It's crazy how much more you pay for 4G versions of tablets

  • Can you use the $230 towards the $998 or do you have to spend $1228+ in total?

Keyboard and pen sold separately. Will pass & wait price drop…

    • Yes, I used the gift card to pay for the Surface Go

  • Hi I'm not sure about the payment per month for this offer.
Is it only $19/month for the tablet and 10Gb data? or $998 plus $19/month in 12 months?

Is it only $19/month for the tablet and 10Gb data?

$19 x 12 is only $228.. no business is that generous

      • I'm confused by this advertisement.

          $998 for the tablet outright

Plus you get the option of getting the 10gb data for an additional $19 a month, over a 12 month contract = $228.

If you take up both in the same transaction, you get the $230 gift card.

I really don't understand why anyone would buy this. Saw the offer yesterday and was confused.

    • I have never been into LTE version of the tablets. So the $698 offer would have been suffice for me.

That being said, if I were to ever look for an LTE version (I haven't seen the price drop at all!) … I would have to pay for a Sim card plan for data. In this case, the plan is pretty much free. I have also highlighted that the cheapest you can get the LTE version is from MS direct with the Amex offer.

In an other way, I am paying $768 for the device + $19 per month for the 10Gb of data.

      • But why not just share data from a Mobile? I don't see the justification in this…. I'm happy to be proven wrong but between this and Tablets I struggle to see the value of a monthly plan.

Though I also buy phones outright these days too…

        • I most certainly agree with you on sharing the data from the mobile! That's what I do with my Samsung tablet at the moment.

I can't justify spending separate for a plan even if it is $10 a month and also paying more for a LTE version of the tablet. Weird thing is, I have seen numerous posts here in the past where people love the idea of a separate plan for their lte ipads/tablets!

          • @aspirepranesh: You don't have to tether and therefore drain 2 devices. I've had an Samsung note 8.0 LTE for a few year and it was handy not to have to rely on tethering.
$19 for 10gb is not too bad, would expect better price on the tablet

            • @ShouldIBuyIt: That's an interesting argument as well. Only time I use the tablet is when I am travelling and I generally carry my power bank. So never had to worry about it.

And 10gb is not too bad for $19 with telstra.

The $230 gift card kinda make the tablet cost $768 for the LTE version, as opposed to the lowest price of $698 for the non LTE version. $70 more for the LTE version!

              • @aspirepranesh: It's not clear if you can use the gc towards the tablet, or if it's for your next purchase. I guess you could always use the gc for the keyboard/pen if the later…

@ShouldIBuyIt: I am sure you cant use it towards the purchase of the tablet. That's why I used the word kinda. You're paying ahead to buy a Jb GC I guess and you could use it for anything else.

@aspirepranesh: You need to try always on internet in a laptop or tablet. It’s hard to go back.
