    What's normal price?

    • +1

      around $200+

    • Bunnings RRP = $259

      • +2

Jesus. That's nuts, for the "OK" quality.

I've still got the $60 25mtr one from Masters days. At the time, I thought that's a great deal, accepting the hose is pretty crap for this day & age.

    $200 plus

  • whats the hose diameter?

    • 12mm

Are the Bunnings and Amazon one the same? The Amazon one looks like its mounted flat on the wall with winding handle … while the Bunnings one is on a hook which swivels and has autowinding.

    • both are wall mount, think your right amazon looks you have to wind it up, bunnings is auoto, will change add to bunnings as its auto

    • +1

Yeah they're definitely not the same. Bunnings one is auto-retracting, Amazon one has a handle that you have to wind manually. Two different hose systems.

Bunnings one looks like better value.

5 Year Guarantee – every Auto Reel comes with a 5 year guarantee (when you register online) providing you with peace of mind that your Auto Reel will be watering your garden for years to come.

I didn't know so just looked it up.

    • dont think you have to register, bunnings description: Warranty Info
      5 YEAR WARRANTY

      • +3

Correct according to ACCC is illegal to require the customer to complete paperwork for a warranty extension where the extension is free.

        • +1

Nice, good to know. I just copied and pasted direct from Hozelock website.

        • are you sure?

I see some manufactures offer extended warranty only when you register online, for example, standard warranty 3 years, register online for an extra 1 year warranty.

        • see this

          https://www.aegpowertools.com.au/support/warranties

To obtain the extended warranty, the registration process must be completed within 30 days from the date of purchase.

          • @jjj123: They are still legally required to honour it even if you don't register. Sorry I don't have the link. It was one of the first rulings laid down when the ACCC was first formed.

Good info, thanks. Bosch & total tools got me hard a few years back.

Bosch blue powertool broke a few days into the free extended Bosch warranty. I then find out that not only did I have to register for it, it had to be done in the first month. Dogs.

          • @Ulysses31: from ACCC. Warranty cards – sellers and manufacturers sometimes require a consumer to return a ‘warranty card’ (usually issued with the goods) to activate a voluntary warranty. This may be a condition of making any future claim under a voluntary or extended warranty. However, it does not affect a consumer’s statutory rights.
Your still covered by your statutory right ie reasonable expected life of the product. If they offer an extended warranty it pretty hard to argue is not an expected life.

  • I bought the $79 one the other day from the popular https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/480565 Wondering if there are any quality differences between the two? I am happy with 25m otherwise.
There does seem to be a $69 one.

    • +1

$69 is the manual one. This u got, my friend, is the auto retract one. Not many ppl were fortunate as you are :)
      Enjoy what u have. Cheers.

      • Oh well. They were not placed with the other hose reels. So I had to ask the support person, and he asked someone else to finally locate them (at the end of the isle). Apparently because there was no place for them in the regular shelving. So people can still try at their local bunnings.

  • Says 7 -14 days pickup, out of stock?

    • No this is Bunnings idea of competing with Amazon lol.

  • Special order

  • is this hose good?

  • +1

Just a tip guys, if you really don't need 40m length, don't buy it. Above 30m, the reel gets really heavy and ponderous to use especially for the new gen hipster girly men. This is one of the products where 'more' is not always better.

    • new gen hipster girly men

What is new gen men? Born after 1990?

    • I imagine the flow rate is also impacted. I was always told to use a hose no longer than what you require, as the longer the hose, the more friction loss.
But that's probably more relevant to sprinkler coverage than spraying some plants…

      • I use a 50m one of these no flow problem for me

        • I'm guessing you probably live somewhere that doesn't already have pretty low flow from the tap.
Mines pretty crap, so I'm not running it through any more hose than I have to when I'm trying to water the lawn.

  • Guys I dont really want to mount this to my house.

You know how you can put a pole in the ground for a retractable clothesline?

Is there something similar made for hose reels?

I guess a metal pole, with a hose reel mounting bracket?

I'd cement it into my lawn.

    • There is no power plug required so I think it will be ok.

    • +1

Just buy one of those square treated pine posts, a bag of premix concrete and a level at Bunnings when you pick up the hose. Some coach screws would do to fix it to the post.

    How is this a bargain

    • You have better in mind… Please link it.

  • I read the product reviews for the Hozelock and purchased the Hoselink instead last xmas. I can highly recommend the Hoselink as a quality product.

  • -2

Too expensive for what it is, Cost like $20 to make

  • +1

is the hose wheel noisy when retracting?

i'd like to be able to hear when the local junkies are cutting my hose for bong stems

  • +1

"The Auto Reel is easy to use".

Would you say reel easy to use?

  • Still have the ~$30 one from repco from 6 years ago…. broke once…. disassembled it and it is as good as new. Also have the hoselink which in another league but so is the price.

    • Ive received a 'its on its way to your local bunnings' notification
Not a pickup one yet though

      • I ordered on Sunday 15th still haven't received that. Oh well 7 to 14days…we will see
