Samsung Galaxy S10 128GB + Samsung Galaxy Buds with 3GB Monthly Data (+Bonus) for $65.78/Mth over 24 Months @ Woolworths Mobile

1690

You can preorder the S10 128gb at Woolworths. Free Samsung Galaxy Buds worth $250. The cheapest plan is $65.78 which gives you unlimited calls/sms and 3gb. However when signing up you get 15 gb bonus data. You then get another 20gb every 3 months (they call it school holidays bonus), but you need to add it manually. The data rolls over and is kept in a bank up to 100gb. Hence you would have approximately 10gb a month with the bonuses. If you finish all the data internet stops, but you can decide to add on 1gb @$10.

Also you can add unlimited International calls to 10 countries + 300min to 21 countries for $5. It used to be $15 few weeks ago now reduced to 5.

Check here about the bonus data https://mobile.woolworths.com.au/offers/bonus-holiday-data.h…

Don’t forget $50 cash back via Cashrewards.

Overall cost $1578.72 ($1528.72 if you count cashback)

If you are willing to pay $75,78 you will get 10gb data plus the other bonuses (which will take to approximately 17gb a month).

  • Looks like s10 512G and s10 plus 512G are dual sim.

    • Is this true for all carriers

      • Don't know others, at least WWS mobile has specified.

    • I just verified that both are dual SIM via live chat, and then placed an order for the S10 512GB model. I've saved the chat transcript (had to copy-paste it) and a screengrab of their website so that if a single-SIM one turns up I've got a good reason for returning.

      • You mean 128G also dual sim?

        • No, only both of the ones that you mentioned: S10 and S10+ in 512GB. All other models are single-SIM only.

  • For those of you who pre ordered one. Which case are you going to get?

  • +2

I posted the same deal 5 hours before this one and missed out on the love, dang it, could have been my first front pager. Next time I guess.

    • You exist in my eyes, buddy! 😍

    • I up voted your deal - Ozbargain can be a strange place sometimes.

    • I upvoted your deal too!

      • Me too.
We'll get to over 140 likes if we all pitch in…

  • Just got this deal. How long will it take until the order is confirmed?
I just got an email with the title of "Your order is being processed".
First time trying to get a phone off a plan :)

    • Same email to me as well, I think once dispatched it will remain 'under process'.

      • Oh right, Ill let you know if there are any updates :)

        • Update - late Friday 22/02 I received few emails from WW Mobile team - one of them was an email advising my order is confirmed. Other were - welcome, setup online portal etc.

  • When do you have to activate once you purchase this? My current plan runs out in 2 months.

  • Great deal, thanks for posting. I ordered 512Gb s10+ - was going to order 128GB but then realised that 512gb variant is dual sim - which is quite handy.

    • why dual sim? what are the advantages?

      • My S9+ was also dual sim - i found it really handy while travelling overseas - can use local and Aus sim at once. Also when local, I use my work sim and personal sim on 1 device. saves carrying 2 devices at all times.

      • +2

You can buy a cheap data sim from Kogan or Amaysim and use it as backup data. If you work in say a hospital and your primary sim does not have good reception there, you can get a second one as a backup to make calls with.

For me, I'm in the process of changing to a premium number. It will take time for this to transition. People will still be calling me on my old number. I will need to keep both in the same phone just in case someone calls me on my old number.

      • The big advantage that is that you dont need to carry a second phone such as a work phone and remember to keep the damn thing charged!

    • What's the monthly cost for that one?

      • Ordered on 36 month plan - $64.41 per month. I wanted to spread the payments. I will most probably cancel after 12 months and pay cost of the handset.

  • so is any telco or retailer actually giving a bonus for pre ordering? Yes, Samsung is giving earbuds as a bonus but that's from Samsung.

What is any telco or retailer offering that is a bonus to sign up with them? Palming off the manufacturer bonus as an incentive is a bit lame.

    • historically it is evident that the telcos dont offer anything materialistic for pre-orders. They do offer discounts, extra data and so on. even this WW deal has monthly discounts. The $20 plan I ordered came with $8.70 discount. $12 per month for unlimited calls and some data in not bad IMO.

How do we get/choose the colour of the galaxy buds?

    • White only. I made an order, asked if i could pick and she said theres only white so I cancelled my order.

      • Isn't there a fee to cancel your order though?
edit: there is no early termination charges, but
        a) you will need to pay the Minimum Monthly Charge and any outstanding charges owing on your Plan; and
        b) all outstanding charges and unpaid installments under your Handset Payment Plan will immediately become due and
        payable.
which means if I decided to cancel the plan in a years time, would I just be able to pay for the rest of the 12 months in one go, or is there a catch to this?

        • +1

There would be a cooling off period, especially since it is still a preorder.

  • +1

Almost signed up and got caught out. FYI Woolworths Mobile Service do not have international roaming not even as an add on, so this mobile plan can only be used within Australia. This is a major issue for me during overseas travel as I do 2 step authentication for banking using incoming sms which are free on Optus. I have confirmed in Live Chat, maybe add this to the OP.
    https://imgur.com/a/L0kLl6m

    • That sucks a bit.
Although with my current S7, roaming never worked anyway

    • Looks like their are apps you can install that will auto forward incoming SMS to an email address. So it would require you to put your Sim in an old phone (we all have one don't we?) While you are overseas using a travel Sim.

Not a bad alternative for someone who only travels occasionally… Probably not ideal if you are a businessman who is constantly on overseas travel, but really, what type of businessman at that level is signing up for Woolworths mobile…

I just changed to the S10+ plan from my current S8+ plan with Woolies. Few things to note:
    1. 15GB start up data does not apply for returning customers
    2. If your current plan has not finished yet, you can still get this new plan and get the $59 early termination charge waived if you call them
    i. but in doing that, you cannot get the $50 Cashrewards cashback.
ii. apparently I don't need to pay for the remaining one month part of my current S8+ plan.
    3. returning Woolies rewards customers also get an extra 5000 points (=$25 cash)
    4. this deal is only valid for the preorder period.

still a good deal in my opinion. $72.03/month for S10+ compared to my current $69/month for my S8+. pretty much got a month waived from my s8+ plan as well!
if my S8+ plan simply rolled over, the 4GB data with unlimited calls/text + 120 min international call would cost $50/month!!

    • Damn, that 15GB bonus would have been great. I'm gonna call them tomorrow and see what they can do in regards to the termination fee and 15GB

    • Hey mate, can you just confirm where you found that we won't receive the 15GB start up bonus?

I'm sure I sure either on here or the whirlpool forums the Woolworths rep Rod say that recontracting people would keep their current data bank (not that we had that on the S8 plans) as well as receive the bonus 15GB. So I figured we'd be getting it too. Hopefully Rod can confirm, I saw he posted on here earlier.

  • All new S series preorders get the Buds. I watched the unpacking and really liked S10+. Not the price though.

  • Pixel 3xl or s10+ if $ is not an issue?

    • +1

Gotta be S10+ IMO, the only thing pixel has going for it really is photography, the preliminary results from dxo mark show the S10+ outshining the pixel 3 series but we'll have to wait for the full review to confirm.

  • +1

How do I get it down to $65?
    Edit- nevermind I'm stupid 😂

  • I asked this once in a reply, but hopefully I can get a firm answer- if I take up this cheapest plan, with the intention of just paying out the plan (ie cancelling after one month), how much will I pay all up for the S10?
A few commenters have mentioned it will be all up well below RRP, which if so, I would do. I don't want to leave my current byo sim plan at Telstra which is 30gb and unlimited calls/texts for $39 ongoing.
And I was going to buy the S10 outright, but if this is a guarenteed cheaper way to do it, then I shall go with it.
    Cheers!

    • +1

It says: Total minimum cost $1,368.92, which is above retail.

Could be a bit more, but that is minimum.

So I suggest you wait a few months, then look for a reduced price somewhere.

    • +1

You better read the fine print on the website and also chat to Woolworths.

    • For the 24 month plan, you will pay full RRP minus $10.42 if cancelled after one month. The advertised "Save $250" is a $10.42 monthly discount applied to the handset fee.

      T&C's
Offer available to customers who purchase a new and approved Woolworths Mobile Phone Plan with an eligible handset between 21 February and 28 February 2019 or while stocks last. Discount shall be applied to the Handset Payment Plan ("HPP") in equal monthly instalments across the term of the HPP, while on an eligible Mobile Phone Plan. If the HPP is terminated early prior to the expiration of its term, then any discounts that were not applied prior to termination shall be forfeited.

  • Question. If I were to go the 36 month plan ($60.52/month) but cancel it after 24 months, how much would I have to pay? It says I have to pay a minimum monthly charge and any outstanding charges and unpaid installments under the plan. What are the installments?

Since the minimum monthly charge is 20$ + handset price is $37.47. With 12 months left on the contract it would be 12x$37.47=$449. So would that be the installment prices?

    • The 36mth plan is the same cost for the phone, divided by 36, plus the $20 a month plan fee.
So it will be an extra 12 x $20 ($240) over the 24mth plan.
So it makes no sense to take the 36mth plan.

      • What if you just wanted to pay less monthly? If I were to cancel the plan a year early I would just need to pay out the remaining cost of the handset right?

  • If existing contract expires in April, can we get this one and not pay anything?

    • +3

      with Woolies mobile?

      If so, see above:

Thanks. Got it over phone finally as getting $59 waiver is better than $50 cashback which we get after few months and might not validate due to existing account. 15 GB start up is only for new accounts.

I got recontracted online with $59 waiver and also used cashrewards. Got confirmation through cashrewards of approved sale.

@paradizex: How far off were you from finishing your previous plan? Mine was ending at the end of May so I went with the safe route of calling them and saving $70 (out of $114) on my cancellation fee.

            • +1

@mrnmt: Mine was expiring in April. I did also received a message saying that "Your contract expires soon, which means you can upgrade your plan". I guess you made the right choice.

Preordered over the phone. I got $70 waived from my termination fee. All around good deal.

  • Would anybody be able to tell me whether these phones are unlocked?
If they are, the lack of overseas roaming would not be an issue, as you can just use a local SIM

    • Pretty sure these phones are not locked to any network

How come no one is considering the atelstra $109/month S10+ 128gb deal where you will get a new S10+ 256gb 5G after a few months.

    • +2

Maybe because is double the price each month? If you don’t need all that data it’s a waste.

  • +1

    Alright guys I need convincing!

I'm really wanting to get the 3 year s10+ 128g 3g plan, and have never bought a new ranged phone because of how much it is, but I'm pretty keen to get this.

But! There's the part of me saying it's ridiculous paying that much and should just get a cheap xiaomi or an s7 or something :(

I on occasion play a few games, but do watch a fair bit on my phone (mostly on WiFi).

Please give me any of your feelings, feedback, thoughts and advice!

    • +1

If you can afford it and you want it get it. If is too expensive don’t. The bonus is that you get free earbuds and you spread the cost. You could also get the S10e that’s just $46 over 3 years. How much do you spend on sim each month? If you spend about $20, for $26 more you get the latest phone.

      • +1

I'm pretty set on the s10+ if I'm going to do it.

Right now I'm with kogan sim only 3g month for $140 a year. So dirt cheap! But 3g isn't enough, but the 3g plan of this should give about 7-10g

        • When you sign up you get 15gb, so the first 3 months you would have to live with about 8gb. After the 3 months you can add bonus of 30gb, which can be used as you please (data bank up to 100gb). So you would have to watch only the first 3 months according to your usage, however If you don’t want to be watching you usage all the time the upper plan makes sense.

    • +1

I just signed up for the S10+ 128gb over 24 months on the 10gb plan, coming from an LG G6 which is starting to have issues recognising sim cards. This is easily the most I've ever spent on a monthly phone plan, normally I grab the phone outright ages after release with an eBay coupon and jump on a prepaid or sim only plan.

My theory is that I spend more time now than ever using my phone on a daily basis, so picking up a device that offers an enjoyable experience is probably worthwhile. I could absolutely make do with an S9 or a Pixel 2 XL or whatever else is a few hundred bucks cheaper, but the increase in price, spread out over 2 years, is worth it to me in this instance.

      • Yeah you sound like you're in the same boat as me then!

Why did you decide to go the 10g plan over the 3, as you will still get extra bonus data anyway?

I do feel like the s10+ has a few nicer extras compared to older phones

        • I find that I use about 8-10gb of data every month, so I didn't really want to rely on the bonus data lining up with the months I need to use it most.

  • +3

Ordered S10+ 128 GB with 3GB plan for $64.83/month over 24 months after 10% Woolies Staff Discount

    • +1

      Wow that's a really good deal !

    • I'm also staff- how do you apply staff discount? Couldn't see it anywhere?

      • just put ur rewards card number where it says woolworths rewards number

    • Hi Aemit, do you know if I can apply my friend’s staff discount to my order?

      • Keen to know this as well !

      • +1

it works…try it out…u get the discount n ur friend gets extra point if any

        • Thx, I will order tomorrow.

    • Can i be your friend to use the discount? ;)

    • Do you know if this invalidates the $50 cashback from Cash Rewards?

  • Another different thing I don't understand here. The s10+ 128g, 3g plan over 36 month says $54.68/month, and at the bottom says total minimum $1518.68, but 53.68x36= 1968.48..

So do we pay nearly 2 grand for the phone and plan over 3 years? :/

    • That’s correct. 3 years of phone calls and sim is worth $720 so phone is costing $1200 approximately. if you consider that rrp is $1500. You are getting 3 year is calls for $480 dollars, if you get Cashrewards is only $430 for 3 years of calls and about 10 gb a month of data.

      • +1

I realise it never took off the $250 from those plans after.

I'll definitely use the cash rewards thank you!

I think I'm going to go for it! :)

        • If you want that phone is not a bad deal, it’s like getting free finance. Please note that the 2 years might work out better though, if you are willing to pay a bit more each month.

          • @fozzie: Well looking at it the difference between the deals works outto be $20/month, so technically the last year is just paying for the plan, which 8g for $20 isn't 'terrible', although who knows how much the plans will be then!! And most of the data I use is on wifi

            • @Littlebob86: Yes, it is.

              So better off with 24mths.
              Plans are always getting cheaper

  • +1

Very interested in grabbing the S10E deal
Can any kind person on Woolworths network comment on how it performs? E.g. coverage, speed
    Thanks !

    • +1

I'm in QLD and have been with Woolworths mobile since the S8 release day (2 years basically) and I also have a work supplied iPhone through Telstra, I travel quite regularly out west around Roma and places like that and I'm yet to have noticed any areas where I had reception with Telstra but nothing with Woolworths, so I'm very happy with it.

I think unless you go very far off the beaten track regularly you'll be more than happy with it.

As far as speeds go I haven't had a problem there either, I know they cap them at 100mbps max, but really, that's as good as my FTTP NBN at home, so I can't complain.

      • Thanks mate. I'm based in NSW but assume coverage should be similar/better here hopefully. This is enough to persuade me to pull the trigger !!

  • +4

Thanks OP, Just ordered S10 on $65.78 plan. I was going to wait another year or at least a few more months before I upgraded my S7E but this deal has convinced me to upgrade now. This is a seriously good value considering free buds and extra data every 3 months.

  • +1

If I sign up to a contract is it:

    a) A contract to remain on that plan for the duration of the contract.

    OR

    b) A contract to remain with that specific carrier for the duration of the contract, and I will be able to switch plans (on the same carrier) if a better one comes up?

    • As far as I know most carrier offer A. There is some room sometimes to switch plans but only closer to expiry of the contract

    • Read fine print, or ask Woolies mobile.
I suspect a switch, of not cheaper would be fine.

  • Is anyone knows if the handset lock to telstra only? I’m intending to use this phone with my sim card from optus and give this sim to my partner for use in her phone.
