Dupe? Its down to $99 everywhere now, or later today. Should be free shipping direct from Optus.

  • You should also mention that its a Resistive Touchscreen (as opposed to being a Capacitive Touchscreen which most touchscreen devices now are) which is actually not a great thing to have. Also can you clarify what the hash (#) means for FM Radio?

    • +2

_# Use of the FM radio requires the Stereo corded personal handsfree headset to be attached to function as the antenna.

    • I thought is was only the apple fanbois who thought that was a big deal. You might as well say it isn't IPS.
Much bigger weaknesses are … see existing thread.

Re>> Trishool "You should also mention that its a Resistive Touchscreen (as opposed to being a Capacitive Touchscreen"

I have a couple of capacitive touchscreen devices here and the resistive screen on this device is far better!! I suggest you go out and try a V7 for a few hours then pass comment.

NOTE: I also discovered last night that after the update to 2.2 it operates as a wifi hotspot!! Very easy to setup too, works well.

This is a bargain but if you can get it from Optus online they usually do free shipping?

      • +2

Whats wrong with pointing this out. (your negative vote on their post) They didn't neg the deal, just made a comment for others to be aware of.

      • I prefers capacitive touch screens for the fact that I don't have to stab at the screen. I also know people who much prefer resistive ones - they are mostly women and use their finger nails to tap the screen, which won't work on a capacitive.

      • I have both a resistive touchscreen device and capacitive touchscreen device. I didnt neg the deal, I just pointed it out so that those who werent aware that its a resistive touchscreen device know before they purchase in case this is a deal breaker for them. Capacitive is my preference, and may be so for others. Its got nothing to do with fanboism etc, I was just trying to clarify a fact of the actual device being advertised.

    • One thing to note about resistive touchscreen is that multi-touch is not supported. It may be an issue with games which has virtual joypad on screen (directional pad in left, buttons on the right). In those games, you cannot move right and hit one of the buttons at the same time. For example, Spiderman.

I am yet to try an Optus My Tab, but I tried a few resistive touch screen devices - including an HTC device… still cannot quite get used to it.

Optus, BigW, Australia post office, Telechoice, all selling for $99 starting this week. Stock has been reported to be no problem. No reason to pay $15 more other than if you want the item so badly and it ran out of stock from the stores stated.

  • +1

yes but it is hard to get enough stock everywhere & even if you busy at day time work so better to pay & get home delivery instead of wondering here and there to check stock. It is not dupe this stock is from the diffrent seller.

  • -2

cheaper elsewhere, as per above posts and

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/45725

  • +1

$15 is fair enough for shipping. If $99 is considered a bargain at bigw. It really should be considered a bargain here. I have no problems with this one.

    • -1

      yet you didn't +.

I agree with your comments though,If you can't find stock anywhere else, this is the best bet and pretty cheap by comparison to other places than haven't marked it down yet.

      • you'll find i didnt vote positive to the other one either. This tablet isnt for me. But im sure its good for someone.

    • +2

it is not a bargain if you can get it shipped for $99 from optus.

      • Can you please provide a link?

      • +1

as it stands, you can't get it for $99 shipped from Optus. In fact, reports are that Optus Online are sticking with the $149 price tag.

You have to get off your bum and walk into any Big W / Optus / Australia Post / Telechoice store (possibly others by now) and then carry it home. If by some chance you don't live/work/travel near any of these places, then $15 shipping is perfectly reasonable.

        • Deleted
Never mind, I misread your comment.

    • Optus has $0 shipping and Big W has $7 shipping on this item.

  • I bought 3 for myself so running here & there too look for stock itz better to pay lil extra for postage n especially it is unlocked stock.so no hassle to unlock my friends so give positive votes instead of negitive.

    • Can I be your friend?

  • +1

and moreover stock everwhere is marked to be available from 1st june so no need to rush down just buy it online n feel relaxed. hahah

  • ozbargain please remove the negative votes as this is not a dupe Moreover it is an Unlocked stock.

    • +1

So this is not the prepaid version then?, with no free 3gb of data? personally i think its deserves the neg as lesser value imo

      • +1

wht those ppl will do who does not want to put Optus sim in it!!!

      • +2

        on the specs page:

        • Unlocked Optus My Tab V9
        • Optus Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband SIM
        • AC charger
        • USB cable
        • Personal hands free kit
        • 2GB microSD included

So I think it does have the data? but… meh.

    • it's free to unlock this on the internet. Again see the bigw thread. I would be very surprised if optus was supplying these to uniquemobiles factory unlocked if they are not doing the same for the other big retailers.

  • Cheaper elsewhere. Got mine today from Aus post for $99.

    • +1

not listed in APO catalog. No 3gig for 3 months?

  • +2

Free shipping for orders over $150 using the coupon code "MAYNIA2011" (coupon supposedly expires today).

    • So far so good. I want 2 or more so this one would make the best of both worlds.

  • whats it like as a video player?

    • Fairly jerky playback on higher resolution videos. You will need to keep it to 480p resolution for a decent framerate.

  • My mate got one two days before these sales, upgraded to offical 2.2, he said he tried a few players qqplayer and a few others and none of them would play back standard HDTV 350mb tv ep's without major unwatchable stuttering.

I see other devices with the same sort of specs reported to play video fine though so im unsure.

    • Moboplayer…… plays all mine fine , make sure to close open apps etc

  • +3

it will be a deal if it had free shipping

  • -1

    15 $ shipping.. no thanks

  • -1

    No deal.

  • +3

Definitely a deal if you want more than one and capitalise on the free shipping coupon, if it works. My partner picked up one last night and I was extremely impressed with it for only $99, and this is coming from an Apple fangirl! We were buying it so the kids don't wreck our iPad's, however, I might even be spending a bit of time on them. Bought two more this morning, one for each kid and another for my Mum. :)

Note, we had to get them from a different AusPost than the one last night as they are being snaffled like hotcakes which again shows this deal to be a good one if wanting more than one and it being delivered to your door for free!

EDIT - I too am vary about their not being included data, calls and sms with this unit. If these things are not included I would NOT buy this deal! I went to check and clicked on their "Live Support" which is showing as being "ONLINE" only to find it is actually not and you have to leave your details.

Canberra - I just checked Woden and no stores have any. BigW are getting 5 on Friday. I'll be getting mine online. I'll add this comment to the other post, it might save some people some time.

    • nice…at least someone from Canberra can tell me stock levels

      • Lol.
I work in Woden and really wanted one but alas… Doesn't hurt to let everyone else know IMO :P

    • Optus stores are out all over CBR too. Just confirmed that with a friend/employee.

I bought one yesterday and after a litany of laptops over the years I have to say for $99 in my hand I'm mightily impressed. I want it to travel OS with, while avoiding the burden of a laptop and with a viable browser, GPS, email, 3G and WiFi and ALSO supporting (voice) Skype this little gadget rocks. Since it has a camera (on the backside) maybe there's a way of doing Skype with video too? Any nerds our there with a clue?? Thanks in advance…. As for the resistive vs capacitive arguments raging…..YAWN!!

    • Yes, c'mon nerds, I want to know the Skype answer too!

      • Yeah, because that is totally going to get you an answer…

        • I'm a nerd too, just a different (photographic) breed. We are all beautiful :o)

        • Ugh, whatever.

          PROVIDING it has a front camera;
FIRST, check your skype settings to see if you can select a default camera.

If not, check system setting/camera settings/mods/etc. to see if you can select the system default camera.

If not, not a whole lot you can do at this point. Need to work out if it actually has a front camera first.

      • +1

If only there was some way to search the web for your answer.

        • +1

You haven't heard?! They have actually started working on this thing called a "search engine". I know right! Like, SO unbelievable they could create something like that! I cant wait until it's mass produced! I'm totally gonna get one!

          I'm going to bed…

    • I thought this thing had a VGA/0.3mp cam on the front?

      • I've heard it does, and I've also heard it doesn't. I don't know what to believe.

    • Cornucopia: I've just found this while searching the net -
      http://www.androidapps.com/tech/apps/388730-tango-voice-vide…
One of the reviews says it works without a front facing camera, so give it a shot maybe? I'll be trying as soon as I get my tab tomorrow

      • Yeah, voice only.
You might receive video but most likely won't be sending any.

        And that's not Skype either…
And where does it say it works on the ZTE V9/Optus My Tab? I can't find it anywhere.

      • CryssieJade…thank you for being nerd like. I looked at the Tango site, it's really just another Skype. Skype works fine for voice on the V9 but appears not to have any video option in the settings. I could defeat the back camera only issue just using a mirror if I could turn on video in the Skype app. Next step will the Skype help desk I guess. Have a truly androgynous day…

  • Site is showing out of stock. Better luck for everyone tomorrow with what will hopefully not be a mad rush.

  • Hi i just went today to 2 optus shops in Perth & they said stock is finished will probably get after two weeks.and i also went to big w & austpost & it was out of stock.so my friends i think this post does not deserve any negative vote.

  • Is it true that it doesn't do multi-touch?

    • Resistive touchscreen = no multitouch.

  • +3

I order, paid, thenthree days later they say they have not stock… so now everywhere else is sold out too.
