Shhhhh.. no one was supposed to figure that out.

    • They haven't told me yet. So mine hasn't be cancelled.

  • -1

smh, who has taken to twitter about this. idk if we can link tweets here but should sus some of the people on the optus twitter page

    • +5

Read SMH as Sydney Morning Herald and started looking for news coverage. Publicity is the only way anyone gets a phone out of this.

  • +11

Everyone calling optus like "since i told you about the price error can you process my 10 phones" 😂😂

  • +1

Well its 5pm. Startrack is worse than auspost.

    Troll…..

    • startrack is owned by auspost

      • -1

        That explains why 😂

        • -1

But the previous CEO was on millions dollars salary

  • +13

    Still no order cancellation email?

If I was Optus, I'd ship out boxes with a single piece of paper in it saying "ha ha" :D

    • +3

Or a package with a razor blade in it

      • +2

Saying "kill yourself, ha ha" :D

      • Oh, that would be a good one.

  • +1

Hey guys, anyone heard from Optus yet?

    • +5

Not yet. No news is good news, right?

  • +6

I think they’re still sitting at the office and thinking about what to do next 😂

    • 🤔

    • +3

More likely they're still at the office yelling at whoever stuffed this up.

    • +18

Nah,,, they must be busy with the packing

  • +16

to your local optus store with pitch forks & torches & uneaten tubs of ben & jerrys!

    • Ben and Jerrys is 12,000 times more than what i paid for that phone. Who has that kind of dough?

  • +1

Is there any legal requirment (time frame) by which Optus need to cancel the order or this will become binding?

  • Merged from Optus Razer Phone Order Cancellation

Is there any timeframe by which Optus need to cancel all the Razer phone orders before it becomes legally binding to provide the phone.
Some one commented that they need to cancel by COB today.

    • +16

They're taking their time with cancellations so they can accrue interest with the payments.

      • Freaking max 10 bucks in total, what interest is it.
Although wonder if companies specially do that to gain interest free loan

    • I doubt anyone will get one it's clearly a price error it'll probably be finalised tomorrow COB

    • +6

No because in contract law a webstore listing is classified as an invitation to treat and giving them money counts as an offer

    • +8

Some one commented that they need to cancel by COB today.

      Some keyboard lawyer?

Price errors aren't legally binding. People need to stop being so entitled and expecting compensation for everything.

    • +4

probably going to hold the payment till 1st july, so they can claim a loss and reduce their tax bill.

July 1: SingTel shareholder announcement: "It was our biggest June ever, with Optus selling over 10,000 extra units!"
July 2: "Unfortunately due to pricing error, your order has been cancelled and your $0.01 refunded".

        • And extra 30,000 clicks to Optus website.

  • I'm waiting for fakenews messages that they have been delivered.

    • Almost tempted to order one so I can take photos of unboxing it :-)

    My order has been ……….

We will also have an exclusive preview of jv's shocking reaction when she gets the news of the status of the optus 1c order

    • +2

      jv's a she? now that's shocking

      • Lol! Wondering the same.

      • +2

        he's not.

        • How do you know?

          • @ilovefullprice: doesn't take a genius to work it out from all his comments and posts. a lot of weirdos on ozbargain wishing he was though.

          • +1

            @ilovefullprice: jv’s 55+ comment from March 2017 references a wife and family. Same-sex marriage wasn’t legalised until December 2017.

            • @muncan: Wasnt legal in Australia. May have been legally married elsewhere, or may just have chosen to refer to their partner as wife. My sister quite often referred to her partner as her husband long before they were ever married.

                Clutch harder at straws lol

            • @muncan: Wow jv has a spouse!!!

      • Lol. No

  • so why is optus selling it for $300 more than jb hi fi and expect people to pay for it? They mad?

  • I think I OzBargain too much… just got an email from Toll Priority saying a shipment has been sent… I can't for the life of me remember what it could be other than the bloody Razer phone.

    Maybe I'm going mad.

    • +1

It could be spam, so be careful if you have to click to open any links or attachments.

I received one for PayPal on a transaction I didn’t make. Checked my PayPal account and it wasn’t there. The email looks really convincing.

      • Has a tracking number which goes to their legit website.

Can't wait for my mystery package!

        • Interesting development: According to some Yes Crowd forums, Optus has a warehouse at Yennora where my mystery package originated… the plot thickens.

    • +6

      Optus normally uses Startrack.

      • My story below proves optus also uses toll ;-)

      • They've used Toll in this case.

    • +1

      Prob something from Amazon

    • +2

You got your order number in the confirmation email and the Optus branded Startrack link, you know it's not the phone.

      Stop trolling.

      • Not trolling big fella - I'm Tolling.

    • +2

I also just got a text message from toll. I also have no idea what I bought other than the razer phone. No word of a lie.
The text message didn't come with a link.. But it came with a tracking number. So I copied the tracking number and posted it into the toll website. Apparently my package is coming from Bankstown. FYI, I am definitely not trolling about this.

I hope it's not a bloody cheque for 0.01c..it will be too embarrassing to take to the bank. Lol

      • You cracked me up :)

      • +1

It's light - 0.1kg according to my email, so it might be a friggen cheque 😂

        • Mine is also the same size/weight. But the weird thing is, I got an email in my other email account.. I didn't sign up for the phone through the email account the toll notification came to.

      • +2

Got my parcel! It was from optus! However, it was a reply paid envelope for the optus mini fetch box I have to return! Can you imagine the feeling I got when I opened up the envelope to find an envelope, and not a Razer? :-(

        • HAHA amazing, I did also cancel my Fetch Mini last week. What a crack up.

          • @thrillho: So I'm assuming your parcel was the exact same thing then? Lol

This is their CEO said once: “The customer is why we exist. If you make customers unhappy, you will be sacked," Mr Lew told employees, according to a staff member at the meeting.

I think all of orders will be honoured as Optus wants customers to be happy! They do not want OZBers upset of such “tiny” error.

    • +1

The above post belongs to the "fiction category" ;D

    • -2

Correction: That was Gerry Harvey who said that

    • In that case the staff member who made the pricing error should get a promotion!

      • You do realise that poor person is probably someone off shore with little understanding of the English language and worse typing skills than Homer Simpson!

  • +6

Already got my 1c worth reading all these comments haha

  • Went to put a Razer phone in my cart to see if I clicked through any applicable T's and C's whilst purchasing, they seem to have removed the ability to pay with card, only Afterpay and PayPal are listed.

    • +2

I usually don't condone it, but probably wise to use afterpay on such a large purchase.

    • +3

They can't "claw back" any money, but they are perfectly within their legal rights to cancel the sale and refund you the price you paid.

The listing of the phone was an "offer to treat".
You purchasing the phone and paying 1c was "acceptance" of the offer.
The "consideration" bit, which is them supplying the goods to you, is the point where the transaction is considered legally complete and binding.

That last bit is the thing that will work in their favour.

I understand your excitement at getting a free phone, but don't kid yourself. The only chance anyone has of receiving this is if Optus mistakenly send some units out among the confusion. It has happenef before, but the chances are very slim.

      • +2

Yep that's true. I shake my head at those people who think that when they've made the order that they've "got it". It was only an offer to treat which is non legally binding and the order can be cancelled at any time. The only time you get it is when it's either being delivered to you or you've picked it up from the store.

    • Says gatkid the supreme court judge…

  • No update on tracking order

  • +6

The fact that they're taking so long to respond to this is a clear indication that they are working hard to fulfill the orders.

    • +1

That's no clear indication. I would say that they are waiting for instructions from higher up in headquarters before going ahead with order cancellations. I would not be thinking that you will be getting this.

    • +6

      Keep dreaming.

  • +13

Did you bozos really think you were getting a phone from Optus (the tightest company around) for 1 cent? lol.

The entitled keyboard warriors make this hilarious

    • +4

Yep it happens every single time with a deal that's too good to be true such as this. They keep on dreaming.

      • +2

Mostly are newbies new members who thought they will always find bargains on ozb and ozb is all about saving money and asking help without spend any effort and then complaining alot when something not right happens..

  • But hey anyone work in Optus here? Is it that hard to compose apologies email and cancelling order? Takes 1 full day? Seriously? Or because we flooded their system so now they just laughing and keep our 1c for weeks?

    • They likely have thousands of orders, it would take a day at least to sort and filter the orders.

      • +1

Don't think they sell any other item for $0.01.. they can simply apply filter with 0.01 price and bulk process all these requests for shipping.

  • +4

I managed to order one and paid by PayPal. It had been pending but today they already charged me 1 cent. So I am guessing they won’t cancel my order anymore 🙄

      Same here, some hope right?

    • That's not how credit / debit card transactions work haha

But won an iphone XS, just have to click the link to collect.
I'm so happy, i saved liked infinity plus or something. Maths is hard.

    So lucky haha

  • +2

Guys to be honest, If they cancelled it, they’d have done it by now. I think they’re getting some legal advice or something for the best interest of the company. I’m not saying they won’t cancel the orders but there is something going on..
seriously isn’t there anyone here who works for Optus? Or anyone really contacted them? I don’t wanna, cause I don’t wanna jinx it 😂
