    • says u cant buy it online, in store only.

    • +6

Seems optimal to activate a preexisting $30+ Boost starter kit, so that 150 Anytime+ recharged holds 115 GB. Just my reading of https://boost.com.au/anytime-plus-faqs/#1551133140155-925d7f…

      • this needs to be made known

      • +4

Can you please elaborate? I dont really get it. Thanks in advance!

        • +4

          What I did last month was;

          1. Bought a 40$ 28-day sim (was half price limited time) for 20$. This gave me 45gb, plus another 15gb on my next recharge.

          2. Bought the $150 plan, and recharged my plan with it after the 28 days.

This means that instead of 80gb, I got 95gb plus whatever data rolled over.

          • @cathole: Did it actually work for you?

Just spoke to rep, they reckon this 15GB bonus is not valid for $150 plan recharges.

            • @LivingOnTheEdge: I'll have to check, it was more than 30gb's rolled over though. Could be no bonus, but instead all remaining of the 45gb rolled over.

      • +2

On the Coles $135 deal, one is paying $10.69/month and getting 6.66GB of data.

Based on daver’s comment above (which I think is a great idea), the way I read it is

        1. Go through SB/CR and purchase a $30 starter pack for $15 ($5/$4.5 rebate)
        2. Purchase a $150 recharge from Coles for $135 (5% off for those with EGC)
          Total expenditure = $138.25

        3. Activate the $30 starter pack. 28 days with 35GB of data

        4. Recharge using the $150 recharge before the 28th day for another 80GB of data
Therefore 12 months and 28 days validity with 115GB of data

Works out to cost roughly $10.63/month with 8.85GB of data

Basically, one is getting an extra 2GB each month for extending their commitment with Boost for 13 months instead of 12 months.

        • +3

Very good idea! Can someone please confirm if this works?

        • Doesn't the 35gb data expire after 28 days? Or does it rollover onto the 80gb?

Edit: seems like it does rollover!

        • +1

Nice. That's assuming that the data would roll over.

        • Don't forget a 15GB bonus on the $150 recharge as part of the "first 5 recharges" deal.

          • @wakie: Don't think the 15GB bonus is applicable to the $150 recharge (at least not according to the boost website).

            • @hubs1982: I think it does, according to their FAQ.

              DOES BONUS DATA ROLLOVER?
Yes, bonus data will rollover to your next recharge when you recharge $30+ before expiry.

              https://boost.com.au/anytime-plus-faqs/#1551133140155-925d7f…

              • @wakie: Do you mean that we get 130GB in total? 20GB + 15GB + 80GB + 15GB?

                Asking since I previously wrote
"Therefore 12 months and 28 days validity with 115GB of data"
                115GB consisting of 20GB + 15GB + 80GB

                • @hubs1982: Yep, it's a proof of concept but I think it would be 130GB over (essentially) 13 months.

        • I doubt this works. The Critical Information Summary states; "Rollover unused data to use within your next recharge on all 28 day expiry plans". Since the $150 recharge is not a 28 day expiry plan, suggests it does not accept/inherit rollover data. Anyone confirmed otherwise?

          • @auMouth: My interpretation is the 365 day plan will not rollover, but the 28 day plan will rollover if you spend $30 or more before expiry. They don't appear to state that you must rollover to another 28 day plan.

        • Please note that First recharge by 13 May 2019, with remaining four recharges by 2 September 2019.

In that case, I might buy 4x $15 and then add the $150 on 5th recharge.

So I could get 150gb (5x15GB assuming rollover data), then add 80GB, then I will have at least 155GB for 12 months!!!!

          Is that right????

          • @Jacku: If you buy 4 x $15 they will be 4 separate services. They won't be on the one account.

      • +1

From the T&c's for the bonus 15gb of data 'First recharge by 13 May 2019'. But as I read it, any used data in the initial 35gb does roll over

Edit: Yes, when you activate on a $30/$40/$50 SIM start kit before 13 May 2019, you will get the bonus 15GB on activation. This will count as your first recharge. You have until 2 September 2019 to make the remaining for $30+ recharges to get the bonus 15GB on each recharge.

So, can activate the $30 sim bought for $15 (minus CR/SB) to get 35gb, then recharge with Coles voucher which gives a bonus 15gb on top of the 80gb.

        • +1

          @wakie @MelC
Cheers, this is a real good deal!

        • Except the Critical Information Summary states; "Rollover unused data to use within your next recharge on all 28 day expiry plans". Since the $150 recharge is not a 28 day expiry plan, suggests it does not accept/inherit rollover data. Anyone confirmed otherwise?

        • @MelC Have you tried it to see if it works?

      • Does anyone know when this recharge would expire? I.e. Can I purchase now and leave for a few months when old plan expires. Cheers. Not much luck when asking Boost direct..

        • Jan 2021

  • Finally a cheap plan to switch to Telstra on!
I was on Kogan, but now i'm gonna jump ship!

  • Does international calling includes international landlines and international mobile?

  • Feels like the energy has been building towards an Aldi type stampede through the doors of Coles when they open at 6AM in the morning to grab the $2 SimCard before there all gone :)

    • +1

Decided not to take the risk of not getting one, so popped into Coles on my way to work this morning and picked two up. Paid for using EGC.

PS. There weren't that many $2 sim cards left on the shelves.

  • Just want to confirm (sorry if it's been answered already) but I can just buy this SIM, port number from aldi over to boost and cancel my monthly aldi recharge?

    • +1

Yes. That's how changing carrier works.
      1) go to boost.com, port number
      2) keep using aldi sim
      3) aldi sim will stop working within 4-24 hours
      4) plug boost sim in. It should work.
      5) go to Aldi website and cancel plan

      • is it required to cancel plan with older provider if it's prepaid? i.e. once the number is ported over, why will/can the older provider still debit from your account? After all there is no valid service being provided to do a debit?

        • +1

Call up your old provider; it depends on the provider. I changed from TPG -> Exetel and i had to call TPG to cancel after the port was done.

  • Damn, I bought a $2 Boost sim from Coles a few days ago in anticipation of just being able to then go to the Boost website during the prescribed period and purchasing the deal for $135, then porting and activating the deal in three months when my current Kogan plan expires. Sounds like I'll need to return it, then buy one again with the $135 (down from $150) recharge pack, then activate it in three months?

    • Some users have gotten a $150 charge (no sim) for $135. Otherwise, return the $2 sim, then buy a $2 sim and $150 credit

  • -1

Just walked over the road to Coles.

They've never seen an 80GB Boost recharge. I called a few other Coles. Sames story.

So I wouldn't rush out for them just yet. I guess the Boost rep took a sicki. Or management haven't figured out that they need to deliver sim cards to Coles so that they can sell the things.

    • +2

As quoted at the start of this offer

"It says $2 sim card + $150 recharge need to be purchased together to qualified for $135."

So my understanding is, grab a $2 sim then ask for a $150 recharge

      • +6

I bought one this morning. Grab a $2 Boost SIM. Goto the counter and ask for a $150 Boost mobile recharge. Check that it comes up as $135 before you pay. Your receipt will have the recharge voucher code printed on it, once complete.

    • i'm an idiot. Ignore me.

All purchased. Now to port my number over from Bogan

  • +2

Just got mine, the $150 recharge scanned at $135 and when she scanned the $2 SIM it stayed at $135. Coles Eden Rise Berwick VIC

    Cheers OP!

    • Can you confirm what the expiry date is on your $150 voucher? Does it have one printed?

      • +4

        Recharge: 17/01/2021
        SIM card: 26/05/2020

        • +1

Right. for the people who want to use it in December, just buy another $2 sim card later.

          • @aong152: Most people shouldn't need to buy another sim card as the expiry date is more than 365 days away! But make sure you check the sim card date as who wants to spend another $2!

            • @LucyDartnell: Right, I just realised the years were 2020 and 2021 not 2019 and 2020

        • This ☝🏻

  • +3

No stock at hurstville station - only 30/40/50/200 recharges
Edit: oops, gonna go back and ask for a $150 recharge

    Alright
    Get a $2 sim from checkout#4 or #5

Ask for $150 boost charge and scan the $2 sim at the cigarette counter

    Should show up as $135

    Roughly 10-15 SIM cards left.

I couldn't find any sim cards at hurstville Westfield but didn't ask

    Recharge expires 17/01/2021

  • Still a wee bit confused on how to get this offer. The local coles did not have $150 recharge cards on the shelf? Can I just grab a $2 sim and the people at the service desk will be able to just add the recharge? (I went into the store and asked about it and she said had to wait for stock…)

    • Yes. Get $2 sim card, scan it at service desk and add $150 charge. Must be same transaction.
      Price will change instantly.

  • +3

Note that I have seen some Coles keep some of the prepaid cards locked in. So in case you don't see it in the rack, ask customer service.

    • Yep mine were in a cupboard

  • What if the $150 plan disappears in 3-4 months time - then I'll have a $150 credit paperweight?

    • +1

      Take a photo of it…

      • Right so the voucher is tied to the 80 gb deal and not to just $150 credit? Has anyone tried it yet?

Basically say in 6 months time $150 now gives say 100gb, or they remove the $150 plan entirely and replace it with a $160 plan, will the voucher still redeem to 80gb 365?

        • comment removed. The above comment was updated explaining what they mean.

    • I would also be concerned regarding this. You are only buying a recharge valued at $150, so if $150 gives you a different deal when you recharge then too bad.

      • We just have to pray that the offer stays, get better and the company doesn't shut down.

  • +10

MUST DO TIP! Take a photo of the recharge code ASAP. All my Coles dockets are not readable after 6 months

    • Should you stock up on recharge codes? Surely, there'll be better deals in the near future, right?

      • +2

I think there will be better deals in one years time, so best to just get 1 year and reevaluate later

      • +1

I wouldn't. You can buy another $150 recharge for $150. You are saving $15, but I feel like data plans will get better in 2020.

I bought too many $99 Aldi plans and have learned not to buy too many as better offers come along.

  • +3

    Very long expiry: 17/01/2021

    Thanks OP!

  • +1

Had to go to two Coles stores. The first said they didn't have the $150 packs yet and wouldn't try $2 Sim plus recharge. Second store wasn't confused and simply scanned a $2 Sim and $150 recharge which showed as $135 total.

    Recharge expiry 17 Jan 2021

  • +2

Simply grab a $2 SIM and the Coles catalogue, then show page 31 to the cigarette checkout person

    • +1

That's what I did! At 7:02 AM, they picked up the store phone and called someone asking how to do it.

    • +2

Depends on who is behind the counter. Some see the image on page 31 and look for the card and decide they have no stock

    • +1

      Yes..
I went to two coles centers.
None got this in shelf.First place asked said…
They dont have it yet..same in the next..went through 4 people in these two places..
      :(
Then saw your msg and asked them to do it like that..
Then only even that person know this works..
      Thanks heaps…
      :)

Just go to the checkout and ask to purchase $150 recharge. They will print a receipt which has recharge code. Comes up as $135 in system.

$2 sim is not required (most stores don't have them either).

  • Not working at Coles Somerville.

    • What do you mean not working?

      • +4

Need to tell the staff member what to do.

Step 1: Hi, how you doing today>
Step 2: Staff member scan $2 sim card
Step 3: Can I buy $150 boost recharge, please?
Step 4: Did price change to $135 on the computer screen?
Step 5: Pay with Cash/Card/Gift card
Step 6: Thank you, have a great day

        • When clicking on the option on the checkout screen it comes up with a screen asking for a pin and then one second later goes to a 'transaction could not be completed' sign. Same thing on the self checkout sign.

  • +8

Went to Coles, Kings Langley. Cigarette counter. Asked for Boost $150 recharge. Came up as $135. Did not buy SIM. Voucher code printed on receipt. Expires on 17-01-2021. Used code straight away on existing activated SIM, since I did not have any credit.Checked balance on phone. All seems good.

  • +4

I encouraged most of my family out in the country to switch over to Boost because of the benefits of the full Telstra network, and this deal has made it even better for them going forward.

My mum, stepdad, grandmother and sister have all picked up one of these recharges today, and it will see all but my sister through the full 12 months (data will be the ticking clock for her).

Also, when they purchased the recharge, they didn't need to buy the SIM to get it for $135. They are all already on Boost so it would have been a waste, so bit of a plus for the environment there.

  • +1

Want to ask, I have the Boost SIM and $30 first recharge. But can I keep the $2 SIM and not use it and use the $150 recharge down to $135 at Coles. Is that possible. Keep the $2 SIM for someone else to use it.

    • Yes, you should be able to use your $150 recharge on your existing sim card.
Save the sim card for the next year in cause your sim card breaks.

  • Can anyone explain the discrepancy between people saying they have vouchers expiring Jan 2021 and ”for use in AU within 12 months." condition in catalogue? Not the first discrepancy I've encountered with Sims/conditions/actual expiry lol

My hunch is voucher date overules everything but just confirming.

    • +3

Voucher must be activated by Jan 2021. After activated it will be valid for use within 12 months of activation date.

    • On my, it does say 2021. But do keep in mind that Optus and Telstra normally offer you 12 months

  • Good to hear that you can buy the recharge without the SIM…otherwise my next question was, can we get a raincheck if out of stock as it's a special

    • Sim card comes free, so it is a no brainer not to get one.

  • So seems like no need to hurry in to get this deal as you can just buy the $150 recharge voucher.

But then if for some reason Coles insist you need to buy the $2 SIM as well then you can always get a raincheck for both.

    • I don't think you can on both because Coles added a $2 gift card to the transaction to make the sim card free

  • +1

OK, so looks like its possible just to buy the recharge voucher from coles, meaning I can just activate the $2 sim i already got from boost, and just use the voucher code to recharge, all can be done online, right?

    • That's correct

      • But the $2 sim they scanned will be free anyway, only if those coles allow you to just buy the recharge voucher, if they insist you need the $2 sim and they got no stock, then we are screwed …

  • +1

Can this not be taken from Coles Central, i.e. the stores in the City? Tried two stores in the City and they are unable to add the item for checkout. I did the $2 SIM scan too prior to the recharge selection, still the recharge doesn't come up. I tried myself at self-serve checkout too, still it did not add the item.

Looks like the $150 recharge is disabled at Coles "Central" stores. Was anyone able to buy from a Coles Central or Coles Express?

    • +1

Which "City" store have you tried?

      • Brisbane CBD, Queens Plaza.

    • +1

No luck from Coles Ingle farm too. The lady scanned the $2 simcard but unable to add the recharge value. The other lady said the connection is lost and asked me to try again tonight.

      • +1

Returned to the store this evening and the guy at the customer service desk managed to get it done without any problem.

    • +1

I had a similar problem at a regional store.

    • +1

I found catalogue does not usually apply to Coles Central or Coles Express stores.

      • Thanks for this. Is it mentioned in the Catalogue anywhere? Wondering how I missed it.

        • +2

"Promotional prices not available at Coles Express (unless otherwise indicated), Coles George Street, Coles St Leonards or Coles Wynyard.
