Worth it just for the Wii remote alone (presuming you get an official).

    • +4

      And it's a plus version.

      • +11

you'd almost say it was wiily worth it………. im gonna stop

      • Listing doesn't mention Wii Motion Plus?

        • +1

I think Elijha meant that it would be EXTRA worth it if you happened to get a Wii MotionPlus controller. I have bought a lot of these and sometimes you do get a MotionPlus controller (I actually got a Yoshi one recently), and similarly you sometimes get a third party one.

    • Not necessarily. I got one last year and it was generic. It was still ok, but I returned it because I didn't really like the Wii itself.

    • What can the wii remote be used for other than the Wii?

      • +4

Lot's of things… I don't know that anyone is using them for much anymore, but they were being used in makeshift Smartboard setups. They will work on PC's for emulators and can be used for gun games etc.

      • +2

Wii U or connect to computer/laptop via bluetooth.

Head tracking. It is awesome for racing sims along with triple monitors. I used Freetrack, but there are many other options now.

    • 2x this one or the PS Classic?

      • +10

I'm assuming then you'd be using either one for old school emulation.

Wii is leaps and bounds ahead of the PS1 mini in that regard, with support for 1:1 hardware playback of Game Cube games, something no device other than the Wii U can offer, it's a no brainer for me.

        • Thanks. Can I emulate SNES and PS games on Wii?

        • Eh PC is best of course, even for gamecube (Dolphin on PC is better than original hardware for 98% of the games anyone would actually play).

  • cheers OP . Grabbed one.

  • I bought one of these for $30 via EB and it lasted maybe 3 months and then would not boot.. Boat Anchor.. So no guarantees here.

    • Agree, I bought the PS3 from EB in the past and paid $125 that only lasted 6 months, whilst the original one I have since 2007 still going strong even now. Won't be doing that again.

    • I still can't believe the price. Has any console ever been this cheap?! Refurb or not. I literally don't believe it.

      • How can you 'literally' not believe it?

Why do people use 'literally' in almost every sentence?

    • +3

I bought a preowned fat PS3 from EB around 2012 and it died within a month.

I bought a Wii U preowned in the last deal as well just to keep as a back up and the thing was so damn grotty and disgusting, the screen on the tablet had literal cuts in it, I just returned it to my nearest store a couple days later after pondering if I really needed it. Only silver lining is it cost 78 or so, but the receipt said 99 and they refunded me the full 99.

      • +1

        Lolz you made a profit!

  • +6

Great price, though you might want to get a Wii U instead since it’s backwards compatible with all Wii games anyway

    • Wii is the last console to do 240p output. So it's better than the Wii U in that regard.

      • -1

The WiiU can also do 240p output if you use the same cables.

        • -1

It can't. I've got multiple WiiUs.

  • +3

is it a white wii? which is hackable to play ISOs?

    • +5

All are hackable except the Wii mini

    • It's not just the white one which can be soft-modded.

      • Can you download the games? I got one of these a year or two back, but when I went to download games there weren't many around, most torrents were dead. It's just been sitting on a shelf.

        • +2

Plenty of places have them on file sharing websites. You just have to look harder.

          • @Munki: I'll have to plug ours back in and try to find more games. only about 4 more years until out son can play games on it.

            • +3

@macrocephalic: Started my son on Mario Kart around age 4. Didn't take him long to start beating mum. :)

              • +11

@Munki: Losing at Mario Kart is no excuse for domestic violence.

                • @ssquid: I'm not the one beating her, so it's OK.

              • -1

@Munki: He shouldn't beat women. Australia says no.

                • @guitarit: Hey don't tell my son what to do. That's my privilege as a parent!

    • My black one can do that.

My plan to sell my Wii when they become a collectors item isn’t going very well.

    • Yeah, we have an excellent wii emulator which runs on phones, tablets and pcs, and the wiiU can run wii games natively with digital audio+video (hdmi) out.
With earlier consoles, the N64 still doesn't have good emulation, and there's more nostalgia for the cartridge-based media.

    • +1

only if its the red one

    • My soul crushing reminder I was foolish to buy 2 WODES, save on postage (or similar reason)…."knowing" friends/family would snap it up fast.

And had to pull previous chip to install WODE… And can't remember getting it running.

      /too soon

  • +11

If anyone is wondering if there’s any upcoming games, there is one. Just Dance 2020 releases in November

    • +6

      So hyped.

    • Even got FIFA 15, that shit didn't even make it to the Wii U.

  • +2

So so tempting….so many games/consoles, never enough time

    • +11

Huh? I thought you froze yourself 2-weeks before the wii came out, and got one in the future…

      • +1

        Lol, I'll respect your authoritie

  • +2

Rather spend the extra and get the Wii U

    • How much extra?

      • My local cash converters sells the wii u for $75

  • +2

Another option is Cash Converters if you have one nearby, they are commonly $15-$20 with the same inclusions. Just another option if someone wants one today.
90 day warranty also from memory.

Picked one up for $19 in 2017 and it still works well.

    • Yeah I remember seeing shelves of Wii's lined up at Cashies around the time of the WiiU

    • Yeah warranty varies depends on the store, some 90 some 30, either way still a pretty decent place to go check out for some cheap game stuff.

    • Salvo's are another source.

  • Don't need one but great price!

  • Wii also taps into Nintendo's unrivaled legacy of great games with the Virtual Console. Connecting via wireless broadband to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, Wii owners will be able to spend Virtual Console points to download selected classic games from NES, Super NES and N64 video game consoles. And through Wii Connect24, owners will be able to access even more content. Four-player compatibility as well as the ability to compete with other Wii players over broadband internet means that Wii offers a true social experience.

I can’t wait to try out all of these online features!

    • +11

      Do we tell him?

      • +10

        I think he knows.

        • Can I redownload games I bought that are tied to my account if I bought another Wii or are the online servers dead dead?

    • -1

tbh I would argue you should be able to return the console under the grounds of false advertising if you decided you didn't want it anymore. VC was one of the best features of the Wii and it's gone now. If it was still available, and if I didn't have a Wii U and Switch, I'd probably actually pick one up for 20 odd bucks just to (profanity) around with some of those games, so honestly, considering the reputation the Virtual Console has, I mean, it's not crazy believe someone would buy a Wii solely for that online store.

      • for Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (WFC) part, there is alternative worth checking (https://wiimmfi.de/)

  • Remind me I have a Wii collecting dust. Anyone know can I still trade in at EB maybe for a game?

    • +5

If you don't want it, dust if off, clean the controllers, take some nice photos, and sell it on gumtree.

      • +1

        I like nice photos!

      • Sounds good. I did sell something on gumtree. Just never thought anyone might still interested in the old Wii. Will try anyway.

  • +3

Got mine at the same price last yr, very very easy to mod it and download the game from the internet

love the shooting guns game such as House of the Dead, Dead Squad etc

    • No no no. I think you mean Spirit Squad

      • +2

No no no. I think you mean Ghost Squad.

  • I just purchased a second hand Wii U Deluxe from the EB Games post and am now in the process of setting up homebrew.

If I want to run Wii, Gamecube or N64 games on the Wii U will I need controllers such as this one? Is this a good price for a second hand controller?

    Thanks in advance!

    • +4

You need a Wii remote to play Wii games. If you install the homebrew on vWii, you'll also need the Wii remote for any emulated games. If you're injecting GameCube/N64 games on the Wii U side, I don't think you need the Wii remote.

    • +1

It's not a good price for a 2ndhand controller but the Wii has the advantage over Wii U by incorporating Gamecube ports and GC mem card slots. You can't lose really…

  • what are the chances you get a red wii istead of the usual white?

    • +3

      42

    • I've bought about 30 Wiis from EB Games, and one red one so far

      • +3

        1 in 30 it is.

        • No, it's about 1 in 30 ;)

      • +1

Why did you buy so many Wiis

        • so he/she can sell it… or help collecting dust ?

        • I assume they are modding them and then selling them to people who don't want to mod it themselves.

    • +3

Depends if you have been eating a lot of beetroot.

    • +1

      Is the red one faster?

    • Why you want a red? like buying an undies?

      • +2

you wear it outside to turn into superman …

  • if i want to play wii fit, better get the wii or wii U?

    any advise, bargainers?

    thanks and happy friday
