FYI Amazon is eligible for the cashback, they just don't advertise it on their listing. See here and under eligible stores.

    • Thanks, that is good to know

  • That's pretty good. Although, many on eBay, and from Canon themselves, they are throwing in the EF adaptor. That would be the icing on the cake if you can get them to do that.

    • We're also throwing in the EF adaptor with this price!

  • As said Amazon AU is listed as one of the authorized Canon reseller, therefore they are eligible for the Canon cashback.

    Also 6% cashback from Cashreward/Shopback.

    • Thanks mate, forgot about Shopback, that makes it a pretty good deal then !

  • poor RP should RIP , Canon held on the IBIS to keep premium prices on IS lenses living a bit long. EOS sales getting a beating https://www.dpreview.com/news/3587145682/sony-a7-iii-sales-b…

people are practicing shooting landscapes handheld at 1 sec shutter speeds with Sony IBIS cameras, there is no going back.

They're moving in the right direction just like a headless dinosaur (and that's coming from a canon shooter). By the time they get their mirrorless system in a good place everyone will have moved on to something much better (maybe even mobile phones since the tech for small cameras is improving hugely).

It's unfortunate, they had (and still do have) a chance to make something amazing.

The RP and R are still very good cameras, specially with the RF lenses but the value is only really there if you already have a lot of Canon lenses/flashes/etc.

I’ve read that Canon have already moved most of their resources into their commercial sector (security, professional film etc).
I think they decided a last ‘hurrah’ in the consumer market is a waste of resources, although we are still yet to find out, they may have impressive releases up-coming.
I expect them to keep a priority on product support for the consumer market instead, as to keep what they leave behind afloat.

      • The RP and R are still very good cameras, specially with the RF lenses but the value is only really there if you already have a lot of Canon lenses/flashes/etc.

That’s the entire point though. Canon, by far, have the best lens selection and that’s not going to change any time soon. Sony are definitely catching up and have been releasing some great lenses, but Canon’s lineup is still far superior especially at the telephoto end.

    • No there is … I went back to Canon and sold all my Sony gear. I guess depends what you are shooting. Sony colours never did it for me …

      • Don't you just fix up the colours in post? I've never understood the colour thing

  • I have several Canon lens (adaptor needed) so the Amazon.com.au deal looks interesting. If Parramatta Cameras threw in an EF lens adaptor that would make their deal interesting.

However the battery life compared to a 6D is what makes me hesitate about these. Yes there are other spec differences but unless you are shooting for pro-video/stills, posters or taking lots of shots in marginal conditions, they all take good pics. I still use an EOS 550D on a regular basis and I am happy with the results, especially compared with high-end phones.
