TA can you explain the seemed conflict of activating in 365 days, but must be done by June 30 which is far less than 365 days?

    • +1

Really not sure, but their terms specify Service activation vs SIM activation so I can only assume they’re two different things. Best to jump on chat with Groupon once they’re online.

      • +6

Service is the Voucher/Plan; SIM card is what it is, the SIM card itself. My best guess.

        • "brongz" Correct!

        • Ah, so my free SIM card will be expired after 365 days.

      • At the end of the day, u could probably file a complaint and get them to compensate you as done before with boost sim cards unless clearly stated in writing?

    • +3

You need to use this voucher code before June 30.you can any other/old Kogan sim (if you have) for this (need not to be same sim which you receive from Groupon). Later, within 365 days, you can activate this sim (for any new service in future).

    • +2

It means the SIM card itself can be activiated within 365 days but the voucher for your 3 months usage need to activate by 30/6

      • This makes sense!

  • So is it activate by 30th June, or 365 days?

    • • Although your service must be activated by 30 Jun 2019, the SIM card itself is able to be activated after that date. However, it must be activated within 365 days of purchase (it cannot be guaranteed that it will work after this time)

      • My best interpretation is the Service means the Voucher/Plan must be activated by 30 June. The SIM card is the SIM card itself which can be activated within a year (but not the Voucher/Plan).

        • What's the point of activating the service but not activating the sim tho? What a weird condition.

          • @waterbottled: If you activating the Voucher means you have to activate the SIM card as well.

Some people maybe have spare Kogan SIM cards from previous deal with $0 and free shipping. So, the SIM card that come along with this deal doesn’t have to be activated and it can used within a year.

          • @waterbottled: Its clearly not weird… you have to use it with a sim card. Its to stop people from holding on to vouchers for longer then they want people to. Sim cards carry long exp dates so its smart for a company to do it this way. Or maybe its weird until you can understand it/accept it XD

  • NEW customers only? :-(
    How to Redeem
    • Activate your service by: 30 Jun 2019
    • Your service must be activated by 30 Jun 2019 (11.59:59pm AEDT)
    • Although your service must be activated by 30 Jun 2019, the SIM card itself is able to be activated after that date. However, it must be activated within 365 days of purchase (it cannot be guaranteed that it will work after this time)

I think it has to be activated by 30 June 2019 to receive the cashback.

    • -1

it has to be activated by 30 June 2019 for it to work.

  • What happens after 90 days does it stop and no more charges or does it rollover onto monthly plan?

This might be perfect for some overseas visitors staying in mid June up until mid August here in Sydney this year for me.

    • It will renew after 90 days if you do not turn off auto renew.

  • +2

I'm still waiting for my SIM card from the last deal. I'm not a patient man! :-[

    • Groupon is slow. They take up to three weeks. I am waiting, too.

      • +1

Thanks for the heads up. As long as I'm not the only one. Misery loves company after all :-D

    • +1

Thats why when Kogan gives out free sims, grep those first as spare

      • how to get free sims?
currently it says $2 (incl delivery)

    • Found this out of frustration as I haven't got mine as well.
      https://www.unitedpetroleum.com.au/kogan-mobile/

You can buy $2 Kogan SIM at united petrol apparently

  • New customer only, i am with kogan now, no chance…

    • port out & port in?

      • +1

Need to wait for 30days atleast for porting back

    • Grab a Lebara sim from Coles.$9 for a medium plan 30 days

      • how much data does it have? my 365 year plan is gonna expire this month and Im gonna try 3 month plan hopping

        • Same boat. A few days ago I signed up for the Catch 90 day plan with (I think) 54GB for $15 + $10 cashback on Shopback. I think they are down to $5 cashback now though. After that hop back onto one of these Kogan deals

          • @AngryAlfred: Wouldn’t these Kogan deals expire by then? Or there are always on

            • @kehuehue: Kogan run deals constantly, I wouldn't worry about one not popping up again before 90 days.

      • or voda (35 days) from 7-11

  • i ordered from the last deal but haven't signed up yet. this deal is much better. I will order this one.

    • +1

You're going to throw away the last deal you bought?

  • my existing 20gb plan just jumped to 23893.33mb …might be limtied time extra data cant confirm it though

  • Is that the jealous girlfriend from the Distracted Boyfriend meme?

Great deal as usual. Thanks TA!

  • What 3G and 4G frequency do you need on your local tower to get Kogan to work?

    • +1

The 4G frequencies that Vodafone/Kogan uses are B5/850mHz, B3/1800mHz, B1/2100mHz, but check you local tower

to see which or all frequencies are used. To take full advantage of Vodafone/Kogans full 4G network,

look for a phone that supports B5/850mHz as this will help with range/speed/indoor reception.

      • +1

If I take my phone for a drive to the next town I can get 850mHz but nothing else and nothing here. Not even 3G. No kogan for me.

        • Sure. As I live/travel in the countryside/regional, we have similar issues with all three telco depending over which hill or corner you live/drive. Have to test and use what works in your area.

      • How do i check my local tower in Sydney?

  • I am already on this deal in the Perth CBD. I was using it as an in between as I was on a telstra contract for 12 months (with a bonus JBHIFI voucher) and am looking for another telstra plan.

I find that I have some issues with Kogan reception, but overall it's a really good deal for what you pay.

  • +1

Has anybody tried transferring their number onto/off of this service? Is there a 12 month wait to transfer out once I'm in etc?

    • I've transferred from Kogan to Amaysim a month ago before my 1-year deal with kogan finished. Transfer/ Activation went smooth within 1 hour. Is it the answer you are looking for?

    • No, this is a pay as you go service. You can leave the next day if you want, but you'll forfeit the entire credit.

  • Will this work in my cellular iPad? For this price, I can’t go wrong. Also, after 90 days is it the same price again for 3 months?

    • +2

It will go back to normal price of $99.90/90 days

      • Thanks. And using it in an iPad? Will that work?

  • -2

    What network does Kogan use?

  • Hi - would this work with my laptop sim card slot? Unsure whether there is a difference between data only sims vs. mobile sims etc.

If it does, this would be great!

    • No difference, you will be able to put the sim in your laptop and use the 60GB.

      • Thank you!

  • Do I need to create a new Kogan account with new email address to bypass the new customer rule or do they class a new customer as a new number even though still using the same email address/account?

    • +4

I believe you don't need a new email address. I use the same details to sign up when I return to Kogan Mobile every 3 months or so.

  • Is a SIM card included with this or do you need to buy one separately?

    • +1

Sim is included, voucher will be in you order details at Groupon.

  • -5

you have only 20g of data per month for 3 months.

    • Yeah? Ive only used 2gb on a 35gb plan in 15 days

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

On the groupon web site, use coupon code BRANDNEW for 15% off to get the price down to $10.96.
    I just brought one. Enjoy.

    • Only applicable on the first groupon purchase

  • Clicking through cashrewards only seems to give 5% off?

  • I am currently with Kogan, can I port out and port in straight away or have to wait for a certain time to port in ? Does any one know or has done it before? TIA

  • Deal is back again?

  • Sydney Metro but still haven't received the SIM cards. Can I just buy a SIM from a store and use that instead rather than waiting?

    Thanks

    • You can, I have a stock of Kogan sims and that's what I do. Get the voucher and activate it instantaneously with my spare ones.

    • Im in the same boat. Waiting for sim and running out of data any minute. Would love to go and get the sim from woolies etc, but i dnt think any bricks and mortar stores sell Kogan sim. Or do they?

      According to Kogan website:
Kogan Mobile SIM cards can be ordered directly from Kogan.com or DickSmith.com.au.
