The F.E.A.R series has garnered very high review scores and for this weekend, steam is having a 50% off sale for the bundled collection in anticipation of the new game in the series, F.E.A.R 3 (not included in sale).

    I think FEAR is more interesting. $10 from the steam store for 1 and 2.
    L4D2 has been on sale for many times at this price.

      Haha, I just posted that deal too.

      For sheer horror & shock value, story, and 'unconventionalness', I would agree with you.

      I haven't played FEAR 2's multi-player yet but Left 4 Dead 2 is all about the multi-player and the high level of teamwork and cooperation needed among the 4 players per side to win seems unmatched by any other game that I know of.

      So yeah, for a cinematic single-player experience, go for the F.E.A.R series.

      For a deeply multi-player game where each player really depends on his/her teammates, go for L4D, IMHO.

      call scripted events happening once every so often (that do nothing to you), interesting?

      At one point I was scared a little in game, with those invisible guys, once their patterns were clear however it was just back to mediocre FPS… meh ive heard of people scared of f.e.a.r., but i could see through after the first 30 seconds… scarey is when your actual progression is in danger

      of course L4D2 might not be much better either way

    IMO you are better off buying L4D2 through the US Steam site (not sure on price). The Australian censored version is crap.

        Hey samfisher I feel like we have agreed before on the preciousness of our steam accounts (on a deal from one of those somewhat dodgy CD key websites) but I didn't have any qualms about buying through the US site - at least it is a legit version.

          It's in Russian initially but once you overwrite the files with the English version, it's English thereafter no matter the updates. First Strike DLC also works fine.

    Is anyone keen on buying a copy from a 4-pack who is with Commonwealth Bank? Its the only option for me currently.
    It'll be $5 AUD a copy.

    IT WILL BE A US (UNCENSORED) COPY!

    I can CONFIRM that the VPN does WORK.

    While I was unable to get it to work via the US store, it did work via the UK store (and UK vpn) http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=uk

      I already have the censored version installed on my pc, but created a new account and bought the uncensored version with it. The fact that I have the censored version wouldn't interfere right?

        If it is on a separate account, I don't believe it would, no. The only thing I could think of is it might consider it already installed, but uninstalling the censored version should fix that.

      Anonymity network does work! But VPNs seem to only work through UK Steam.

      You could try Hotspot Shield - which has also been confirmed to work.

          I'm not too sure how Hotspot Shield works, as I have not used it. However, if your IP has changed, it should mean it's working.

          As long as your connected to a UK VPN (whatsmyip will tell you your location) you can go to the UK Steam site. http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=uk
          From there simply add the game to your cart and when you go to purchase it, enter all your details the same but change the following:
          State: W12
          Postcode: 7TQ
          Country: United Kingdom

          And you're good to go and ready to enjoy your gore filled L4D2 :)

    I buy from the US and UK Steam sites myself without the use of a VPN. I have an ANZ VISA debit card and it works fine. I'd like to know if anyone else has success doing this:

    Step 1. Delete all saved payment info on your Steam account
    Step 2. Close Steam client (if open)
    Step 3. Clear internet browser cache and history then close/re-open your browser
    Step 4. Visit UK Steam (store.steampowered.com/?cc=uk) or US Steam (store.steampowered.com/?cc=us)
    Step 5. Add desired game to cart and choose "Purchase for myself"
    Step 6. Login with your Steam account
    Step 7. Fill out the payment & billing information with your normal payment & address details. Detick "Save my payment information so checkout is easy next time"
    NOTE: If buying from UK store choose United Kingdom from the country drop-down menu
    NOTE: If buying from US store choose United States from the country drop-down menu, select MN for the State/Province and use 58513 for the ZIP/Postal code
    Step 8. Press the green "Continue" button

      I don't think so. I have been doing this for at least 1 and a half years and I don't believe the banks actually look at what billing address you use for purchases.

    The first game is undoubtedly genius, and received unanimous praise, but the rest is rehashed garbage.

    Just want to clear a few things up

    If you buy from the US Steam Store and Steam thinks you are committing fraud, you can get your account disabled etc, it has happened before.

    Many people manage to buy from the US store from Australia without issues, its just that certain credit cards in combination with fake US address's and the VPN have caused problems in the past

    Also be aware that any games you gift to can also have problems.

    The actual act of buying US games or receiving them as gifts is fine on its own, a real person in the US won't have any issues gifting to us.

    Basically my suggestion is, if you know somebody who has not had any issues buying from the US Store, get them to gift it to you, that way you can be quite sure there won't be any problems.
