Only if you have can read JV…….

      • +2

I hope his reading is better than your writing.

        • me don't speak english.

  • +2

Good price, but looks super bulky, the old version seems to be much smaller.

  • +1

I have 3 of the old wifi version, and they have been great, not sure about the big look of these tho

    • I couldnt add the older bedside lamp version to my google home, does it work with yours?

      • Yep via yeelight

        • Ah yup mine works with yeelight but wouldn't show up in the GH app

          • @MeesusEff: you need to add yeelight into your google home, and then hey google sync my devices

            • @asa79: Ahh yep, my vacuum, yicam and the yeelight bulbs are there, just not the bedside lamps, strange.

      • I've had it working for at least a year now, both yeelight and mihome apps worked.
Obviously only the wifi V2 version.

  • Do they come with an AU power cable? Or do you need to use an adapter?

    • +1

      Usually they include an adapter

    • +1

Looked at some vids and it appears to be the CN US type. Not a bad time to invest in a Xiaomi powerstrip ;)

    • Last time it was a standard DC adapter, i was able to replace it with a local sourced one. Should be the same for this one.

  • Any deals on the old version?

  • +3

Has anyone checked it for a microphone?

    • Would be interested in seeing a tear-down

      • +3

You can be the first to do one ;)

Though I seriously doubt it would have a microphone and for a brand this big and global it's a very ineffective and stupid method of spying. Spyware on their phones would be more effective ;)

        • Lenovo was how many times bigger and they still managed to insert spyware into their laptop

          • +2

@lgacb08: Spyware is a bit different to a physical microphone, don't you think?

    • +1

      Network traffic says it doesn't.

  • After using the coupon I'm still being charged $18-$20 for shipping.

    • +1

Have you filled out your shipping details with the correct country? I skipped that part and it wanted to charge me.

      • Thanks, that fixed it for me.

      • Now getting PayPal error generated from their site:

"PayPal gateway has rejected request. The totals of the cart item amounts do not match order amounts (#10413: Transaction refused because of an invalid argument. See additional error messages for details)."

May give it a while & try again later.

        • +1

Yeah try later. Otherwise we can harass the rep tomorrow.

  • Do you need the hub to make this work with HomeKit?

    • +1

According to this video it doesn't. Seems to be as easy as scanning the QR code.

  • I need to stop visiting Ozbargain, this is way too much for Easter

this is way too much for Easter

      It's not even chocolate.

      • +2

        I thought you are unemployed

I don't work for others, if that's what you mean.

          • +2

@jv: People didn't get along with you?

            • @giventofly: I said 'for' others, not 'with' others.

  • does it work with google home / amazon alexa

    • According to reviews it works with Google Assistant. I've not seen anything about Alexa.

    • +1

Support platform: Android 4.4 or iOS 9.0 and above

    • Use Google home voice commands to turn mine off all the time.

      • Can you control the RGB through voice commands or "profiles"?

        • +1

Just tried "change lamp to purple" and it worked fine

    • +1

I have this. It works with Google Assistant.

  • Anyone know what voltage the internal circuitry is running at? Does it step down from 240v?

    • It's 100–240v. Will work fine here.

      • -1

Wondering about internal voltage. Some computerised equipment steps down voltage from 110/240v

        • -3

Sounds like you need to get one and do a teardown because that's not something people generally go and do for these kind of electronics. Or perhaps have you tried Google? That's a smart thing to try though as I did one and found nothing ;)

        • +2

Some computerised equipment steps down voltage from 110/240v

I think you mean all computerised equipment.

          • @spaceflight: Ok, I dont really think semantics’s gonna help answer my question which pertains to the use of internals for other projects.

Looks like the previous gen ran off a powersupply which is promising..

            • @0jay: That's because your question/comments dont make sense. ALL computerized equipment runs off DC not AC so of course it is stepping down from 240VAC.

From what you're saying I assume you're asking what the AC/DC power supply output voltage is. Curious to know why you would need to know this.

              • @Soothsayer: In context of general consumer gear with computer controlled elements the stepdown could take place at just about any point at all.

A toaster for example may be computer controlled but the toasting element will be switched by a relay therefore it’s a mix of 240v and whatever the SOC circuitry is operating on - the converter may be so closely integrated as to make it near impossible to break it down for use in something else.

If this is running off a DC adapter it’s all usable.

As to why, Homekit certified gear is still few and far between making this potentially a good donor for other uses.

  • +3

does it support to have a soft sunrise option where it lights up gradual?

    • I don't own one so I'm not sure. Looking at the effects in videos it's definitely possible to setup timers and functions to adjust brightness.

    • Yep. Have 2, works for me.

      • How dim is the lowest setting? The yeelights lowest brightness is still quite bright.

        • +1

You can adjust the brightness on device or through the apps between 1-100% brightness. You can also use a “Night light” scene in the Mi Home or Yeelight app, which is decently dimmer than the 1% brightness setting. The specs say it goes down to 1 lumen.

  • Rechargeable?

    • No battery. Power only.

  • +5

Anyone getting this error: PayPal gateway has rejected request. The totals of the cart item amounts do not match order amounts (#10413: Transaction refused because of an invalid argument. See additional error messages for details).

    • +4

See above, I'm receiving the same error preventing me from placing an order.

      • Thanks, will try again later

    • +1

      Shame, me too.

    • +1

yeah same here. will try again.

    • Having the exact same issue. Super keen to grab this too…

  • +1

Does anyone know if this can function as a Bluetooth gateway much the same way the original did?

  • Does it come with a AU plug

  • Bought two of these from China for around $35 aud each. Very good. Also now work with HomeKit directly (main change I could see when I played with them in the store)

Neat features like pointing your phone and a colour object and the lamp emulates the colour etc.

  • +1

hmmm anyone else is getting this error when making a purchase?
PayPal gateway has rejected request. The totals of the cart item amounts do not match order amounts (#10413: Transaction refused because of an invalid argument. See additional error messages for details).

  • Got an S10 and an iPhone 7. I'm tempted to buy this but I'm just not sure.

Is there any way for this to act like flux? I like to wind down before bed.

    • You could probably do something with IFTTT.

I don't think it can do it with the Xiaomi app.

  • Price showing as US $29.99 when I got there, added to cart, and…

    503 Service Temporarily Unavailable
    nginx

    • Fixed now.
Oddly, the discount code adds $5.16 "discount" (sic) but also gives free shipping.

So it's not really free shipping, it's about $6 off!

  • +4

PayPal gateway has rejected request. The totals of the cart item amounts do not match order amounts (#10413: Transaction refused because of an invalid argument. See additional error messages for details).

    ok tks bye.

    • Yep, not working, save myself 50 bucks

      • +1

Just get a smart bulb and put it in a regular desk lamp, which will be way more aesthetically pleasing than this thing that looks like a cheap plastic kids toy.

  • +2

Still getting the error. No option to pay with card instead of paypal.

I'm also new to US to AU adapters and don't really understand them, do I need a power converter or something or can I just use a plug adapter thing?

    • +1

You just need a simple adapter. No voltage conversion or anything necessary.

      • Thanks!

        • +1

Remember that what sammul said is not true for everything.

Some things with a US plug will need a voltage converter. This doesn't because it can work on US and Australian voltage.

  • +3

Same problem. Cart subtotal is 29.99 with 5.16 discount - So it should be 24.83 + GST; But the order total is 35. May be there is a verification at payment gateway level which is failing check.

  • +1

OP we're still getting the PayPal gateway error. Do you know if this will be fixed soon?

  • Surely if it works in the xeelight app then it will work with Alexa. Can anyone confirm?

  • +1

    Still the same issue:
'PayPal gateway has rejected request. The totals of the cart item amounts do not match order amounts (#10413: Transaction refused because of an invalid argument. See additional error messages for details).'

  • My Yeelight app doesn’t seem to integrate with HomeKit ?
Any clues appreciated about how this lamp would.

    • +1

You use the qr code on the bottom of the lamp through home app or when you set it up in the mi app

      • Ok thanks

  • +3

Any deals on the Xiaomi toilet seat?
Haven't seen any deals in a while LOL
    WINTER IS COMING :)

  • +1

They obviously don't want my money. I'll try elsewhere.

  • +4

Price before coupon added is $29.99 + $11.16 shipping. Price after coupon added is $35.15 so you are still charging $5.14 for shipping. It is not free!

    • Yeah, Exposed!

    • Good catch there. Technically though all Chinese stores that offer free shipping are charging you for shipping as it's included in the cost.

  • +2

    Anyone successfully ordered?

    • +2

Yep, seems to be working now!

  • Worked for me just then $35 USD = about $49 AUD. Worked fine even though yesterday I was receiving the PayPal error

  • looks so cool! can anyone recommend any cheaper alternative to this?
