That’s the beauty of prepaid, not being ripped of by telcos for using it a bit over without notifying you

    • +1

I called and asked. After 80GB, data stops working until you recharge $150. Sadly no data top-up :(

      • Great work. Thanks

      • I called and they told me that I can top up at $5 per 500MB!

Does anybody else have a view?

        • +1

Did you tell them about the $150 plan? And ask them what happens after the 80GB? I wondered if you can do a $5 data top up and they said no. This plan limit is 80GB.

If you didn't tell them either $150 or $300, they would say yes. You can do a data top up.

          • @LucyDartnell: no I didn't.
            Thanks.

Still a good deal even if I have to top up. Or I can just port over if a better deal is available elsewhere.

  • If I’m currently with Boost can I use this?? Or do I need to to port out and join again??

    • You'll need to buy a new sim to get the deal, but I doubt there's a need to port out as there's no mention of it being for new customers.

      • Thanks

  • This or the catchconnect plan 🤔

    • +1

It really depends on coverage in the areas you need access. In rural Australia, especially remote areas like far north Queensland, outback WA and SA, Boost is the way to go. Otherwise current Catch Connect deals have way more data with similar coverage in the cities and most towns. Check Boost and Optus coverage maps for the areas you need network access. It's all about where the towers are, and all the Telcos, including Telstra, have black spots.

My Boost recharge is showing expiry of 17/1/2021

    • This, just from a even a privacy record perspective.

    • +2

Boost includes free international calls, Catch doesn’t. That’s sold it for me

  • What's the expiry date on this please?

    • we'll find out on Wednesday

  • Wow. One of the very best mobile deals gets even better. Amazing.

  • +1

I assume the sim must be activated during the above period? My 365 day Kogan credit expires in early June. Whether to forego the month or so and activate this deal, or wait a bit longer and hope an even better deal comes out …

  • +6

For those curious about activation, last thread said this:

"For those who are looking for activation due date. I asked Boost rep and she mentioned this:

"If you buy the SIM card today, we will be more than happy to activate the SIM card for you up to 6 months."

    Presumably 26 Aug 2019.'

My kogan will be up in 3 months so thinking about whether I should take this now and sit on it for 3 months or just wait. Potentoially there will prob be another mobile deal pop up in that time that equals or betters this.

    • My thoughts as well, although my Kogan SIM expires in Nov

  • Do we get flybuys points and does this purchase qualify for flybuys promotions (eg. spend X get Y points etc)?

    • +1

I tried today morning and it didn't work with $120 spend

      • Thanks.

  • Does Coles have any gift card promo running

  • I am already on Boost now. Can anyone confirm if I can use this? Or I need to port to other carriers first and then port to Boost again?
    Cheers

    • +1

Yes, you can buy the sim and recharge voucher then use just the voucher to recharge your current service. Give the SIM to a poor ozbargainer or keep for emergency/art piece.

  • What happen if you go over limit?

  • Is it available now or only start after 24 April?

  • Nice timing, my aldi prepaid expires in 4 days

  • +1

Currently have a pre-paid Kogan mobile which runs out June/July..

Could I buy this Boost deal now and wait til closer to my Kogan expiring before activating & porting my number across?

    • +4

      Yes

    • Yes. If you buy today, you have until January 2019 to activate the boost

  • If I'm already on the Boost 28 days prepaid, do I just cancel the auto recharge, insert the new SIM, and activate?

Someone said I can just use the current SIM and recharge to the new plan, but when I tried to do that, the only payment options are to use Saved Payment Method, Enter New Credit Card or PayPal.

  • Can you call forward?

How long do I have to port over? My Aldi expires in December

    • Yes,you can call forward.

  • Does anyone know if you can pick these up from Shell Coles express?

    • it should be at Coles stores only.

  • -5

I need 30-40 GB per month. Any good deal for me? Thanks.

    • +7

Big spender, maybe disconnect a bit more.

      • -7

        So rude

      • -3

Non of your concern how much people use! You are not aware of people's situations.

    • +1

Optus (and its resellers e.g. Catch) tends to offer tons of data nowadays. But if you need Telstra, the Boost $300 plan gives 240GB data (if you use 30GB/mo then that's ~$37.5/mo on Telstra, good for 8 months). If you run out then recharge again.

  • Im tempted on this im already a customer on a old payg at $20 so it cost me over the year $240. Sounds like i would need to start over new sim register?can i use my own current number.

    • Port your number out to Telstra (order $2 sim for FREE online). Then port it in back to Boost.

      • So you cant use your current boost number to this?you need to move to telstra and then to boost? Im not with telstra though.

  • Solid, yearly quota blocks, twice the footprint. My usual has not even remodeled its range to $152.10/240GB and up.

Got Boost Telstra $93/60GB from Woolworths last week for rural data net. 10 GB month, lots. On dual SIM/ city start kits .. <$115 per 510gb seems current competitive benchmark with 4G+'nets.

  • Can both the sim and the recharge be bought over the counter at coles or does the recharge need to be online ?

    • +1

Pretty sure you need to buy both the SIM and the voucher in the same transaction from Coles

      • Hi, I am not sure where to pick up voucher in coles? Do I need to ask over the counter?

  • Can we use ShopBack or Cash Rewards for further savings? Or buy the gift card via SB since I'm not a SunCorp customer?

  • Unlimited international calls to my country.
    Great bonus and value.
    Thanks jassssone

    • No worries:)

  • +2

Shame that Lebara doesn't have any active deals at the moment. Left with no choice but to port to Boost. This is a good deal, the best I could get so far (in Oct'2018) was the $99 for 180 days, Lebara Large Plan with 20GB per month (16GB + 4GB bonus). I wonder why they are going slow on 180 / 365 day promotions.

  • Apart from the international calls and telstra backed network. Why not the Catch connect half price deal compared to this?
And, how long does the voucher last from Coles? Thanks

    • Aren't they the same price? Except Boost need $2 more on the sim card. If International Call and telstra network doesn't worth $2/year or ~17cents/month, there is nothing wrong going for Catch Connect. (Comparing 80G/year plan)

      • -1

Catch plan allocates data to be used per month. Boost gives you 80GB to use however you like over the 12 months.

        • Actually. Completely wrong. It works exactly the same way as this Boost offer. 80GB for the whole year.

          • @constipated: That's strange, I looked at a plan outline earlier today that listed 6.6GB per month over 12 months.

            • @0jay: That was just the OP indicating an average monthly usage.

      • +1

as per ad: "Free a $2 Boost SIM"

Catch has a catch (people getting spam). Otherwise optus vs telstra.

  • +10

Just an FYI for those who have Xiaomi phones running MIUI (high percentage of ozbargain, surely?! :) ). This SIM doesn't work for wireless hotspot until you edit the APN settings.

Edit the APN type under your SIM settings from "default, supl" to "default, supl, dun" and it works nicely.

    • +1

Thanks for this. Does VoLTE work on Xiaomi phones on Boost?

      • I'm not quite sure what VoLTE is, but if it's the super duper fast data transmission over telstra network, the answer is surely yes! I was getting something in the vicinity of 150mbit (!!). It was fast enough that I used speedtest 4-5 because I assumed it couldn't have been correct - chewed through damn near a gig of my 80gb 12 month deal before I realised speedtest was correct and it was THAT fast. Don't do what I did hahah.

  • Damn missed out on this but my friend will get in on this.

The Kogan vs Boost Mobile hunger games have begun!

    • +1

      Kogan vs Boost Mobile

I'm not sure they're necessarily competing for the same market 😅Voda/Optus resellers offer much more data, Boost offer Telstra full network + "non-MVNO features" e.g. VoLTE, WiFi calls. Those happy with Voda/Optus resellers have no real reason to switch to Boost… I switched to Boost because Voda/Optus doesn't work on my train line..

      • +1

True sorry I was being a bit too vague and general.

But yes I agree they are not in the same market.

But for my use case I just go for the cheapest/best value and work from there as honestly I have mixed use case scenarios Cell Tower wise.

      • +1

I'm also switching because of the train line issue. I use around 4gb a month, all on the train, so data cutting out for 1/3 of my trip is annoying.

  • Am I reading wrong? apparently it doesn’t include any international calls. Also availability is limited stores only?

    Could someone clarify?

    catalogue page 31 link:

    https://www.coles.com.au/catalogues-and-specials/view-all-av…

    • +2

I'm pretty sure it's just a voucher for their normal $150 plan so all inclusions should apply.

      • Thanks

      • I want to make certain, it has 1200 international minutes before i buy. Would i be able to look at the voucher at coles before buying ( to confirm the international minutes)

      • Edit; deleted

    • When it says for use in Australia within 12 month. Does it mean you can buy. leave it and activate laterin the year ( just before 12 month)? Or does it mean you the prepaid plan only last 12 month

      • +1

It has been reported above that it has about 40 weeks expiry on it, so it'll need to be activated before then.

        • Thanks

    • Doesnt show up on my Coles catalogue, only the 35gb for $15 does. Is this for selected stores only?

  • When do i have to activate this by? Can I wait till July? I still have 2.5 months left on current plan.

    • about 40 weeks

      • Hi there,
Could I please ask where did you get the info from? My current plan will be expired in 310 days so wondering if i can still recharge at that time :P Thanks

      • +1

I got January 2021. So 20 months from now!

  • I am Telstra customer who needs blank SIM. i already received this blank SIM Boost direct. will it work with this Coles offer ?

    • Yep, you'll need to get a retail sim as part of the offer but just activate the blank one.

  • Hypothetically, if I wanted the $300 250GB deal, then couldn’t I just buy 2x of this deal and then activate over the phone, getting them to apply both 150 recharges as effectively one 300 one?

    • If the math checks out for you, sure.

    • Yes, a rep has confirmed these stack

  • Anyone know if these stack?

    • +2

To answer my own question. I had a chat with Boost mobile support. They confirmed that if you have 2x $150 recharges. You can call or chat with them to combine the 2 vouchers into 1 recharge. That's if you want the larger 12 month 240GB package.

      • I just chatted to Darwin and he said "No"

  • anyone know if you can stack this with online order cash rewards ?
