Is there going to be more than 2 units of stock this time? And when do you begin taking email orders at the promotion price?

    • Definitely plenty of stock. Email order can be placed anytime starting now.

      • +3

I've never had a single one of my online orders placed, so what makes you think e-mailing them now will change anything?

        • +1

Agreed. They never give an email or anything saying order is ready. Plenty of times I go in and say heres my order number and I want to pickup parts and they say. Ohh sorry online ordering isnt working.
Only to find out you have bugger all stock of what I need

        • Double check your email address for your account, if its wrong you would never get a confirmation number, also from my experience always leave 24hours for a response, if you need the item sooner check the website to see if its in stock, go in and try your luck :)

      • is it available from all branches ?

      • edit*

      • +11

It'd better be in stock, or I'll huff and I'll puff and blow the store down.

        • +10

sorry dude, this one's made of bricks

  • Available instore or online?

    • +1

Well.. Online is instore technically, as you have to pickup from a store.

  • Is this v1 or v2, or other??

  • +4

Seems to work with the WDTV Live HD:
    http://www.wikidevi.com/wiki/WDTV_Live_Supported_Adapters

    • great observation :)

    • Yeah, the v1 does… But there is a v2 that has a totally different chipset, which is unlikely to work.

Worth a gamble for $5 though I suppose!

      • our version is VER.1000au

        • so will this work on WDTV live? Only reason I want it.

  • +7

Since I bring home the bacon I can spend $5 on this without being roasted on the spit by the "boss".

    lol sorry could't resist :)

    • check out the photo

    Any Pricematch/beats available?

  • How can I reserve one?

  • Went the website, the price at checkout is still at $37, do we have to wait until 9/07?

    • You can place order now and specify $5 Belkin F7D1101AU Piggy Head Promotion!!! lol…I can't resist as well.

      • Where can you specify that!? There was nowhere to type anything extra in!?

EDIT - I forward the email to the Mitcham branch after receiving the automated response regarding the $5 Belkin F7D1101AU Piggy Head Promotion. :)

  • :(

Any idea when you guys will start shipping orders?

    • Soon. It is into the final stage now. You can email [email protected] if delivery is required. QLD is the only state that does delivery.

  • Pick up only is the killer :(

  • I think wireless N 150 is not really wireless N, BUT since it works with WDTV Live, gets a tick.

    • Definitely works?

    • most of the wifi n on smartphones don't stretch to 300mbps either.

  • how much is delivery to nsw, sydney

  • Silly Question…Will these work on PS3?

To stream video from PC to PS3 as media player?

    Help appreciated.

    • +1

why? the PS3 has built in wifi

      • +1

        i had to lol a bit :D

        butttttttttttt

i believe the old phat models were wifi-g only?

and no, it won't work this way, use bridging with windows laptop or htpc (that has wifi N) via LAN much better results

Why did you have to close down MSY box hill!?!?! wonder if PC DIY will price match!

    • MSY mitcham isn't too far from Box Hill. =)

  • Does this work with Seagate GoFlex Media player?

  • +9

If my wife hogs the car, I may have to trot in and collect one, unless MSY is telling porkies about the number available. OK, I won't boar you any further - just being a ham (squeals with delight)

Hi MSY, as a suggestion, you should add a "forgot your password" feature to your website.

        Thanks

        • -4

"reset your password" would be more useful i think…

  • WTH!!! 24hrs!? The $5 deal doesn't start until Friday!? So it seems there's no point in placing an order until tomorrow!? Clearly no "clear" communication between the branches on this one!?

    "Dear Customer,

LOL welcome to the world of MSY

      • No need for a welcome, I am well aware, shopped @ the now defunct Box Hill branch for years; one keeps going back for the low prices, not the service or lack of. :)

    • Hmm.. I didn't get a follow-up email..

  • +3

Well with the handgun from the last promotion and the pig from this one, I can now shoot a pig. :)

    • If MSY follows the script, the next promotion will be related to a smoking room ;)

  • This deal's a rip-snorter. Shame about the size of the thing (hog!), not really portable lappy material. Great for desktop PC's or media players though.

  • -6

Please note it is N150…..not good enough.

    • +3

      $5 not good enough?

      • -1

I just want to remind the buyers it is N150….Not sure why I received so many negative post….>_<

When ppl want to purchase, they may always
think it is support N300, etc. Most ppl use N300 modem now and hence if they use this USB,
they can't really get the N speed. Title should put it is N150/

        • It still listed "F7D1101AU USB Upto 150M" in the body of the add. So its not misleading.

You are making out as if the price of $5 is not cheap. Good luck trying to find a B or G card even close to that price.

    • -1

      What a stupid comment.

  • Wirless N 150 isn't true wireless N. It is a marketing trick used by manufacturers. When wireless N was being designed, it was designed to be at least wireless N 300 (or dual band wireless N - some companies call those wireless N 600 - just means dual band 300 - 2x300 = 600).

Don't get me wrong.. it is not MSY's fault. It is a very nice marketing trick from the manufacturers, and they all do this.

In reality, wireless N 150 is basically like super G with slight improvement. The reasons why they are being sold (and you find them in some mobile phones) are:
    1. Cost (easy to make, basically change the chip and you can pretty much use wireless G antenna design).
    2. No chipset maker is willing to make wireless G anymore (not enough profit margin) so they make wireless 150 and called it wireless N 150 (it is better to call these wireless G+, rather than wireless N 150 - BUT if you are the marketing department, which one would you call it - wireless N 150 of course).

This is a good deal mainly because of the price (especially if you have a WDTV Live). If you don't have a WDTV Live, I think it is better to think of these adaptors as Super G (or wireless G+) and then decide whether it is still a good deal (it probably still is).

    • Yes, but they must still comply with the Wireless N specifaction, right? At the moment my wireless G adapter is only getting me 10Mbits/s yet when connected via ethernet I get 30Mbit/s

  • Ok, booked one, cant be wrong for 5 dollars
is there any price gurantee from MSY (say they will refund the difference if the item you bought dropped price in one month)?

    • This won't be going lower than $5, or do you mean for another item?

      • yes, I bought the asus 6870 for 229$ two weeks ago, was looking for the 202$ Inno3D 560 TI, shame they didn't have any 560ti in stock.

  • would these allow a pc currently without wifi to connect to an iPhone Hotspot ? ie. is the wifi protocol for 'wireless N' compatible with iphone wifi ????

    • +1

Not knowing the specifics of an iPhone, I can only comment on the wireless N standard itself - it is fully backwards compatible. And as such, it should work with any other wireless device.

Having said that, I've come across so many incompatible wireless devices and AP's that I've lost count….

For $5, it's worth the gamble!

      • i've already pre-ordered and just got my order number and confirmation a few minutes ago to pick up tomorrow…

i bought a $55 PC from here a few weeks back, now for an additional $5, it can go wireless !!!! :P

    • Yes, if iphone 4 it will connect to the hotspot using Wireless N, if 3GS or lower it will automatically rollback to Wireless G and connect that way.

      • +1

        thanks ccrap…

I have to say that I'm attracted by the pig on this picture posted here. Cute!

    • -3

      I'm attracted by the pig

That's illegal in Tasmania… Probably OK in Sydney though…

      • Is that why you moved..

        sunglasses on

        to Victoria.

        YEAAAAAHHHH

Oh if only I could be as cool as Horatio Caine CSI… Sorry to steal your thunder sir..

  • What the? Just got this email from Balcatta(WA:

    Dear Customer,

    Thanks for your email.
please check the promotion is from 08/07 -09/07. The price of belkin basic is $37 for today
Should you require any further assistance, please feel free to contact us.
    Best Regards,

    I'm confused.

    • +1

we already inform to Balcatta branch and they will reserve for you and please pick up start from 08/07 to 09/07.

      • Cheers rep.

  • $15 Freight?! Dayyum.

I'm going to have to pass on that.

    • what is your postcode?

      • 4218… I emailed the slacks creek btw.

Seems a bit expensive, Auspost regular is usually $5 with registered being $2.95.

  • delivery fee will be $18 :(

    • I think they're going to update it soon, it's not really worth it after the delivery to be honest. Still a great deal none the less - hopefully MSY change the delivery charges.

      • We have already got them double check and re-quote. Shouldn't be that expensive.

We are using Fastway couriers which comes with insurance and up to 25kg. So it will be cheaper if delivery is for bigger items like speakers, systems, monitors or notebooks.

We are reviewing our courier service at the moment because our online delivery service will be up soon and we will try our best to make charges as low as possible.

  • never done an "online order" from MSY before: even though payment has not been made, does doing an online order secure one of these definitely? (ie. if i pick it up on saturday, won't be sold out from friday?)

    • After placing the order online, a confirmation email will be sent (not the automated one).

  • so just to confirm we can order today and pick up tomorrow and only pay $5.00 correct?

    • that's right. thank you and enjoy to shopping in MSY.

  • Can i purchase this online and picked it up at the North Melbourne Branch tomorrow?

    • you can't purchase anything online mate, you can only order and reserve for 24hrs

    • Yes. You cannot pay online. But you can place order and reserve online and pick up instore.

  • $30 delivery for a Melbourne metro address. I could send a few kilos all around the world for less :/

    • I think it is expensive as well. Delivery to Melbourne metro from QLD should be $18. Must be a mistake. I have checked with Slacks Creek and they told me the post code you have provided is in rural area, using white label on Fastway's website which is why so expensive.

But if you are in Melbourne metro, it will be easier to pick up from one of our branches. North Melbourne store is the closet to city. Otherwise we have Brooklyn on the West, Pascoe Vale on the North, Mitcham on the East and Malvern on South East which are closest to Melbourne city.

  • So we have to pick this up tomorrow (Friday)? We can't pick it up on Saturday?

  • Why is it so cheap? Is there something wrong with it??
