  • bought one at Acland St Kilda coles $135 with free $2 sim cards, a lot sim card they have, and pay with flybuys card to reach 10000 point for second weeks.
    Thanks OP.

  • No SIMs at Spencer St Melbourne, they said never received them. Can confirm self service check out hit $150 and comes up at $135.

    • The staff either don't know or don't care, probably the latter. Still 3 sim cards left at this store at the time of this post. It is displayed in a different spot to the other sim cards.

      • Those 3 are now gone as of this morning. I grabbed the last one according to staff, as the staff had just taken the other two SIMs for a phone call requested hold.

  • 14x $2 Boost SIM still left at Burwood, VIC Coles.

    • Went at lunch time and they had none, ended up going to Coles Vermont South.

      • I was there at 6pm-ish and physically counted 14 left…

  • X20 or so $2 Sims @ Pimpama city Coles as at 8pm Wed 24/4.

  • Why has this got more vote than the catch connect offer? Im undecided which one to get so hopefully someone can explain. Same deal $135 80GB for 365 days and $15 cashback via cashrewards. So isnt the catch connect better value if you can get $15 cashback?

Maybe because of UNLIMITED INTERNATIONAL standard calls & text to 25 selected destinations +1200 standard mins & text to 30 selected destinations and
      Stream Apple Music Data Free???

      • Ahhhh thank you.

        • +8

And Catch Connect is on the Optus Network.

      • how do you "Stream Apple Music Data Free"? thanks

        • +3
          1. Purchase an Apple Music subscription.
          2. Listen to music.
          3. Remark on the fact that your data usage is not increasing.
  • I just bought their $30 SIM for $15, includes 35GB for the month, can I still get this deal once the month is up?

    • Yes, buy and use the topup to get 1 YR of service.

      • Would any unused data carry over?

  • +1

I bought recharge voucher for $135 and $2 sim card from Coles today evening. I am entering 13 digit SIM card number to activate it is saying invalid or card has already been used. Any suggestion or comments to rectify this issue?

    • I have the same issue. I think the Sim card didn't scan properly. I used a self checkout and it completed without needing staff intervention. I think it needs staff intervention to activate the sim card.

      • Did you scan the normal barcode on the top RHS or the longer bottom one that has about 30 digits? Is the expiry date still current?

        • I have no idea which barcode I scanned. The expiry is August 2020.
Anyway it's not a big deal as I have already bought a boost sim before (which is working).

    • which coles did you buy it from?
surrounding coles does not seems to know this offer.

  • If I activate my SIM without porting, can I port in my existing number onto the SIM in a few weeks time (once my existing pre-paid expires)?

    • No, telcos here don't do that (even though it could be done technically).

      • +1

It only activates on the existing sim number for a few minutes and you can't extend that for weeks.

Vodafone have a similar porting process with a temporary number.

When porting to boost it shows the existing sim number before replacing it with your ported number.

Scary the first time you see it as looks like they are activating the wrong number.

Fortunately they advise the correct number in the confirmation email.

    • I doubt you can do that, just activate when you need to port. The deal will still work if you buy it this week.

  • Went to three Coles stores today and none had any of these. All said they never had any at start of the day either. Love the deal but can't get it if they never had it to sell.

    • +1

You need a printed $150 recharge voucher. Were they looking for $150 starter packs in drawers instead?

      • Nope. I think I will try again today and ask for that.

    • Likewise, I went to three around Perth WA and the staff behind the counter said they didn't have stock for it.

      • +2

I bought one at Coles Riverton, WA this evening. The service counter staff said there isn't any $2 SIM stock after checking the cupboard. But I managed to find at least 10 $2 SIM near the checkout lanes. Hope it helps.

  • Nice got 2 this evening, woop!

  • Does this count towards the Coles container promotion?

    • +2

      No.

      Terms and Conditions
To receive a Container Credit spend $20 in one transaction (after savings and discounts) at Coles or Coles Online (excludes Coles Express). $20 spend excludes the purchase of all gift cards, including iTunes, alcohol, smoking related products, mobile phone recharge, Opal card top ups and charity donations. Offer ends 2 July 2019 and credits can be redeemed instore until 16 July 2019. For full terms and conditions visit coles.com.au/containers

    • I can't get this container promotion. Basically you have to spend $200 ($20 transactions 10 times) to be eligible for one container (which is hardly $5 in value).

  • Bought 2 x $150 recharge this evening from Coles!

  • +1

Thanks got 1 today and will get 1 more tomorrow
$11.25 for 6.66GB and unlimited calls and text p/m on the Telstra network is great value
Now just have to watch family members' usage to make sure they don't chew through 80GB in less than a year

    • +2

A quick way is to dial #111*2# from their phone.

Boost only allow access via the sim so you can't check remotely via a browser login unless hotspotting off their sim data.

I have been to 4 Coles stores (Northland, Summer hill, Northcote Plaza (2x)) in Melbourne yesterday.

I simply went to the front desk counter and showed them the catalogue in the first 3 stores, the staff looked at the recharge containers & counters and told me they don't have any.

Finally, in the last store (Dennis St end in Northcote plaza), I've found many $2 Boost sim cards in the $200 section.

I specifically told the front desk person that I only want to buy $150 Boost recharge voucher and not a starter pack. He said "Recharge voucher, ahh Yes". He looked in his computer, found the vouchers, scanned my $2 sim cards and told me it's $270 for both vouchers & sim cards.

  • +2

Thanks OP. TL;DR port from Belong took about 10 minutes.

Went to Coles, got a $2 SIM. At self service, I added the $2 SIM, got the human approval, then screen said "set aside". Did the rest of my shopping, including "lookup" and "mobile recharge voucher". Selected $150 Boost, was added to my shop at $135. At payment screen, Coles human did 2nd authorisation, voucher was on receipt.

Put in phone, selected use existing number (with Belong on $10 plan), entered details. About 10 minutes after "activation pending", got the "activation completed" text. Using link, added the voucher, and all sweetness and light for 12 months.

    • Thanks. Good to know that you can port from Belong to Boost easily without any hassle. Will do this too when my Belong plan run out next month. Going to Coles now to hunt for that $2 sim!

If you go overseas and don't buy the roaming pack, will your phone still connect to the overseas network to allow you to receive text, or will your phone not connect to the overseas network at all?

  • Is this still available?

    • +1

      Yes, until Tuesday night

      • +1

Coles Stores closed today for ANZAC day, right? I need to hunt a suburb on Saturday.

        • +2

I think only half day today but check the Coles website to see your local store

NSW stores open from 1PM (some not all)

      • Thanks, couln't find it in current Coles catalogue

For those who plans to pay via Coles egift card, this is my experience on my purchase yesterday:
    1. Found some $2 SIM despite service counter staff telling me there was none.
    2. Proceed to self check out with some other groceries.
    3. Scan the $2 SIM and staff helped to add the $150 recharge.
    4. $2 was debited against the $2 SIM and the $150 recharge showed up as $135.
    5. Nett $135 for $150 recharge and $2 SIM. All good till now.
    6. Proceed to select payment by gift card.
    7. Message "Can't pay gift card with gift card. Proceed to service counter…" pop up on the screen.
    8. Staff came over and reiterated gift card cannot be used to pay gift card.
    9. Told her that I was buying a prepaid SIM card+recharge voucher and not gift card.
    10. Another staff came over. They couldn't figure on why this happened.
    11. I suggested to cancel the $2 SIM and I can have a second go with the gift card payment.
    12. Voila! Payment via egift card accepted.

Does anyone paying with Coles egift card has similar experience?

    • Thanks. So best to get a recharge only, the sim itself is the problem I guess.

      • It looks like that is the case as the Coles system seems to scan the $2 SIM as gift card when it is free of charge. Would love to hear from anyone if you have a work around to still have the $2 SIM free.

    • +1

Weird, I had no problem paying for my sim + recharge with a gift card. I even split the payment without issue.

      • Strange indeed! I presume you used the self check out too? Pay with egift card and not physical gift card?

        • I paid with two egiftcards using self checkout. The only strange thing was that a message popped up saying that the attendant needed to put an expiry date on the gift card.

      • Was it cash + eGift card ?

    • I heard coz the deal got ozbargained a lot of coles decided not to manually activate the recharges anymore. Usually with prepaid vouchers an attendant has to swipe their card so it was strange yours had to be verified. Maybe this was earlier in the day before they updated the workaround?

    • I let the staff do it for me (didn't bother with self checkout), no issue. The staff:

      1. Scanned the $2 SIM card
      2. Added the recharge voucher
      3. Checked the total charge is $135
      4. Instead of doing split payments with exact eGift card amount, the staff intentionally used the e gift card for the full amount
      5. System detected insufficient amount, re-adjusted it with the gift card amount
      6. Same thing happened when the second gift card was used
      7. Had me tap my credit card for the remaining balance

I reckon the staff did it that way to save the trouble for entering the gift card amount manually. One of the staff knew the deal and what to do. The odd thing is that while I get the 4 cents fuel discount, flybuy only seems to register points the $2 SIM purchase (but not for the voucher purchase).

    • Thanks for this step by step process.. was a bit confused at first as I was looking for a $150 sim card.

I did exactly as you did above but I had no problems paying with eGift cards. Even paid with 2 separate ones ($100 + $50).

Everything went through as normal, simcard $2 was deducted so $0 with recharge.

    • Yes, I had the same experience today. It seems to be that the free $2 SIM card is being treated as a gift card and gift cards are not allowed to purchase gift cards. I guess I'll just have to pay for the SIM card… The self-checkout attendant tried to help and tried to clear the error, but after two goes, it kept coming up and they couldn't find a way around the error. They ended up just voiding the SIM card, so I only bought the $150 recharge for $135.

    • Coles at Garden City (Brisbane) refused to let me pay with an eGiftCard

      • Removing my Comment here as I didn't read above comments!

  • Activating it online via a browser is hell. The options are white lol, managed to get through it.

  • For all the OzBargainers in Melbourne's Inner West: I bought the Boost $2 SIM (and the voucher, of course) from Coles in Altona, there were a few cards left behind the Boost Voucher display tag (behind the service desk). Same at Coles Altona north an hour or so ago (4pm) today.

    Hope this helps :-)

  • +4

I found the best way to get these in store; you need to ask for the $2 Boost SIM card at the front counter and they'll know exactly what you're asking for. They'll open one of their drawers (next to the cigarette cabinets) and start to pull out one. Then ask for the $150 recharge voucher to be on the same receipt (it'll pop up as $135).

I found out the hard way - if you ask for the $135 or $150 Boost SIM card, they'll say they ran out or never had any (as there's no such item). They may just refer you to get a $30 Boost recharge SIM pack.

    • Is the $150 voucher for this deal, just a standard paper receipt printed on the spot or is it one of those specific cards that hang on a shelf hook?

      • It's a recharge, so it's printed on receipt. I bought two recharges with mixed gift cards and ended up with a 60cm receipt! Lol…

  • My local Coles didn't have any $2 SIM left so I just bought the recharge voucher by itself and ordered the SIM directly from Boost online. Sure I paid $2 more but it beats driving around to other Coles and it doesn't look like many of them have anymore in stock anyway.

    • I thought if you don't get the $2 sim together with the $150 re-charge in one transaction the price of the re-charge will be $150 instead

of the discounted $135 for the bundle?

      • +1

It's $135 without the sim card, you can buy it on self checkout machine.

      • +2

na. recharge itself is $135 and the sim is complimentary if purchased in one transaction. Don't believe what the staff says.

      • +1

As others have said, you can get the recharge voucher by itself and the discount would still apply. If you also manage to get a $2 sim in the same transaction then it's free but if not you can always get it from other stores or online directly from Boost.

        • Thanks. I read the comments early on most of page one, then came back here without reading other 4-5 pages.

          Now I know lol.

  • +1

Excellent deal. Used eGift Card without issues to bring down the deal price by another 5%.

  • Any friendly geek know what the size limit of a Boost MMS is? I've been with Belong and Vodaphone recently, and both are just 300kB which makes pictures pretty poor quality. I thought Telstra was 2MB back in the day, hoping it still is… anyone know?

  • do I need to get the prepaid pack (80GB) coming with a SIM? (a)

    or

I can get a $2 SIM pack and $150 recharge from Coles, both included in one transaction? (b)

want to make sure a) and b) both works as Coles do not do refund of telco pack.

    • The deal is (b) because option (a) doesn't exist.

  • I already have a $2 SIM. So if I purchase a $150 recharge from a self serve checkout, it will go through at $135?

    • +2

      yes

  • I have activated my $2 Sim card and ported my number from Virgin from Wednesday night, 24/04, until this morning the number is not ported yet.
Is it take so long for Virgin ported to Boost?

    • +1

No but yesterday was holiday. Do it during business hours if you want a quick port.

      • Thanks, I have the answer to my problem, my previous provider have my DOB wrong, that the reason Boost put my porting on hold.
        all good now.

        • How did you find out your dob/details was wrong? Did you have to call the previous provider?

          • +1

@ATTS: I called Boost to enquire about my porting status, Boost told me my porting is put on hold due to my DOB mismatch, Boost told me to give my Current provider a call to fix it. I called my provider and they confirmed my DOB is wrong and I need to email them my driver license and second ID to fix the problems. This might take them 24 hours to update my details once they receive my 100 point ID.

  • Finally seems all coles sorted out the error. Just went downstairs to my local one. Grep a $2 sim from the rack, goto the cigarette counter, and the lady will just scan the $2 sim first then picked the $150 recharge, it will showed up as $135 and took the $2 sim amount off.

So now do I activate the sim from online via browser and wait until the porting done first, then plug in the new sim and dial #111# to recharge the voucher code? easiest way? Someone said it will be painful to recharge voucher via browser?

    • Worked fine for me using Firefox browser with ublock and privacy badger…

  • +5

Poor Kogan customer database will be like a massacre this and next month with so many of us jumping off to Boost …

  • When porting over, in other providers, did you guys put Vodafone or Kogan in service provider? I would assume it's Vodafone since it's the main network.

    • Kogan, just did one.

      • Thanks!! Just got off customer support, went through even though I put Vodafone!

        • I put Kogan too last month. I guess it goes to Vodafone anyway, as when I initially had issue it’s also Telstra called me (not Boost) to inform

  • is this part of the weekly catalogue? which means this deal is already expired?

    • Coles weekly special period always start from Wed to the following Tues. And I bet these recharge vouchers will never sold out.

      • Sorry my bad, just read this:

Offer valid Wed 24 Apr - Tue 30 Apr 2019

        • Correct, you have 5 days to make your move.

  • the deal should say voucher is valid to be used within 12 months.

    • Boost have not indicated the 12 months plan will remain there 12 months from now. I seem to recall reading somewhere that the plan is only confirmed till late this year.

  • Has anyone got a price beat from Officeworks? They sell the $2 boost sims, but not sure about the $150 recharge.
