How is this a bargain again? A dodgy eBay seller selling a product they probably don't have any actual stock of at a price that's likely higher than what the RRP will be.

    • -5

can you provide a link to this product at a better price?

      • -1

Can you provide a link as to what other prices are?

        • -1

Asking me my same question but re-worded. This seems to be the best deal for this phone in Australia as of right now. I was asking someone who negged the deal to justify the neg

    • Clearly not a bargain and a "look at this item" posting.

      • worst case it's a price. It may be a bad price or it could be a good price - at the moment this is the only advertised Australian model deal.

        • Are you forgetting what the premise of this website is? Keyword being bargain. This is definitely not a bargain. The fact that you say yourself it may be a bad price pretty much sums it up.

Just because it's the first available doesn't mean it's worthy of being posted as a 'deal'.

    phone people are funny

  • +6

    Bought one.
    Stoked about the free delivery.

  • What are the benefits of foldable screen? Can anyone shed some lights? Thanks.

    • +1

A large screen that fits in your pocket.

    • +1

Just a tablet that can fold. If you take full use of a tablet then this phone is good. I wanted one but now, logically speaking, I don't need it cause I have no use for a larger screen.

    • +1

As above, a larger screen that fits in your pocket.
To me the main appeal is the novelty. It flips outwards like an old school mobile phone, and we've never seen folding screens like this before.
The screen itself is an impractical 4:3 aspect ratio, and not much bigger than say the S10 5G which is 6.7 inches and the Fold 7.3. So only one and half centimeters for a much higher price.

Personally I think Huawei's version is much more appealing. The Fold looks bad in the folded mode by comparison.

    • +1

      Awesome VR experience.

  • Only way I'd ever have this kind of phablet is if it was work paying for it or something like that lol

    • Think of it as a prototype or proof of concept for now. In the future they will likely be cheaper.

  • Wonder what iPhone will be released this year.

If still the same old design iPhone is on the way out

    • XI.

      Same thing but thinner notch.

  • +3

Don't forget to pick up the $80,000 PS4 Pro while you're looking at their store.

    • Wtf is this

    • Warranty: Yes

    • I'm pretty sure I could hire a team of artists to manufacture a whole bunch of these for a lot less… why so much? Insane.

  • +2

Holy shit balls I paid less for my 65 inch OLED tv

  • Wow the prices for these

  • Should diamond crust them so they can add couple more thousands of $$$$ to the RRP.

  • -2

lmao wonder how the android users will flip this, they always bitch about iPhones being so expensive

    • There are no bendable iphones yet, so not an apples to apples comparison.

There are bendable iPads but those don't count.

  • +1

This is easily $600 north of the likely Australian MSRP ($3200).

  • Opt for a cheaper alternative
    *here:
    - bend your phone screen

    • Or buy an iPhone 6.

      • Or the Galaxy S4, or BlackBerry Q10, or Xperia Z1. Long list of Android phones have bent as well.

  • -2

    Thanks OP bought 10.

  • How are there 42 likes on this?

    • -2

      because it's a good deal??

    • That is the answer to life the universe and everything!

  • +1

Wow this is not what I imagined when I thought ‘looks like 4K Phones are going to start coming into the market’

  • +1

What advantages does this device have over, say, a train - which I could also afford?

  • Thanks. Bought 2.

  • I doubt they have stock in hand, release date for this phone is around April. The listing states delivery will be on or befroe 9 April even if you were to pay an extra $40 for the express shipping option.

  • +1

Dodgy eBay store. Just look at their 80k ps4 pro for sales LOL

  • Where are all the haters who usually pop in to comment how iPhones are expensive

  • Thanks op bought 2.
One for myself and one for my cat.

  • -1

"BAHHAHAHAHAHAHA Iphone X almost $2000 what a rip off!!!!"

    Samsung; Hold my beer.

  • I wonder if the $199 Telstra unlimited phone plan will cover this phone or the Huawei X with $0 mobile repayment. I would like to grab one of these phone.

  • +1

With the Tesla discounts I can easily buy one of these.

  • Official Galaxy fold Australian release date is

    26th of April 2019.

you don't need to pay 4k now.

    just wait one month.

  • -1

i reckon this folding phone trend is awesome

id never buy one for the price they are asking right now but with how stuff gets cheaper there will probably be $400 folding phones in like 3 or 4 years and they will almost be standard

id never buy a phone for more than $500 but people keep buying expensive samsungs and apples and the advances of them trickles down to my $300 budget phone i buy every 3 years or so

so im hoping they completely sell out and keep designing them
thumbs up for the rich guys buying this

    • +1

We used to have folding HTC and Nokia back in the day. Repairing a break in the ribbon cable connecting the two sides would cost as much as a new phone.

  • -1

When you don't want buy Apple, but you want to show you're as dumb as an Apple buyer…

  • Thanks Op, bought 3

  • And you guys thought 2080Ti's were Expensive…

  • +2

What even if this. Is this Australian stock? Samsung haven't confirmed the device will be released in our country, as far as I know.
How are they selling an item that isn't available.
The real Galaxy Fold has a customisable hinge, you choose the colour.
I don't know what this listing is supposed to be. It doesn't say it's a preorder. It says we'll have the item in our hands between the 9th of April and the 15th but the release date for the US is the 26th.
I doubt they'd even send you the phone. Why throw away such a big purchase on a shonky eBay listing. It's probably a scam if anything.

  • +1

OMG!!! a phone costs as much as a fairly decent used car.

"There's a sucker born every minute" P.T. Barnum

  • Don’t risk your life. This is waiting for disaster to happen. Someone could hurt you at knife point for this. Shouldn’t cost more than $2k. This will eventually come down to less than a thousand in near future.

    • near future, what like half a decade is near in your book?

    • Well, if this technology is a success, that means that phone price in general will go up. 10 years ago paying $500 you could get a flagship phone, but when Iphone and Galaxy note come out with $1000 price tag, everyone think that it will eventually come down but no it just makes phone more and more expensive. Nowadays its considered normal to pay $2000 for a phone.

  • Does this come with at least a free frogurt??

  • What is this - an amargedon deal on my pocket?

Tears my pocket (and wallet) in half.

    No thanks.

  • +1

Too expensive. Still prefer the original flip phone Motorola Razr v3 (and 8088):

    https://www.ebay.com.au/b/Motorola-RAZR-V3-Mobile-Phones/935…

    • They're releasing a folding version of that phone this year. I'm buying.

    • I won that phone from Foxtel promo, I think it rsp for around $600! I loved it

  • I wonder if this is already the finalized price in Aus. Seems rather high given it's less than $2000 in the US

  • +1

might return the tesla for this

  • +1

    No headphone jack, deal killer.

But seriously, folded it looks way too chunky, like a Samsung Blackjack. I am not sure folding is such a requirement. I mean big screen phones are getting taller but slimmer, solution? Don't get bulkier, just go wider again.

  • Thanks, think I'll stick with my LG V20 with a cracked yet still functional screen that cost 1/10th of this.

  • +1

My laotop can easily beat this thing and it is foldable too! Cost me half of this thing but just cant make phone calls… 🐕

    • You can forward your mobile calls thru Skype or something 😆

    • Fit that thing in your pocket though.

  • 4K?

    BARGAIN!

  • Not even officially released yet.

  • +1

Between this and the $160k Tesla deal, I just cant decide…

  • Not even if it was free

  • i think samsung is making a big mistake with this price. they could make alot more money and move way more phones if they drop the price. this might even be a loss for them. other companies are going to release way better and cheaper folding phones before samsung has a new model.

    • Yeah, if you watch the conference they go on about how powerful the processor is, how intricate the hinge is, and how it has six cameras, but in reality they should have cut back on those features and let the screens speak for themselves. Price is too high.

  • Seller looks dodgy with inflated prices on other products. Add to the fact it's not even released yet.

I'm all for the future of foldable phones but I'd give the first gen a miss.

It's interesting how we spent so many years making phones as small as we could, and now we are making them bigger again.

Speaking of new ideas, whatever happened to modular phones?

    • Modular phones pretty much fizzled out, Motorola and LG both made and they didn't take off

  • How is this even remotely close to the expected $2k USD RRP?
There's aussie tax, and then there's this seller.

  • I could by 2 Hisense 75P7 and have money leftover… the hell?

  • Wow. This has got to be the most ridiculous product to hit the market in years.

    • +1

This is a scam listing. Product won't be released for months.

  • How many FPS does it get in Crysis?

  • imagine having to buy a new screen

  • I'm waiting for the day I see someone drop this

Cause Fark I wonder how much it's gonna cost to repair

    • The new iPhone screens cost around 600 for an Apple repair

  • +1

Massive rip off price.. If I want big screen, I'll get an tablet or laptop

  • This will go down as the biggest dud.

  • +3

    THIS CANNOT BE REAL!!

Samsung hasn't even started selling the phone. I believe, this is a SCAM!!!

  • Can I buy half of it?

    • S10

  • $4k for a phone? Bargain!

  • 83 people like this post…..

I'm sure there will be a few more soon enough

    • The ebay bots are hard at work ;)

  • +1

This isn't a deal, it's a pre-order. GTFO of here with this tripe.

  • Beside price and weight concerns, I cannot consider a touched device with folded screen before folded temper glass is also installed all above the screen.

  • I'll wait for the Samsung Triptych.

  • Not even released!

  • I thought I was looking at a fridge!

  • It’s a Samsung guys, wait 6 months after release and the price will drop by 40%, if you can wait a year, it will be even cheaper.
