Intel Core i5 9400F | GTX 1660 6GB Gaming PC [8GB RAM | 240GB SSD]: $749 + $29 Delivery @ Techfast

9400F-1660

Hi all,

Intel CPU pricing has finally come down and stock is available to start making deals worthwhile again, so if you weren't keen on the R5 2600 | GTX 1660 deal this might be for you for a CPU that sits between R5 2600 and R5 3600 for gaming performance (and price). Happy to hear suggestions for other i5 9400F / X GPU combinations as well and I'll whip up some more deals. All i7s are still hard to come by and very expensive so not really an option at the moment.

Spec: Core i5 9400F | GTX 1660 6GB | 8GB 2400MHz DDR4 | 240GB 2.5" SSD | H310 MB | 550W PSU | Leaper Small Form Factor Case.
Price: $749 with 9400F-1660

Popular upgrades for "base spec" systems are the B360 motherboard (Biostar B360MHD Pro series) featuring the m.2 slot and switching the 240GB 2.5" for the 240GB NVMe drive, for $39 & $39 respectively.

Any existing due order with 1660 GPUs should be shipping tomorrow. MSI is not guaranteed for the base card (will more than likely be Inno3D dual fan) but we have a large number of MSI Ventus on hand for the 1660 Ti upgrade, so if you're keen, go for it and you'll get MSI.

If you missed any recent popular deals here are some:

Is there any where that lists the brand of products like the Mobo and GPU?

    • We use a variety of brands for most components, but our motherboard mainstay is the Biostar H310M and B360 MHD Pro for those two options. Z390 can vary. GPU will more than likely be Inno3D for this deal but we also use MSI, Asus and Gigabyte.

On the product page, under "Components and Brands" you will find what you're looking for.

although many of us would already recognise this to be from techfast, store in title please.

  • I hate to be that guy but I haven't followed hardware for a long time. How does this compare to the Entry Level Gaming Desktop posted earlier in the week? I'm looking to replace my dead PC for playing things like Classic Wow and Rocket League. I have a 4k monitor so not sure whether this will handle that or not. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

At low settings it may be able to scrape 4K@30fps, but you'd need to spend more to get a good experience at 4K. The entry level desktop from earlier this week is a lot worse than this one. If your budget is $750 and can't stretch, then this is a good value build but you won't get a good experience at 4K. But for the games you want to play, being Classic WOW and Rocket League, you don't need a high-end rig. Those games aren't very beefy anyway, so you may be able to try 4K on them.

  • How would these specs or any of the other above deals from this store be for photo editing only? (raw format in Illustrator). I’ve got a budget of around $1500 (including monitor).

    Hi @luketechfast,

Quick question, would you be willing to send the PC without assembly (e.g. with all the part boxes) - I'm willing to pay extra for any additional shipping charge - I wanted the experience of assembling the PC myself…

    • Same here, is it possible to do a deal without GPU?

      • +3

Sorry we can't split this out. There are too many complications with CPUs that don't have integrated graphics regarding testing, end user installations, and some buyers not understanding that it requires a dedicated GPU and claiming a faulty PC.

Hey, sure thing, just request Unassembled Delivery in the notes field on the Cart page. No extra charge.

  • "(Biostar B360MHD Pro series) featuring the m.2 slot "

I tried finding out a bit more about this board. The sites I have gone to all state is does not have an M.2 slot. Has there been a change, or did they all miss it?
I can imagine a few customers will be more than a little miffed if they take this upgrade and it isn't one…

  • Hi @luketechfast,

Would this system be suitable for use with Adobe Illustrator (for formatting raw format files).

    • My understanding is that the i5 is a solid productivity workhorse and roughly on par with the Ryzen 5 2600, but is far outperformed by the Ryzen 5 3600 so if you have the budget and want the extra performance, the 3600 would be the one.

  • Hi @Lucktechfast

Last week when my computer was dispatched (late), you guys stated that you had run out of windows 10 product keys and therefore were not able to activate windows on my PC. I sent an email this morning asking for when I can expect my product key and it was ignored. I don't believe that it takes more than a week to get a copy of windows, especially considering the type of business.

It is in your businesses best interest to sort this out for me ASAP.

    Best of Luck!

    • Thanks for the post - I can confirm that we are awaiting the keys to come in as they were on backorder. We had only just run out when your system was shipped and there can be some days between ordering and receiving of all manner of goods, Windows included. Be assured we will honor the purchase as quickly as we are able to. If it is more convenient for you, you can cancel the Windows upgrade and source it elsewhere. Let me know.

  • Hey Luke, I ordered a pc 8 days ago and was wondering if I should receive an email when it has been dispatched, and how long it usually takes to come. I live in the south eastern suburbs of melbourne
