And all stores near me are now suddenly unavailable, even if I drive near them! Malvern, Holmesglen, Hawthorn, Prahran etc. However if you throw in address next door to a maccas it suddenly becomes open! So dodgy! On that fact I’m negging this deal.

    • +4

On that fact I’m negging this deal.

      You're doing it wrong.

      • +1

Yeah it won’t let me change the vote I put in last night when I thought this was a great deal!

        • You should be able to click votes, then there should be an option to revoke your vote. I just tested it and it worked for me.

    • LOL what? You drove around those suburbs just to get $20 worth of maccas?

Should have ordered to one of those addresses, parked, and intercepted the rider!

      • Nah you can just change your address to change the Maccas. You can order to any address you want.

  • Was unavailable. Now available

  • My Maccas isn't unavailable, just that every food item is. lol.

  • cheers - ordered maccas for the kids

  • 2 mins left!

  • +1

3 hot cakes, 7 hash browns, McMuffin and a strawberry thick shake. Surprise breakfast for the kids. Used 2 accounts.

Everyone had their daily calories and still food leftover.

    • +2

Everyone had their daily calories and still food leftover.

So you all just shared the thick shake?

      • +1

Kids shared. I thought this was ozbargain?

    • 3 hot cakes, 7 hash browns, McMuffin and a strawberry thick shake. Surprise breakfast for the kids.

Surely it would have been easier just to tell your kids that you don't like them very much?

  • Be handy if people posted the store that they successfully ordered from, but I guess it is a bit late now! Maybe next time we can put that in the OP description.

  • Unavailable right up unit the end - complete click bait marketing scam false advertising crap

  • +1

Useless. Was available before midnight, mysteriously unavailable during the promo period. Tried preordering and it let me add to cart but prevented checkout. Kangaroo Point, Brisbane

    • And just confirming the Kangaroo point store is now accepting orders again at 8:15am. Dodgy af.

  • It was literally a 2 min window for me. As others have said they could amend the order and the store would become unavailable. I'm in the inner East Melb suburbs.

  • yeah, can't order anything even after trying in 5 stores….

  • And now 4 mins after 8 all stores are available again!

  • Now available to order….

  • +4

Surprise surprise, after 8am and now they’re accepting order, except now I have to pay $25.95

  • +1

Order Location is too far from store

According to google maps I'm 2.1km / 3 minute drive away.

I've ordered pretty regularly from this store and never before has it told me that I'm too far away. What a complete waste of time!

edit: Available now right after the promo ended. Funny how I'm no longer too far away…

  • +6

Family member works at a store. They got no warning, had very few staff on. 12am rocks up and they got hit with 100 orders! They shut it off quite soon after.

Guess that's why noone can order.

    • +4

Yes, poor overworked staff wondering why the night shift suddenly got so busy!

And those orders would be sitting going cold with not enough drivers available to deliver.

Now there will be complaints of cold orders (beyond Maccas control) to deal with.

It was a very predictable stuff up.

That's why I prepared my order early & entered code right on midnight. Ordered from a quieter suburban store with drivers showing as available. Prepared & delivered in 10 minutes - best delivery time ever!

      • Maybe you were top of the list

        • +2

          That was precisely my plan😉
Better than waiting for ages behind 100 others for a cold burger etc.

Sometimes deals need a bit of thought to get the best outcome.

Kept the coffee frappe from the order for breakfast.

    • +1

Yeah, knowing someone else that works at a store that only employs two people after 1am, he said they had no idea why their UberEats tablet went nuts, I told him and yeah; they just had no clue about it and said it wouldn't have been physically possible for them to honour the orders so they turned it off.

Pretty poor on UberEats behalf, but I'm not surprised. They're not the nicest company to work with for restaurants. Know another business owner that makes 75% less profit after UberEats cut of a meal (compared to a direct order) and says now he only does it because people expect it, and has no real choice but to get taken for a ride.

      • -3

I'm tired of restaurateurs crying poor about the delivery service businesses. I too know people that make little money having menulog etc deliver their stuff so you know what they did? They used their own car to make deliveries to customers and offered them a discount (tiny) to order directly from them via phone or online. So they used those networks to get the word out about their place, then lured customers back over to their own delivery.

Also you can just not use them.

The attitude of just throwing your arms up in the air and pretending you are being robbed at gun point by a delivery service is really pathetic. You own the business, you have total control on how you run it.

        • -2

Also you can just not use them.

It's the place people look for food deliveries. If you are not in it you may as well not exist.

You own the business, you have total control on how you run it.

Don't be on Uber, get less orders, make even less money, close.

@spaceflight: Just whoosh on the rest of my post huh?

            • -2

@serpserpserp: The rest of your post is irrelevant to the points I made.

              But here you go

I'm tired of restaurateurs crying poor about the delivery service businesses.

They wouldn't have to if they didn't lose 35% to delivery services.

I too know people that make little money having menulog etc deliver their stuff so you know what they did? They used their own car to make deliveries to customers and offered them a discount (tiny) to order directly from them via phone or online. So they used those networks to get the word out about their place, then lured customers back over to their own delivery.

You know what they still need to offer their service on delivery apps because It's the place people look for food deliveries. If you are not in it you may as well not exist.

Also you can just not use them.

It's the place people look for food deliveries. If you are not in it you may as well not exist.

              Happy?

                @spaceflight:

Don't be on Uber, get less orders, make even less money, close.

Not at all the case. There are a few places near me (new and old) that aren't on uber eats and are still in business. Such as the business I was talking about (they were on menulog only) and they still do a trade level they are happy with.

It's the place people look for food deliveries. If you are not in it you may as well not exist.

                Massive generalization again.

  • i had my delivery to the store, met Uber driver outside, as 3km was to far, all good !

  • +2

    Bloody ridiculous
Not available at any time midnight to 8am
As soon as promo expires - available!!

    Useless coupon

  • Cheers OP :)

  • It's all over. On to the next time when maccas can get their act together.

  • Noble Park Maccas just came back online at 8.09am.

I have been taking screenshots to go back to Uber Eats.

Bad promotion but, will be pushing for a credit.

    • +1

Use a bit of common sense. With so many people ordering all at once the maccas crew would have a back log of hundreds of orders, delivery drivers wouldn't be able to keep up either. Most stores were online for a good 4 hours straight from 2am

      • +2

don't disagree with you BUT……..it wasnt just 1 or 2 stores that went offline…it was many.

Its like going into a store to buy something that on super hot special yet to find out that its out of stock as they had "limited supply", and they did advertise that this was the case.

My expectation and most peoples expectation is if you advertise free Maccas from 12am to 8am to the value of $20…..that i will get $20 of Maccas between those hours.

        • As a backlog of prepared orders built up - going cold, stores would be forced to stop new orders for UberEats.

And staff can only produce so much.

No one wants cold burgers. That just means complaints & handing out more free food to compensate.

          • @INFIDEL: i agree. Like i said above…… If you cant supply the promotion in a somewhat acceptable manner…dont go ahead with the promotion.

            • @COVID-19: Anyone should have seen in advance this was going to be a stuff up. Apparently that didn't include UberEats👎

UberEats knows approximately how many drivers would be available on a Saturday night. Apparently Maccas didn't know to employ more night staff.
That should have been taken into account & fixed before this promotion for 50k orders was ever released😱

A previous deal with $20 code for Maccas on UberEats worked fine - because it was spread over many days, not condensed to a night.

      • +6

How does common sense explain why all 6 stores around me were unavailable from 12am-8am yet all of them became available again after 8am. If there was a backlog it is amazing that all stores managed to clear their backlogs by exactly 8am.

        • exactly my point above.

        • How does common sense explain why all 6 stores around me were unavailable from 12am-8am yet all of them became available again after 8am

Because they didn't have staff working to handle the big number of orders that would come through between 12am-8am because nobody told the store they would need extra staff because nobody told the store the promotion was running.

          There's your common sense.

You saw this deal before it started, where was your common sense about pre ordering food?

          • -1

@spaceflight: The shift change at Maccas must be 8am because they decided that from 8am they have enough staff again to go back online at Uber.

            • @capslock: Even if the shift change is at 6am they still didn't have enough staff rostered to cope with hundreds of orders.

      • The predicted backlog of orders & deliveries was discussed hours before midnight.

I used common sense… To get my order fast & hot.
I prepared my order early & entered code right on midnight. Ordered from a quieter suburban store with drivers showing as available. Prepared & delivered at 12:10!

        • How do you check to see if drivers are available for the store?

          • @unfunkable: Check on Uber if available drivers are near the store. One was very close.

  • +2

Wouldn't expect anything less than a fail. Think about it they limited to 50k orders, Saturday night. We always have a problem in execution…

  • Order still pending. Nobody wants to pick it up for me lol looks like I have to make my own brekkie

  • +1

Move on, nothing to see here! Lol

  • Only went to 6am in WA?

    • Hahaha. Est strikes again. Bahahaha.
