  • Is the carpet head for the Dreame out yet?

    • It can't clean carpets??

      • I had posted a question about this in the previous post, and got the response as below:

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/445004#comment-7095592

Carpet special head will ready later May.

          • @Gearbite: Comment deleted. I tagged the wrong person.

          • @Gearbite: Do you have any approximate pricing on the carpet head?

      • You can try using the bug head that comes with it. It has a more traditional spiral cleaning head on it. Its small in width though. It may do a better job than the soft hardfloor head.

In saying that, the regular soft hardfloor head does a decent enough job on carpets, but doesnt compare to my corded miele c3 cat and dog vac with powerful motorised head.

        • +1

I've used the regular head on carpet with max power and it does a pretty good job

          • @Xc01567: Yeh I would agree with that. My review is based on medium power, as max power only lasts a very short time.

  • +4

Is there any 2nd gen robot vacuum deal??

    • @Gearbite I would like to see this too

  • I can’t believe there is a gen 3 robo vac now!?

  • +3

I've had mine for nearly a month now and use it every second day on carpet. It's great! Worth the purchase and I'm saying that after coming from a Dyson V7 animal.

    • Is your review for the Dreame? Do we need to replace filters/parts for this vac? And do you know if they are relatively cheap to get?
I have the Xiaomi Mi 1st gen Robo vacuum since more than a year now and been very happy with it. I am also considering buying the Dreame hence asking about opinions on parts.
I can easily get cheap replacements for the Robo vac so hoping it's the same for this one too.

      • Actually filter is washable, you do not need to change regularly.

        • Good to know. So unless something breaks, I don't really need to buy any parts for this vac. Am I right in assuming that?

      • +1

Apologies, yes, it is for the Dreame.

    • What kind of Carpet? I have a pretty thick one in the bedrooms and I'm worried that without the appropriate head it might not do the job properly….
      (no pun intended)

      • Not very thick however I have 2 dogs that shed a lot. It does the job fine, mind you it picks up everything on the pull back on medium power.

        • And you're using the standard soft cloth roller head?

  • What is th difference between 1st gen and second in terms of vacuum and navigation please?

    • Navigation not much different. Second generation have Mopping function.

      • Thanks, the vaccum is the same? And are they good with going over a threshold from hard floor to carpet about 1.5 cm?

        • 1st Generation can claim 1.5cm, 2nd Generation can climb 2cm.

          • @Gearbite: It s 2 cm but not an obstacle as such, an inclined threshold floor bar. Can I get 1st gen?

    • I think suction power is also different.

  • 1st Generation can claim 1.5cm, 2nd Generation can climb 2cm.

    • -3

Thanks, does it come with satisfaction guarantee ie can I return if it does not work properly on my carpets?

      • +1

        no

  • Are these any good if you have a dog who leave pet hair everywhere. 70pct floor boards and the rest is carpet?

    • +1

Interested to know this also. Have just ordered and will be testing this on tiles.

  • Thanks, wanted to buy one last week but it was $363 so I was waiting for a special. $299 is great.

  • Please note, the Dreame now is supplied with an AU Plug, it previously was supplied with a CN plug.

For those that have already bought the Dreame, can we purchase the AU plug separately?

  • The code PLOT10 does not work on the robot listing linked above!

    • Tested and still worked.

  • Not for me 🙁. Gutted. I tried both on the app and website.

    • +1

Hey there Coraliem, it seems to be working on my end so you might have to contact eBay live chat to get them to fix your account so you can use the code :)

      • Ok will try that

      • Thanks ii worked

  • Thanks . The I’ve been planning to get a dreame , getting one now

And specials on the roborock S50 - 2nd edition ?

  • How many minutes vacuuming will the battery give us per charge?

    EDIT: 60 minutes continuous.

  • What's the returns terms, can one return if used within 30 days?

  • hey op, how much for the carpet head when avail? or today buyers will receive them for free if requested? thx

  • Thanks OP, bought the Mi Robot.

  • Bought one. We have a dc54 that's pretty violent and noisy but has amazing suck, the wife just doesn't like having to drag it around.

Bought the aldi upright vac for $99 which is very average at best, that's going back and hopefully this will be the worthy replacement.

The dc54 only comes out for heavy duty work (rugs, couch, bed, sometimes the car) which is rare as we're now in a full floor board house. 🤷‍♂️ Considered selling it but we'll wait until this turns up. The motor head on the dc54 is worth it just for that attachment alone so that will be where our comparison is drawn.

    • As stated for my previous use analysis, pleasantly surprised with the decision to buy one of these.

Outshone the aldi free-standing vac ($99) hands down. Haven't had any other stick vacuums but know other people that have the v6 and the previous model to it (can't remember the number) and I personally feel like this put them to shame no worries.

We're 100% hardwood floors and tiled bathroom and laundry and even on turbo, once every couple of days I can zip around with this vac with plenty in reserve. I do believe that is how these should be used, spot cleaning and regular 5-10min cleans to stay on top of any dust. Definitely saving you a half day of vacuuming and dusting.

Overall, very happy with it. The prices of these things are pretty hard to stomach but if they last and hold up doing the job they do from day one, they're well worth the investment. Very well thought out attachments, battery indicators on both sides and light enough trigger for it to not tire out your hand as has been reported with the dyson. It can be heavy but with the main motor head on, it pretty much drags the vac around for you, thus only needing to guide/steer it.

We will keep the dc54 as it's a powerful mofo and good for intensive cleaning(rugs, quilt, couch, car) and if there is ever a need for a full house clean. They complement each other well IMO.

      Cheers OP.

  • Vacuum arrived yesterday, although had problems 10 min in.
Can someone help me with a clue on how to pop the grey wheels out of the vacuum head for cleaning? Seized up wheel is marking my floor and pulling to the left…

    • Update: for those wondering, the rollers can be popped out by carefully prying the end of the roller axle up and out of its notch using a 2mm flat screwdriver. This allowed me to clean the fibres away and click them back in place to get them easily rolling again. Unfortunately though it dented my wonderful Xiaomi Wiha 2mm screwdriver bit!

  • @GearBite, are you able to do the Xiaomi Mi Robot price again? I'm interested in buying.

  • LOL. I ordered the AU plug but they sent me the brand new vacuum cleaner. Contacted their customer service and waiting for their reply. Maybe I am not the only one who received the brand new cleaner for purchasing the plug, the description of the plug is a bit confusing to the staff. "Xiaomi Dreame Vacuum Cleaner Au Plug" should have mention "AU plug only".

  • Buyer beware!

I have been in contact with Gearbite through multiple channels (ebay 3 times, OzBargain) trying to get a response on my faulty roborock s50 gen 2 purchased September 2018 via "xiaomiaus" which is another Gearbite username. No emails back and one OzBargain message from "Sam" saying I should talk to their customer service.

How and where Sam? Do you have an email or phone number? I want to return my faulty vac to you for a full refund, please give me details of where to send it and how to arrange my refund, etc.

EBay are bugger all help due to privacy so any suckers out there who use eBay, remember that if you save a few bucks buying from someone without a shop front, you might pay for that later on when you end up with a useless white cylinder in your dirty unvacuumed house. For those of you wondering, my s50 won't charge, constantly ejects itself from the charger because the charging pads need a clean for the umpteenth time today, and therefore can't and won't do its job (aka not fit for purpose).

So Gearbite, hopefully this post gets your attention and you can reply with your contact details or call me direct. You have my number.

    • Did not see this message until now. Will follow up for you directly.

    • I bought the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum from Gearbite ebay back in 2017. After about 3-4 months of use, the unit started making a high pitch noise while operating. I contacted Gearbite and they arranged for it to be shipped back to them. After a few weeks, they confirmed unit was faulty and replaced it under warranty with a new one. For me, the whole process went very smoothly with no issues at all.

  • @Gearbite - Any new deals on the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum? Just moved into our new renovation and keen to get one for our polished concrete floors.
