Was looking at the $889 MSI GL63 laptop from Amazon USA and called MSI staff asking about warranty. He told me about this GF75 series at "just $400 more on Amazon from local seller" well he doesnt know about eBay!

Found the same model with 15% off code working just fine.
Slim light and thin, with small bezel, just a little bigger than most 15.6" laptops in size. Latest gen of CPU as well. And the SSD: 512GB!!!
Battery also 6 cells which the review said can last for 7 hours. Non gaming mode. USB-C, but no thunderbolt.
Warning: NO MEMORY CARD READER… I don't know why someone would make a laptop without one…

Is this good and cheap enough? I can get TRS as well.
Google says GF series are the budget line of MSI gaming laptop

for me, everything is good (for mid gaming) except no memory card reader…
can this last for 3-4 years?

    • It should be great upgrade for your 120 GB SSD, 8 GB RAM celeron machine :P

      • haha yes. i dont need to buy usb dongles anymore (gigabyte, bt5.0, wifi 5ghz, usb c)

        • Just curious, how did you assume it does not have memory card reader? Specs dont list ethernet port but it has one

  • The thin bezels make them almost the same size as the standard bezel 15" laptops. Not sure about the power brick but it's a 17" so I think it will bring the total weight to ~2.6kg. Definitely suitable as a desktop replacement and it is somewhat portable, but it's on the heavy side for a daily commuter.

I have the GE75 17" and have no complaints with it, but it's staying put most days of the week.

  • There was a gaming laptop with gtx1060 for under $1k not long ago….

    • Which one? Dell g5 $999?

      • Yeah I want that deal again

        • Me too. I msged dell eBay and they said will never have that spec laptop for sale again ever

  • Toys looks like a deal.

  • Anyone can point out the bad points about this laptop? Not many comments left so I am a little confused.
I don't see many laptop deals with 512ssd. Maybe because people not interested in 17"?

    • I think on its own, the laptop seems decent. But as BongoOB mentioned above, the G5 for $999 was better package overall (less screen size) and hence in comparison it may not appear that compelling. Also MSI is not that popular brand in budget segment.

Will the battery really last 7 hours under normal load?

      • MSI stated that but one YouTube review said, 5 hours for streaming YouTube.

And I just realised 512gb ssd actually cheap around $100 only haha

        • As per specs it appears to be nvme ssd. 512 GB nvme ssd are not that cheap yet I think

          • @jtrvk: I googled 512 GB nvme ssd, range are from $120 to $160ish. But funny the other MSI from Amazon $889 got lots of upvote and comments. Yes this is almost $200 more but more screen, better proc GPU ssd bezel

  • I've been pondering this exact laptop from Wireless1 all day. I've been looking for a 17.3" laptop with decent power (not for gaming) and I haven't found anything. The thing that's held me back is a few sellers are 1299 and there may be a better discount coming. Also, no card reader and the red keys are an acquired taste.

    • Agree! all local stores has the exact same price. And this model is weird, the combination of 9th gen Intel and 1050ti is not listed on MSI au website.
Agree no sd card is stupid, but I like red haha

      • Some stores list this model as pre-order, and given I haven't noticed this particular (frankenstein) combo in my travels, I guess MSI are yet to update their site.

Edit: Unusual combo is ok as 9750H will throttle in this chassis and I can't bring myself to pay good money for non ti 1050.

    • I am in the exact same boat..this looks like a good deal though!

  • Does anyone know how good is the screen in terms of brightness and if it gloss or matt finish? TIA

    • The display of the MSI GF75 is a matte 17.3-inch FHD from AU Optronics with the model number B173HAN04.2. The IPS panel is identical to the one in the Asus TUF FX705GE, although it is significantly brighter. The brightness at the center of the screen is great at 356 cd/m², the average brightness is 332 cd/m² with a brightness distribution of 89%. The black value is above average at 0.27 with a contrast ratio of 1319:1.

Like almost every other notebook, the MSI screen is difficult to read in direct sunlight despite its matte display and decent brightness. The display is bright enough to be used in shade or semi shade.

this is fairly new released model so not sure if anyone has.

      • Thanks for the info mate.

  • why these people buying in multiple????
