  • They fixed the wifi problem yet?

  • +2

I doubt that they can. Technically nothing wrong with the wifi apart from the fact that some users cover the receiver when holding the tablet in landscape.

P.S. hit that reply button so that they get notified that you've replied to them :)

A member from 2018 is telling a member from 2012 that?

        • +1

hmm…sounds like you can teach an old dog a new trick ? lol… ^.^

    • How did other tablets manage to get around the problem of holding it naturally? Did they just put it in a more sensible location?

  • +1

Great deal, thanks :) Was keeping an eye out and hoping I could get cheaper than via samsung epp store - helps with extra 10% off from ebay gift cards too.

  • Good price for a beautiful device. If I didn't need an S Pen this would be perfect.

  • Thank you, I have being waiting for this combined with the woollies GC.

    • How do you use a woolies gc here on ebay? And 10% off using ebay vouchers would be ideal, but where can I get them from? Just PSA, this is the EXACT Same price I have on the Samsung EPP portal.

      • +1

Sorry what I mean is the purchased of Ebay GC at woollies where you get $10 woollies dollar for every $100 GC.

  • Will jbhifi, Officeworks, TGG or hardly normal price match this. Need this deal asap as I'm going overseas next week. Can I get GST refund at airport even if im bringing it back in to the country? Thanks fellas

    • Requires an ebay code, so highly unlikely.

  • Aw dang! Just bought one the other day at OW. I price matched to the Samsung store and got it for $604. Still good, but this is better. Good find OP.

  • Is this worth getting to fulfil my doodling hobby? I have been drawing on my Note 9 and on a Wacom Intuos Draw but always felt like getting a proper tablet. iPad Pro is great but it's sooooo expensive :(

    • No spen on this one, you'll need the Tab S4

    • You might have to check it more closely, but based off the Apple website all current iPads have pencil support - https://www.apple.com/au/ipad/ . Some support the 1st generation pencil, while others support the second generation. JB Hifi's around me have display models with pencils so you can play around if you haven't had a chance yet. iPad Air if it suits your needs retails for $470. Pencil is an additional $145-$199 depending on which one you need: https://www.apple.com/au/apple-pencil/select/

      • The S-Pen is better than the Apple Pencil I believe.

    • This doesn't have any proper active stylus support. You'd be much happier with one of the new entry-level (6th-gen) $469 ($439 with edu) iPad's and an Apple Pencil (~$145/$129 edu). Love mine - accuracy of the pencil is amazing.

      • Because people don't won't the Apple restriction, and they want the ability to add a MicroSD.

        • +1

Wasn't arguing software (even though iOS is the objectively better tablet OS with far better app support, especially for drawing use). I haven't found myself missing MicroSD support… What restrictions on iOS are likely to affect a general tablet user?

The S5e can't be used as a proper drawing tablet with its lack of stylus support and other reasonably priced Android tablets such as the Tab A (Snapdragon 450) that support a stylus are very underpowered.

        • Considering that the pencil itself is an extra $145-200, you may as well get an entry level Tab S4 for around the same or less on special, which includes the s-pen.

What restrictions on iOS are likely to affect a general tablet user?

I can't speak for everyone, but I like an open OS where the OS maker doesn't tell me what I'm not allowed to do, and restricts apps from sharing data with each other. I like having widgets on my home screen, and not needing to go to the settings app every time I want to adjust bluetooth/wifi settings. And being able to plug the thing into my computer for easy file transfer. I also like having a file manager (a real one) and USB storage.

These aren't doodle specific needs, but tablet specific needs.

          • @lostn: For most tablet users there isn't much care about widgets (iOS does have widgets), going into settings to change WiFi and transferring files over USB often. The Tab S4's S-pen is just not comparable, performance-wise, to the Apple Pencil and app support for drawing on Android is lacking in comparison.

I much prefer Android as a phone OS, but imo, the overall experience/refinement just isn't there with Android tablets.

    • See my comment above for an 8 inch with S Pen (Tab A, 2019)

  • the deal is no longer available

  • how this compare to an ipad pro 10.5 and ipad air 2019 in spec?
    the price is same ballpark

    • The iPads are more powerful.

Main differences are aspect ratio and OS, which are personal preferences. The S5e also has an OLED screen which iPads don't have.

Depends what you are doing with it. For watching movies, I prefer a wide screen tab with OLED.

For reading, there's nothing wrong with 4:3.

  • I bought a S5e. It's a very good device, but I absolutely hate the wobbling effect that happens in portrait mode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQjmzOjCzCE (not my video, but shows the problem)

To be fair however, my computer monitor displays the exact same problem when used in portrait mode - and that's an IPS display. I'm not sure if what I am experiencing is just the refresh rate of the display not being quick enough or if something software related isn't doing it's job well enough. I question if it's software because my iPad Mini 4 doesn't experience this problem.

    • When you say wobble, do you mean the delay between the gesture and the screen response?

      • Perhaps this is the video I should have used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzjBZAs4EJg

The screen responds but not all at the same time, there's a noticeable delay. Reading text or images while scrolling even a little bit makes it very noticeable to me.
It's like one side is chasing the other rather than updating quickly.

        (In portrait mode)

        • I know that wabble…

That's the one in Galaxy Fold as well.

It's concerning to see it in multiple products from the same manufacturer.

          EDIT: thanks for sharing.

Probably pulled by Bing Lee cause they forgot to Jack the price up

    • Was priced exactly the same as the 64GB and 4GB RAM model.
No doubt a pricing error (as this is cheaper than through Samsung's EPP by about $50)

Hopefully Bing Lee will honor it for all those that managed to get one.
Would have probably also upgraded from my Nvidia Shield but unfortunately too many bills coming my way at the moment.

      • +1

When I bought prior to posting the deal here, when I looked to see how many units were available - it was flagged "limited units available".

You're probably right a mistake by their weekend staff somewhere down the line.

        • Damn - I just bought a keyboard cover to go with this ! Hope it is not an error and cancelled :/

        • Their own website has the same price today, would they have automation between both sites, for pricing updates? Or the same mistake made twice??
          https://www.binglee.com.au/samsung-sm-t720nzslxsa-galaxy-tab… $649

  • The only thing I don't let about this tablet is the fact that it doesn't have a headphone jack.

    • Not good for flights then

      • +1

You can get USB-C to headphone adapters for like <$10 from Aliexpress.

        • +1

Be careful with this. Not all adapters work with every device. There's no universal standard for USB C to 3.5mm adapters.

      • Bluetooth headphones.

    • +6

Does come with a usbc to headphones dongle in the box. And if you've spent any time on OZB, you'll have 15 pairs of qc35, or mhx….

      • Good to know :)

    • In my history of mobile type "devices", I've almost never used the 3.5mm jack on any of my Tablets - mobile phone different story, I could never go without it!

      • What do you do? Use the on board speakers?

        Or BT audio?

        • Mostly Cast to TV / Chromecast (with the Home Theatre for sound), otherwise yes On-board speakers.

My tablets are mainly used on the couch, I don't commute or fly with them.

    2 popped back into stock and I just panic-bought 1 :D

    1 left be quick!

  • dam missed out.

Seems to be best value 10inch tabs ATM.

    • +1

Keep an eye on it, their own website still showing stock, so maybe a few more will pop up on ebay tomorrow…

  • Got a "receipt" emailed directly by BL - but not sent out (yet?).

    • Same here, BL normally takes their time.

      • +1

eBay listing says "Will usually send within 2 business days of receiving cleared payment."

Only 1 business day has passed since this all started on the weekend, so hopefully shipping today / tomorrow at the latest!

        • Still nothing, but am hopeful!

  • Despatched at 9:30 this morning 😁

    • Bah - they must be shipping mine my big long distance carrier pidgeon/camel - no update yet !
