  • Wow a $2 discount…

    • +3

Hey! This is a promotional package - our list price for a package like this one is ~$30/month. The $2 discount is just an extra sweetener.

    • $2 discount on the typically OzBargain/LEB price - not on retail.

  • Got this for $85/year, great provider thus far.

Have had weird ping times recently though, seems to now route via Virutel instead of directly.

AussieBB use to be peered directly and it was simple ADL (ABB) > MEL (ABB) > Server.

Now seems to be ADL (ABB) > ADL (Virutel) > MEL (Virutel) > Server

Edit: Seems the return does a lap to Sydney via NSW-IX….
Basically return is MEL > SYD > MEL > ADL as far as I can see? lol

    • Hey,

Looking into this now. The path for FlowVPS -> AussieBB Adelaide looking glass is fine (goes via VicIX) but the path you've posted above shouldn't be the one used.

      • Yeah, routing directly to second hop looks fine too (180.150.2.44). It's only seen when routing directly to my IP/first hop.

Few people are doing traces on AussieBB discord now, if these could be helpful. See the Troubleshooting channel:

    • Hey,

Any chance you could please submit a ticket? Looks like the issue is on ABBs side, they aren't announcing that range in Melbourne, only in Sydney making Sydney the only point the two networks touch for the return path.

      • Yep, will do now. Any information you require? (IE specific trace routes/etc?)

        • Your traceroute to lg.flowvps.com and the IP you're tracing from should be enough to get started :)

    • This is being fixed for anyone it concerns.
Was a routing issue somewhere resulting in the return route going via Sydney.

  • Can you combine 2 of these servers into one in terms of resources?

    • Yep, that's not an issue. Let me know if you're interested and I can send you an order link.

  • Would this be good for a Plex share server?

    • The data traffic is way too low.

      • damn,
i got a google suite just need to pair it with a decent value VPS for ~5-10 users for a plexshare

        • If any users transcode it'll hammer the CPU, which on most budget/promo lines like this will usually get you kicked off of the server as it's not very 'fair share'. Could try a beefy VPS from vultr and see how you fare.

          • @Umcookies: Alpharacks Hybrid dedicated server maybe best at USD20 a month LEB special.

            • @Crownanchor: Alpharacks are horrible, I'd suggest avoiding them. Try searching LowEndTalk - pretty much all feedback on Alpharacks is negative.

For Plex you'd want dedicated CPU, not "fair share". Probably worth trying to find a cheap VPS or low-end dedicated server located in the USA west coast, as getting that much processing power plus bandwidth is prohibitively expensive in Australia. Try using serverhunter.com. BuyVM have dedicated CPU on some of their plans, but their US$15/month plan only has one CPU core whereas you'd probably want at least two.

              • @Daniel15: Forget alpharacks, worst vps provider on the web. I bought 5 servers from them and 3 were a total fail, had to get money back via PayPal as they refused o refund even though the servers were dead

              • @Daniel15: This is interesting as i have a hybrid dedicated with Alpharacks and it is so much better and far more reliable then the previous hybrid dedicated from N3.

  • Can you use this for a game server ? Like team fortress ?

  • Custom/Own ISO's possible?

    • +1

Can make any ISO you like available to be mounted. Just let us know via ticket!

  • Looks Good.
    How much extra IP cost?
Any chance of getting 50GB storage instead of 30GB?
