  • So tempted to buy one.

    • Do it, I have an X34 and it's one of the best upgrades to both a gaming experience and productivity that I've ever done.

Just be aware you need a beefy card to run modern games at a good FPS.

      • +1

Yeah it will most likely be a 2080 Ti. Still yet to build the PC itself which is what was holding me back.

      • Any chance you had an 27" before and if so was it hard to adjust from 27" to 34" in terms of gaming or so.

        • +1

I have both a 27" and a 34". The 34" is excellent for single player or graphics driven games (Witcher 3, Civilisation series, even Battlefield) however for competitive games like CS:GO I definitely prefer the 27". If you are a competitive gamer where FPS counts then don't buy this.

However if you enjoy content consumption such as movies and the aforementioned games, as well as some productivity, then this monitor is an absolute upgrade from a 27". Absolutely worth the price for the experience it provides.

          • @yoshi864: Play Tekken 7 online, would the FPS make a big difference there?

            • @parallelparadox: Hmmm, I haven't played that game so I'm not sure what the experience is, but I was more referring to shooters I guess. The wide FOV for something like counter strike doesn't really help, but for a fighter game it should be OK. Honestly fighting games are pretty simple to render (single scene with not too many objects) so I don't think you'll run into issues at 3440x1440.

              • @yoshi864: Yeah that is what I thought as well. Was a COD fan back in the MW days upto MW2 but now COD is garbage so don't play much FPS. Battlefield 1 was good but then just never went back to shooters.

    • It's just a shame the quality control is reported to be so poor. If it got to $799, maybe.

  • So how much would the FreeSync equivalent cost, half price?

    • Probably 20% cheaper. I got an asus 34 inch monitor for $800 + $100 eftpos card.

    • Alas no, with screens like this viewing angles and colour shifting become more important so need either a very good VA panel or IPS. Either way, not cheap if you want high hz to go with it best i can tell. I'm still on the fence what to get.

Damn tempting, but would rather wait for HDR before I upgrade

    • How big will be difference in terms of performance and picture quality and price? I am also interested.

      • Picture quality, night and day on HDR supported titles. Prices are well and truly up there, for 4K HDR 144hz it is like 2-3k from memory. I have the XB271HU so no point upgrading unless it is a big step up.
THere is the X27 bmiphzx that I am aware of, 2k USD on ACER site.

          4K HDR 144hz

There's no such thing as 4K HDR 144Hz currently. The most the DP connector will allow is 98Hz when using 4K HDR.

Also HDR on Windows is a godawful mess ATM with barely any games working for all setups. I've played one game where it worked (RE2) using an LG B8 and it looks gorgeous so we can only hope that MS and or devs gets their/it's act together.

          • @Diji1: Yeah, my bad, it is a 144hz monitor with also 4k capability. It is a friday afternoon haha

    Nice for IPS

    • +1

      Is IPS

  • Looks tempting. But i am waiting to see if we get any deals on the acer xb271hu this year.

  • +1

It is tempting but I'm really hoping the LG 34GK950F-B will be available locally soon…

    • +1

I got mine overseas, its amazing!

LG claim there are no plans to sell it in Australia, but who knows.

Even the HDR looks good in the Division 2, despite it only being HDR400

      • Mind if I ask how much you had to pay + shipping? Any import duties?

        • +1

$1380.24 AUD Delivered including taxes/shipping/import duties.

It was during an LG promotion where they were cheaper for a week.

          • @samfisher5986: Wow this monitor is amazing where and how can I bring this into Australia!

            • +1

@JTiger: Bhphotovideo, eBay (LG verified sellers), amazon.

              I got mine on sale.

    • +1

Yep it is the monitor we have been waiting for, and looks like still waiting for….

  • Bought it during the last sale with similar price, absolutely no regret, amazing picture quality and build quality, speaker is really nice too unlike most other monitors out there

  • Great monitor but there is a known issue where overclocking the refresh rate will cause non-stop flickering.
Seems to happen to people after a week or two and there's no fix other than to set it back to 100.
Just a word of warning for anyone wanting to use the advertised 120Hz refresh rate overclocking.

    • +2

First I've heard of that issue with the X34P. I bought 2 of these (one for a friend) about 6 months ago and both OC'd 120hz since we got them and no flickering.

      • +1

        Hi friend.

  • Anyone know if Futu will ship this via auspost or some other courier?
