      That's true

Bought 200, guess that’s why there is no stock now
(What day is it today ?)

      • Monday?

  • +3

    Awesome price

  • +4

I have the Note 8.Just been updated to Android Pie.Still fast and smooth as ever.Only bugbear is the battery life.Just not enough for such a powerful phone.

    • Can it hold a normal business day for office staff?

      • +1

I just bring a charger to work… At the minimum a usb cable in my pc. Depends if you game in my experience btw… Just general browsing is ok.

        • how long does it last,

          when you do

          -gaming
          -general web browsing

          • @pinkybrain: It's too hard to answer. Realistically I charge it during the day, you'll need to if you play any games.

General usage it'll last comfortably through till getting home.

            • @scuderiarmani: the need to recharge it during the day does not sound all that great.

If you are at 100% in the morning then leave for work etc
and need to charge it again during work hours, that is not such a good thing.

              • @pinkybrain: It's normal if you use it a lot, every phone will need it

              • +1

@pinkybrain: It out-performs iPhone and most other Android phones in battery life from its release year, it's probably just because the guy's phone is old now and Li-Ion battery life deteriorates every charge cycle. The battery life is pretty good.
Source: my brother has Note 8.

              • @pinkybrain: My Note8 will be at 100% at midnight and when I wake up and check it at 6.30am it's at 72%. Battery on a Note is what kills the phone other than that I live it.

          • @pinkybrain: Fully Charged at 6, Playing Pokemon Go and FiFa, it will be down back to 20% around 11pm. (the phone is used 1.5yrs since day 1)

      • No way in hell. I've got mine on charge at least 3 times a day!

        • you need to reset mate, no phone need to recharge 3 time even my iPhone 4 using now

          • @Sonca: Look I'm constantly reseting my phone and i have a ritual with daily device maintenance at least twice per day. But still my batt is the same but iam on my phone like majority of the day so i can't really complain I guess.

    • +2

Bloke, I've had mine since its release and it still gets me through the whole day even after using FB and watching cat videos when I'm meant to be working.

      • Wow you must be one of the lucky ones cause I'd be lucky to get it to last till lunch.

    • I so regret updating it to the pie worst update ever! One of Samsung employers were saying that their having so many complaints about the new update to pie but they can't do anything because it has nothing to do with Samsung.

  • +2

    Awesome phone. Still love mine

  • +1

Didn't know target sells this !

  • I hope this isn't a pricing error. I sent it to one of my sisters, haha

  • Combine with dicounted gift card to make price below $600

    Sold out!

    • WTH. It's like right when I click on PAY done, come back to here and sold out.
      Got 1 for myself

      • +1

You must have got the last one… :o

  • +1

    Yikes that was quick

  • +1

Thought about it but it's just too big! That and the battery is meant to be mediocre.

    • -1

      Yep… it's not a great phone.
But it's a great phone at that price!
      .
Was going to get one for the wife - massive phones are fine with handbags.

    • Big for S.Jobs, but much smaller than iphone Plus(es)

  • -8

    Exynos9😕
    forget about it.
Samsung chips sucks. Even worse than huawei😢

    • +2

It's better than the latest iphones in functionality. Exynos is faster than Qualcomm.
Had Note1, 2, 4 & 8. I only wish the battery was replaceable like Note4 (still running), & round screen is only good for show off to iCult users. Even my Note2 that I sold is still working (checked today).
      Best business phone without competition.

    • -1

What u mean even worse than huawei??? Lol

      • -1

Just saying, samsung and huawei both got their own chips and samsung still using some sd8series whch is much better than ot own chips in any ways.
And huawei's high end stuff only use their own chips. They are confident about their chips.
As i said earlier, samsung chips sucks. I dont mean they arent good at all. But compare to the other chips like sd855 a12 OR kirin980? Still a bit behind.
But like taki said, they are better than the lastest iphone in functionality, but if u have 2 choices for the chip of the note8 between sd835 and exynos8 series. Which one would u choose?

    • No issues with mine at all 18 months on… Nothing I do even remotely slows it down and I mainly Use it on games… That price is absolutely brilliant for this phone.

    Lesson learnt!

    Hesitate you lose!

    • +2

      Amateur!

    • +11

Snooze you lose, rush you burn. You never win on Ozbargain

      • +2

Haha, yep, been caught at both ends in a good way and a bad way.

  • +4

One of the best things that most people don’t realise about these is that they have a Cat 16 LTE modem in them. Blistering fast speeds of up to 1GBit/s if you’re looking to use 4G internet at home.

    • won't cost alot for the mobile data?

      • +3

What sort of dumb question is that?

      • +1

Mobile data isn’t really that expensive anymore. I’ve just moved and have been living off prepaid sims that are on sale. Adequate data for us and we’re only spending max $30 a month. Once the sim has been used. Throw it out and repeat with another sim. I’m ok with the 5mins for setup for new sim activation a month.
That being said, one of the Note 8 would burn through that data! 😂

    • +2

I'm on a 200GB Optus plan on my Tab S4 which has Cat 16 LTE and tethering to my devices at home. I get around 230/50 mbps most times except for a couple of hours in the evening when it drops to ~70/30. Still blistering fast compared to my ADSL that was more expensive! And I'm sure the HCF NBN speed/price cannot match when it is finally available in my area.

      • Sooooooo fast! AD…what and NB who?

    • +2

I'm glad someone else on here has taken note and mentioned the CAT version of a phone/tablet, as I thought I was one of a few who recognises that spec as important for performance ( like many others, mobile data is my only internet home and away ).

To fully be able to take advantage of CAT 10 LTE or higher you would have to be using device in a reasonable to good/great reception area as otherwise it does not make a big difference where I live ( semi-regional with hills ).

The Samsung GS8 is also CAT 16 LTE, the SG9 is CAT 18 LTE and the new SG10 a whopping CAT 20 LTE wooooosh.

    • 1GBit
      Australia

      HA

      • Telstra network, with Netgear Nighthawk LTE modems can often slightly exceed it.

  • +10

If only I had ozbargain premium ultra membership!

  • +2

A phone that hot can't last long!

I'm actually really glad I wasn't on Ozbargain at that time - even though I have absolutely no reason to get it I wouldn't have been able to resist.

  • -1

If only it had battery life :(

  • spec wise which is better this or iphone xr?

    • -1

in term of raw performance and camera performance iphone xr is better.

But this offers S pen, expandable memory, much better screen (higher contrast ratio, more accurate color, higher resolution) and now lower price.

It all depends on what you values more.

I'm using the Note 8 btw. Bought in Nov 2017 on JB hifi Black Friday with office works price beat @ $949.

      • thanks, decided to get this instead of xr. at half price of the xr, i think this is good value.

        • -1

Not in the same price category, shouldn't be bothered to compare with Iphone XR

  • A12 vs Exynos8….

    • -1

Unnoticeable performance unless you edit videos (silly).
Noticeable ROI advantage on Exynos & unmatched functionality in the package. Note8 is Clear WINNER.

  • Has anyone attempted to 'raincheck' this product for this price at their local store? Just a suggestion…

    • +1

It clearly says "online only". Stores won't raincheck that.

  • at one stage the website said still available and only said sold out once you added to cart,
I guess if you got luck you could have gotten Officeworks to pricematch/beat

  • +2

I am 5 hours late to party 😂

  • Funny to note, last time Looked at this (last night ) it had 88 +ive votes even though it had expired no more stock. It's grown to 128 now… WTFudge!

  • did anyone actually get this? i just saw it's available again and after i filled my credit card details and click buy, it was out of stock. i think they dont have any in stock and it's just a software glitch.

  • I got one 10 minutes ago

    • I just spoke with Target and they said they have to ship it from NSW

    • As in you ordered one or recieved one?

      • I have paid for it and the delivery ETA is 3-6 days

  • I've seen used Note 8's for 550-600 online. This is a crazy deal

  • bummer, virtually set my store to about 20 different stores in different states hoping there was one store that had one, no luck!

now that I missed out on it, I want one!

    • i got denied 3 times after filling my credit card, getting the "stock has changed" all the time. im beginning to think this sale is scam to generate traffic.

  • If anyone regretted getting this or dont need it no more, i'll be happy to take it off ur hands. send me a pm. thanks.

  • +1

    I use a Note 8 and Note 9 daily.
Only difference in my daily is slow Mo camera on Note 9.
    They are the same phone.

    • +1

      Note 9 has better battery,better processor,more spen capabilities,better camera.Hardly the same phone.

I would prefer to pay $950 for Note 9.

Source:i have Note 8 and bought Note 9 recently for my father for $950 from QD_Au.

  • I use them all day every day for exactly the same reason. Lots of online trading and dual screen and occasional photo and video. Regardless what a tech screen says. It's the same phone.
Only true advantage is the dual SIM note 9. But as I have international note 8. Same same..
    Not worth the upgrade price.

    Battery time is a myth.
Right now. Note 9 is 31%, Note 8 is 43%. Both off the charge at 8am.
