  • If only there was Optus cashback!!!

  • A deal for the richards…

  • So nearly $1000 for the phone? Seems a lot.

    • Don't know how you get that number. The plan itself is worth $60 but for argument sake, lets say it is a $55 plan.

24 x $55 = 1320. The buy option is 79 x 24 = 1896 so you are paying $576 for the phone which $300 Cheaper than the lowest price seen in OZB.

My way of looking at thus deal is the plan is $55 and I pay $14 a month to lease a Pixel 3. Not a bad deal at all.

I am quite tempted with this deal as I am 1 week away from the 1 year recontact window, Still think the S10 is much better but the plan is not so attractive…..

      • +1

Optus had Sim only 80gb for $40.

I just went from pixel 3xl to s10e

        • First of all that deal is now gone…..

Your deal would end up cost about the same base on a 24 month calculation.

While you plan has all the feature but 20GB short compare to this $69 promo plan.
You also have to pay about $850 up front for the S10E and when you dont want it anymore, you have to go through the trouble of selling it.

For buy option I think this Optus deal is OK at best but the leasing option is just great value. Consider how little you pay for the right to use the handset.

BTW even if you calculate the costing base on that $40 sim offer (which is BYO only). Base on 24 month using buy option. The phone end up cost you 936 over the two years. It is like buying from JB with interest free credit right?

          • @syswong: I went on $40 optus 80gb sim only that gives unlimited international calls also. Total cost over 2 years is $960. Bought S10e for $820.

Total cost to me over 24 months is $1780. After this I would sell the phone for approx $400-500. So actual cost over 2 years is max $1220. So all up my deal was min $676 cheaper.

Also pixel 3? You can get P3A for much cheaper, and Pixel 4 is months away. They will be throwing these away soon. pixel 3 is last generation hardware compared to s10e. If I was going to get the pixel 3, i would get the 3a. Pixel 3 at JB was already $849 a week or two ago. So you are paying more than decent deals

@onlinepred: I bet you u sign up to Optus before this deal came along.

If you are bean counting we can go on and on, and for greedy people sure one can find a better deal if they wait long enough. My point is this is a reasonable good deal if you need lots of local data and understand the concept of phone leasing (ie the benefits of leasing).

Also your number is wrong again.

Buy option 79 x 24 = 1896 and if you say sell for $400 (which I don't think you can). Net cost for deal is 1496
By your BYO option 40 x 24 + 820 = 1780 - 400 = 1380. for $116 extra over 24 months the pixel 3 deal gets 20G more data and no upfront payment for the phone. While your BYO plan has the benefit of free IDD and roaming included. looks shoulder to shoulders to me.

The topic between the two device is even more difficult as there are people who swear by that Pixel 3 camera and its interface. While others praise the performance if the S10(s).

              • @syswong: Yea both are decent phones, I wouldn't go back to Pixel 3 after getting s10e, and probably won't go back to pixel for quite a while.

        • I'm curious as I haven't tried Google version of Android. It is better than One UI currently on your samsung S10e?

  • +1

But it is floptus, so you won't be able to use that data when you need it the most…

    • And I almost gone over my 156G limit for two months back to back….

Look granted Optus signal aren't that great. I have 8-10 towers around me with all the bands covered, and I kept sraching my head when my yourtube stop by congestion.

Have now move 1 line to Telstra on that JB P30 deal I can tell you it is not much better. However what Telstra have and Optus lacks us a usable 3.5G as backup…….

  • When are Optus going to do another family and friends deal? I got 25% off my S9

  • How is the camera function?
