  • How long does it take for your cashback balance to become available?

    • +1

      Couple of months

    • +1

Cashback will take around 75 days.

    • +1

Depends on the store, you can refer to "Claim In" under the Cashback Info of each store. NordVPN in this case is 75 days.

      • Why on earth does it take that long?

        • +2

In case people buy, get the cash back and then cancel for the entire amount, making a return claim.

        • +2

This is to ensure you haven't cancelled/modified the order or broken any other T&Cs - stores often only get back to us with an order status once cancellation/return windows pass, and they don't do it everyday (they could do it once every month for example).

          https://support.shopback.com.au/hc/en-us/articles/3600003219…

          • @gotyourback: I don't mind waiting 75 days, however can I please confirm that Shopback does receive the cashback within days of the purchase?

I'm mildy concerned that NordVPN might refuse to pay the cashback after the cancellation window expires (30 days)

            • @WaywardOne: We don't receive payment from stores until after a few months once they are approve the orders.

Cashback would only be refused if you've broken any T&Cs (for example, cancelling your purchase, using coupons we haven't listed).

      • Mine didn't even track last time… sent email to you re this…

        • +1

Yep request is in and we'll review it soon.

How does Nord compare to PIA?

    • +5

      Apparently pia speeds much faster.

      • +3

agree with this. PIA was much faster for me when i recently tried both.
PIA achieved 85% of my line speed, whereas nord kept it down to around 20-30% of available. This is for SE Asian servers i.e. Singapore, Indo, Malayasia.
edit - i just checked out both again. PIA is so much better - better speeds, better support (I lodged tickets with both companies) and much better software and app options.
Even with the massive Nord discount, I would still go PIA unless you have a very fast connection (and therefor don't mind the nord speed penalty) and also you don't actually want to interact much with the VPN (like you just set it in background and forget).
Otherwise PIA, all the way. You can get PIA on a 2 yearly for like 3.50USD = ~4.50AUD a month currently.

        • +1 for PIA. I've been using PIA for years and never had an issue with it, most of the time it gets to 85-90% of my line speeds. Tried Nord once and the speeds and reliability don't match PIA's

If you do sign up for these discount deals just make sure to remove your card details after so you don't get charged the full rate when it comes to renewal time.

        • Is Nord better for Netflix?
Netflix US blocked most of the PIA server from what I heard.

          • @vash12: Nord is just plain slow when it comes to everything. I wouldn't bother

        • You can get get PIA cheaper if you're willing to go for a 3year plan. $2.75USD/month.
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/453381

PIA isn't the best VPN around but it's good enough for me for a layer of privacy without sacrificing too much speed.

Any existing users: if NORD VPN works with Netflix and Amazon Prime USA and UK servers?

    • +2

Picked it up middle of the week. UK Netflix no issues. Netherlands as well.

      US seeem to work.

      All on Android TV

Using a smart DNS for Amazon but will try the VPN a bit later and update.

Edit - Amazon Prime app on Vodafone TV (side loaded) detects it's a VPN.

    • I’m using nord on a US based server for Netflix right now, No issues at all there. tried UK previously and again no issues for Netflix or even bbc etc. Hulu etc all seem to work just fine for me aswell.

      • Nord redirects all Netflix requests to USA Most of the time anyway.

To max throughput connect to an Australian server and let Nord do the routing

Also netflix was always slow as hell on Nord and as a compromise had to set the quality low just to stream.

  • Mine didn't track.

    • It does say on their website "Tracking speed 2 DAYS" if that helps.

  • Is the $107.55 before or after the cashback? do you get $86.04 cashback?

    • Before cashback. Yes, although discrepancies will occur due to exchange rate fluctuations.

  • Oh, my purchase from the last 80% cashback doesn't match seem to have tracked? How can I resolve this?

    • +1

      Match up or tracked?

If it doesn't match up, it's because your bank/financial institution does their own conversion. Regardless of how much you pay NordVPN will get a fixed payment in USD. NordVPN then do their own conversion as well back to AUD to report to us.

If it didn't track, you can obtain an invoice number here and submit a claim here.

      • +1

        Oh apologies, it's sorted :)

        • +1

I must say that gotyourback is doing a great job responding to all my questions. Keep up the good work :-)!

  • Speeds will probably depend on the server and loads. I used nord s while back and had almost full speed. I'm on ADSL, so not sure of it'll to up somewhere before reaching nbn speeds. It's very well recommended on reddit

  • I had awful trouble attempting to purchase through the last deal. I tried multiple email addresses, cards etc. If I try again using same email will this be considered a new customer? My email seems to be in their system and I can generate a "forgot password" link/email (even though I didn't purchase, my bank detected the transaction as possible fraud and blocked my card). Thanks

  • Omg, I just bought Nord a few weeks ago - I'm not happy.

  • I heard Express VPN is more reliable than Nord. Any ideas? Trustpilot also better rating on Express

    • Yes, you are correct. Express VPN is the best VPN you can get. But it is expensive. If you are a new user you should be able to get 15 months for around 100 USD (16 months if you get a referral from a friend).

  • So how much is price after cashback??

    3 years just 21.52 ??

    • Using XE: $107.55 USD ~ $153.20 AUD (using exchange rate as of today/now).
      80% of $153.20 => $122.56 AUD

In my pending transaction, I see the tracked amount to be only $118.85 AUD <= Short by $3.71 AUD
My CC has been charged: $158.64 AUD

Assuming my cash back comes through after 75 days, I will be paying $39.79 AUD, which is $1.105 AUD per month
Also, $39.79 AUD is approximately a discount of 75% rather than 80%.

  • Nord was extremely slow for me, be careful

  • +2

    Bought the 3 year deal

    INSTANT REGRET

Speeds are insanely slow. Much prefer ExpressVPN

    • You can ask for a full refund if you've bought it in the last 30 days. Try contacting customer support.

    • Strange. Speeds when connected to an Australian endpoint are pretty good for me, 95-100% of the speed I normally get without VPN enabled.

    • As someone here pointed out, you can get back your money within 30 days.
I get excellent speeds with them most of the time. For my use, i do not need to use an overseas server. I use one of their Australian servers.
Alternatively, you can try NordVPN's recommendation for the country you want and connect to that particular server.

  • @gotyourback Argh! I totally forgot to put in the SHOPBACK coupon code after clicking through from ShopBack. Should I cancel and re-purchase using a different email address?

    • Please ignore. The transaction tracked back to my ShopBack account in less than 2 hours.

  • It is hard to trust Shopback to be honest. Last 15% cashback with Aliexpress did not happen with me. Sent few emails and things are going backs and forth. Even then cashback they recording, pending investigations, is 5% while it should have been 15%.
I followed the instructions, for Aliexpress, and the 'Click Activity' recorded that I went to Aliexpress. Had to wait 7 days and then nothing was recorded in the 'Cashback Activity'. Sent an email and attached the invoice which clearly shows the date of purchase (19 April 2019), but they recorded an investigation dated the day before the 15% cashback was on, plugged the value of purchase before GST in AUD, which the invoice clearly states it was USD. Sent two further emails explaining and attaching the same invoice and still have not given me what they promised during the promotion. In fact they even sent me an email saying do not sent us further emails about the same issue'…….

This was not the first time, my first dealing with Shopback was a purchase when they had a promotion with higher cashback with another merchant. Again, tracked but not recorded. Sent them email with the invoice, I had to wait too long and then gave me much less than what they promised during the promotion.

I will never trust this mob ever again. I do not trust they would give me the full cashback they are promising, based on my past experiences dealing with them - and that is after waiting and sending emails and invoices backs and forth…..

I actually got this three years subscription yesterday with NordVPN. NordVPN gave me a much better instant deal, that did not require any waiting, as I was already registered with them.

    • what deal did you get from them?

      • i didn't need to do anything.

As i said I was already registered with them, ie I already had a subscription with them. They sent me an email two days ago with a special offer, two months before my subscription expires. I have taken it.

        • Again, what deal did you get? How much was their offer and for how long?

    • Better than the after Cashback price? Had to haggle, or a subscription renewal offer?

    • Hi zDave,

Could you PM your ShopBack registered email address? Definitely would like to follow up on this with our customer service team to make sure you're getting the correct rates.

      • Thanks for your offer to help. I PMed you woth my registered email address.

        • +2

Thanks, I've just followed up and have managed to fix this up for you.

  • -3

Regardless I do not know why you guys have to take the risk with Shopback in the first place. According to this deal, at best, if you wait 75 days and the stars are aligned with Shopback and you will not get to have a similar experience to mine, you will get the same deal
Just use this link below, or even use google

    https://nordvpn.com/special/?utm_medium=affiliate&utm_term&u…

you will get a three year deal for US $107.55

    • you do realise that you get 80% cashback off the 107.55 usd right?

      • -4

        Oh yes, of course…..
        Good luck with that.

        • It tracked perfectly fine for me, you must be unlucky though. I'll see if the funds come through in a few months though.

          • -1

@steven231: That's what happened to me.
read my post: it was shown as 'Click Activity' when I made my purchase. It just remained like that and nothing came up in the 'cashback activity'.

This may not happen to you, so wait and see.

  • Tried 3 times last night, keep getting;
"Something went wrong. This could be caused by incorrectly entered information, a processing network issue or an exceeded spending limit."

I have plenty of money in my account, looks like I wouldn't be able to get this deal.

    • +1

Same thing happened to me. There are comments in the other thread to pay via other rather than credit card. When you go to other you can enter your credit card details as you normally would. This worked for me after getting the same error messages.

      • +1

        Oh it worked!

        Thank you green frog man!
