Deal is gone. Hope everyone got in. I got a 7 month extension in the end, plus a second account for 4 months which is good for guests!

My XBL subscription ended today so I went searching for a cheap deal, and a deal I did find!

5 months of XBOX LIVE GOLD for $5!!

You need to have a current XBL account (either silver or gold) and once signed in on the web site press the link above. You should get the $1 promo offer appear. Choose the 'Go Gold Now' icon and follow the directions.

Each transaction will add another month onto your XBOX live subscription. I did it 5 times and was unable to progress any further, however my account does have 5 months access added. I will try to add more later so see what you can get.

Just remember to ring up the XBL support line and disable Auto-Renew before your $1 promo periods end so you don't get charged the regular monthly price. Call 1800 555 741 and it takes only a few minutes.

    great find, i was able to buy 4 times, so i got 4 months worth of xbox live until i got the "This action cannot be performed at this time. Please try again later. For more information, go to http://www.xbox.com/support" message.

    also they take an extra 2 dollars for taxes, as i checked my netbank, apart from that im happy for 4 months for $6.

      I don't think the extra $2 is taxes as GST included.

      But each time you get the "This action cannot be performed at this time" message a hold is being put on the credit card for the purchase amount that failed. This should clear in 24 hours, so keep an eye on it and if it sticks around, ring up MS.

      I got that message twice and have been charged an extra 2 times in my pending transaction list on internet banking.

        yea i rang MS today and removed the auto renewable and plus i asked about the extra $2 charge, they said you will get that back it just a authorization fee for the transaction.

        anyways im happy got 4 months for $4. :)

    I want to get live, but i dont want to call bloody microsoft to cancel auto renews..

    I got about 2 years free from a microsoft bungle before when they were giving out free months, but unfortunately it ran out last month.

    this is good value but dont want to call em..

    I got the error message Please enter a valid credit card number. This could be due to the fact I added then removed this credit card in the past. Read this might black list it.

    LOL told a friend in USA about this, they did it and then rang M$ support to cancel auto renew. The M$ rep said:

    "I see you have been doing what I reccomend, which is bargain hunting"

    They seem to be onto this but did not renege.

    I used to play Xbox live but got bored of the 13 year old american trolls. A bargain for those that still use live though.

    I have the way they have XBL subscrip.

    When you subscribe from in dashboard you have to ring them to cancel it, what a hassle.

    And also with the bonus points they sometimes offer if you subscribe for 3 months etc, they don't give it to you till 6-8 weeks after the promotion ends, what bullshit is that.

    I rang Xbox Live today to remove my auto-renewal. I asked them when my subscription ends they said December. I could have sworn mine went to January.

    When I checked my Netbank I had 4 x $1 charges then 3 x $2 charges. If that's the case and you can get 12 months for about $47 then this isn't a bargain at all.

    Something to do with the method by which you paid mate. My mate and I used Visa and we've only got the $1 charges.
