You can also ask for a free card from any HN staff member too. They usually have 50 and 300 cards.

Also, if you buy product care you also get 150 free prints. I love product care because it's new for old replacement or the money you spent in store credit and covers wear and tear.

So I claim it on EVERYTHING before it expires. Like my TV, I'll claim wear and tear before the 4 years expires, they don't make that model anymore so they have to give me $3600 store credit. buy the product care again for $200, New tv every 4 years for $200.

    • +2

How do you claim wear and tear on a tv

      • -5

        It's wear and tear.

Imagine opening a brand new tv, imagine what that looks like. Then imagine what it looks like in 4 years, or two years. You're going to maybe get a light scratch from cleaning it, or dust, or perhaps the TV just might not be as fast as what it was when brand new.

That's wear and tear and product care covers that. Of course it covers if it breaks etc.

It does give an option for repair too but no one ever picks that option, they'll just give you store credit and buy the latest model.

With smart TVs it's too easy to claim, just claim it's more laggy and the processor isn't going as fast anymore due to wear and tare.

… what's your success rate for this?

Have any receipts to show that it works?

          • +19

@[Deactivated]: Sounds like he might just work at Harvey Norman and he is trying to make product care sound good. I have heard from multiple people that they have struggled to get anything out of their product care, even with something as small as a dead HDD in a laptop.

            • +3

@XVX: Old mate shelled out extra for product care on a pair of expensive headphones. Nek minnet the ear padding flogged out in less than a year… product care didn't cover it apparently.

              • @jsilbz: It wouldn't, as product care kicks in after the manufacturers warranty.

Headphones would have a 2 year warranty being electrical.

This is why he wouldn't have been covered yet.

            • +4

@XVX: Based on his old comments he has worked for HN previously.

              • @Slo20: Haha who would have guessed? I have a mate who works for Harvey Norman and he told me that they push product care so hard because they get good bonuses and commission for it and their management hounds it into them that they have to push it.

          • -5

@[Deactivated]: 100% success rate but so far I've only claimed an iron and my Yamaha soundbar which was $1100. My tv was only purchased in 2016.
I only have current receipts for the products I have purchased with product care.

You do get a piece of paper once the claim has been filled but you sign that in store and they keep it. Says brightside on it and the store credit. Once you've made a claim the product care is deemed filled.

Keep in mind though, it can be extremely expensive depending on the product you buy.. they wanted like $600 for a MacBook.

Not sure how they make money on it if you know how to play the system.

I have mates who work at HN who told me about it and have done it ever since, they do it too.

You can read more here if you don't believe me.

@neofelis: Meh, sounds like an expensive gamble. Probably better odds at the roulette table.

"Assessments are handled by Our Customer Care team, and all freight fees to transport the Product for assessment are covered if an Eligible Fault is found. If an Eligible Fault is not found, You may be liable for those freight fees and assessment costs."
              Yikes.
Also, it only covers faults. A scratch on a TV isn't a fault ("superficial or cosmetic", per the terms and conditions). A fault from wear and tear could be a broken power button from repeated presses, not a cosmetic mark.

If I was to throw the dice with this protection, I'd intentionally subject electronics to "environmental factors" that will guarantee "internal overheating" ;)

            • @neofelis: Did your mates process your claims?

              • -1

@Entheogen: If the product is under $400 it's instant replacement. Otherwise it takes around 3 days for the claim.

I was really only trying to help the community with this info as it's great. But as others have said it can be a gamble, like insurance is with a new for old replacement. I'm sure if people had an issue with this then they're the type not to have car insurance or home insurance because of the 'terms and conditions'

        • I'll have to remember this when my washing machine is a couple years older, I have product care for that. Thanks.

    • +1

If this works its pretty revolutionary.

    • +2

      Whoever believes this…

      • -1

        Ahh.. https://www.productcareclaims.com/asset/media/180912_COMPUTE…

        It's all here for you.

That even contains 150 free prints for everyone with the coupons. Enjoy.

        • +1

Did you read the Terms and Conditions? :/

          • @[Deactivated]: Yep, sure did. Which is why I've had 100% success rate.

But anyway, I know everyone else around me uses it and we get new appliances and updated models of everything.

Your loss if you don't use it.

You just claim wear and tear and environmental factors. Claim granted.

They do something else called flexirent which covers loss and damage too. Something for everyone I guess!

            • @neofelis: The sad thing about your posts is you are getting negged because People don’t believe you that it will work, not because what your suggesting is extremely unethical.

    • yeah right, good luck with this. Make sure you read the fine print. :-)

  • How is the print quality for Matt printing?

    • +20

No idea. You've got to ask him.

  • Wow thanks op

  • Last time this promo ran a couple months ago my partner and myself both had multiple lots of 50 photos printed just using a different email. I guess you could really abuse it using gmail address with dots in different places as per other deals in the past.

  • I tried to apply this but it wouldn't seem to apply the code. Any ideas?

    • I just used the App and applied the code at Promotion and got the $5 off

      • I can't read properly,I missed the part about next day prints! Got it now thank you.

  • +1

thanks for the reminder, still have to pick up the last lot of 50 free pics lol

  • My photos are taking forever to upload. Been almost 30 minutes

    • RAW images from an SLR/mirrorless?

      • Professional Photos from SLR

  • Hasn't worked for me. Says invalid. entered code incorrectly or the code is not yet active or code has expired. Also tried regeristng as +1 email address and says pt in valid email address. Used another gmail account no luck.

  • What's the best way to transfer the photo? Do we have to save the photos to our phone? Cause most of them are on my computer.

    • +1

Use a USB cable if you're using Android. Use Google Drive or another cloud storage service if you're using iOS.

    • Use the web version via browser on you computer to upload images to you HN photos account. You'll then be able to see the album when you login via mobile app.

  • +1

How safe it is to print personal photos (like personal beach photos)?

    • +6

Only the print operator, the cashier, the rest of the staff, and manager will know ;)

      • hahaha are you sure? I think you forgot to mention, friends and family of those mentioned as well.

    • How personal… because I wouldn't be printing your latest trip to Cap d'Agde that's for sure!

  • Sorry for the dumb question as I am not that tech savvy. I have downloaded app, I use google photos, I cant see how to upload them to the site. Hope someone can help. Thanks

  • Now everyone needs to get a nice photo album. Big W have some nice ones. Also don't forget to label the back. No wonder why no one prints anymore. Its too much hard work.

  • Do you get an email notifying you when they're ready for pickup?

Ordered yesterday at 7am and have received nothing.

    • I ordered earlier today too. Can you update us on whether you have to call or anything to see when it's ready for pickup or if they expect you to show up in 24 hours.. thanks

      • If you have mobile number you'll get a text. Check order status in your account that it's printed. The staff at the printers are very slack. Just call shop in the end, but needs to be next day.

    • last deal I ordered. didn't get any notification. walk-in to store after 1 week. Photo was ready to collect

    • Called the store and they confirmed that it will be ready after 1 day. No need to call them. Pretty sure you can see the status of your order on the app too.

  • +1

Do all 50 have to be done in one transaction?

    • pretty sure that would be the case, haven't tried though

    • Yes. You can only put the code once.

  • If im a new member.

Hn website says i can only claim I can first free 15 print.

And then i can still claim the 50 free print if I use mobile app?

  • Hoecome the code doesnt work?
