  • None available sunshine coast qld… Tried 3 stores myself & left my number with lady at service desk. She just called and said none available.

    • So just rang back the Noosa store, followed TA comment above & looks like that's how you get around stock shortage/issue. So saves $8 after buying sim… Add the 5% saving from using suncorp rewards egift card = approx $15 saving.

    • +1

I bought one 3 hours ago at Coles Sippy Downs and they had plenty of $2 sims left. They also have $2 sims available in the Woolworths petrol station if you didn’t mind the extra $2 and need one urgently.

      • You have to scan the $2 SIM and select the $150 recharge in the SAME transaction to get the discounted price at Coles

  • "So saves $8 after buying sim… " HOW?

    • +1

$2 SIM is free. $140 is the total price.

      • Total Save is $12, $10 discount + $2 Sim. Printed at the bottom of docket.

Bought from World Sqr Coles. But sadly, no little shop 2 given for mobile phone recharge, same as buying gift cards.

      • +1

        Ok, after following your above comment , was able to get the sim included @ $140. Bought 2 using suncorp rewards so added 5% saving.spent $280 - Saved 2 x $12 + $14 = $38. Thanks TA.

Lady was unfamiliar with process so initially told me unavailable on sunny coast.

  • Does the recharge only reduce to $150 after a sim is scanned in the same transaction?

I don’t need the sim, so if my local coles is sold out, I don’t really want to go chasing other stores for something that’ll end up in the bin anyway.

    • +1

If anyone else is wondering, the answer was no. Selected the $15 what’ve on the self serve machine and the price was instantly $140.

So if you only want the recharge or are planning to port out of Telstra and don’t need the $2 sim, it doesn’t matter if you go to a Coles with no sims.

  • Coles Woden has plenty of $2 SIMs left.

My self-serve kiosk didn't give me the option to pay using egift cards so I had to pay at the front counter.

    • Have you checked whether the sim is valid? I bought two $2 Sims with $140 recharge from Coles Gungahlin yesterday, trying to activate online, saying sim serial number invalid or already activated, but the sim expiry date is 23 Mar 2021.

  • Thanks OP

    Got free $2 SIM and 12 Month $ 140 recharge voucher = saving $2 (sim) + $10 (voucher) +$ 7 (eGift Card 5% discount) = $19

The above i got from Coles Airport West

    Thanks TA

Purchased from Green Valley Coles. Just walked up to the counter and asked for the $150 Boost recharge with $2 Starter Sim

    • Hi Simoneee,

Did the voucher state the voucher expiry date?
      Thanks.

      • The one which i got today, the voucher expiry date is 17.01.2021

      • Yeah, the same as Rdmelbourne (17/01/2021)

      • same expiry date too :) 17.01.2021

    • I did self service and it scanned the sim but not on receipt.. hmm

      • Same here - nothing on receipt like image above. Let me know if yours works. I'm not activating mine for a few months.

  • Went to coles in Perth. Still scans as $150 and no free sim. Total = 152. What did I do wrong?

  • Damn, Just bought one and activated it a week back ( porting from Kogan )

  • Got the last 2 Prahran

  • I bought a sim from Top Ryde NSW, activated but only have 3G and no internet access. Anyone else have the same problem?

    • Change/reset the AP you are connected to.

      • it is already "telstra.wap", still not working, did the reset network settings too. Called them up and they reckon might be because the sim I got is old and no 4G. So they are posting a new sim to me, but it means no internet access until then..

  • I picked mine up about an hour ago, called up to port as I was out and it was literally instantaneous.

No issues here, 4g, AFL pass also seems to be working. Absolute bargain!

Thanks again op, I would have missed this.

Cashier said it had been pretty popular, she sold one just before I picked it up. $140 with the free Sim.

  • Went to two Coles stores today, Box Hill and Melbourne Central. Both didnt have any stock even though I pointed out the ad in the catalog.

  • It seems coles staff dont know how to sell me this offer, any advice on how to get it from a clueless cashier? Went to 3 stores

    • +1

Work for me, select phone recharge at any register includes self checkout.

  • So just went into my Coles and they told me to buy a $2 sim and then activate it online.

They don't have the actual recharge in store.

    This doesn't seem right…

    • +2

Don't ask for the "deal". Grab the $2 SIM, bring it to the counter and ask to buy the sim and a $150 recharge.

  • How do I buy this ..Its not on Coles web site and there is no link where to purchase

    • At a Coles store.

  • +5

The recharge is just printed on your receipt, it is not a physical item. So if the staff are confused, ask them for a normal boost prepaid recharge voucher. Or better yet, do it yourself on the self serve.

As soon as you select it the price displayed will be $140 and you can then scan a $2 sim (or not if you don’t need it) and it will be free.

    • Ah damn it, looks like I stuffed up and should have just scanned the $2 sim - cheers.

  • In-store only. Go to the service desk. Ask for $2 Boost sim + $150 recharge = $140

    • Didnt work for me. They had no idea at Box Hill and Melbourne Central.

      • Work for me, select phone recharge at any register includes self checkout.

      • I went to southern cross Coles and asked the person at the counter for a $2 boost mobile sim and then the $150 recharge. Came to $140

    • Yeah I went to service desk and they just directed me to the sim phone section in store.

Might try one other nearby, otherwise I'm pretty happy to just pay $150, still a good deal. Never knew about it until now.

Carindale Coles lots of $2 Sims left. Went up to counter and they pointed me to a tag on the shelf that said there was an error, shouldn't be $140, the deal was meant to be $150 recharge and get free $2 Sim. However, I just self check out, scanned the $2 Sim, added the $150 recharge and final price was $140. No problems. Also used egiftcard all good :)

  • Can someone tell me how to use their app to check balance on wifi. Thanks.

    • You can't. You can only do via data. Silly really.

      • Or just call #111#

  • How do I port my own mobile number to this? Coming from another prepaid plan (exetel)?

    • it's one of the questions when you activate the Boost Sim.

  • +1

I went to 5 coles stores and could not find the 80gb recharge card . rang around and a very helpful lady at Mitcham Coles told me just to pick up the $2 Sim card and take it to the register and when they do the $150 recharge it will come up as $140 (including the $2 sim card ). Went back to my local store and told them what to do and it worked a treat. They all know how to do it now in the Croydon North store.

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

I was paying more than $140 per month to Telstra for my 1 phone plan and 1 sim only plan. Cancelled both of them. I have bought this but will activate early next month. I hope it will be good.

$140 a year is great as I use around 3 GB data per month, mostly on WiFi. Plus I got 1000 bonus points from Coles, so its $135 effectively.

    • I thought the flybuys bonus points promo excluding mobile recharge? So you got the 1000 bonus points already?

      • I can confirm I received the 1000 bonus points the next day. The phone plans are not excluded from this deal. I have checked the terms and conditions.
Gift cards and tobacco products are probably excluded.

Tried at my local Coles in Hornsby, failed. No $150 packs left on any shelves and the lady at the counter said she couldn't just do a recharge on the $2 sim pack. She also told me about the 'mistake' which a few users have already pointed out above.

What a shame. The catch deal looks a lot better now (135 + 15 cashrewards). It's on the optus network though.

    • +1

Go to Coles West Pennant Hills, they will definitely be able to recharge the $2 sim and they have plenty of $2 sim in stock. Just ask them for $150 recharge and it will automatically show $140 on the payment screen.

    • +1

Just do it yourself on the self serve.

    • Was just at Hornsby as well. Lady at the counter could not help at all. Just purchased myself using self service.

  • So if I am already on Boost, can I buy this recharge and apply it to my existing Sim or will the recharge go against the new $2 one? I am now officially confused.

    • Yes you can buy it and apply it to your existing sim.

  • -3

why is a deal? when telstra prepaid sim online only selling $200 for 150GB DATA for 12 months

      • Some people don't need 150GB of data, so they can save 30% or $60
      • More international calls with Boost
      • Telstra deal is out of stock
    • This deal was posted before Telstra deal and was one of the cheapest at that time. For some people 80 GB is more than enough for 1 year. Hence saving $60.

  • Is it available from coles Online? Cant seen to find it

  • +3

As others have said (to save you reading through all the posts), just because a Coles store doesn’t have the 80GB/$140 Boost card/pack in stock, doesn’t mean they can’t sell the same data recharge plan to you - they can do the transaction on their computer.

The necessary details are on the Coles receipt, i.e. the recharge voucher number and expiry date.

However, most checkout chicks either don’t think this is possible, don’t know how to do it, or just don’t wanna.

I didn’t need a sim, but if you do, just ask for the free one.

Strongly suggest buyers download the Boost app to initiate the recharge (I couldn’t get the #111# to work for me). Moreover, the app is perfect for keeping track of your usage.

  • So I purchased using self service and scanned SIM. Paid $140. However on receipt there's no mention of the $2 SIM. Is this going to be an issue?

    • No, the SIM was free. But if you are switching from a Telstra postpaid plan, you will need to get Boost to post you a SIM.

  • Never mind.

  • Plenty SIMs left at Coles Northcote

  • Can this be included as part of weekly shopping offer to collect bonus points after 4 weeks???

    • Yes. It will print on your shop docket saying you have qualified for this week.

      At least that's for me.

  • Got this, thank you OP!

  • Went to Coles on Churchill road today, they don't have the sim cards for this plan specifically

Nevermind, should have read the comments before going

  • For anyone wondering about Flybuys, yes, you DO get points with this.

Check for points boosters in the Flybuys app/site or in your email.

I had a bonus points booster offering 2000 points off an $80 spend (so $10) which has been credited. I also paid with discount gift cards knocking another $7 off (5%).

This brought my total cost down to $123, or $10.25 a month… :-)

(I was paying $139.20 per month, albeit with ~$78 of iPhone X payments in there…)

  • CAUTION - Boost Prepaid excludes all "Premium Numbers" like 1800…, 13…., 19…. when you can clock up a lot of minutes waiting. I checked this with Boost online.

    • +2

You have been given false information. 13, 1300, and 1800 are all included. Been a Boost customer long enough to know. Also, see here.

  • To only receive SMS whilst on roaming overseas, is a $5 add on pack required? And the $5 add on pack expires after 28 days correct?

    Thanks.

  • Don't forget to check the registers if you can't find a $2 Sim in the mobile sim area, I almost left empty handed

  • Where we can find the valid of the voucher bought from Coles?

  • Got the sim card and recharge from Coles yesterday, today I am trying to activate the sim, put in the sim serial number, then clicked check number, surprisingly got a warning message, it says invalid or already activated??? Anyone has a clue?

    • Did you scan the sim card at the checkout?

  • Did you scan the sim card at the checkout?

    • Yes, I did. But it doesn't shown on the invoice.

  • Hi guys, hoping someone can help. I bought this deal to switch over from Amaysim (Optus network) . Activated sim online and opted to keep my existing number. Amaysim stopped working almost in 10mins. Then called the customer service to help with recharge. Did that. Only getting data and SMS. Calls outgoing and incoming not working at all. Chatted with support online twice but only hearing that it's being looked. Anyone had similar issue and how did it get resolved. What was the root cause. Also got an SMS from Telstra saying ->> Hi and welcome. We have now successfully switched <my existing no> to Boost Mobile. But still no calls. Please help.

    • +1

give it overnight/24 hours it should eventually fix itself. I read a lot of people who experience the similar and most are resolved by giving it 24hours or so.

      • thanks for your response. After few attempts, boost support asked me to insert sim in different mobile and it worked. But didn't work in the mobile handset I use where both Amaysim (Optus network) and Lebara (Vodafone network) working all fine. Boost asked me to go a nearest Telstra store, so I went but when I mentioned Boost, store person reluctantly checked and advise me that he find my interaction ticket and told me to contact boost. Also advised me that they can't help with boost issues :-(

Anyway now I am stucked. Is it my mobile handset Oppo A73. Can someone help if you have gone through this.

  • Alright, things getting interesting.

Trying to activate tonight, Boost's website is saying invalid sim serial. Contacted their customer service, they are saying the sim card is "unsold" and ask me to buy a new $2 sim or replace it.

I went to Coles on Churchill road, the lady was nice but she was constantly saying I didn't scan the sim card at self-check machine as it's not on the receipt just like many other ozbargainers but I guarantee that I scanned the card. My friend was with me on that day and he confirmed I scanned it as we both heard the beep sound, but it was just not on the screen or the receipt!

Eventually, the lady said she's going to pay it. Ok, thank you for your help, but it's not my problem so even 2 bucks I'm not gonna pay it! And who cares what other people are saying!

A super depressing experience. Just be careful with what it prints on your receipt if there's a similar promotion next time.

      • I went to them for the second time after that comment

        • I just gave mine a little test and it did not say invalid sim number after selecting port existing number, so i think mine works even when $2 sim not on the receipt.

          • @dingdong3000: I remember yesterday the CSR told me to replace with sim cards with serial numbers not starting with 82500 or 82600 (I couldn't remember the exact number as I no longer have the card and I forgot to screenshot the conversation…) I'd assume that means these cards are faulty?

I guess yours doesn't start with these numbers.
