Hilton Gold includes Continental Breakfast, it cost extra for cooked items like eggs, meat etc but some international hotels have offered full buffet as an upgrade as well as executive lounge access

    • +4

Hotels and resorts in Asia are certainly more generous on membership benefits and perks.

    • +1

Correct, some hotels/resorts go above and beyond and provide the full buffet for Gold guests.

Some higher end resorts like Conrad Maldives, Conrad Bora Bora and Conrad Koh Samui - this is these resorts going above and beyond which is truly appreciated for such high end (and expensive) resorts in the Hilton portfolio.

Conrad Manila is very nice too

        • Indeed and Hilton manila as well is great! bigger executive lounge and pool area than conrad.although Conrad's manila bay view is unbeatable. These 2 plus johor Bahru Doubletree in my experience were not so strict with the no.of guests you bring to the exec.lounge…maybe we had been lucky.

Hilton Sydney treats you like trash even if you’re diamond BUT the one thing they do well is let gold/diamond take the full breakfast, which is one of the best around.

      • Really? I’ve stayed there about 6 times and had exec lounge upgrade every time and nothing but great service, that’s on Gold

    Not working for me :/

    • You might have to try a few times. I can't test as I no longer have a Visa Signature card.

      • Try a few times?

I spoke to customer care and they have confirmed the registration page is down and asked me to try after a few days. Ridiculous.

        • -8

Did you call A number from the official visa webpage? Better be cautious and suspend your card to be safe. Website doesn’t look legit.

          • +2

@josephlee80: Not sure why you think its unsafe? There are many legit Visa promotions on this domain and it's registered by VISA itself. Perhaps you should provide some facts to back up your claim before neg all my posts?

Tried to register, got the same error message as well.

Thanks OP. I got this deal a year back and it's given me gold for 24 months. I've saved hundreds on free buffet breakies in Asia, especially when booking more than one room on the same booking as the additional rooms also received free breakfast. Amazing.

    • Wow really? Thought the benefit doesn't apply across multiple bookings.

      • Yeah I'm surprised. Was told on a recent stay only one room got benefits so had to pay for breakfast on the other.

      • Yup. Worked at Doubletree JB where I had 3 rooms booked. Maybe I was lucky. Haven't done it since (was a one off holiday with lots of family) and no plans to do it again. Saved us over $250 in breakfast costs.

  • 'Anyone know any fee free Visa Signature cards issued in Australia? I used to have free annual fee Citibank Signature card but had to cancel when I was applying for mortgage..'

Very bad mistake. That fee free for life will never be recovered as the current Citibank Signature is no longer offering fee free.

I would probably apply with different broker or lender instead of giving up this.

Having said that, thanks for the bargain. I never used Hilton but when I go to Japan next, I might stay at Hilton.

    • Said card might have had a 40K credit limit.

      • Not 40k but I was given 16k, which still causes issue with my credit profile.

        • could have asked for the credit limit to be reduced instead?

          • +1

@Love a bargain: $15k is the min on the Citibank signature that I have.

If I wanted to reduce they would downgrade the card to platinum

            • +2

@dbun1: Had the same issue last year. Explained my issue to Citibank and cancelled the card. They gave me 3 months to reapply with the same benefits (FFL). After the mortgage paperwork was signed and amount settled, I reapplied for my Citibank signature
              .

              • @mtfranklin: I didn't know that. I will give them a call and give this a try. Thanks for the info.

              • @mtfranklin: Was there anything particular that you said or any specific people/department that you spoke with to get that deal?

The CBA mortgage that I'm about to start is requiring me to cancel my Signature card, which is free-for-life. I've spoken with Citibank a few times and they say that they cannot guarantee FFL when I try and re-join because they're bound by whatever offers are available at the time.

                • @kranix: Updating myself: Citibank told me that because of new legislation which came in this year they can no longer reactivate cancelled cards. It looks like I have no choice but to completely cancel my FFL card :(

                • @kranix: For my mortgage in March 2018, CBA had an issue with my credit limit at $30000. They wanted me to reduce it to $6k, however signature card the minimum is 15k. So initially I wanted Citi to reduce my credit limit and they said they cannot but then said that I have 3 months to reapply. Without the cancellation of the card documents, CBA were not going to finalize.

                • @kranix: I would have gone to a broker but now they're effectively "banning" brokers…. shit….

The Royal Commission is certainly now starting to hurt innocent people got caught in the crossfire.

If possible, try using another lender.

    • Same situation here, very sad,, gave it up when applying for my first mortgage

      • +1

I recon that is pretty much a myth. Don't tell them you have it, and if they find it in your credit file you just say you cancelled it last week (takes ages for credit reporting to come through). CBA, ANZ and a couple of credit unions didn't care, I had multiple high end cards active. Last resort is the 3 month reapply process.

Looks like a phishing scam to me as well! Be careful.

  • The one provided by Westical looks legit to me.

As for OP's link, I did click a few but did not provide any detail (that is, didn't put the last 4 digit number)

  • +1

No clue if these are legit or not.

But DAMN they have done a great job on those websites to make them look so much like a phishing scam…..

On the first attempt, the registration failed. Then I called the 1800 number from the PDF (link in the registration fail message). Pressed 3 for Signature Concierge.
Talked to the Visa agent and he mentioned they have been receiving complaints about the link not working after a user enters Hilton credentials, and that Visa has taken up the issue with Hilton.
The agent called Hilton for me and got me registered.

  • Be warned, many Hilton's refuse to give you any gold benefits of you don't book direct with them/the Hilton website.

Check directly first if you intend to book through a 3rd party.

    • +1

Pretty sure all Hiltons will not recognise status if booked through 3rd party like expedia or hotels.com.

The only exception I’ve encountered is booking through work’s corporate travel agency. They were able to pass on my membership number to Hilton and I was earning points/status as usual.

    • Hilton has always beaten rates found on 3rd party booking sites when I've called customer service. Haven't stayed in one for a few years though, so policy may have changed.

    • Of course they don't, it's in the program t&c. The only reason they give benefits to members is so they don't have to pay a commission to booking agents such as Expedia and the likes.

  • 1) The recent St George Bank card that was promoted is Visa signature.
    2) Does anyone know if it has to be a stay at Hilton or do affiliated hotels like Double Tree or Hilton Garden Inn work?

    • +1

DT or any Hilton-brand will work. Even Honors redemptions will do it. I did it this way last year and it worked.

      • Thats interesting, so you can just register and then use points twice and youll get it? Thought it would have some condition for actual spend on the card youre registering lol

        • +1

I also heard point redemption works.

          • +2

@arctan: It certainly worked for me. I dropped 10,000 at the DT JB and a further 5,000 at the HI DPS a few weeks later. Cheapest way to earn Gold that I know of. I did a similar thing 4 years ago when I first discovered this lark but with more expensive properties in BKK (the Hilton and DT are next door to each other - Simples).

  • Does anyone know if Hilton Honors membership has physical membership card or we just put membership number in booking then they will know?
I have membership from Macquarie card but never have a chance to use it yet :(

    • I recently joined and used Hilton Honors membership. I only got the membership number in email. No physical card.

      • +1

Just download HHonors app and use that to book room or show the membership card.

  • I'm being told you have to be silver tier first by visa concierge

    • Same, and they want my HH password to register on my behalf…

  • I have also been told I have to be silver tier first by visa concierge. She said they were in negotiation with Hilton and advised me to send a screenshot of the promotion to them. I didn't see any mention of silver status anywhere in the terms and conditions.

    • I couldn’t either.

  • Do we think this will work with day rates and not overnight stays?

    • Day rates normally count towards stay and points?

      • Dunno ever tried lol

      • I've emailed them now to ask if it qualifies still. To be honest, when i read the T&C's I don't see why it wouldn't qualify

        • Thank you for your inquiry regarding reservations. We appreciate you taking the time to contact us.

Please be informed as per Hilton policies A "stay" is defined as the total number of consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, whether or not a guest checks out and checks back in again. Day reservations are not counted towards promotional requirements or elite up gradation, I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.

  • I am currently gold from the last fast track offer, due to expire March 2020. Anyone know if we are eligible to do this again to extend I'm guessing to March 2021?

  • Thanks Op. Do we need to use the same signature card for booking or we can just book with any card and then show our membership number to count the stay towards this promo ? Thanks !

  • Got denied with my citibank signature card

  • Have two signature cards, St George and NAB Qantas both denied.

    • Call VISA and let them know. Some people registered that way.

  • ANZ Black FF also unsuccessful

Called concierge and they are aware of an issue. They just take down your Hilton Honor number and email so they can manually register you. Said it was being escalated and would be in contact within 7-14 days.

Anyone able to get them to register it immediately or is this the case?

    • Just registered today, it works for me. And after successful registration, it says 2 weeks approval and I will receive email once approved.

      • what link did you use?

EDIT: Visa promotions link is working. Visa website link is down

  • I called up Visa today and they said manual process is approx 15 business days.

Otherwise, she said to try next week online. I just waited as opposed to leaving my details.

  • looks to be removed from the visa website now :/

  • +1
    • Thanks I have updated the link.

      • Thanks for the updated link. I successfully signed up to the promotion using my Citibank Signature card.

  • Also for anyone curious, you need to pay with the visa card that it was registered. advice from hilton

  • Anyone got confirmation of upgraded to gold from base level? Or is the silver thing real?

  • No luck with the new link. "Registration is unsuccessful…" Perhaps the silver status requirement is real (I was downgraded from gold to member last year). Called up Visa Concierge and they claimed that the link should work, but has escalated to Hilton Honors. Let's see if they get back…

  • If I book 2 nights now, can I get gold benefit for the 2 nights straight away?

    • No, you need to do the stays.

It's also 2 stays not just 2 nights

  • Anyone got the gold status yet?

    • Yes I did get this and have already used it few times now.

      • Thanks ozshaz, did you have to use your visa signature to pay? or can you pay with another card after registering? cheers

        • when i asked hilton it was visa signature that you registered with.

          • @chb: nothing in the t&c say you have to pay using visa signature though…

            • @cache: Can always try and argue it.

I'm just passing on what Hilton told me in an email
