Sunbeam Toaster $6.31 the RRP is $65! Use This Voucher On ANYTHING Sunbeam for $50 OFF!!

5313
SUNCHEF

Mod: OP is associated with the Pinpoint group, who owns Alwaysonsale, which is banned for misleading deals, which is why the poster linked to Buckscoop. Whether the OP saw this deal or whether this is viral marketing campaign is anyone's guess.

Note that Alwaysonsale's last post, http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/23558, they never delivered what was promised, you may find you won't receive your items.

Hey guys, I posted up a deal not long ago from Deal Monkey (daily deals site) where you get a free $50 voucher to use on Sunbeam products if you purchase a Masterchef magazine subscription. I'm giving away the coupon ($50) without you having to buy the magazine, it's not unique and works for everybody that uses it!

The same coupon I received has worked for 2 friends! I bought a toaster worth $65 for only $6.31 and one of friends bought a Rice Cooker for $15 thats worth like $70. The coupon is meant for all Sunbeam products over $50 I think.

The Code is SUNCHEF

If the code doesn't work for you guys please delete this post, but it has worked for my friends.

you threw it off the balcony? WTF who does that anymore
sure in the old days it was the norm but damn we're living in the 21st century.

      • Maybe the ex was underneath the balcony. :)

      • It's coming back, what's old is new again. Get with it.

      • I threw my mobile off the balcony then went and stomped on it and then snapped it in half then realised I had photos on it that i wanted and I've kept it in a box somewhere ever since :S. Was phone playing up + WoW rage at the time (This was in 2006 mind you :))

      • you threw it off the balcony?

it's the only true way to test how well-constructed appliances are :)

  • the website is just not loading for me

    • +5

They've probably garnered enough names, addresses and CC details and have called it a night. :P

      • I remember the Russian sites that resell 'acquired' CC details lol.

But most likely they'll use the details for aggressive marketing tactics, emphasis on aggressive. :)

  • Postage at $14.95 per item doesn't work out a good deal anymore. Unless you buy one cheap item.

Looking pass all the previous complaints with the maglights, anyone had good experience with AOS?

  • +3

The combination of a misleading buckscoop link and the bad history are enough for me to neg this one.
Thanks to all who gave a heads-up; I was about to buy this (need a new mixer).

  • +1

    Nothing is free in life.

  • +5

    OzBargainers, think for yourself.

Why link to a proxy site which refers you to a deal for a banned website known for NOT-DELIVERING ITEMS PAID FOR?
Why not just link directly (the main title link, not the one in the info) to the banned website? Oh wait, because it's been banned for fraudulent activity.

Seriously, we're all after a bargain but remember that the deal isn't free. So not only do you give away your personal info (which is a given as an OzBargainer) but you'll be out of pocket for a bit.

  • wtf so is this a scam or something? should I contact my credit card company?

    • +3

Look at the previous deal listed by the same company that the mod posted: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/23558

Judge for yourself if you should be concerned -> Look at the last page of comments of people asking for cashbacks, refunds, chargebacks, etc.

  • +3

Lets get this negged into oblivion.
Judging from reading the previous deal,I would stay way clear of the company. This has to be one of the most dodgiest things I have seen

  • +1

One would hope the site learned from the last saga of trying to scam, and with more money being involved this time due to items being much more expensive, one will hope they honor the deals and deliver on time. Because if they don't there will have to be something done so this website and company's owner cannot do business anymore

At the same time this deal has been absolutely ozbargained and it is unlikely they will have not enough sunbeam products to meet demand. They will have to make the decision on whether to refund or otherwise there could be a lot of charge backs

  • A little late for the warnings, don't you think? Interesting how nobody posted any warnings until just a couple of hours ago, plenty of people have already bought based on the initial positive comments.

    • +1

i think you are wrong.the people like lisss and Dr.tenma warned us since it started but most people don't see a mousetrap or just don't care. some people even neg Dr.tenma.in real life nothing is free.these people are doing the business not running the charity.we all looking for a good bargain but should not ignore realism.

    • Yep, I warned you within 30 mins of the deal being posted. I think this is a lesson that people need to think for themselves and resist getting swept up in mass excitement. Dodgy sites like Alwaysonsale will use Ozbargain to trick people into behaving irrationally, we need to be aware of this danger.

sarahjanes88 is a REP for alwaysonsale.com.au which has been banned from OZBARGAINED year ago, so should be negged this one

Here's something I posted on her previous masterchef deal with the sunbeam offer.

Some coincidental eyebrowraisers on other sites with the same username (sarahjanes88):

http://www.topbargains.com.au/user/history/sarahjanes88/ -> just about every single deal goes to alwaysonsale

http://www.squidoo.com/lensmasters/sarahjanes88 -> blogposts that refer you to alwaysonsale buying ideas

http://www.canadawiderealestate.com/authordetail.php?autid=1… -> canadian blogs for alwaysonsale

    http://www.thearticledirectory.org/Browse/85780/Sarah-Jane.h… -> random site bio

http://www.slideshare.net/sarahjanes88 -> uploaded PDF with a sales brochure thing containing blogposts from http://blog.alwaysonsale.com.au/ (alwaysonsales official blog) -> affiliate of everythingbutflowers which is owned by pinpoint marketing (which own alwaysonsale)

Same username spammed the Ten community forums today with alwaysonsale deals and got removed (google cache might still show it)

Yeah, coincidental I guess, but seriously no-one devoutly spams links and makes blog posts to a website for months without somehow being affiliated…

I still havent figured out how you get an iron for $6 + shipping

You can only buy a single item > $50 or multiple items totalling > $50

But if you buy multiple items you pay multiple shipping fees of $14.95 + the processing fees

So the iron must cost around $55 but there is no item at that price. Pity so many things are $49….

  • +1

sarahjanes88, your behaviour is unethical and in poor taste. You should be ashamed to be associated with Alwaysonsale and you should be ashamed of your personal lack of morals. To the future, and let KARMA do it's work.

I have had BAD dealings with this company. Took my money and never delivered. Only refunded me after I chased them up repeatedly. I was terribly annoyed as it was a Christmas hamper which they never sent nor cared to contact me about. Basically, the status said pending for months after they took my payment! They never contact me nor made any attempt to refund for being unable to deliver a CHRISTMAS hamper.. logic says that there's no point in a pending christmas hamper order AFTER christmas! I had to chase them up and ask for a refund. Avoid! ps their phone line is hell to get through…

Just logged in and changed all my details to avoid piles of potential spam and dodgy deals in the future.

  • +1

Ahh crap - thanks for the heads up people, changed my details and proceeded to WTF at postcode instead of a password ??? Thought this was a good deal initially but then didn't end up buying anything because nothing really seemed that cheap after the $50 was taken off. Reading the Maglite comments made me really angry, their motives were so obvious, dodgeyyyyyyy.

  • After ordering, it did show Pinpoint Marketing in 104 Reynolds Street, Balmain on the final screen.

At least we have an address to egg their employees if the deal doesn't come through.

    • looking at google maps and doing street view shows that this is a residential area more than likely not a correct address. On the actual alwaysonsale website they say their address is 145 Darling Street, Balmain, NSW 2041, Australia, using street view it looks like a place where you can run a business albeit a run down place, and it did have a newish looking 4 wheel drive parked under it.

    • From reading their 'sales brochures' its hinted that they real guts of the operation or the owner is in Phuket lol.

  • Have bought from them before….. (some cookware)…. and it did arrive….. However, their shipping times were lengthy…. the item initially didn't arrive, so had to be re-ordered…. with similar lengthy shipping time. Was probably around 8-10 weeks all up.

I'd be wary of ordering from them again….

    • +1

If my order does not arrive with the timeframe stated in the email:

Delivery Time Frame: Please allow up to 15 BUSINESS DAYS for delivery.

I will be cancelling it and seeking a refund or chargeback.

      • If that does happen, just do a chargeback straight away -> they beat around the bush with refunds lol. But of course try first, just don't hold out waiting on them, take action on your side :)

        • How do you do a chargeback?

        • Call your credit card company and tell them to do a 'chargeback' on the payment to alwaysonsale. If they ask for a reason, tell them you suspect fraudulent activity - that's pretty much the best reason you can give plus if lots of ppl chargeback a certain company it might bring the fraud section's attention to it :)

        • if they ask for a reason, tell them you suspect fraudulent activity

There is no reason to lie and telling them that you did not authorise the charge might mean the bank will cancel your card and issue you with another which means you have to change all your payments and you will not have a credit card while your new one is sent out.

If you need to then tell them that you never received a refund, it is an allowed reason
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chargeback#Reason_codes

just do a chargeback straight awa

A charheback is not something you do first. It is the last thing you should do.

      • -1

If my order does not arrive with the timeframe stated in the email:
I will be cancelling it and seeking a refund or chargeback.

Not delivering it to you within 15 days is not a reason they should give you a refund.

If it arrives on the 16th day you should not get to keep the product for free just because their delivery company was not able to deliver it to you before some date

        • +1

chargeback beats having to chase some scammers up for a refund

        • Wanna bet? I'm not going to wait forever for a product to be delivered.

  • +1

just read the maglite discussion. Ouch. Glad I didn't place an order yesterday. Good luck to everyone who did though

  • I got my kettle this morning that I ordered on Tuesday.

    • +1

do you have pictures with the paper work you can show us?

      • It came with no paper work, just wrapped up in black plastic.

        • +1

No tax invoice or delivery docket?

I find that very difficult to believe.

        • Will you be asking for a tax invoice? You need this for your warranty.

  • i received my 5.5 l slow cooker this morning also, have to say good item for $40(including shipping)

  • YesPleaseThankYou,
I must be imagining a kettle on my counter because I didn't get any paperwork…

  • well both these comments of people receiving so far have been from people in Sydney which is where the company is located, so it will be interesting to see when items arrive in other states

  • I'm outside of Newcastle and I got mine today.

  • Got my fondue set yesterdY morning, don't know what the fuss is all about.

  • To: delfredo

I can't reply above (as I guess the nesting is too deep).

Yes, I will be. The page shown during the ordering process is labelled "Order Confirmation/Tax Invoice" however it is not a valid tax invoice as per http://www.ato.gov.au/content/downloads/bus50913nat123581020…

You will see that a valid tax invoice must contain: "the amount of GST (if any) payable for each sale". The Pinpoint document does not contain this information.

A supplier has 28 days from the date of request within which it must provide a valid tax invoice.

    • Thanks. Let us know how it goes. No option to print invoice at website either when logged in with email add and postcode.

  • My credit card provider called me this morning about suspected fraudulent activity. Someone tried to purchase something for $1 through iTunes using my card. The card was instantly frozen, and then declined another 5 times. This definitely wasn't me. I haven't purchased anything online since placing my order through Alwaysonsale.

    Coincidence?

    • possibly your computer has a keylogger on it. possibly your cc info was collected some time back …

      • No, there is no keylogger on my Mac.

Yes, it's possible it was collected some time back. It seems like a big coincidence though.

    • Coincidence?

      I think so.

When credit card details are stolen they are grouped into "packages" and people buy lots of numbers in one go.

I think it would take more than a week for someone to collect lots of card numbers, group them, sell then and then for someone to pick yours to start using.

Generally on line stores use a third party payment provider so they never see your credit card details.
Even though you type your credit card details into their website does not mean that they get/see/use your credit card information.

www.eway.com.au are one of the big payment gateways.

If alwaysonsale is using something like eway (which is more than likely) then they never saw your credit card information.

Was the tracker on the website updated for the delivery? Mine is still showing "On Order" and I'm still waiting.

      • same here :(

      • Didnt check sorry.

      • Mine is still showing "On Order" and I'm still waiting.

I think On Order would mean Alwaysonsale has then on order from their supplier

  • Received my steamer today (in Perth) and pleased with everything. great deal!

  • recieved my toaster in Victoria on friday but ordered a heat blanket that didnt arrive with it .

I just got an email stating that my order will ship on the 11th July and that for the wait I am getting a $20 off coupon.

    • Same here. I however would not be ordering any thing else until I receive the items ordered. They gave a 15 business days delivery time-frame which would be up this Monday (the 11th) and now they say the items will be posted exactly when the 15 business days is up? Smells fishy to me.

      • Hi Dins,

Do you want to send me your order ID and we will get back to you directly?

      • Have you noticed the delivery timeframe in their email?

"Due to our annual stock take, we would like to inform you that all the orders received as part of this promotion will be despatched by our warehouse from the 11th of July. Therefore, your product(s) will be arriving to your nominated address within the END of JULY and the BEGININNG of AUGUST"

    • Hi Mejutty,

Do you want to email me your order ID and then we will get back to your directly?

  • Hi there,

We have been closed for our annual stock take hence the delay with sending some Sunbeam orders. Fortunately there has only been a small quantity of orders affected however we are working to rectify the issue so we can send out these orders asap. Thank you for posting your feedback, we really appreciate it as we always find it helpful in regards to improving our business.
We would like to look into your order and get back to you directly, so please feel free to send us your order ID to [email protected]

    Kind Regards,

    Hello,

I just received my toaster today and my colleagues received the items as well. However all packaging are really bad (some boxes have 10 cm holes). Not sure whether the items are new or refurbished.

    • Did you get a tax invoice?

  • got my pie maker today. Packaging perfect for me so far

    • Finally I received my pie maker as well but with a large chunk of plastic broken off out of the bottom and inside the unit. I will have to try it out and see if it even works. Not sure how hard plastic could have broken off during delivery since it was held in place by 2 side holders inside the box so won't be surprised if it was a return or refurbished one. The box itself didn't look new to me.

  • yeap, it was shrink wrapped tightly, but the boxes themselves look pretty crap and beat up. Mine had a few large gashes in the box, mum hasn't used the mixer thing yet, but theres a strong chance its not a brand new one, but a refurb/factory second, which is just BS, as it was marked as brand new.

  • Got my blender today; shrink wrapped as described above.
    Box was in good-to-ok condition.
Unit inside was brand new. Tested and works perfectly.

  • If a warranty claim is made on a defective product, how would the manufacturer know if it is factory second (and therefore warranty doesn't apply)?

  • Got my breadmaker last Sunday, it was new and sealed in two boxes so it was in great condition.
Haven't tested it yet, I did get a $20 email voucher due to their delay in the order which I have no idea what I'm going to use it for.

  • Received my breadmaker yesterday - like shadowfangz mine was new and sealed in 2 boxes. I'm hoping to test it out tomorrow (have to buy some ingredients!) and thanks to this thread I noticed a $20 voucher in my email! Not sure what I'll use it for though =)
