Hello all,
Google has finally launched Youtube Premium in India for INR 129(AUD ~2.60) and Family Membership for INR 189 (AUD ~3.80).
Comes with Youtube Music, No Ads in Youtube as well as Google Play Music.

I have signed up after cancelling Russian plan with my Macquarie Debit card so no conversion charges.

Everything included in post by @Dealbot applies here too.

Youtube Premium will give you access to -
• Ad-free videos: Watch videos without interruptions
• Save offline: Save videos and songs on your mobile device to watch offline
• Background play: Keep videos or music playing when using other apps or when your screen’s off
• Audio mode: Listen to audio only on the YouTube Music app
• Google Play Music Subscription (when available in your country) is included at no additional cost

Current pricing is $14.99 per month in Australia. This workaround should work for new and existing customers.

Again, the trick to making this work is having access to a VPN service. If you're signed up to one then the rest of the process should be fairly simple.

Instructions -
1. Connect a VPN to the server India (I connected to Bangalore)
2. Click on Paid Memberships(youtube.com), then click on Learn more.

      As ozrex said, make sure your VPN is disconnected.

      When I opened it up it asked for my location to determine what music to suggest. Perhaps it did the same thing but you had a VPN attached.

        I suspect we're stuck with the Indian recommendations. A small price to pay for cheap ad free YouTube IMHO.

        You never know, the Indian music might grow on us…… As an Anglo Gen X ,it's unlikely,but not totally improbable.

    I never browse suggested music in Google Play Music, and I only search artists/albums/songs and occasionally play the radio suggestion for an artist. Will I notice any difference with an Indian account?

    Awesome, it seems to grant you a second trial also, got the Family Plan for the first month because it's $0.00 first month anyway.

    However, Seems I made and removed a Family Group in the past year and it won't let me add anyone to my family until the 52 weeks has been reached, anyone know how to fix this, I have a Family Plan now without the ability to add anyone.

    Just cancelled my Premium paid via iTunes but looks like I actually have to wait until it expires to re-sub again.

    It does show me the option for family plan for INR 189 though.

      You can resub over it for INR 189 and it'll charge you the INR amount next month.

      At least that's what happened for me when I cancelled my Russian sub

      If you click 'Learn more' on the bottom, you can actually subscribe to either personal or family immidiately. I'll suggest family all the way if you have anyone else who need this service.

    Anyone having problems trying the family subscription? Clicking the try it free for family on my mobile just darkens the screen as if something is going to come up, but nothing comes up.

    Clicking the try it free for individual does come up with the payment screen

          28 degrees credit and Citibank debit are working. Not particularly useful info as I'm sure you would have tried them if you had them.

          Worth getting a Citibank debit though, free, no international transaction fee (3%) and has worked for all recent international hacks listed on OB (YouTube,Hulu,netflix).

      You get a credit in your Google Account which you can use for the new subscription.

      I had $200AU credit on mine when i cancelled. So what thats like 4 years of family via India lol

    Good deal, but PSA:

    Just be very careful with Google. They have known to terminate peoples accounts and lock them out of Gmail and all other services for violating their ToS and very hard to speak to a real human to try and resolve this matter.

    I'd use a throw-away Google account for this just to be safe.

      Strongly agree with this. With photos and emails and whatnot, I can't really risk losing my primary Google account.

      If I didn't already have a standard Australian family account, I would consider this using a separate throwaway.

      Yeah, I've just used a throw away Google account. Originally intended for a 3 month trial, I was just going to delete it at the end of the three months and make a new one.

      Worst case scenario if they delete the account, all I've lost is my playlists.

    OK correct me if I am wrong. The below indicates you need to subscribe to GP Music and you get YT free. This deal indicates that if you sign up to YT you get GP music as well. Am I missing something?? Or is it just removing the adds in GP music if you already have it?

    Using Commonwealth Debit and a credit card

    It on the final page where you enter your card details and also the address.

          its all got to do with the payment profile on your google pay settings. remove the profile of the other country and keep it australia only. and it works fine. i just had the issue with the wifes account. removed the japanese profile and she is now able to be added to the family

              @MerryChristmas2018: so if the family manager account is australia. all family members must be australia only. if u invite family member who is from country 'x'. that family member must have australia as its only payment profiles. so he needs to remove all other countries payment profiles

                The manager account is still with India (as I have just joined). Had to change the other members to India and it works.
                Wondering if the main manager account will be affected with youtube subscription if we change its (manager account) payment profile and keep only the australia.
