  • Does BELONG SIM suport 4G bandwidth only? I inserted it to my 3G only phone and there is no network. I found only disabled Optus and Vodaphone network in setting.
    BELONG claims to support "Calls and 3G data use the 850Mhz and/or 2100Mhz bandwidths." on https://www.belong.com.au/mobile/coverage-map. My 3G phone definitely supports 3G bands HSDPA 2100.

    • Telstra turned off 2100 MHz 3G recently so to use Telstra-based service you need a phone supporting 850MHz 3G or 4G. Figured that out hard way.

          Cancelled for me in couple of hours.

          Belong is a low-cost carrier, so they cut costs wherever possible.

          Another option is to port out to another provider.

            With raising a ticket, they do not reply back even a confirmation email that it was recieved.

            I was waiting for my sim for more than a week without any reply from them and the sim was delivery after 1.5 weeks.
            thats the time i get na email asing if i recieved the sim.

      I was able ot use my old belong sim which I order in 2018 as the sim delivery hasnt arrive for 1.5 weeks.

      They call me up eventualy as I sent them several request that they are not able to respond on email or havent heard anything from them and they active using the old sim over te phone. They knew it was ordered long time ago. so, I think the sim is link to your account when you order.

      I also notice when the new sim arrive, it automatically detect the referer when i was tring to activat therefore I could say the sim is link to the accounts and know who was the referrer when it was requested.

    lmao screw this..Figured out to get $20 credit u need to pay today ..I just to call them asking how easy it is to cancel and there is no support staff answering the phone….not worth the stress in my opinion..

  • WARNING- I ended up getting charged the monthly amount even though when I activated it stated there was a credit applied! After days of the website not working properly, I managed to see a message that said Introduce a Friend- Failed!

      On a side note, what may have happened is that the referral that you used may have ported out on that day you activated making your referral invalid, so may have been just a case of bad luck

      • Genuinely thought this was a great deal until this happened.

        You may be right, but it could also be incompetence and/or intentional deceit on their end to keep people with them for longer.

        Opened a support request and have been going back and forth. They say credit is on there, I say my card has been charged, they manually change the system so $10 of credit is remaining, assure me it will be applied next round and tell me I was charged before the credit was applied,I tell them I have now been charged and used $10 of credit… To be continued I guess..

        Again it would have been a great deal if it had worked smoothly. Would be worth people checking their invoices to make sure they're not in the same boat as me.

  • thoroughly unimpressed by this. takes my credit card details then the stupid app never completes just gets hung been 30mins when supposedly setting everything up. rubbish.

  • Having the same issue of failed introduce a friend and now belong is asking me for a name, mobile number, and promo code so they can apply the referral manually. If someone wants a $20 credit could you pm me with your details?

    You must be over 18 to be a Belong mobile customer.

    Belong is prepaid no?

    • No, it's more like a month-to-month contract with no exit fee.

      The month will be charged upfront until you port out or put in a request to disconnect your service.

  • Got my SIM some time ago and now I was about to activate … then reading all the posts here … it seems it is not worth the risk of cancellation issues?

  • i'm not recommended belong and think really hard, they are postpaid and payments are confusing, few post back talked about porting out and get charge which concern me most..most importantly no support.

    For love of god please delete belongs sims on prepaid section.. they are postpaid and not recommended and stay out of it.

  • as ozbargain always port out and in but for belong abit confusing..need to call belong? can anyone explain or give more details about cancel or porting out? tried to ask about this and didn't get the answer. 28th is new payment date or rollover date, thought of 2 weeks before that date to port out…in case they being an ass take more than 1 week…i heard need to port out 1 month before that or get charge.

  • I am one of those who have ordered a sim with a referral code but am hesitant to activate it. Would love a detailed explanation on how this all works and how to get the most benefit out of this deal. Anyone care to help?

    • Make sure you take screenshots throughout the activation. It will show $20 applied right until activation

        Is the following correct?

        • Don't activate on 4th, 12th, 20th, 28th of month. This will enable you to get double data within 8 days.
        1. Order sim with referral.
        2. Activate on 21st May on 1GB plan. Use paypal as payment authorisation method.
        3. Your account will be credited with $20 referral credit but initial $10 will be taken out for first month payment. 1GB data added to your account.
        4. Ask family and friends to sign up using the referral code from your account you just signed up with.
        5. On 28th May (your usual billing date), 1GB data added to your account but no payment required.
        6. Ask family and friends to activate the sims on 1GB plans (not on any of the dates I mentioned above). $10 taken from their referral credit. Your account will get $20 credit to be used for the ongoing monthly 1GB plan (which should last 20 extra months with 10 referrals).
        7. On 12th June, 1GB added to your account and $10 taken from your account credit as payment for the next month.
        8. Ask family and friends to gift any unused data (up to 3GB) for next 2 and a bit months to your account.
        9. You should then have plenty of data and credit to last nearly 2 years.
        10. Remove paypal payment method sometime after initial activation.

        Am I missing something?

          Am in the midst of trying to do this now, and both my referrer and referee accounts have been locked out for about 24 hrs.

          I'm starting to worry Belong have decided to start cracking down on this stuff.

        The sim arrives and its now asking for $10 if I want to activate the sim…

        I already used 46868 (easternculture referral).

        So looks like I have to pay $10 to get the credit…

      • Yeah this is really strange. I tried sending them a support request and they came back to say they don’t block any text messages and suggested it could be a problem with security settings on the phone or app I was trying to activate via text message

          i had this problem with vodafone years ago

          it caused a lot of arguments between my girlfriend and I haha

          I literally closed the account after they couldnt figure it out

              Vodafone kept asking for the numbers of the people that texted me that went missing but dont think anything ever came of it

  • I signed up with a credit card and it worked and i had the referral code in there and it said i was getting the $20 credit plus the 40$ pack i used. But after signing up and going into the payment summary , my remaining credit doesnt have the referral credit in there??

  • Received the Belong SIM using promo code from this deal. Proceed to activate SIM and on the final Confirm and Connect page, it says $10 will be charged today. No mention of the referral credit. What am I missing here?
    OP mentioned that this could be due to the referral code I used may not be valid anymore e.g. number was ported out or cancelled. How can I get a new valid referral code for this activation?

  • I ordered and obtained my Belong SIM back in July but decided not to activate it at the time.
    Is it too late to activate it now? Do they have a 'use by' date?

    • So that explains the click on my referral that never translated into a credit! In answer to your question you should be able to still activate it. I am not aware of a use-by date.

        I have no idea what code I put in.

        • It is only when you go to activate the sim that you can tell who referred you.
