I'd be surprised if Coles offered a positive CC deal in Vic !

    • -3

Coles are useless with these Uber gift cards. Often I go to three stores and they're all out of stock.

I complained and Coles fobs me off to Flybuys or vice versa and no one takes ownership.

I've been so pissed off at the way Coles handles this that my thousands of dollars has since gone to Woolworths and the fruit market.

Woolworths handles these promotions a lot better.

  • +11

$5 purchase fee with the Mastercard so still $5 profit.

      • +5

You can use it anywhere that accepts mastercard, not just Coles.

The perfect gift for someone special. Give the freedom to shop everywhere Mastercard is accepted - that’s more than 38 million locations worldwide1.

        • +4

Works at massage parlours, that way the wife thinks you spent the money at Coles.

          • +3

@JIMB0: Sounds like personal experience JIMB0…

    • yep, great deal, finally a coles deal worth getting out the flybuys card

    • Yeah, and you can use this Coles MC to buy a 5% discounted Woolworths e-gift card via Cashrewards/Shopback.

  • Normally NSW is the only place offered them .

Anyway 20% off a Uber Card fairly rare .

    Only 1 though : (

  • +1

Anyone know we can use coles egiftcard to buy colesmastercard giftcard?

    • Yes. You can.

      • Is this 100% at all stores/ states?

        • +4

Not pretty sure. Depends on staffs. There is no issue with the system.

          • @LuckyL: Apparently it flags "assistance required" if you try and do it at self serve checkout, older workers tend to be less forgiving in my experience.

            • +1

@Bargainbeth: It always flags "assistance required" at self serve checkout no matter which payment method you are going to use.

              • -1

@andylch: Well in this scenario, when it says assistance required, they'll ask you what happened. When you explain to them or they see why, they will likely put an end to you paying with card.

If your comment was a joke, yes, these self serve checkouts are hopeless sometimes.

Though no, it's never flagged that for me at payment, unless my card was declined, or I input the wrong amount on my gift card.

                • +1

@Bargainbeth: If you ever can buy any giftcard at self serve checkout without "assistance required", please let us know. Because it would be a completely new thing no one have seen before.

Most of the staffs will just wave their bar code papers and let you finalize the payment by yourself.

                  • @andylch: This. 100% of the time, no issues. Sample size of 30 plus.

                  • @andylch: Ohh, my bad, sorry. I thought you were talking about transactions paying with gift cards. Never tried to BUY a gift Card yet, heard this from someone else. I seee, if it routine then they shouldn't really bat an eyelid.

                  • @andylch: Bunnings giftcards do not require staff assistance.

    • Is that even possible now?

      • Yes.

      • +1

No, all the new systems do not allow this anymore. Even with staff approval

        • We are talking about Coles Mastercard here only….

  • Can I use the mastercard gift card to buy another gift card?

    • -4

Do think so as they don't accept split payment

      • +2

Coles do accept split payment, I've done it myself at the self service checkout.

        • +7

not for gift card purchase anymore. Please try and report it back

          • @SnoozeAndLose: Following! Would it be possible to buy this coles MasterCard Gift Card with Coles gift cards, and if so what would the limits be? How many e-gift cards can be used in one transaction?

            • +1

@Bargainbeth: Only one e-gift card per transaction now.

              • -1

@JIMB0: Are you referring to solely transactions that involve the purchase of another Gift Card? Because I know that you can use at least a few e-gift cards per transaction without difficulty.

                • +5

@Bargainbeth: Transaction that has gift card in it can't use split payment and your e-gift card need to have sufficient amount to pay the whole outstanding amount. Go and try this if you think anotherwise

                  • @SnoozeAndLose: Thanks for the clarification, I asked as comments are sometimes general/unspecific, wasn't trying to undermine anyones comment :). I meant to write that you can use a few gift cards in "normal non gift card transactions", left that out.

                  • +1

@SnoozeAndLose: Can confirm this. Changed some time in the last month or so.

                  • -2

@SnoozeAndLose: yes you still can, trick is to pretend your giftcard has sufficient balance and proceed to pay with giftcard without split payment, wait after the eftpos machine saying your transaction is declined due to insufficient fund, it will ask if you want to use the remaining balance for that transaction, click yes and it will automatically split payment with the amount equal o your giftcard's remaining balance (you'll have to re-enter pin tho), the rest you can pay by what ever (and can still split indefinitely).
Apparently my missus who never bother checking giftcard balance when go shopping have done the trick for a very long time to milk out the last cent of each giftcard without a single hair scratch whilst I was going all the hard miles trying to exploit the scheme. Sometimes it does pay for being slack 😢

                    • @lgacb08: When was your 'last time' doing this? It was changed around 2 months ago. They won't tell you when you have insufficient fund if you are buying giftcard

  • NSW only?

    • This is from a QLD catalogue.

  • but if it's a master card should be able to use anywhere accepting master card?

and can you use that master card to split pay something over $100?

    • Yes you can, although very occasionally some stores have EFTPOS machines that spew errors or not recognise Coles mc disposal card ID.

Works online shopping pretty much everywhere but most don't have an option to split payment.

      • Then it's inconvenient when you have, say, $4.32 left. hard to find something with that exact price

        • +1

online yes that 4.32 is a hassle I keep pile of em
looks odd splitting my supermarket payment half dozen times
          $1.44
          $4.32
          $0.46

but the disposable cards with spare dollar or so are actually great for those sites like GooGle apple Trials etc that demand a valid card.
the spare cents is enough to pass the <$5 authorisation test they do
          :)

Wow, loving coles 😍. Getting lots of flybuy offer such as spend $60 get 2400 flybuy points, spend $50 each week for four weeks and receive $50 coles voucher and many more.

Others getting same offers as well? :)

    • +1

I've got 'Spend $60 for 2,000 flybuys' and 'Spend $80 each week for 4 weeks for 10,000 flybuys'.

      • Mine is spend $50 each weeks for 10000=$50 flybuys,
Also I again got spend $60 dollar for 2000 flybuys for second time in a week :) That 2400 flybuys was for 10 days ago.

  • Can the Netflix gift card be used to pay for monthly subscription?

    • +6

yes.. what else could you use it for?

    • +1

Under My account there is a redeem gift card option.

    • How does it work if your subscription is in a currency other than AUD?

  • Is mastercard rechargeable ?

    • No, their reloadable card isn’t available to purchase anymore: https://financialservices.coles.com.au/prepaid-cards

    • Post office sells one still.
      Fyi.

      • Thanks. I can buy it once and keep reloading and using ?

        • +1

Yes it's the Australia Post Everyday Mastercard. Just be aware this has recently replaced their Load&Go card products and these new ones have higher fees. $7.95 purchase fee at the get-go as well as a $2 "Account Management fee" per annum. The minimum load is higher too at $50.

You have to have your ID verified and give the blood of your firstborn when you buy the card like you did with the Load&Go ones. Something the Everyday one has that the Load&Go didn't is the ability to load into different foreign currencies. So you can lock in exchange rates on a given day rather than when you make a purchase, which is handy if buying on overseas websites I guess?

      • -2

        Not any more.

  • It was mentioned this was from a QLD catalogue…are they usually state wide specials?

Also,.do gift cards count towards the 'spend $50 per week for 4 weeks' promotions?

    Thank you

    • +4

no, they dont count, never works for me.

    • You have to buy proper Coles items for it to count, like toilet paper and soft drinks, because gift cards sadly don’t count.

  • sweet

  • I'm assuming they also mean "scan your flybuys card"? Or do you actually need to swipe your physical card?

    • +2

      scanning works

  • Thanks! More Uber eats now! :)

  • Automatic upvote from me. Easily the best way to boost your flybuys/velocity balance. Thanks dealbot for getting early access to the catalogue!

  • Can the Coles Mastercard be used to sign up for the 90 day trial of Spotify Premium? I have plenty of email identities that I can use. Spotify has rejected previously used cards for new trials for me. If this works it will be ideal as I can eventually get more than my outlay back when I use the Mastercard for regular shopping..

    • -1

      Mostly no.

    • +1

Just used a coles MC Gift card to signup
to 90 day Spotify trial just now.

Edit: Note -did try an only1 Gift card first -that did not work.

      • +1

Thanks for that. I'll be picking one up on Wednesday.

  • -1

Which payment option do I need to choose if I wanna use my e gift card to pay the gift card purchase? If choose card option, it will ask to swipe card, how do I swipe the egift card? It can only be scanned. If choose gift card option, then t says something like “ invalid payment” after scanning the egift card. Then what? Anyone know? Thanks.

    • If it's saying "invalid payment" perhaps the register software has been updated to recognise when an e-gift card is being used to buy another gift card. You could try pressing the "split payment" button.

      • Thanks but not allowed to split when buying gift card either.

    • You can no longer buy gift cards with egift cards

      • When was that? I brought some JB hi Fi gift card on last Friday and still being able to use e-gift card

  • 50$ uber gives 2000 points as well or only 100$?

Can I buy several cards in one transaction? What's the limit?

    • Read the T&C's, bonus points can only be collected once per flybuys account.

  • Can I pay for these using an RACQ eGift Card?

  • Is it for QLD only?
    Thanks!

    • NSW too you can see the catalogue on coles web site

  • Can the uber card be used for uber eats?

    • Yes I used it last offer

  • Does anyone know if you buy multiple cards are you eligible for the bonus on them all if they're different products? (ie 1 x Uber, 1 x Hoyts, 1 x ticketmaster)

    • +2

Nope. Only one bonus is given.

  • Has anybody received their bonus points yet? I purchased a $50 Uber gift card at approx 1pm today and nothing has shown up

    • +2

      Always takes 1 -3 days

      • cheers

      • Update: purchased 3pm Wednesday
        Got my 1000 points overnight

  • +1

Topped up Netflix - thanks OP

  • Do you need to activate an offer to be valid for a Coles mastercard?

    • There is no flybuys offer to activate. Just scan your flybuys card when purchasing the gift card.

      • thank you for that.

  • Bought a $50 Uber gift card today, then forgot to scan my Flybuys card. Well done me!

    • +2

You can go back to the same store with your receipt and flybuys card (it HAS to be the same store, so if you bought it nowhere near your house/work, you'll have to trek it back there).
