  • Any stock in NSW? I can't seem to find any

  • Looks like only available in WA

  • Nothing within 200km of Melbourne

  • hic :( pp are too quick at this.

  • page has come down!

  • Well done to everyone that got one.

I have a google daydream collecting dust at home so kinda happy this sold out.

    • -1

Yeah, because the two are definitely comparable.

    • Good thing theres a Dyson on sale rn, to help you clean up the dust.

  • -5

Just fyi, this has been as cheap as ~$200AUD before so it isn't an unprecedented bargain. It does seem to get the job done for a fraction of the price though.

    • +11

this has been as cheap as ~$200AUD before so it isn't an unprecedented bargain

Unless it's been $99 before then it totally is unprecedented.

      • -2

I more meant it isn't unprecedented if the only thing you're going from is the $800 quote from JBHIFI (which is what a lot of people frothing at the mouth are focusing on).

        • +3

I don't think you understand the meaning of the word 'unprecedented'. As kamoi, unless it has been $99, which according to you, it hasn't so it is unprecedented.

        • *meant to say $800 quote from Harvey Norman.

Okay I guess I take back the use of 'unprecedented'. It's a fantastic price. But the device is not worth anywhere close to $800 as noted in the post.

          • @OfTheOverflow: I agree it's definitely not worth $800, but I don't think the ~$200 you mentioned is right either. Pretty sure that would have been for the headset only, not the headset + controller bundle.

    • +2

I think less than half the previous lowest price is a good definition of unprecedented!

Did they perhaps mean to link to this maybe??

    • That's much better!

  • Pricing error.. local store won't honor it… actual price $299

    • Just got two of them, sucks to be near that local store of yours

      • which store did u buy from?

        • Orion Springfield at the time they had 4

          • @spriggan43: I had one on hold at Springfield… drove straight there, but apparently a customer took the last two off the shelf as they went to pick them up to put behind the desk.

            • @highground: Man that sucks, Did you get any free shit from JBHIFI for wasting your time?

              • @spriggan43: Heya, I also have one set to be picked up from Springfield. Would you be able to send me a pic of your receipt just in case they refuse it when I pick it up?

              • @spriggan43: Nope, they just gave me your address and told me you had a spare ;-)

            • @highground: did you hold via phone or placed a paid order via the site?

              • +1

@Garbotoxin: Via phone. Managed to pay for another unit at Oxley, and drove over to pick it up.

Note to self - demand they take your phone number next time….

So far pretty happy with it.

    • Weird I, ordered one online, went instore to pick up all good. Saw another on the floor behind the counter and asked if could buy that too. Nice sales attendant said let me check, and yep no problem $99. Before anyone asks it's already earmarked for someone else.

  • +1

Damn, really wanted one of these.

  • Missed it
    :-(

  • Picked up one in store even though it said it wasn't available on the site. Definitely check with your local store or give them a call

  • My store said an email had been sent through about the price error and its not available for that price… good luck to everyone else

  • -1

    Mass order cancellations incoming.

    Page is 404'ed now.

  • +2

Well, I bought one, but I don't think I'll even have time to play VR games now that Ozbargain takes up all of my time everytime I sit at my desktop.

Maybe I can moderate Ozbargain in VR?

  • Top Ryde have 3 left in stock. Just picked up one. You'll need to call up.

  • -1

Well jb saying its price error. Its available in few stores but at $299

  • Got one in store, thx

  • Nice, just got two

  • +1

    Got one in store, thanks!

Ya all from Coffs Harbour should call up to check availability as the website said none available, but the I called the store and they had em. Picked one up. Cheers

  • If anyone has an extra i would gladly like to grab one.

  • +1

Wow should have…. Check ozbargain more frequent.

  • what stores in VIC had these available?

    • Not many. I checked like 5 mins after this was posted and there were 0 in Melbourne, nearest 200kms away.

  • For those that manage to get one…what are the must things to do/games to play on this? Always wondered and yes, I know some people use these to watch adult content.

    • Start with Superhot VR and Beat Saber. Also good for racing / flight sims.

  • called JB and said its $ 599

  • +2

Had called up my local store and got 'em to hold one. Got there and they told me it was an error and won't do it.
I was like wtf… I came all this way after confirming price on phone blah blah blah… long story short they ended up honouring it. Gl to everyone else.

    • What store was this?

      • Werribee

        • At least your local is decent, mine refused outright.

          • @renchamp: Did you ring up before hand and confirm price and then get them to hold it?

If not, maybe they got more grounds to deny… I still had to argue a bit and they were like… "I can do it for the staff price" and so I'm like "what's that?" so he goes off to check and comes back with 1 later and says he will do the 1 for 99

Thankfully didn't have to argue further but I wouldn't have left without it lol :P

            • @hexedhavoc: I called and and got them to hold it for me. Was really annoyed that i traveled to pick it up and they refused.

              • @renchamp: Dang :( you should have pressed harder I guess :/ Also possible you just got an unreasonable person.

  • I drove 25km to craigburn jb after work, lucky they didnt cancel my order and i picked it up straight away.

    • lol, I did the exact same trip. So much further than I remembered.

  • +1

Not being honoured in Canberra, apparently they have been told to reprice it at $299.

  • I called up and was told a memo came from head office that they've been told it's a price error and that it's supposed to be $299

  • +1

Hmm what to do, just got message saying ready to pick up. Not sure whether to ring first as about 1 hr drive.

    • +1

If you call to check up it's 0%
If you have not pre-paid for it then it's 0%

Otherwise it's around 50/50 if you insist you had to travel all the way here and they should've just send the email to say it's price error

      • All good points, do I drive the 180km round trip on a 50/50. Maybe, after all it’s a bargain.

        • Mine was only 20km so I gambled and it turned out well. But yea at 180km it's a hard one to decide. Wish you the best for whatever choice you picked. But at 180km drive, I'd have fought for some discount should they not honor $99 price tag though since you weren't even notified.

        • Let us know what you decide!

          • +1

@lachhelix: Drove down and picked it up, no dramas at all. Girl even said I got a bargain. Think I’m just going to put it on ebay as I have already have a Hololens on loan to play with.

  • +2

i had one in my hands at $99 but by the time I got to the front desk the price was raised to $599.

I was told anyone who reserved one but didn’t pay for it won’t get it for $99.

I had it in my friggin hands!!! I was literally minutes too late!

    • I feel for you. Buy yourself something new anyway to make up for it and distract you.

      • I got in quick enough for the DJI Osmo Mobile yesterday, so I have that going for me…

I put the VR headset on hold for me. The front guy was nice enough to mention that if I come back and try tomorrow again that they may be able to do it for me for $99, but wasn't able to at the time.

I'm going to go back tomorrow and hope for the best.

  • Thanks OP, i got to the penrith one and was told that it was an price error. But gave it to me anyways. RRP is $599

  • Has anyone had a delivery order cancelled? Still sitting on 'In Progress'

    • +1

Mine was shipped. Ordered like 10 minutes after the deal was posted though.

  • +1

After the two bottles of premium motor oil for $4 earlier this month, picking this up for $99 would have heralded the golden age of Ozbargain.

    • +1

I got the kindle the other day for half price from $150 so yeh I was about to say the golden age had returned of needing to refresh ozbargain 10 times a day.

    • +1

Add the Google music YouTube premium Indian deal into that

  • There was one in the JB Hifi Narre Warren on the shelf with the was $599, $99 tag on it.
Stood around for 10 minutes while staff tried to put it through but was throwing up the reason 'the SKU is blacklisted' - manager comes out and tells me it's $299 if I want it…

Do I drive the 3 hour round trip to attempt to pickup my Click and Collect order that I've paid for?

    • +1

I was actually surprised some people have managed to get their hands on these. Only a week ago, the manager was reluctant to sell me a power board that was reduced by $30.

      • +1

I reckon it's a hit or miss - if the staff want to put it through I bet they can almost certainly find some way

  • -2

Anyone who bought multiple and would like to part with one, hit me up :)

  • There are two ex demo left in Moore Park

  • Devastated, wont work. Not compatible with i7-960 or xeon X5675 cpu.

    • No USB 3.0 on your motherboards?

      • I have usb 3.0, CPU not compatible so wont install, specs say "Intel® Core™ i5 4590 (4th generation desktop), quad core or better"

        • i7 960 is significantly slower than i5 4590 so that's not really surprising

          • @brendanm: Vive, Rift and even PSVR work just fine with these older CPUs so it's not so much about speed.

Turns out WMR does positional tracking without requiring external hardware, but to do this it needs AVX. Something which wasn't introduced until Sandy Bridge.

            • @HomeAlone: Well there you go, that's quite interesting. Probably one of the things that makes wmr cheaper than the others.

    • I'll give you $20 for it.

    • Buddy, depending on where you live, I'm happy to take it off of you for 150. Assuming you're not upgrading your pc to get it to work, of course.

      • Sorry, just in the process of ordering a new system.

        • All G man. I'll do the same if i was in the same position, techfast stuff are so damn cheap.

  • Just picked one up at the frankston home store after getting them to put it aside, manager did not hesitate to put it through at $99.

    Thanks op:)

  • I'm wondering if someone got it mixed up with this…
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/lenovo/lenovo-star-wars-jedi-chall…

    • Nah they must have forgotten to add the 2 in 299

  • Got my girlfriend to race down and pick up my click and collect order, she got it but pretty sure she dealt with one of the "good" employees. They new it was a pricing error but said because the order went through we could have it. Apparently they were meant to be listed at $300 down from $600

  • +2

Had put aside 1x at Rouse Hill - unfortunately when they scanned they stated its blocked at pos :( worth a go

    • I got mine from there, click & collect order.

I asked about any other stock and they said only 2 left which were already committed to other online orders

      • When I checked it wasn't showing stock for online C&C, decided to call anyway around 3pm they confirmed 1x there left for $99. Managed to get there after work (pretty close to closing time) and they tried to put it through but stated it was blocked at POS.

The lady seemed genuine as she had already taken off the security lock off it to then scan through, then checked with the manager.

Was worth a shot but if I had of gotten there earlier may have been different, oh well :)

  • Epic find. Shame i missed. Bank balance is happy tho

  • +1

I have to say all the killer deals are actually other people's pricing mistake lol

  • So I just tested it out… what is the easiest method to load up some vr/360 videos in chrome? Does everything have to go through the mixed reality portal? seems annoying so far >__<
