          I purchased 27/03 at 9.03pm

          • @Sammyboy: Thanks, so it's very unlikely I'll be seeing a carbon coming my way. I guess they're working through all the purchases to find suitable resolutions in date/time order…

          • @Sammyboy: I purchased same day similar time. But they are only offering me V8 absolute (there is NO +)

        • Order placed on 28/3 at 3:15pm, & I've just received the 'sorry no stock' email today (slow clap for Dyson taking a week to respond).
You would have to think the V8 Absolute is going to be ~$500 every other week in the near future with the V11 launch.

          • @ottto: Agreed. Placed my order on the 27/3. Was expecting it to be marked as shipped. Got a voicemail left yesterday. Piss poor effort.
Was hopeful they might offer the V10, (seeing as the V11 has been announced) as a suitable replacement but it has to be one with the same attachments - i.e. soft roller. Might play hardball on this, I hate being messed around. Essentially they want you to take a lesser substitute for the same money because they can't track stock (or ship more, even though they manufacture the item).

            • @hellrazorone: Agreed. Got the same email from an "Aileen". I am going to play hard ball too with as it is quite frustrating. An issue like this should've be recognised earlier and not taken a week to figure out they didn't have enough stock (i placed my order on 28/03). Further, offering a V8 Absolute is a joke! There are some that have been offered the V10 Motorhead instead. This site explains the difference between the V10 Absolute+ and the V10 Motorhead, and the Motorhead is a significant downgrade from the Absolute+ given the accessories you get with it:
              https://moderncastle.com/vacuum-cleaner-reviews/dyson-v10-re…
There is also a under the article comparing the V10 to the V8, and trust me you don't want to go with a V8 if you can get a V10.

    • I had to chase up to get the updates.

First dispatch issues, then supposedly out of order. Others say they incorrectly advertised the Carbon Fibre model. (These issue/ebay feedback indicate this has happened for awhile).
They offered a V8 Absolute +. I countered saying its a downgrade power wise and I needed a soft roller as well.
Best thing they could offer was a V10 motorhead. I think I will get a refund instead.
Smaller dustbin, no soft roller and lesser attachments. V10 motorhead has older direct drive head. V10 animal/aboslute has newer torque drive.
      v8 Carbon Fibre vs V8 Absolute+ vs V10 motorhead.

I still cant decide, refund and wait for better deal. Or bite the bullet and get V8 A+(less power but includes soft roller) or V10 MH (more power but no soft roller). Cant help comparing $540 V8 CF with V8/V10 average ozbargain price, not getting enough feature per dollar.

      :(

      • +2

I only got offered the motorhead too on pushing for a v10. Don't think it's worth the sacrifice in the capacity and attachments. Tried to push for the 10 absolute but negative on that. So think I will go the refund.

        • Yeah, looking at previous v8 A+ deals, $540 is about the same price if not more. I'm still hardballing on the V10 otherwise I'll be getting a refund too..

          • @teeskiies: Have you only done it via the eBay messaging or called them too?

            • @Sammyboy: Mainly Ebay message so far.

              • @teeskiies: any luck? I haven't had any further replies. I asked if they can just keep holding my order until stock comes in

                • @Sammyboy: No Luck, I did the same thing. Might consider just getting a V10 and buy soft roller seperately later on. I don't know anymore lol..

                  • @teeskiies: Fyi, soft roller heads cost approx $200. Cheaper to buy an absolute outright.

                  • @teeskiies: just got this email from them

                    Thank you for your reply.
We will not be receiving anymore stock of this model into Australia and would not be able to leave your order on back order.
The three machines we can offer as a replacement are the V8 Absolute, The V8 Absolute Plus or The V10 Motorhead.
If none of the three options are available we would need to cancel your order for a full refund.
Keeping in mind you do have a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee to try the item you choose in home and if not suitable can return this item for a full refund within the first 30 Days.

Think Ill be going the refund then. Wait for the absolute to go on sale

                    • @Sammyboy: whats the difference between the motorhead v10 vs other v10 models

                      • @oreoboston: Small bin capacity and less accessories and the cleaner head is direct drive vs Torque drive on the other models

                    • +1

@Sammyboy: I might just roll with the Absolute plus. I havent really heard much people complaining 115aW for general use (in my case).

Previous V8 Absolute sales are around average $540-$600.
                      V8 Absolute plus average $620-$699.

So I think the V8 A+ offer for $540 is pretty decent already (assuming carbon fibre will never be offered in australia again as specified in email).

I'm just weighing options if V10 is significantly better. seems like previous V10 Motorhead deals were around $540 on average also.

Also might utilise that 30 Day Money Back Guarantee too.

                      • @teeskiies: Did you go the v8 absolute plus in the end? I’m still undecided…

                        • +1

@shills: If you do id be asking for one of the recent redemption packs with the additional accessories and dock

                          • @BillyStm: Hey, I havent got a reply throughout the whole day. So I'm still pending, But I think I will.

What's included in the redemption pack (additional accessories, tried googling but didnt find anything just incase)
I thought the V8 Absolute plus was the highest tier and included all accessories available, so interested to see whats "additional"

Thanks for bringing that up, will ask once they reply :)

    • I purchased on the 29th of March and after I was supposed to receive it, was told they made an error and I could either have a refund or a downgrade.
I informed them this was bait advertisement (Illegal, will be making a complaint to the ACCC, I suggest you all do)

      I was offered,
      - V8 Absolute
      - V8 Absolute +
      - V10 Motorhead

These are all worse, even if they have similar RRP, and I pushed for an upgrade (V10 absolute) because the error was theirs. Eventually accepted a V8 absolute +.

After I was supposed to receive it, I get another message saying they're out and offering worse ones again, AGAIN. I am livid. I've lost all faith in dyson customer service.

      • So in other words they just didn't want to sell anything at that discounted price expect for the cheaper crappier model.

  • whoops. wrong thread

  • +1

Mods, what a joke. This deal deserves a neg. Yet can't. They couldn't fill the order.

  • Oh damn. Was I the only one that actually got the V8 Carbon Fibre? Mine arrived yesterday!

    • +1

      booo! i'm jealous :(

      • when did you order yours?

        • According to Ebay, 6:05pm on the 27th (the day this deal was posted).

        • 8.03pm :(

          • +1

@Jonski: Email was 8:30PM here and i'm in the sold out pile :(

really not happy about this one.

    • i got the v8 carbon fibre but mine was dead on arrival. the are sending me spare parts in hope to fix it.

customer service was pretty good, but really shouldn't have to know that on a brand new appliance.

    • Mine arrived with no issue. I didn't realise the big mess this ended up being or I would have reported back sooner.

  • +1

got the same email as above. trying to offer me an v8 adsolute but i'm trying for the v10 motorhead.
they have now offerd the v8 absolute plus.but i got the carbon for the extra sucking power.should i settle for the plus or push for the motorhead v10?

    • +1

The Motorhead V10 is cheaper than what you've paid in this instance it's not worth it IMHO, I think if anything and you're ok with the difference in power drop for the V8, the best would be the V8 Absolute+ otherwise cancel?

    • Those are all cheaper downgrades. Bait advertising too.

  • +2

I also got the same email as above. Will try for the V8 Absolute+. Realistically is there much difference between the v8 Absolute+ and v8 carbon fibre in terms of suction? Is the difference only apparent when they are set to 'max mode'? Cheers! This will help me with my decision.

EDIT: Apparently the battery technology is also different. Maybe I will get a refund and wait for the next sale.

    • Makes me wonder if they will ever do a Carbon Fibre Sale again in the future…

  • Just got the inevitable email, congrats to those fortunate enough to have their orders fulfilled.

  • V10 Motorhead or refund?

    • whats the difference between the motorhead vs other v10 models

      • Fairly certain it's just a lack of accessories. You just get the 1 main head and 1/2 other small tools.

    • +2

Refund. No brainer. The Carbon Fibre has all accessories. It is more powerful and has a longer lasting battery than the V10. Only the new V11 would be an upgrade.

  • How long do Dyson take to reply to eBay messages? I've had to trigger the conversation because I didn't trust a missed phone call and half written text message for me to call them. So far I've had the stock standard eBay reply - stock issue, with a V8 absolute or refund option offered. Makes you wonder if they've had staff cut backs. The barrel I got a while back was flawless (in terms of ordering and delivery), same with the redemption of our original V6 accessory pack. I suppose they can be complacent with very little competition in the space. Hopefully Xiaomi will shake them up a bit.

    • It would appear to directly be based on what information you send to them in your message, I had two quick responses this morning and refund is now being actioned.

They advised the Carbon would no longer be produced or sold in Australia.

      • All good. Seems like eBay doesn't notify you by email of a response. Opted for the V8 Absolute Plus (after they only initially offered the Absolute). Let's hope it ships tomorrow. Already taken two weeks to get to this point. Hopefully they send via StarTrack (I can't remember what carrier they use) to have any chance of it arriving this week.

        • AU AUST POST TRACKED it seems

          • @Kingofdealz: Thanks … looks like it'll be next week regardless*. Only just got the "we've processed this change and you'll be notified upon shipment" response on eBay but nothing in my email.

I'll probably regret saying this next week, considering it's Australia Post and a parcel to Perth (3 days to register, 3-5 days to Perth, 3 days sitting in Perth before delivery).

        • I eventually accepted this downgrade as well, then they bait advertised again by saying they were out of absolute plus stock.

  • For those that still haven't decided on whether to go for the alternative offer from Dyson or get a refund, this might help you make that decision:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/450169
Found this deal yesterday and Dyson price matched, so just went with the refund from eBay.

    • +1

But that's a corded vacuum unless I'm missing something. Different item altogether.

  • +3

Dyson support need to be checked as to whether brain cells exist …
Two weeks no contact after placing an order when they knew they didn't have stock.
So I contact them to find out they sold something they didn't have based on comments here (Got the "bug in inventory mgmt" response)

Offered V8 absolute, asked for V8 absolute plus to match the accessories on the original (even though its weaker).
They agreed and mentioned it would be shipped. So I've been awaiting a tracking number.

Another 3/4 days later now they are telling me they have no stock of the V8 and I either accept a V10 motorhead or a refund.
FFS Dyson get your act together. Absolute(ly) useless customer service.

    • +2

Just got the same reply even though they stated it would be shipped days ago. Ridiculous!!

      • +2

Not sure how the manufacturer of an item has no idea on any stock levels of any product.

Here's how they could fix it (if they weren't such a bag of d!cks) …
Call our local store (GG or Harvey's) credit them a vacuum and have us collect it.
        Problem solved.

But then again that would require them to be able to credit a store a vacuum and when they can't even count themselves, it might be a stretch.

        • +1

I'm in the same boat here now - they have just advised that they are "unable to provide" the replacement absolute plus after already sending me a shipping confirmation.
I've already explained to them that I need a soft roller. What a useless bunch of knobs.

          • +1

@mobbarley: The only comparable item is the V10 absolute plus. If they (profanity) up, they should accept the difference and keep customers happy.

    • +2
  • Hi all:

Same thing happened to me, got offered V8 absolute, reject it. Got offered V8 absolute+, accepted but later was told not in stock again got offered v10 motherhead. I got angry and told them I need soft roller accessary and I have reported to ACCC.

So now I got the v10 motherhead being sent to me, and the soft roller head in back order with an order number as they don't have the accessory in stock.

    Hope it helps

    • Still wondering how they manage to have such little stock of everything.
Their primary business is selling cordless vacuums and their accessories.
Yet they seem to fail to have any stock of anything but the V10 Motorhead and also have none of the accessories.

They could have surely put the V8 Absolute Plus on back-order (or as suggested asked a retailer to fill the order and credited them stock when it arrives)
The V8 is still being sold as far as I know (it was only the special carbon fibre model that they mentioned wouldn't be coming into Australia anymore … because Australia is the best dumping ground for overpriced inferior models). Why the carbon fibre model didn't replace the V8 makes little sense.

      • Was finally today offered the V10 Motorhead including the Soft Roller Cleaner head and the V10 Dock. Have accepted this offer. Lets hope its not another "out of stock" email to follow. Have requested that I receive a tracking number tomorrow (after the last string-along) and that the vacuum and accessories are sent via StarTrack so I at least stand a chance of getting it this week (two weeks after I was supposed to receive it). Fingers crossed they don't mess this one up. Would have been nice for them to offer the V10 Absolute (I doubt these costs more than a few hundred to manufacture) as an apology for stuffing up, but they seem intent on moving old stock as part of their offerings.

        • How did you manage to get Soft Roller head and V10 dock?

          • @samyoung: The original came with all accessories (V8 Carbon Fibre)

This V10 Motorhead is still a downgrade as far as I'm aware (older model, less capacity), although hopefully similar power.
Without the roller its useless to me, it'll be used on hard floors and carpet. If you have hard floors the roller is great, the bristles on the carpet attachment tend to throw things backwards, whereas the roller picks them up.
The originally purchased item came with all of this stuff, so it isn't a bonus its essentially the same as they originally sold but they didn't have stock. Same as the replacement of a V8 absolute plus (would come with these accessories).

They will always (it seems) make a low-ball offer first. i.e. they first offered the V8, not the V8 absolute plus (as the first replacement).
This time they offered the V10, I told them no (and explained how frustrated I was about being told two items were not stocked, and that it wasn't an adequate/comparable replacement), then they came back with a V10 with accessories.

Still waiting on a response today. Pretty poor service still. One would think they'd want this problem to disappear and for customers to be "somewhat" happy that they have a resolution. I remain skeptical until I get an actual tracking number.

      • +1

regular V8 not being sold anymore, it's weird that the Carbon Fibre model was sold on eBay at all.

V10 replaced V8 and they took it off the market, because it's almost as good as the V10.

The Carbon Fibre was specced higher.

V7 replaced V8 in the lower price bracket.

Now there's the V11 which finally has that fabled inbetween power setting.

It's shitty that you got the run around on this - not only did you miss out on the better V8, but the replacements they lined up for you fell through too!

Hope you get the V10 you want from them

        • Thanks Droz. Posted my updates in hope that everyone doesn't accept Dyson's first offer. Also to ensure that everyone are aware of Dyson Australia's tactics. Was in the middle of writing to the ACCC last night and decided to check my messages (eBay doesn't notify you of updates via email, which is pretty useless). Hopefully a response tomorrow, nothing today - no chance of it arriving this week (if at all) and we'll be into Week 4 next week. Seems they are pushing the V11 (30 mins run time on the V7 vs. 40 mins on the V8/V10 vs. 60 mins on the V11). I'm still half expecting a refund, because they really couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.

  • Any further updates from anyone here? I've also been going back and forward with them, and they've now offered V10 Motorhead with soft roller head and dock like you.

I've now asked if they'll throw in the 3-piece car kit as well, then I'd accept as I really wanted to use the vac for car and upholstery cleaning too

Now I see a new V10 Animal deal at $666 currently up at Amazon.com, I'm considering requesting a refund and buying that instead, although that lacks the soft roller and dock. The only positives are bigger bin and mini motor brush I think…???

    • I just accepted their offer of V10 Motorhead, Soft roller head, and V10 Floor Dok. They knocked back the 3-piece car kit which was a stretch but worth asking.

I figured that the convenience of the Dok & inclusion of soft roller head outweighed the extra size of Animal's bin, included accessories (and ~$100 price increase). Also, the current Animal deal comes with US plug so you'd need to buy an adaptor or $35 AU one from Dyson (plus the added cost of buying a Soft roller head, which doesn't come with the Animal).

Still a shame about the V8 Carbon Fibre as it would have been the best, but for the price it seems like a good compromise… now I've typed that, we'll probably see a V10 Absolute+ deal for $600 here next week.

      • Looks as though you've used up their one response per day (in total) to eBay support queries.
So far I've got an Order ID for the dock and the roller head and no tracking number on those.
No order for the actual vacuum and therefore no tracking number on it.

Lets hope I don't end up with the V10 accessories and no V10 vacuum.
Would be nice if they could prioritize this … just saying a two day (or more) turnaround is a bit sh!t.

        • It's been a couple of days since I checked in here but I had negotiated the same deal as you - I asked for the V10 Motorhead with a soft roller and they threw in the dock + accessories.. Just got a tracking no for the accessories but no Vac yet..

Im pretty happy with that deal, i don't see it being a downgrade as the power a dust bin should be the same as the V8CF. I think in the end it is probably the good deal I was hunting in the beginning.

          • +1

@mobbarley: It's not a bad compromise, and I'm happy with it. Certainly glad I knocked back the initial substitutes.

It still lacks the mini motorised head and Flexi creivce tool of the V8CF kit, but the dock should be handy in my situation. Also on paper V8CF should have had slightly better suction 155AW vs 150AW, but only V11 can beat that

It seems funny they didn't just substitute it with the V10 Absolute+ in the end, since it's pretty close to what they finally offered. It would have saved them weeks of time and effort answering our emails!
