        • Which is why I'm saying it's not worth getting the EPP.

Except in the case of the Galaxy Watch which did include the preorder bonus.

The S9+ I bought last year had a promo going on with a free 512GB SD card. This was also available via EPP.

the flat out discount is better than the inflated RRP of the akgs

Depends how inflated it actually is.

If the $500 can't even be sold for $200, then you are right. But that's crazy inflation.

On the other hand, if you are paying via 28D (as I would do), it's better to pay a higher sticker price and get a freebie. Because when this phone is discounted to $1000 in a few months, you'll be able to claim back $500 as opposed to $200 if buying via EPP. And those AKG headphones would be truly free because they aren't considered in the original price in your price protection claim (you paid for the phone, not the AKGs). Whatever you can flip them for is icing on the cake.

          • @lostn: Well tesltra epp is here with 50% discount BUT that is onky for sinhle sim versions + telstra locked.

            S10+ was not locked.

  • +6

How the $*&+ is this a bargain?

    • +6

      It’s cheaper than a car.

  • +1

will wait when its 50% off. got the note 8 for $600 from target.

    • +21

That would probably be like in 2 years time… then you have note 12, then you wait, and wait….

      • Or just get a Chinese phone for half the cost.

        • but teh spiez???

          • -1

@lostn: lol. Unless you have national security docs on your phone (in which case you use an iphone) I don't think the Chinese are going to worry. Remember they have 1.3Bn people already to spy on.

(in reality tho. I have read that the Chinese authorities use man in the middle attacks to access data (targeting Uyghurs), which tends to indicate that they can't access data straight off the phones).

  • -5

    Happy with my S10 5G (^_^) so, no need Note 10 😁

    • +2

Didn't know the 5g came with an spen?

      • +4

Didn't know a spen was the key to happiness

        • +5

people generally buy the note because of the pen…

        • It’s 1/4 of PPAP

        • +1

          It looks/feels masculine ;)
Of course, the S-pen is great tool - cannot leave home without it.
Use as remote for camera, PowerPoint, video editing, text/pic extracts, added gyroscope & accelerometer like magic wand.
          SDK is coming for developers.

Frustratingly, the Galaxy S10 will not support the new DeX features with Windows & Mac computers, despite having the same basic set of hardware specifications as the Note 10.

          • @taki: I use DeX all the time with my Tab. It's great, and makes as viable a laptop alternative as a tablet is going to get.

But using it on a phone makes no sense to me.

You need either a screen or a laptop to connect it to. If you have a laptop, why not just use the laptop? And if you have a screen, chances are there's a computer connected to that screen already, so use that.

        • Literally the only reason you buy a note is for the spen.

    • +1

Does that pair of black paper punch holes on the top right of yo big screen annoys you?

      • Nope. Before I get it I thought It would annoy but I can tell you its just fine. :)

      • It really doesn't at all. I forget that it's even there most of the time.

        • +2

          Most. ;)

      • On videos it sure does

    • +2

Wow, still happy with your 4 month old phone? That is crazy.

      • (O_o) hahaha that is the point as well.
Actually I was thinking if Note 10 is killer I switch to Note 10 but noooooo

  • +7

    Education portal Note 10 256GB= $1,199.20
    Galaxy Note10+ 256GB= $1,359.20
    Galaxy Note10+ 5G 512GB= $1,599.20
    No bonuses!

    • Does this include the headphones too, cheers

      • +2

        No. No bonuses.

    • Is the Note 9 still avaliable on the education portal?

      • I just checked. It seems no more note 9 there

    • Do you still pay GST through the portal or are they cheaper due to GST exempt?

      • I have no idea :)

      • +1

        it includes GST

    • That's great for the more educated generation;) though, Murdock won't be happy.

    • Can i buy using .edu email bought through ebay?

  • +1

Beat me by 35 seconds πŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒ

    • Hahaha yeah :)

    • If only that's what she said..

  • No deal

  • +4

    tell em they're dreamin' son

  • EPP (government)
    Note 10 256GB $1274.15

    Note 10 512GB $1699.15

Purchase a Galaxy Note10 | Note10+ and an eligible Galaxy Note10 | Note10+ accessory in the same transaction and receive an additional 10% off the accessory!*

    Also no bonuses.

    • EPP Westpac:

      Note 10 256GB $1199.20
      Note 10+ 256GB $1359.20
      Note 10+ 5G 512GB $1599.20

Purchase a Galaxy Note10 | Note10+ and an eligible Galaxy Note10 | Note10+ accessory in the same transaction and receive an additional 10% off the accessory!*

      Also no bonuses.

    • If you can sell the AKG headphones for more than 200, better to get it elsewhere.

  • -1

Boxy looking phone and that eye on the front. And the Xs camera on back no headphone jack lol

  • -8

I would wait. Which was the Note that exploded, the 8? The 7?

    • +3

      Seven. That's kinda irrelevant now…

  • +1

S10+ is far better than note 10 with microsd ,headphone jack and lesser price

    • +3

      Bluetooth Stylus? Thought not

    • Keep telling yourself ;-)

      • depends how much you value your Spen.

My sister had Notes 2 and 3, and never took the pen out of its holder.

The S10 has been 35% off within two months. That's a significantly cheaper price than this. And you get the jack if you care about that (I do).

        • 100% if you don't use a key feature of a phone, there is no reason to buy it, that's just common sense. Why I bought the S10e over S10, as I don't use optical zoom nor do I use the curved edges of a screen so you save hundreds. But still people will spend more to buy the S10.

Note 10 is obviously for SPEN users.

          • @onlinepred: I have S10+ because S10e does not support dual sim.

S10 has dual sim but not in a ceramic case.

This is expected to be my last Samsung phone. I will switch to flagship killers from here on out.

            • @lostn: Yea I wouldn't pay the premium on phones these days unless I get it at the price of the S10e ($610 after discounts and claims) - and sold my old P3XL so ended up with money to spare.

              • @onlinepred: yeah i wouldnt buy a mclaren either unless i can get it for the same price as my ford focus

            • @lostn: are you going to complain about the flagship killers when they dont have dual sim and ceramic backs or other arbitrary nick picky features without doing 1:1 comparisons too?

  • +1

Why don't they just do the phone for $899

    • +7

      Because the headphones aren't worth $500 :)

  • +1

Geez the Note 9 promotion last year was better.
Dual Sim, 512GB upgrade, and cashrewards at 10% off!
Even that had 1440p resolution (no plus version of that existed)

    • +1

Yeah note 9 512gb was 1799 RRP, pre order price was 1499 with additional 10% CR. Claiming TRS brought it down to just over $1200

      • I was lucky to gain an additional $215 simply by selling my exclusive Galaxy Fortnight skin on eBay.

        • And JBL headphones?

      • 1359 for note 10+ 256gb hybrid sim via EPP, no headphones which are about to flood the market

wasnt the CR cashback cancelled? remember TightArse saying not applicable

        • EPP is arguably "Targeted".
RRP for the Note 10+ is 1699 whereas Note 9 was 1799.
I don't know if the cashback was cancelled, all I know is I got my $149 cashback.

    • The Plus version is the equivalent to the previous size. They just called it Plus because the newer smaller one would not sound good if they called it Note10 Minus.

  • All I see is the giant price tag

  • Imagine paying $2K for a phone and not even getting proper 5G built into a phone.
Unless you absolutely have to buy a phone right now, you should really consider holding onto what you have and waiting for the tech to be properly built into the chipset..not to mention waiting for the coverage to extend outside of the main CBDs.

  • I'm gonna wait for the Pixel 4. It's a new phone year for me and I honestly can't decide if I put up without a headphone jack.

I've had a slow phone since 2015 and it's doing my head in.

Has anyone at all had much luck with a USB-C Dac and an OTG adapter?

    • +1

Pixel 4 sounds like a dud, small battery and typical pixel issues I would imagine.

      • That's what I'm worried about. Pixel is starting to feel like a bunch of beta testers

        • +1

Having been and still on the pixel train, it 100% is a beta tester phone.

  • +7

    4000mAh on Note 9 and 3400mAh on Note 10
    No Physical Power Button
No Headphone Jack and no Dongle in the box
    No micro-sd slot
    No, thanks. RIP Note Series!!

    • +3

      No Dual Sim (some versions)
      No QHD resolution

Note 9 is looking rather good.

      • Note 10+ (same price bracket as Note 9 since it is the direct successor) has those things.

        • True, just minus the S-pen

    • +2

You could go the Note 10+ which has micro-sd slot.

I am tempted to upgrade from my Note 9 and probably would as I like the features they've added, but the lack of a headphone jack is a killer for me.

    • The fact that the Note 10 only has a 1080p screen is terrible. It has gone backwards and unless you really want an s-pen, the s10+ is significantly better value.

      • People want cheaper phones, then complain when they are made cheaper.

      • +2

I don't really consider it a step backwards, it's just a cheaper alternative version. They made the smaller note for people who really want it. Meanwhile the Note+ is the actual note.

        • +1

Agreed. The note is the Samsung equivalent of the iPhone XR imo. Only the note 10+ should be used for direct comparison to previous note models.

          • +1

@NixMo1: The problem is that they confused people with the naming. It was a poor choice.

By calling the smaller one Note 10 and the bigger one Note 10+, they make people think Note 10 is the base model and a downgrade in class over Note 9, with the Note 10+ being the premium model that costs more. It's actually the other way around. Note 10+ is the standard model, and Note 10 is the cheaper Mini model. What they should have called it is either Note 10e, or Note 10 Mini and kept the bigger one as Note 10.

It's clearly confused a lot of people here already, calling Note 10 a downgrade because they're comparing it to the wrong model.

But as a long time Samsung user I wont be buying any more of their phones because they've chosen to go a different direction to my tastes.

            • @lostn: You must be crazy, that wouldn't confuse people and would be absolutely logical.

    • +1

      I have both Note 8 and 9.
The Note 9 is slightly better than the 8, due to its battery and some other features that are not really significant.
      I am happy with both.

So, save yourself getting thrashed $2K due to "upgradeitis" which will drop to $1799 after 4 months and then $1400 after months 6 respectively … get a Note 8 for around $500 - $600 and pocket $1500 (keep the headphone jack) for the latest phone that is 20% better.

      Cheers

      • +1

If I was buying now, I'd get the preorder freebie and sell it.

Then when the price drops by 40% months later, claim price protection with 28D.

Those free headphones won't be considered in the price matching policy. So you'd get to use it on day 1, get the free headphones, and end up paying the clearance price as Note 11 draws near. If you simply waited till it was 40% off, you don't get the headphones, and don't get to enjoy it from launch day.

        • That's a great idea!
          Cheers

        • can you do it that way?? how to claim ?

          • @CDG: Yes, I've done it before. Got a S9+ for my sister with a bonus 512GB SD card and in the end only paid EPP clearance price.

The best thing is redemption bonuses and cashbacks aren't considered in the original price for claims. Nor is TRS obviously. When we claimed the price protection, that price did not include the bonus SD card, but it didn't matter.

You claim from 28D's claim page.

            • @lostn: You raise a tempting proposition. I have the old price protection Coles Mastercard that lasts for 24 months. May look at this option

            • @lostn: You got 28 Degrees to price protect against EPP price? That's pretty good, normally the won't allow it since you need a specific account to get the pricing.

But then again… I think sometimes they don't even check

Price protection is definitely great for new phones, like last year's Note 9 I've got the 512GB version for the base model price, with 10% CR, TRS, and then claimed about $200 back so far… probably due for another 28D claim before end of August!

    • +1

      4000mAh on Note 9 and 3400mAh on Note 10

You are comparing the wrong phone. Note 10 is actually a new 'Mini' variant. Note 10+ is the new Note 9 with a price to match. And its battery is 4300mAh.

      No micro-sd slot

      Included with Note10+.

      No Physical Power Button

There is a power button. It's combined with Bixby now.

No Headphone Jack and no Dongle in the box

      This much I agree with.

  • +8

Can't wait for this phone to be released! So I can get the Note 9 for cheaper… lol

    • This!
I have the Note 9 and it is awesome!

  • +3

I think phones have peaked in terms of innovation, both Samsung and Apple have really been lacking anything new. I think it now comes to finding the best 'value' among peers like Huw and Xia

  • Two x OnePlus 7 pro or a G Note 10 plus… hmmm decisions decisions

Note 10+ makes the S Pen look small!

  • Where in the official documentation that says it doesn't support Hybrid Sim?

The Note 10+ does have a Micro-SD tray that duals as Hybrid Sim.

    https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2019/08/samsung-galaxy-note-10-au…

"The Note 10+ sports 256GB storage but bumps the RAM up to 12GB, an option also available on the S10 Plus. If you want a little bit more room there is a MicroSD slot. This is a hybrid, so it can be used for a second SIM instead if you'd prefer."

This is a great deal. The headphones that you are going to get free with these are sensational. They are rated as the best wireless noise cancelling headphones. And the AKG sound is legendary.

    • +6

You sound like a HN or JB audio salesmen

      • Haha. I am not. But those are really sensational headphones.
