deal will be. For now we are stuck with this crap 5% deal . 5% off $50 spend was bad enough now $100 minimum spend .. lol

  • +7

How the hell is this a deal when there's a $100 min spend? no offense to OP but I don't see how this crap is on the front page of the website.

  • +3

    I can wait

  • Was hoping for a 5% off code like last year - expires at end of year, 3 transactions per account - even if they increased the min spend to $100.

  • +4

Hardly worth the effort. That exclusion list combined with price jacking why would you bother

  • +10

5% off on any other website would get laughed off ozbargain. the number of upvotes on this, and every other ebay deal, stinks

    • +1

devil's advocate though: name 1 site with even 5% of the range of ebay doing 5% sales

  • -1

The likes on this deal are fake bot scam hump nonsense. This deal is garbage.

  • Ok, what's a deal? This is nowhere as good as things have been in 2018, but I fear the party is over.

Still, there is one item I've been holding off buying that is the last one available. I'll get it now rather than waiting till it is sold out. As such thanks OP, you saved me $5.

  • +1

Looks like eBay is going in the exact same direction of the USA site. The deals are getting worse - constant higher minimum spend, more item exclusions, only one time offer instead of endless, price jacking on sales, taken off shopback / cashrewards, eBay Plus forgotten about (was only good for the first two months when it started). They should be doing the exact opposite to compete with Amazon with their great prices and Prime being $5 a month which gets you free shipping, streaming videos, music app, online storage, kindle books, plus more. I can only see the same thing happening in Oz as USA, where eBay is mainly for second hand stuff and an occasional buy if there is a good deal. Amazon has over 50% share of online stores there. EBay is around 5% or less….

  • +4

yaBe - that is ebay going backwards.

  • +6

    I'm not an upvote bot.
    Not a great deal.

  • +4

These "deals" just keep getting worse and worse and yet it has so many upvotes!

  • +3

Even 10% is not that attractive eBay jack. How is 5% with Min $100 spend and limited to one transaction a deal. Many exclusions, at look at the maximum discount, pathetic. Nothing against the op but eBay.

    Is ozbargain run by bots?

    • +13

We're not entitled, this is a BARGAIN site, not a catalogue to 'save' 5% off above RRP products.

    • -1

You're right that ebay doesn't owe anyone anything. But its actually good for ebay that people vote democratically and express their opinions on an open forum such as this. The business is given direct information as to what works and what doesn't. I don't think people expressing their opinion that this is not a bargain, automatically makes them entitled d'bags?

    • +1

What do eBay's shoes taste like?

    • Joke's on you buddy when a 10% deal appears in one of the three ebay sites in the coming week or two.

    • +1

Funny cos you can only use it on a single transaction and you’ve listed more than one.

  • I can't get my PUSH5 to work - keeps telling me I haven't made the min amount yet the amount is $118 before GST and postage. Useless. And they are included in the offer (power supply).

  • and all items sold by the following Sellers: Officeworks

I did not realize OW even pulled out of the 5% off deals. They used to close their site whenever there was a 10 or 15% off, but later added themselves to exclusion list. But as far as I remember, they considered 5% off ok.

The next time US or UK does a sitewide, I think I might buy something from OW through there just out of spite.

    • Officework's reason for pulling out of the sales is "they want consistent pricing across all their stores" which really doesn't make sense with the price match offer anyway \0/

  • +4

I've cancelled my eBay Plus free trial in protest at this miserable offer.

    • -7

      Cool story bro.

  • +1

All the won't use 5% cry babies it works at Target Ebay. The 10 % never did :)

    • And Target isn't even on Amazon so the "Amazon 6% Shopback" argument is void :P

  • +4

Amazon 6% Shopback, nothing more needs to be said.

    • 3 months later vs upfront discount

  • +3

Sorry OP, but eBay's finally pushed it too far for me. $100 minimum and 5% is not a deal for anyone who wasn't already going to spend that much anyway, and even then limiting to one use only is a joke (especially since one transaction is limited to 10 items and a single currency.)

    • (especially since one transaction is limited to 10 items and a single currency.

OK that is why I couldn't use it. Man they are getting stingy…

  • 200 upvotes… proves we are a bunch of sheeps.

    • -2

I upvote to bookmark. It proves nothing, certainly not the value of a deal

      • Use the bookmark function instead just below the deal post.

        • It doesn’t format like the upvotes format. I don’t like it

  • These Guys Are nuts. Ruthless Ebay To fall at this rate! no discounts jack prices from sellers and now min spend is just way over the top!

  • +2

Oh who could even be bothered.

  • Can you still buy eBay gift cards with discounted supermarket gift cards? If so, just do that and give this a miss.

  • +4

Is this the worst ebay sitewide discount ever? Plus no cash back from cashreward and shopback.

  • +1

Why are people negging this deal for only being 5% off? It's the only deal running (that I know of) so it's better than 0% for people that need to finalize a purchase now and can't hold off for the usual 10-15%.

    • +4

5% OFF $100 is not a bargain. This is a bargain site, how many times does it have to be said?
If 5% excites you so much go and start your own site called OzCrappyDiscount.

      • I have just had an offer accepted so can't just sit around and wait for a better discount so this is still saving me money… therefore a good deal

  • +2

5% off $100, max 1 transaction is not a bargain and worst eBay offer in memory

  • -2

I find it comical with Ebay not having a sitewide code this year , all the whinging when one comes along . Join the turkey who wouldn't buy 5% Ebay cards because he wanted 10% Ebay cards back . Yeap he spent in the end without any discount . Try getting discount mint stamps , parcel satchels and numerous other items at Amazon . UNBELIEVABLE WHINGERS :)

    • +1

Yeah.. i got 15% ebay cards instead of 10%, imagine how stupid i felt

  • +1

    The minimum spend 😔

  • I usually read comments section because I find them useful or fun to read. WOW, three pages of just whining twats, don't like the deal, leave it or move on. You want to vent, go that's where the forum is.

    • -2

"WOW, three pages of just whining twats" plus one comment that is pretty banal.

  • +1

That’s a pass, one transaction per account, it’s a joke.

  • 5% off not a bargain

    • +1

Valid reasons for a negative vote are:
1/ The deal is not the cheapest available
      2/ Defective product
      3/ Major issues with retailer

      • -2

Nearly all Ebay products available on Amazon where you can get 6% cashback.

        So I'll select 1/

  • When most sellers dont abide by ACL and raise prices before any sale its a neg from me. 2019 these silly ebay "deals" shouldn't be front page news.

    • +1

The sellers will tell you they're more like "guidelines" :)

  • +2

    Jeez tough crowd OP!
Personally I am happy with this because I have 15% off PayPal cards saved, so combined with the extra 5% will be a sweet discount.

    • +2

You could always wait for extra 10 or more % for even sweeter deal. While you are happy since you have 15% off PayPal cards saved, not everyone is in the same boat. Your reasoning is flawed.

  • +2

Ebay aren't going to give another 10% or higher at this time of year, they know you have all the $5 notes from grandma for xmas!! Spend up people 5% is the best you'll get.

    • Here another bot advising to spend. Sure just give me money :)

      • Yep this is the time to boycott EBay! If most people don't use this code and show how bad it is for a company this huge. For each deal to just get worse everytime, hopefully they'll start giving us something that's actually useful and worth it for most people. Even worse when people see how bad the deal is but still say oh well it won't get any better. Hold out or go to another site. If we all did this they would be forced to put out huge discounts…

        • Sheep will stay sheep unfortunately. Not so long ago, people had little knowledge and information could be years old before reaching you. Now, knowledge is readily and easily accessed, and information is here as soon as it comes out, yet the human nature stays the same.

I could hardly find something on ebay that would warrant having it to buy it now, instead of waiting for a better discount. I remember when we had deal on Y550, yet people were still buying second hand ones on ebay for ~ $90. humans are simple minded beings, yet still dreaming of interstellar travels.

  • Are they going to keep raising the minimum spend on a measly 5%? This is getting ridiculous.

  • Minimum spend is way too high for 5% discount

    • +2

      5% is 5%.

  • +2

This is only considered a deal by those who are desperate to buy something >$100 from eBay now and cannot wait any longer. This is the best they can scrap up from the bottom of the barrel.

For everyone else, just sit back, relax and enjoy a can of cold beer, wait for better deals to come up in the future.

Imagine a 10% off eBay AU sitewide or 15% off eBay UK/US sitewide deal comes up next week, those who buy now may kick themselves in their own butt.

    • +1

Their financial year just started so I reckon we won't see anything for quite some time

    • When you're buy at Auction, any discount is a good discount. And sometimes 5% is better than 10% if it keeps people from bidding out of disgust, vs being trigger happy because they have a 10% discount to use! Less competition keeps the bids low.

  • EBay deals are getting worse.

  • +2

    2017 = 15% + 4% CR
    2018 = 10%.+ 1% CR
    2019 = 5% + 0% CR

    Five is the new ten…sad

    • +4

Exactly right. People be like 'WhY aRe YoU sO uNgRaTeFuL?'. I remember when ACTUAL deals were upvoted. 5% off is nothing. In fact I'd rather pay 5% more and purchase from elsewhere because of how much I hate FeeBay.

      • +1

I have to vote you for the feebay

    • They tried really hard to give good discounts for us just before Amazon AU launched out of fear. And when Amazon didn't show up, they took it all back.

We might see fewer 10 and 15% offs.

  • Too bad Bezos is now half rich

  • Ebay is shooting itself in the foot. 1 transaction, minimum $100??? First they ditch 1% cashrewards and now that..
    Amazon all the way.

  • -1

Lol my negative vote is revoked, why?

It's not a good deal. 5% off you can get better deals through Amazon cashback for starters with no minimum.

  • I think eBay is having a hard time making $$. Between the $1 weekend selling fees and the 10-15% off ebay giftcards, where are they getting the their revenue from?

    • Paypal fees.

The giftcards only make up a tiny amount of total sales. They were limited to 50 pounds discount or less per transaction and not everyone knew about them.

A ton of transactions go on each day with no discount code. That's where the money is made.

  • I've been waiting for THIS! (I must be the only one)
    Just saved me nearly $50.

Funny thing is I've got another purchase to make, but for the first time, these 5% are limited to one transaction…

And even funnier still, I've tried to use my other eBay accounts for the second purchase and NONE of them work - "This code cannot be applied"

When I was browsing before, it would give the little green discounted price - you hover over the price and a box would come up with the code PUSH5. But now, after I've used it just now, nothing. With all my accounts.

But if I log out and check out as a guest… PUSH5 works!!!

    Very odd…

    • Sounds like you mad a substantial purchase. I would've waited for the 10% off which should be coming soon.

      • He would have spent almost $1000.

I'd have waited for a bigger discount also.

      • I won an auction a few days ago, but hadn't paid yet, finalising some postage details.

So there was no waiting possible. Only hope for something… And it came!

My second purchase was something I had committed to buying (buy it now) because it was likely someone else would buy it soon. Then found out I couldn't use PUSH with any of my other accounts!

So I ask the seller to relist it, and created an entirely new account, and it worked! Another $50 saved.

I'll be interested for everyone's thoughts as this sounds like a new development for Ebay…

  • ebay going down the shitter

  • Bring back 15%

  • Only $50 max discount too. Originally upvoted this deal as I was about to purchase a $3k oled but not worth it for $50.

    • I had about 4.5k in my cart waiting for a deal but since this was it, I re-evaluated and decided most was discretionary spending, so I removed it and decided to save my money.

In a way this deal has saved me a bundle as I have nothing I "need" to buy :)

      Thank You eBay Australia :)

  • +1

224 upvotes??? Damn. People are either getting richer or dumber.

    • +1

      Getting richer AND dumber

  • Is this fast becoming the most negged deal?

  • eBay Australia is getting ridiculous now.
